I came here a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday to get my tire fixed because I drove over a nail. Now I noticed this at one job, and only had 1 1/2 hrs to get from Lake Forest to Newport, to go to another job. WOW!!! That's all I can say about this firestone! This is my issue. I rebuilt the front end of my truck so I needed a alignment. I took it to firestone around 1pm and the manager told me that it would take until 6pm (really!?!). After I payed 110 bucks up for my truck, I hopped in and took off. After I made 1 turn I noticed that my truck was in 4wd! I have been in the automotive industry for better that 20+ years and NEVER have I seen a truck in 4wd for a alignment. Not to mention it still pulls to the right and your techs are ase certified, or so you say. Never in a million years will I come back to this place. read more

I had an incredible experience at this Firestone. I needed to 4 new tires and needed them in a hurry because I was riding on a spare, but I only had just over an hour before I needed to be at work. I explained this over the phone to Tom and he said they could make it happen. He was ready for me when I walked in, had all the paperwork figured out and prepared, worked out a great deal, and I was out of there with 4 new tires in less than 45 minutes. I went to Firestone for a tire alignment today. When I walked in I was warmly greeted. They helped me right away. I only went in for the alignment, which I had a lifetime package, so I was not going to spend any money, but that did not change the way I was treated. They did make a few suggestions of things that needed some work on my car, but was just a casual approach and nothing pushy. Tom, the manager, was the primary person I dealt with, but a mechanic that came to finish the paperwork, was really interesting and helpful. He explained a few things to me, and I thought that was pretty cool too. I was in and out in less than an hour and I would absolutely recommend you take your car there based on my experience! read more

I'm of the belief that there are good days and there are bad days. However, it seems like I almost never end up having a good day after visiting this Firestone. Why is that?? I only come here for my lifetime alignment that I purchased at another Firestone many years back. Wait time? Always at least 2.5 hours. Why? I don't understand. I always see plenty of workers in the back just chatting it up, with empty racks without cars on them. It's frustrating. But fine, maybe that's how auto shops work... But there are two situations that I MUST mention: 1). I decided one time to go ahead and accept their recommended services, mainly because I haven't done a full tuneup for a while (spark plugs, transmission flush, coolant, air cabin microfilter, along with a bunch of ther things). I cough up the money, grab my keys, and start driving home. What happens? THERE IS SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDER MY HOOD!!!! This has never happened for the lifetime of the car (at least 8 years at the time). Scared to death, I quickly take it back, they take a look at my car and says, "Oh, that's because the part that we put in doesn't fit your model. You need to buy this better (and more expensive) part". Hello? Did you NOT know it wasn't going to fit my model? Fine, I go ahead and pay for who knows what, they "fix" it, I drive off. Guess what happens 5 miles away? SMOKE AGAIN. You got to be kidding me. I bring it back. Now they say it's another reason. Of course this time I wasn't going to cough up anymore money, and luckily they could tell I wasn't going to take no for an answer. The car was finally fixed the next day, with replacing whatever they messed up on the first time. But still... what kind of auto shop takes in a perfectly working car and hands you back one that's going to catch on fire? 2. This just happened recently. I took my car to another shop for service, then to Firestone for my free alignment. Everything has been working fine and dandy. I was actually lucky -- no recommended services needed this time. They give me back my keys, I start the car and... it DOES NOT START. Not again!! I return to service, and he mentions the guy who was working on my car is out to lunch and I must wait for 20 minutes (really? no one else can look at it??). Then he guesses that my car wasn't starting because "I" tripped a security alarm. Hello -- there IS no security lock on the ignition! I kept telling him that's not the case, in which he responded with, "then it must be your battery". So I say in return, "Then why didn't you recommend me a new battery?" Wouldn't that be the smart thing to do? Eventually the guy who worked on my car came back from lunch, somehow started my car, and away I went. Anything happen after I took it home? NO. All I can say is: whatever they "fixed", they "broke" in the first place. Long story short: DO NOT GO THERE!! Brought my car in for tires because they had the best deal. So for the tires, everything was acceptable. Also needed an Uber inspection and that is where things went south. Todd (service rep who helped me) called to let me know that one of my bearings and ball joints were bad and I could not pass the Uber inspection until the ball joint was replaced for nearly $400. Having recently replaced my brakes, I had just recently inspected these items and knew they were fine. I told him not to proceed with those repairs and immediately went there to see proof. When I got there, my car was on the rack and all tires were off. I asked Todd to show me the bad ball joint me he would have to put the tire back on before he could show me the bad joint. I explained quite obviously that if the tire was on we could not see the ball joint. He gave me a line of BS that I wouldn't be able to see that the joint was bad and that if the tire is on, he could demonstrate the "play". Having replaced ball joints myself I already knew he was trying to con me as ball joints are easily determined bad with a visual inspection. I told him I did not want that repair and just to complete the tire install. THEN he was able to "remember" that he could offer me a more substantial discount on this false repair and took another $50 off the estimate. Of course I declined the generous offer of screwing me for less money and insisted that tires is all I want. Immediately took my car to Discount Tires (another Uber approved inspection center). I asked for the inspection and asked them to take a close look at the bearings and ball joints as I was told at least 1 is bad. Car passed full inspection with no issues and NO BAD BALL JOINTS OR BEARINGS! Firestone obviously used the Uber inspection to strongarm me into unnecessary repairs. Bad business from a huge chain like Firestone. They felt the need to screw me even after I just spent nearly $500 on tires. It was refreshing that Discount Tires told me the truth for the small $20 Uber inspection fee even after I told them "I thought" 1 of the ball joints was bad. read more

