I can't say enough good things about Fireplace and Grill Center and, especially, Matt, the store manager. We called hoping to schedule a maintenance appointment because I was having trouble getting the pilot light on our ventless gas fireplace to stay lit. Instead of immediately pushing a service call, Matt took the time to ask thoughtful questions, helped us identify exactly what kind of fireplace set we had, and even sent us a video walking us step-by-step through how to light our specific model. He told us to call him back if it worked so we could potentially save the cost of a service visit -- and it did! When we called back, Matt didn't stop there. He went on to give us incredibly helpful guidance on proper cleaning and ongoing maintenance, explaining things clearly and patiently. On top of that, he helped us identify the right modification for a remote start we're considering and even checked whether they had it in stock. The level of care, honesty, and expertise was outstanding. Decided to purchase a broil king grill here instead of a chain big box store. Yes Peggy, we are regrettably in the rube StL metro area, your employees shouldn't act like they don't need the job. The lack of cognitive ability from the salesman to the follow up regarding warranty coverage is non existent. Ended up purchasing new castor wheels from a company online from Pennsylvania, had the part in 2 days. Random screws fall out. F&G couldn't care less. Now in the market for a pellet stove, Home Depot here we come. read more

In February we had a fireplace repair company out to repair a malfunctioning direct vent gas fireplace unit. That crew told us it couldn't be repaired due to its age and the lack of availability of parts. They then quoted us $10,000 for a new replacement unit. On March 11, we had a crew out from The Fireplace and Grill Center. We told them the findings from the first company. They told us they would have whatever parts were needed for the repairs, if any were necessary. They inspected the fireplace unit, cleaned the igniter, and started it right up. It worked perfectly. They also showed us a feature we didn't know our unit had , and gave us some pointers on how to run it more efficiently. All for the cost of the service call. We will definitely be using The Fireplace and Grill Center for our fireplace maintenance or repairs going forward. read more

I called to request service on our gas fireplace. When I explained the issue the very friendly woman on the phone asked if anyone in our household was mechanically inclined, and I said yes. She then explained that our issue was very common and extremely easy to fix and described how to do so. She also made a service appointment and asked me to call and cancel it if we were able to take care of the issue ourselves with her instructions. She was 100% correct and the issue was fixed in seconds. This showed their expertise but also their dedication to customer satisfaction. They could have easily had someone come out and charged us a service fee, but they knew it was unnecessary and were willing to troubleshoot for us. We will definitely be using them in the future for all of our fireplace and grill needs. Very impressed. read more

We went to several other well known Fireplace centers. The other places gave us misinformation and steered us to more expensive units that were not applicable to our needs. Steve impressed us with his vast product knowledge. His enthusiasm rubbed off on us and resulted in us being excited about our fireplace purchase. I bought a set of gas fireplace logs this past summer and had them installed. That went great but it's been for months before the weather has been cool enough to use them. I needed a refresher course on how to light the pilot and the logs. The folks at FCG were more than happy to help even months after the purchase. read more

On July 15, 2023 my wife and I came to order custom outdoor stove furnishings. We were quoted a price and told I will collect payment on the items that we were purchasing in store and that our items to be ordered would be paid upon delivery. We specifically asked, do we need to have it delivered or do we have it picked up and how do we pay for this outstanding order. We were told we will contact you in two weeks when the material gets in. It's been now three weeks and we call for an update and the rudest salesman we've ever experienced stated that there was no record of any of our transactions or quotes. We have his numbers hand written on the document for the final price. Not only did they not order the material but now they are trying to charge us more because they "would've never agreed to something like this." We would've paid in full at the store, but we were told multiple times we will pay once the material gets in. Now they are making us wait - missing our deadlines with our contractors and now they are stating they can't agree to the price because there's no way they would ever agree to that arrangement. The salesman is now playing like he has no idea what's going on and is acting like he never met with us. This feels like the biggest bait and switch there is. Let me call you on a price today and when we call back in for an update, you're going to quote me a higher price with no material order placed because you want more money. read more
