I had a really good experience with this fireplace store. Back in May I went in to look at getting a new gas log set, a remote start kit and a new fireplace surround. Alec locked me around the store and showed me everything and gave me all of my options. He said they would be getting new gas logs in if I wanted to wait and look at them, which I did. He called the day the logs came in and by end of day I was over there looking at them made my selection, and paid my deposit. The fireplace surround is custom-made steel which means I had to wait to get it but not that long. Not long after I made my choice someone came out to do a very thorough measurement to ensure everything was made to order. This past Friday I got a call to say the fireplace was in and ready for installation. Three days later, today Monday, it was installed. It looks beautiful. The installer did a really good job. From start to finish everything went smoothly. I'm ready for fall in winter with a beautiful new update to my fireplace. read more

After making our selection the installer came out to do a site inspection and detailed what was needed and all the necessary charges. The unit came in within a couple weeks and we had it installed. We went to Fireside after having just moved into our home. Previous owners had a gas insert in the fireplace and some painted tile glued to the old brick surface of the fireplace. We wanted to go back to burning wood so went to Fireside to get some doors picked out and ended up liking a lot of the stone/tile they had available and did a face lift to our fireplace. The staff in the store (Alec) as well as the guy who came to measure everything and the mason's they use were all fantastic and exceeded our expectations! I had a wood burning fire place insert I was charged $600 for a 20 foot liner kit to restore the fireplace flute. Six months later I had my fireplace cleaned and the chimney sweep asked me if I knew that the chimney liner only accessed 5 feet of my chimney. With his 40 years of experience he notified me that therdefinitely was pl of room to fill the entire space with the chimney liner. I was charged for 20 feet and received five and after discussing this with the manager was told that no there was not enough room to use the full 20 feet . Not only did the Installer not tell me that I only received 5 feet but when I discussed it with Craig the manager at the Canton store he was very defensive and unapologetic and argumentative and I received no satisfaction. read more

Update 6/16/19 I realized that I had not been contacted by the Township for an inspection. I looked over my paperwork and on the Invoice for installation along the line reading "Permit + $15 fee" was written "declined." I certainly cannot decline having a proper permit and the installer cannot decline even if I expressed a desire to do so. Was this written to suggest that a permit was not required? I contacted the Building Inspector to report this nightmare and he came out 2 days ago. And sure enough the installation into my gas lines was not done to building code and the logs were not installed according to the manufacturers instructions. I have no idea if the guy who did the installation is even licensed to do so. read more

If I could do it all over again, I'd shop elsewhere. We purchased a new Heat n Glo unit with installation for our basement finishing project. The sales team was great. Walked us through the models and options, and we picked out a unit. Installation is where things got really difficult. The installation team would not pick up the phone. Repeated phone calls and they simply wouldn't pick up. The rest of my contractors (general contractor and tile installer) were held up by their lack of responsiveness. I couldn't get them to commit to a date, and none of us (my contractors or myself) could figure out how to work the finishing surfaces off the spec sheet. When they finally did bother to pick up the phone, they committed to a date and did the install. But calling for the inspection on the permit was TOO HARD for them. They did the install and left. My general contractor got sucked into that debacle with the city at the very end. Thankfully my other contractors stepped in to save the day. We're happy with the unit and we're comfortable with the brand (they've been around a long time) Shop elsewhere. Your time is worth something. read more

Hopefully this will help others out there including builders and contractors. We purchased a very high end fireplace here and had it installed for a new build approximately 1 year ago. With the virus and all of the shut downs we have not been able to schedule an inspection until this week. Well low and behold, as soon as the builder went to turn on the fireplace, nothing worked. Not even the electronic wall unit. The wires were installed backward for starters. Not sure what else was done incorrectly. We called them come fix the issue and found out they never even tested the install initially. So it was never in working order. They just put it in and left never testing it. We covered it up during the build so not to damage it and didn't obviously find this out until we tried it this week to get ready for an inspection. The person my contractor worked with on the phone said it wasn't their problem now and to get someone to come out was going to cost another $200. They knew we had no choice considering we need the inspections done on order to move in. I really hope they got the rest of it right. Buyers and builders and contractors beware of this company. This is completely unacceptable customer service for me and I am a very reasonable, fair, and understanding customer in my opinion. Just expect to get what I pay for and this company falls woefully short. I will update with a review of the actual fireplace usage as soon are able to use it for a few months. read more

