What a great group of guys! Everyone was incredibly friendly, the food was delicious, and the service was fast. One of the employees noticed my husband's shirt and kindly offered us a first responder discount. I explained that my husband isn't a first responder, but that I am a certified first responder counselor. Even after I clarified that, he still wanted to extend the discount as a gesture of appreciation. We declined, but his kindness and thoughtfulness genuinely meant a lot. It was so good - in fact, I think I got it again the next week because I craved it afterwards. And maybe one more time before they took it away. I hope they keep it on their menu. It had a buttery, garlic bread spread underneath the meatballs and pepperoni with melted cheese. So I placed a Rapid Rescue To Go order ahead of time because we had somewhere to be and obviously that's why that service is there. I arrive at this location about 15 minutes after I placed the order and make my way into the store to pick up my food. I look on the very empty shelf where the to-go food should be and don't see my order. I inquire with the worker and he said my order would be out soon. I wait another 20 min or so and ask about it again. Still isn't ready, but I notice that there are customers walking in and placing an order for dine in and they receive their food before I do. Never had a bad sub from here, i use to never come to firehouse then i got on a meatball sub kick and now eat them atleast once a week if not more. I use to avoid firehouse but this location here has made me make it my go to meal if i can't find anything else around that i like i want i can always go for a firehouse sub. This location is good too and the staff are always nice and friendly when ordering, and doing extras since the app no longer supports certain orders. They have helped me order things that app no longer offers. I've only ever eaten inside a handful of times but when i pick up i usually wait 5-10 minutes and the ambiance inside is nice it's calming and makes you hungry. read more

Ordered the steak and cheese sub and some of there soup. The sub was decently good but I didn't care for their soup at all. Was so hot burnt my tongue. And just the taste of the soup wasn't that good either. But the sun was pretty good. I honestly probably would not come back unless hanging out with a buddy and they wanted this. I've had Firehose Subs as a catered order when I worked in Sterling. That was many years ago. Today, I thought to visit this one in Warrenton. I walked in to a really large, open area. Very clean with a great mural of a Warrenton Fire Engine. Also other firehouse decor such as fire helmets and coats. Felt cozy in the large room. Nice menu boards and they also had paper menus available. A very nice teenager took my order. Very smiley and polite. I took my sub to go even though there is plenty indoor seating available as well a cute bit of outside seating. When I opened my sub container I couldn't help but notice the sub was fully packed with veggies. It was good. It was well toasted and cheese melted. Really, tho, I like a good cold veggie sub better. I do wish they had green/red bell peppers and cucumbers, a cold slice of provolone. Just a preference I wish was available. *check out their 100% Health score. *Also good to have some proceeds go to local firehouse and schools, etc. Pretty neat place. read more

The worst steak and cheese in Virginia no questions asked. The rolls are at least 1 day old. There may be 2 ounces of meat on the sandwich. I didn't see any on it because I requested no mustard but there was an absolute flavor of mustard. $11 for a medium sandwich and it was a complete waste of money. I have eaten hundreds of steak and cheese subs and this was the worst ever. Either this franchise is an awful example of good is supposed to be or the whole franchise network of Firehouse Subs does not stand on quality as a core value. Yuck! read more

So she suggested the Steak & Cheese. Wow, how disappointing. Just not very good, the flavor was blahhh, too much bread and way too pricey. You'll do better at Leadoes or even the Suuubsssway. Hubby had picked up a takeout menu for this place from Costco, so we decided to try them last night. As of now, I'm on the fence about "Firehouse Subs". It's a chain that has gotten relatively good press, & the sub was very well-filled, but as usual, they just do NOT know what goes into an "Italian" cold sub. On a "large" sub - two small pieces of salami, two of pepperoni, two of Provolone cheese, & then a sh*t-load of sweet baked Virginia ham doesn't do it. And there is NO MAYO ON AN ITALIAN SUB - lol. The whole thing was just incredibly sweet from that sweet-baked ham. And unlike "Jersey Mike's Subs" here in Culpeper, Firehouse puts the Italian dressing (such as it is) on the sandwich instead of on the side, so by the time you eat it the bread (which is also way too soft to begin with) is soaked thru. So while I may try one of their other sub varieties in the future, it definitely won't be the Italian cold-cut one I usually order from sub places. I still seriously bemoan the fact that the little REAL Italian sub place in Culpeper ("Bella Mia") never returned after that earthquake that damaged so much of the town. It took the town over a year before they made the necessary repairs & the elderly Italian gentleman just gave up & left. Now HE knew how to make an Italian sub - crusty baguette overstuffed with roasted red peppers, crushed red pepper sauce, real Italian spicy Capicola ham, Genoa salami, Provolone, Prosciutto ham sometimes. He called it "The Sicilian" & it was wonderful! At lunchtime the line at the place was out the door. Ah memories. . . . I guess what I should do if/when I'm in the mood for a REAL Italian sub is to just buy the bread & cold cuts myself & make it at home, because Virginia sub places Just. Don't. Get. It. as far as Italian subs go. On a more positive note, hubby did enjoy his turkey sub, but it was the ONLY sub he can ever enjoy from Firehouse since he's not a red-meat eater. That's the ONLY sub available to anyone not wanting red meat on it. Sad, & definitely not with the times. Prices were reasonable for a large (12") sandwich, & well-stuffed. I don't have the receipt in front of me, but believe it was $8.99 for large; $6.99 for a 6". But again - nothing special in my book. read more

