Old line Italian in Encinitas. Excellent atmosphere in and out. Huge portions. Very shareable. Excellent service by Bill. Four dishes. Each unexceptional in their own way. My Caesar was excellent though. It's a nice place to hang out.

A very disappointing experience from start to finish. We came in at 5pm on a Monday evening. It was just two of us ordering two appetizers, a soup and sorbet. It took TWO hours to get our food out. It took 30 minute to even order and that was flagging our server down. She was very cold, stiff and had zero sense of humor. But that's not the bad part. After waiting another 90 minutes , the food was not even edible. And presumably the manager (dressed in a suit) delivers our food and said nothing about the delay. No one asked us if everything was ok. We sent the first appetizer back, mushroom polenta. It was very runny and undercooked. The mushrooms were rubber. We would have sent the other things back too but we didn't want to be "those people". My vegetable puréed soup was worse than the assisted living soup down the street (which I've also had and was much better). The bread was stale and rock hard. To leave starving after spending $120 on tasteless appetizers was very sad.

The veal Marsala entree was just amazing and thankfully perfectly seasoned and not salt loaded like many restaurants do.

Lovely ambience and a wonderful server with delicious food. Seems pricey but generous portions of Italian classics. We thought we made reservations but did not but still were very graciously accommodated. Cozy outdoor table. Nice beverage selection. Calamari appetizer was cooked perfectly with a delicious marinara. We all had different items and enjoyed them all but I had the veal Marsala and loved it. It was NOT over salted and had a delectable sauce with plenty of mushrooms and served with green beans and a lovely small pasta side. There was definitely a lot of butter involved but the leftovers made for another excellent lunch the next day. Linguine and clams was also excellent and also buttery. The others loved their dishes too. We all shared some amazing chocolate lava type dessert. Some restaurants speed up or drag out your meal, but our server let us pace ourselves and it was perfect. Wish I remembered her name.

Located on the Olivenhain side of the Encinitas and Rancho Santa Fe border my family and I have been coming to Firenze Trattoria for many years because we live in RSF and FT always has consistently good food and great service. For this most recent visit I was in town for the Christmas holiday and we chose FT as our final family dinner. Inside is very large with many different seating options and a large bar. It is located in a sleepy shopping center so there is always plenty of easy parking. Our server Bill was fantastic and really added to the meal. All of our dishes arrived shortly after ordering and the portion sizes are generous. For this most recent visit I started off with the Carpaccio di Manzo and thought it was wonderful. I have been ordering this dish since I was a kid and this version was one of the better ones I have had in a few months. For my entree I chose the Seabass Oreganato and loved it. The Seabass was large and flavorful but the baked bread crumbs on top really made the dish for me and was a unique variant. I would highly recommend both to anyone. Overall a really nice Italian option in a beautiful part of San Diego and I am already looking forward to my next visit.

On Mother's Day, my husband and I went to Firenze for dinner. We ordered the Bone-in ribeye steak. This was what we received. There was so much fat. It was impossible to eat. By the time we got past all the fat, there was very little meat left. When I explained it to the waitress, she said the cook gave me $10 off! What an insult! It ruined my Mother's Day dinner. I wish I would've demanded that I my money back. The bill was over $120..

I was craving a Caesar salad and I've enjoyed theirs in the past. I live close by so I decided to grab a quick lunch. I was welcomed and seated quickly. I opted for the pretty outdoor area. There were only about 4 tables of patrons. I was brought out a place setting water and a basket of bread very soon after being seated. My server took a bit to come by but she was welcoming and friendly. I glanced at the menu but I knew what I wanted already. I tried the bread. It was dry and tasted a bit stale. I was surprised there was nothing served with the bread but didn't question it. My salad took awhile but I was enjoying the patio. When it finally arrived I was a bit surprised at the small size for the price. It was decent but the dressing was a bit sparse and it was not as good as I remembered it. My server checked in a few times. When I was done the server was no where to be seen. I waited about 10 minutes before she reappeared. I paid my bill and as I got up to leave I noticed the remaining tables all had oil and vinegar on their tables. As you can see in my photo I never received it. Probably a good thing because the bread on its own wasn't great so I only ate half a piece, I certainly don't need the extra carbs. I would probably come here for happy hour but not likely during regular food service, too bad because it's so close.