Made an appointment at 9:30 this morning, got here early and still haven't left yet. It's been almost 2 hours. Horrible service. It was for an oil change, that should take only 30 minutes; however, my car sat in a parking spot for over 30 minutes. Making an appointment should've helped, but looks like they just lost a customer. read more

I had a 9:00 AM appointment to service the brakes on my car at this Firestone Store. By 11:00 AM the car had not moved from where I parked it. I sat next to a man that had a 8:30 AM oil change appointment. At 11:00 AM he was still waiting for his car to be serviced. I suggest that, if they can't honor appoints don't make them. I left very disappointed and will now get my breaks serviced somewhere else. read more

I used to come here often because my buddy's uncle was the manager. I knew he wouldn't screw me over. Since then, I'm done with this place. I asked for a quote to change 4 spark plugs on my Altima. $450? I asked why so much. "Oh, the plugs are difficult to get to, it's a lot of labor." YouTube video showed me otherwise. With the correct tools, it's literally a 20 minute job. 15 minutes maybe. I was also quoted near $300 to change headlights and floodlights. Outrageous. I'm fine with paying someone for their time and labor but give me a break. I'll come here for tires, but not much else. read more

I have been coming back to this service center for years now. Each time the managers and service technicians have been friendly, courteous and professional. They take the time to fully explain all the details not only of the work, but of the billing, discounts, rebates, etc. They always work on the car as soon as possible, if not immediately. I am generally not a fan of major chain service providers - but, Firestone Complete Auto Care, El Toro, defies the stereotypes. Sterling Whitaker, store manager, and Ryan one of his techs went above and beyond providing a level of service which is rare and definitely stands out in the crowded and competitive field of tire and auto service. My daughter was out on vacation and had dealer service for an oil change and the dealer said they wouldn't rotate her tires because they were so severely worn. Firestone was selected because they had the tire size avail. and my daughter had a coupon. Sterling confirmed the tires needed replacement and recommended an alignment because of the wear pattern. We specifically requested no additional inspections or service as the tires were already an unplanned expense and my daughter was not planning to spend her vacation getting car repairs. When we picked up the car Ryan told us the oil filter seemed to be leaking and it needed to get fixed ASAP. The dealer was already closing and couldn't deal with it until the following week. In a panic we asked what Firestone would charge to fix it and we get the dealer to reimburse us. To our shock, amazement and surprise, Firestone said they would take care of it at no charge. Ryan pulled the skid plate cleaned the oil leaks from the plate and underside and replaced the filter and topped off the oil. That is old-school customer service at its best. Kudos to Sterling for his building a customer centered team and for Ryan's attentive service. You are the best!!! read more

On a rainy evening after work, I had a flat tire(life can be so 'exciting' sometimes!) and my spare had a slow leak...needless to say, I needed immediate assistance. I happened to see the store was still open after 7:30 pm and asked the Service Manager, Myles, if they could help me. He said the shop had to close but he was kind enough to call the local Firestone Shop at Laguna Hills Mall(by JC Penny) and spoke directly to the Store Manager, Bert Serrano. He assured me they would take care of me and also confirmed the tire size I needed was in stock. They went above and beyond to extend their time, after closing, to ensure my safety. I was very impressed with Myles' integrity and the time he spent trying to help me. read more

