I usually have a good experience here. But today, not so much. They told me that they would have to take off the screws and then couldn't put it back. They showed me one of the screws that they say were stripped. Since I've only come here for oil changes (and once at the College Hill Valvoline), and I don't change my own oil, it had to be Valvoline themselves in the past who stripped the bolts and put on the zip ties, without telling me there was a problem. And their only solution was to chop off the bolts? They don't have any replacement bolts they could use? They did ask if I wanted the oil changed, before they took off the skid plate. I did agree, because I needed an oil change and, yes, they did the work. They said that the car probably would be okay without a skid plate. When I asked if the problem was that they don't have the bolts or if the problem is a bad skid plate, they replied that it's "either" that they don't have the plates or the skid plate is bad. Huh? In other words, they don't really know which is wrong, and didn't care to go the extra mile & try to find out and try to replace my skid plate. They really weren't that concerned that I was losing a car part here and a protection for the underside of my car, nor did they really take responsibility for the problem. And it wasn't an easy communication: the person handling the case spoke very quickly, with poor enunciation in between his words, so I needed to keep telling him to slow down & speak clearer. He hadn't really learned how to use a "customer voice." For the price, not sure I got good value here. I lost a skid plate, & will need to go back to my dealer to get a new one put on. (Correction: after calling the dealer, I went back and got the skid plate, which Valvoline had already thrown in the dumpster, and the dealer is going to see if they can put it back on, using Honda's bolts). As I said, I usually get good service here, but am totally unimpressed by the current crew they have working there.

Had a garaged car that had a tire go flat. AAA towed it because the tire wouldn't hold air. All…read moretires still had great tread life, but this one failed. When Gavin called me, he cited a LAW in Ohio and said it was "illegal for those tires to be on the road." That's a lie. A. LIE. I investigated and went to various Ohio government websites. It was a lie. Talked to another repair shop. Still a lie. Now, to be fair, it might be a TD POLICY, but it isn't a law. On top of that, Gavin stated that the tread on the tires was "pretty low." But the tread depths were between 5-7/32 on the four tires. Nothing to be concerned about, and most definitely NOT "pretty low." Gavin tried to sell me FOUR (4) new tires. Now let's say that TD has a POLICY that they won't repair a tire. Fine. But if only the front right had issues, then AT MOST, Gavin should have been selling me two new tires for the front (so the car would ride evenly). I certainly didn't need four. And despite asking him for the cheapest tire they sold, when I got home and checked their website, there was a cheaper tire that would work with the car. When I went to the store to retrieve my key so we could have the tire replaced elsewhere, I found that the car had never been moved. They never even bothered to put it on a lift and see what the issue was. Once inside, I told Hunter (boss?) about Gavin's lie. Hunter backed him up and said Gavin may have mispoke, but that it was a regulation and "every tire shop" he's ever worked at has to follow that regulation. After getting the key, I came home and researched that statement further. Not true. Here is a link https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-1345.022 . If this is a TD policy, then just say that. "Hey, we won't work on older tires because we don't want to get sued if the tire fails after we repair it." That makes perfect sense. But don't lie. And don't keep pushing all-season tires on me when I've told you the car sits in the garage and doesn't need them. Today TD lost my whole family's business. And I'll be telling all my friends. I don't know if they thought a young girl (it's my daughter's car) or just a woman (me) was gullible or if TD has such hard commission quotas for its staff that they end up lying to customers. Either way, it's unacceptable. (Oh, and a highly respected repair shop in town wanted to look at the tire before selling me any new ones, stating that he might be able to fix it. And I told him how old the tires were, and he said age shouldn't be the only factor considered.) I will never go back to any Tire Discounters. Ever. Oh, and the reputable shop found the issue. The center piece had warped over time and merely needed to be sanded so it was round again and would seal tightly against the tire. No more leak. No new tires necessary (Gavin!!). And all for $40. Thanks for nothing, Tire Discounters.