You beat me to "first"! :) I, too, have heard a lot about Firehouse Subs, but had never been. I went twice the past week. The first time, it was 5-star all the way. I ordered the New York Steamer, and it was heavenly. Excellent quality meat, soft, moist, delish sub roll, melted provolone, and dressing that dripped down my shirt, but I was fine with that because it was so delish! Loved the ambiance, cleanliness, and brightness of the place, and that I was greeted as I entered. LOVE the hot sauce variety to choose from, rating from 1-10 on "hotness". Took my kids there a couple days later and tried their chili, while my kids got a kids meal. The chili was very tasty, but for $3.99, a bit over-priced for the small serving. The kids meals are what just reduced this to a 4-star rating. Very disappointing. Lesson learned, steer clear of the kids meals and get the real deal... the subs. HEAVENLY! A wonderful addition to Warrenton and sure to be a big hit. LOVE IT! read more

I just recently tried Firehouse Subs for the first time, and have already been back twice. I would definitely choose Firehouse over Subway, Quiznos, or Jimmy John's. I love the Hook & Ladder, which is ham and turkey. Delicious! Their menu is simple, basically 10 subs to choose from. Just like the other chains, you can get the sub by itself or add chips and a drink. My husband is a big eater and the 12" subs here always fill him up. To address what some previous reviews have posted: I don't have kids, so I can't comment on the kids' menu. Yes, the place is clean - a big plus! Unfortunately, I agree that it is overpriced. I don't go out to eat extremely often, so to me this is a special treat and worth the price tag, but it's definitely not a weekly lunch type place. read more

I got the turkey bacon ranch sub which was on point and my son got the kids meatball. I took a bite of his meatball sub and it was so good, I bought an additional small meatball sub. I came into the shop at lunch time expecting a slow line and food quality similar to subway. What I encountered however was nothing less than excellent. Service is a 10, staff are friendly and engaging. Cleanliness scores a 9.5 out of 10, as the store is kept nearly immaculate. The crown jewel of the store though has to be the incredible food they serve. The New York Steamer, which I highly recommend, was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and very satisfying. The price is within reason for the quality of the food, and I highly recommend a visit to this establishment regardless of whether or not you are a fan of subs. read more

I have heard of this chain for years but never gone until today. I am hooked. I don't like any of the other sub chains - Subway makes me ill. I went today and found a big bright store and even though it was lunch, my order was taken almost immediately. I ordered their Italian sub. Now I've had very bad all the way to very good, but this was Excellent! Without a doubt the best Italian sub I've ever eaten. On whole wheat bun - you can pick white or wheat - and mine was hot with melted mozzarella. I don't know what they use for the dressing, but it had a LOT of flavor and the meats all seemed to be top quality. The size of the medium sub with a bag of chips (big variety to choose from) and a drink was just perfect for lunch. I'm tempted to go back tomorrow and did pick up a menu to study tonight. read more

I've always loved firehouse subs until recently. About 6 weeks ago, I noticed the dill pickle was not as good as in the past. Yesterday, I ordered my usual New York steamer. When it arrived, it was missing the cheese, Italian dressing, and the mustard! So now I'm wondering if there are new owners and they're making changes. I also didn't see any familiar staff members. I love the food, they have the best tasting subs around. But i'm concerned with the management of the Warrenton location. When we went last weekend our order taker had a bad attitude, the drink station was a mess, all four tea containers were bone dry. The floor by the drink station was very dirty and there were employees standing around behind the counter with no customers, looking bored. If they have time to lean, they have time to clean. I'm surprised by this since it is brand new. Update: Visited yesterday and the person who took my order was fantastic. They had plenty of Tea, and the drink area looked clean. Stopped for subs this evening. Got 2 large subs; an Italian and Philly cheese steak. Both toasted. By the time we unwrapped them (about 15 minutes drive home), they each felt as though they'd gone for a swim. The lower bun was so soggy it was nearly inedible. I'm not sure how a hot sub can be so soggy. All I cam guess is that they don't drain the vegetables before applying them to the sub(s). read more

Just had a No. 4 Italian Sub cold with everything. The bread was old and seemed stale. It surely was not made fresh. I dumped most of the bread in the trash; and ate the insides. Something was sweet. Someone might like it that way. Not me. The pickle was good. That is why I gave it one star. I might go back to get a $2.00 empty 5 gallon Pickle container for fishing the money goes to real firehouses, I think. Do not waste your time at this one. Not impressed at all! Extremely over priced. I got a chicken salad sandwich(medium & not a combo) for $6! SIX DOLLARS...for just a sandwich. Combo would have brought me above $8. For one person, this seems ok. For a family of four people, it gets ridiculous! The sandwich was very flat and definitely nothing fancy or glamorous. In all of the advertisement pictures there is cheese on the sandwich, but when we have gone and ordered take out sandwiches and taken them home, we noticed there was no cheese. We actually called and said there was no cheese and their response was "we broil it so much that the cheese melts into the meat and disappears".