I purchased a fireplace from Fireside Hearth and Home in Canton MI. Once the unit was delivered is when the problems started. The install took about a day to complete and it was rejected the very next day by Plymouth Twp. The gas connection was not to code so they returned about a week later for the fix. Well, you guessed it, it was rejected again, for the very same reason. The inspector even went so far as to call the manufacturer to discuss the issue. They agreed with the inspector and told him he was correct and that it needed to be fixed to meet code. That was over 3 weeks ago! I paid the store $700 for the install and now they won't even give me a date when they might show up. I'm about to lose my stone mason over the long delay. This install has been going on for almost 6 weeks. I guess the installer, Burning Inspirations is trying to make a point at my expense. I have been back to the store twice and that was a waste of time. if you deal with this company, do not pay them until after the inspection or else you will be sorry. read more

I wish I can give these guys 0 stars. I spent over 6000dollars for putting a new fireplace. Their guy came out took the measurements, installed the fireplace and guess what the crown is way off, the door is almost 6 inches short and it looks so bad. I took pictures went to the showroom , their reply is well the guy took wrong measurements we need a new door and crown which is going to be another 1200 dollars because it's a special order not a standard size . But they can't take the original standard door back . Ok that's fine but they make you look like your order is very small they have bigger thinks to worry about. Very rude and dishonest . Also forgot to mention the remote doesn't work anymore and I can't even use the fireplace anymore because it heats the TV mounted right on top of it because there's nothing to block the heat. read more

As many others writing reviews here on Yelp for this place, I wish I could give them a zero. I was happy with my insert that is 5 yrs old from them, but it is now non functional. We have tried all troubleshooting ourselves, and nothing. Went to the store, explained situation, gave me a number to call for their service. After 4 phone calls, leaving a voicemail (no way to reach a live person) and then also leaving 2 emails for the Canton manager. ...nothing! I've never seen such horrible service! Do not buy from these people. The manager, if a good business person, should be calling me back at the very least. Now, just before Christmas when I really need my fireplace, I have nothing but an insert that looks pretty but nonfunctional! Arrggghhhh! read more

We had no issues. We purchased a gas fireplace in December of 2014. Had it fully installed by the end of January 2015. About 30-40 days from purchase to install is perfectly acceptable in our area. We had ordered a smaller framing around the actual insert than what we actually needed. It was much appreciated hat they send out contractors to do the measurement and confirm the order before they actually place it. Very helpful and helps head off extended wait periods if the wrong sizing has been ordered. The contractors they sent to SK the measurements, install, and gas lines, were from the local area and were excellent. Very pleasant, and professional. Overall, we LOVE our insert, and we had a pleasant experience with the purchase and install. Nothing special, just good old fashioned dependable customer service. Good for actual purchase of the fireplace unit. However,miscommunication regarding venting caused us to pay for vent pipe we were unable to use or return for our money back. Was told it would be $150 for someone to come measure pipe as I was uncomfortable doing that myself (didn't want to end up with add'l pipe that was unusable). When I asked if that $150 would cover the measure and install of the new pipe I was told that install would be $600. I also would opt to rate zero if I could. I took accurate measurements to the showroom and was shown a great insert with adjustable fan and flame height from the remote (in December). I paid and set up an install date. Prior to install someone came out to verify measurements. Two installers came out and discovered the insert was too big for my fireplace opening (keep in mind I provided accurate measurements and they sent someone out to measure). A new, smaller insert was then ordered which cost more than what I was originally quoted. Installers came back out to install and discovered that the louvers were too short and would not fit. Custom louvers had to be ordered driving the cost up again. I called and spoke to Craig explaining that my $3500 insert was now a $5000 insert and that I did not anticipate that price tag because of their screw ups. Craig said he could use a manufacturers coupon (thanks). I just wanted the job complete and went ahead with it. Long story short I finally got my insert installed in March, just in time for spring (remember I ordered in December). The insert did not offer flame height adjustment or fan adjustment like the one I was originally quoted (found that out after it was already installed). That's a lot of money for shit service. Yelp should have a negative star on here. Went to Fireside hearth and Home in Canton Mi. It's a monday early afternoon when my daughter and I walk in. No, "hello" No, "How can I help you"? Nothing....We were the only two people in the store, not to mention the two employees working the desk (man and woman). We walked around waiting for someone of offer assistance...nothing. Only when we started pushing the remote buttons on the wall to see how these fireplaces worked did the man say... "How can I help you...while he was at his desk. He didn't even bother to walk up to us for any questions. Totally rude. I must say, you folks at Fireside Hearth and Home must do a hell-of-a business ONLINE because your in store customer service is absolutely the worst. I work in customer service for 30+ years and I know that if the company I work for, treated our customers like these two employees of yours....Well, we would be out of business.