First time here tonight!…read more We started with the pomegranate and arugula salad and the pear and arugula salad. Both were really good but I preferred the pear salad. It had a really nice raspberry smear on it that sweetened it up. Then we had the rigatoni gamberi alla vodka pasta (got the gluten feee option) and my hubby had the chicken al limone. We both would get them again. (Although I forgot to ask for low sodium. Next time I will) Then we got the dessert flight. Really good choice. We liked the tiramisu the best. We came here on a wim as I knew most restaurants would be packed on a Friday evening. There were plenty of tables available for our party of 4. Decor and vibe were nice. I can imagine hosting a brunch or something in their outside patio. Carpaccio was good as was the Greca salad. We had the formaggio Pizette as well but my kids didnt like it bc the cheese was too fancy lol, but I thought it was good was the honey drizzle. The tagliatelle bolognese had a good sauce but was disappointed it wasn't tagliatelle pasta. They used linguine. I was mega excited to see Uni linguini on the menu but it was a bit too fishy for my liking. I prefer my uni linguini to be a bit more creamy. Overall, it was good. Might have to try their brunch but I think it was different twist of Italian food than I'm used to. But again, loved the entire staff. Everyone was nice and helpful!!! Which makes it worth coming back as you don't get that kinda service most places anymore.

We called and asked if we could walk in and they said they would hold a table for us in the back patio, and if a table opened up in the front they would seat us there. We got there about 10 minutes early and nothing up front was available so we got seated in the back patio. They said they would move us up if a table left soon. Thankfully, about five minutes later, we were able to relocate. No joke, that back patio is depressing if you see how bright the front room/patio is. I'm very thankful for our good luck. The food was great, and service was pretty attentive. Interestingly they serve different types of complimentary bread -- what you get is pretty much random. The shrimp barca appetizer was quite good. We got a bunch of pastas and the standouts were the pomodoro and vongole. The sangria was also pretty good. My daughter said she prefers this place to Piatti in La Jolla, which is a tradition for us whenever we visit. So they definitely want to return here when we come back. I'll have to remember to book a reservation early.

From the moment we arrived, the experience was wonderful. The service was impeccable, and we were made to feel like longtime regulars. Everyone, from the owners to the waitstaff, was incredibly attentive, welcoming, and kind. Of course, the true star of the evening was the food. My son ordered the Chicken Alfredo, while I enjoyed the salmon with penne, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. We started with a Caesar salad featuring a wonderful homemade dressing, and when it came time for dessert, we simply couldn't choose just one! The cannoli, filled with homemade ricotta, was exceptional, and the homemade tiramisu was the perfect ending to our meal. The entire experience made us feel as though we had been transported back to Boston for an evening of dining in the North End. We cannot wait to return and try more of the menu. Based on our experience, I have a feeling you can't go wrong with anything you order. Thank you to everyone at Alice's for your wonderful hospitality and for making our Friday night so memorable!

Great find, and one we'd look forward to returning to when in this area.

For dinner, we ordered the following: Sashimi Mediterráneo: Melt in your mouth delicious. Chicken Paillard: Perfectly lemony and beautifully roasted. The salad was fresh and paired really well with the chicken. I loved the blistered capers. They went great with both the sashimi and the chicken. Dessert: Basque Cake: A soft, multi textured, biscuity French Spanish cake with vanilla pastry cream and sweet cherries. The pastry cream is baked in perfectly. It has an almost creamy cheesecake like texture, and paired with the vanilla ice cream, it was amazing. My girlfriend and I just wished there was a little more ice cream. It would have balanced the dessert even better. I'm definitely coming here again and again! I want to try their Patatas Bravas, Paella & Kabocha Soup, but I also want to get what I've ordered.
