It was just for an oil change, we had a coupon so we decided to try Honest. The oil change itself and the service were fine, with no issues. The cost was an issue. The flyer stated $46.95* - turns out our car is an exotic European vehicle so the final total was $110 (we got $20 off for having the coupon) $130 oil change? That's insane. We took our 2013 Honda Fit in for a low tire and rattles under the hood. Dropped off the car at the appointed time, they provided me with a shuttle home with a friendly driver and gave us a call after finding the problem with the cost to repair. Got the car back the same day and a shuttle back to pick up the car,and another friendly driver. Our little car is noise free and running on all fours again. Being new in town and currently unemployed I always appreciate an honest mechanic. I have been here twice; once for an alternator and the other for a wheel bearing. Each time they were honest, timely and did a great job. Update: took my car in again today as my check engine light came on over the weekend. I went in at 7:15am with no appointment, they took my car in right away, spent an hour on it and NO CHARGE. Explained why it happened and told me to come back if I had any issues. Great Experience. About 2 years ago I had my son's car serviced at Honest -1 for a water pump replacement. on this specific car it is a heavy labor project so was not inexpensive. fast forward by two years and we again needed to have the car repaired. When I took it back to Honest-1 they found that the water pump had failed again, and instead of telling me that I was going to have to pay for the entire repair again, they told me that they would be covering the entire repair this time under warranty... including labor, etc. In short, they stood behind their work and charged me noting to get the car back up and running. I have and have had a lot of cars over the years and have dealt with a lot of repair places. been here multiple times for oil changes etc, thats about the only thing I'd come here for had a issue with my car to where it would basically go into "limp mode". after talking with them they seemed certain it was from a vacuum leak that kept coming up on the scanner, that was a 900$ fix somehow even tho they only replaced one vacuum line and the vacuum pump rubber grommets, then after picking the car up and driving away the same issue popped up? after turning around and taking it back they tried to charge me another 900$ saying my exhaust was the issue. They didn't even drive my car to test drive after putting the new part in and said I was good to go, after weeks of no car and searching google for 30 minutes I found others saying It was the throttle body, 65$ and 2 hours later my car has been running fine no issues. still has the exhaust leak too To sum it up they took my money didn't fix the issue then tried to charge me more to not fix the issue. terrible place to take your cars if it's not a oil change or simple tire replacement mechanics only use the scanners and don't have basic knowledge of cars I guess. read more

I use Honest - 1 just for oil changes as they are very pricey for normal repairs. Last year they quoted $2,500 for some various repairs I needed which I thought was high so I contacted my car dealer. The dealer, which are much higher than a local shop most of the time want $1,400 for repairs which I thought was reasonable. Last week after an oil change I knew the front brakes were about gone so asked for a quote. $750 just for brake pads and hardware. The front pads and hardware should be around $70 tops plus labor. I also knew that they will not turn the rotors and will only replace them and one was scored. I could do this my self but just didn't want to mess with it so took it to "Brakes For Less" shop which I have used before. Complete 4 wheel brake job with new rotors for $500 with a 60,000 mile warranty. They are just too high on repairs. read more

I think they are more often than not fair on their prices. Obviously they are way out of touch on some things..... for example They told me it would cost 400 bucks to replace my car battery and like 800 bucks for 4 55,000 mile tires lol. Needless to say i had this work down for much much much cheaper a few miles up the street. They told me it would be 970 for an oil pan replacement. Disappointed in the quote provided to replace an upstream O2 sensor. Quoted 485$ for the part and 75$ for 2 hours labor. Found a suitable part for $170 locally and OEM part online for $110. Replaced it myself in under 1 hour including YouTube video search. Check engine light was resolved. It's a modern era, for a simple repair job, don't over charge or your customers will find simpler solutions. I won't go to 1 star as the oil change I had was done fairly and with quality at a good price, but felt like a bait and switch with the proposed price for the O2 sensor replacement. read more

We were looking for a used car at the Kings Auto Mall and was referred to Honest 1 by a friend for a used car inspection. The location itself is probably the cleanest garage I have ever been to. The staff was super nice and had free coffee, drinks and snacks available. They spent about an hour on my car and looked everything thoroughly. The car I was buying was a pre-owner certified car and was supposed to have a used car inspection already. Honest 1 found a problem with an estimated $1,400 repair cost!! Update to my recent review. With an oil change, tire rotation is not included as I said. It is an additional 15$. Other oil change places do not charge for that, brake check, tire inflation. Excellent service. Very fair. The staff at H1 approach a repair challenge like they are looking out for the customer, to find the best and most affordable option. In our last visit, we could easily have been taken for the cost of a whole new power steering pump, but our tech suggested we try replacing only the seal- saving us hundreds and earning H1 our trust and repeat business. Had a great experience at Honest-1 auto repair. Went there to get a second opinion on needing new brake pads. Was told by a tech at Jiffy Lube that I needed new pads. These folks are very friendly and do great work. However they do try to up sale you with very high priced repairs. And they aren't exactly completely Honest, don't get me wrong their oil change prices can't be beat but, they try to explain a hazardous materials charge as a fee the government "makes them charge " in order to dispose of the oil. I owed an oil change facility the government DOES NOT make you charge that. In fact they get paid for their used oil pick ups. So they make money on you for the fee and they make money by selling your used oil. Therefore the $20 oil change turns into a $28 oil change. Like I said it is still an excellent price and can't be beat. But be honest to your customers about the fees these are fees you charge to offset your expenses. read more

First time I came to this mechanic was because my radio cut out. They said it would be $80 just to take off the radio front to fix the problem. Turns out he fuse behind the radio just became unplugged so they didn't charge me anything! Next time I needed them my car wouldn't start. I had gotten a ride to work and took my keys with me so they sent someone downtown to pick up the key and put it in my car for the tow truck to take my car to their shop. They even offered to give me a ride home from work! This place is the best I would highly recommend bringing your vehicle here! read more

Let me start by saying that the rating would be higher if I didn't feel somewhat duped by their flyer. Being a novice about cars, I thought "synthetic blend" meant synthetic. An oil change with synthetic oil at the price offered was going to be a great deal and they'd have won my business for life. But, as usual, I was mistaken. I could have gone to Honda and spent less (and they even gave me a $20 discount here). Not really sure how to rate an oil change. Have to assume it was performed competently. Receptionist was very friendly and the waiting room was nice. I appreciated the free coffee and the ability to change the channel. I also appreciated that they didn't even try to up-sell me extra services. Honda ALWAYS does. I will say they treated my daughter (new car owner who went there alone) very fairly and that speaks volumes about their integrity. But I can't spend $50 on an oil change, especially now that my car is older and I'm doing the changes more frequently to keep the engine running well. If I need bigger work done I would come here to get an estimate. Just probably won't come back for an oil change. read more

As my third review of Honest-1, I repeat my previous praises of this place. I am always treated with consistent kindness and as a valued customer. I have been a strong advocate for this place due to always having my needs met at anytime. This visit I enjoyed their comfortable lounge area to work on my computer as my repairs were completed. Although my wait time was short (about 45 minutes), I could relax with complimentary snacks and drinks. A new addition to their great customer service was a discount for cash, the lowest pricing on new tires, and a yummy snack with nice note left in my car for my drive home. Great job Honest-1!