This place is horrible I went in for a oil change, get my brakes done and I was going to get new tires as well. So after 2 hours of wondering around the center they (on my paper it says Ryan was working on my car?) called me and told me the tires would be like $600 when my aunt had just gone in there two weeks prior and got the tires for $260. After we told him to just do the brakes and oil change and to check the air filter and put windshield wiper fluid in ... When I get into my car afterwards I pressed for my windshield wipers to clean my window. No water or nothing in it. Then the air filter box clip was broken all the sudden and was not bolted back down. I will never go here again. I would give this place a 0 if i could. but the associate sterling was kind at the time. Heads up guys don't use this location! read more

Went here last month to have my car inspected before driving it to San Francisco. I have never, ever been able to take my car anywhere without having to be told that it needs $300+ of work done to it. It's been driving just fine for 5 years. Not sure if I just go to the wrong places or what, but I'm no longer even remotely surprised when I'm told there are a bunch of things wrong with my car. So after getting the 40 or 50 point inspection, it was no surprise to me when they told me there were a lot of things wrong with it. I took home my nice, 10 page stack of printed pages, which listed a recommended $1,300 worth of work and showed it to my neighbor. He is a mechanic, has always looked at my family's cars, and usually does small repairs on the side for no charge, just parts. I would trust him with anything. He explained that my printed pages were not "necessary" work and that the most pressing issue, an expanded hose, he could fix himself if I went and purchased the part. My quoted price with labor from Firestone was about $89-$100 for the hose issue. I paid $13 for the hose at AutoZone and he put it in for free. But.....the real kicker is, when we lifted the hood on my car after driving it back from Firestone, we found a lovely surprise. Whoever had "inspected" my car, forgot to put the cap back on my brake fluid container. It was just sitting, right on the side of the engine, probably held in place by the pressure of the hood while I was driving. I'm just happy it didn't fall down, through the engine and get lost on my way home. I was disappointed in my lengthy report of mostly unecessary repairs, but even more disappointed in discovering how little attention was paid to my car when it was inspected. read more

Firestone Complete Auto Care? More like, Firestone complete rip off! Brought my car in with a coupon, to have them look at my air conditioning because it was not blowing cold air. After waiting several hours, they told me they could not find a leak, so they put dye in with the Freon and told me to come back in a couple of weeks and only charge me $135. I drove my car for three weeks and my air conditioner was working beautifully the entire time. When I returned for my next visit, they determined the leak was in my evaporator. This required the entire dashboard be removed in order to reach the evaporator and it would cost $1100.00 to fix. Sam gave me a detailed description, with a diagram and everything, of what was involved. I made an appointment for the following day. As I drove away I found it odd my air-conditioner was no longer working. Clearly, they removed the Freon I had paid for on my previous visit. I brought my car back the next morning to have them do the repair, but something didn't feel right... Couldn't quite put my finger on it... I just got a bad feeling. I decided not to leave my car and told them I wanted to get a second opinion. Brought my car to another repair shop and was told, there was nothing wrong with my air conditioner, it just needed Freon! This shop also told me, there is no leak! They did the dye test as well. The owner of the shop said to me, "I think those guys (at Firestone) were trying to take advantage of you". I will never trust Firestone again! They tried, but fortunately failed to rip me off of $1100.00. Unfortunately, they did rip me off of $135. because they removed the Freon I had paid for. Lesson learned! I have been to this Firestone in the past and the only reason I used them is because I have their credit card. But never again. I brought my car in to have checked and I was told it was the Mass Air Flow Sensor. The re manufactured Sensor was $300.00. Just for the part. They charged me $100.00 for diagnostic which most shops drop if they do the work. It took exactly 30 seconds to find the problem. Then they charged me another $30..00 to install it which took exactly 10 seconds. After I picked up my car and went home I went on line to check the price of the sensor. The price if I purchased the sensor at a store would have been $79.00.They marked up the part Price350%. What a rip. I called the shop to complain and got well, a, I don't know. No straight answer. Their favorite diagnostic answer is you need a tune up. Twice they told me that until once I told them I just had one and the other time I told them you just did a tune up 3 months ago. That's why they keep all of the repairs the do on your care logged on the computer so they don't get caught trying to sell you duplicate repairs. You never leave there without paying at least $300 or $400 for repairs Firestone shops are the most exspensive repair shops around. Check out their prices. They have to make up for the exploding tires that they put on the Ford Explores and had to replace BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE read more
