Overall it's a pretty okay experience. Prices are not the best or worst, but the time you will be here is crazy. All the times I'm here is about an 1 hour and 30 minutes. Note this is for only an alignment to be done. I'm always told 30 to 45 minutes but it's always longer. Today was "slow" and yet I'm here making this message when I dropped off my car at 5:10. It's now 6:30 and it's now getting worked on from what I overheard. They do amazing work don't get me wrong but the time it takes is kinda crazy. If there was a way to rate them negative stars, I would. I arrived at 1:15pm with a flat tire on a loose rim. I brought it in and was helped by Reese. I explained to him that I had a rim and tire warranty, provided him the contract number, phone number, and my vehicle information. He said he would contact them and get it squared away. I was thrilled at this point. Fast forward to 3:45 pm, I returned to see if it was complete. It hadn't been touched. I assumed the story would be that they were busy and hadn't got to it yet or something. That was not the case. I got a story about how Reese called the warranty company and waited on hold for 30 mins, then got transferred and then put on hold for 40 more minutes and then hung up on. There was no attempt to contact me to update me to let me know. There was no attempt to try again. Just threw his hands up and gave it the ole "i tried." So, as I had called them already that morning to let them know I was going to open a claim, I knew the wait time wasn't longer than 5 minutes. So, standing in front of Reese, I called the warranty company and was immediately helped by a nice woman on the phone. I handed the phone to Reese so he could interface directly and convey the information necessary to begin working on my rim and tire. After about 10 minutes, he handed the phone back and said he was all set. I confirmed he was all set with the woman who was still pleasantly on the phone who told me, the claim was authorized and, if the rim was damaged, it was also covered. So, I looked at Reese and confirmed it back to her out loud, "the claim is authorized." To which, Reese nodded in agreement. I told him, I would return later after I picked up my kids. Fast forward again to 6:45pm. I returned to what I thought would be my completed tire/rim. It, again, hadn't been touched. I got the same story about hold and wait times. Apparently, Reese couldn't find a vendor number to charge the job to and again, threw his hands up when presented with a challenge instead of asking his coworkers or manager. I attempted to call the warranty company again, as I had done before, but they were now closed for the weekend. So, now I would need to wait until Reese, the incompetent tire technician, could contact them on MONDAY to ascertain this mysterious vendor number. I asked him why he didn't just call me, to which he replied, "I did, 3 times." I showed him the distinct lack of missed calls on my call log and he then read back the incorrect number from the computer. The fun part about this is that when he wrote it down at 1:15pm, I had corrected his incorrect transcription of my number on the paper he used to transfer the information into the system with. I verified it was correct on the paper before leaving. It happened to be the very same paper he wrote the number of the warranty company and contract number on. Now, I get to waste more of my time on Monday on a job that could have been done in 30 minute today if I had just had even a semi-competent tire technician. Do not let Reese touch your car. If he's as incompetent at working on your tires as he is at simple task like inputting information into a computer, confirming information is correct, using a phone to call people, and telling customers the truth, your car will likely catch on fire as soon as you leave. read more

They refused to align my car even though I purchased the lifetime alignment. They mentioned that I had rust on one of the bolts/ bars but after further inspection they refuse to service my car even though I've had it done multiple times. Upon further inspection my regular mechanic laughed and said that they do this often so they don't service your car after a few times. He put my car up and gave me a break down of what they found troubling. Found this to be quite the joke to be honest. Just refund me this lifetime crap if you're going to make up some thing every time and refuse service. They quoted me around $800 to align my car and replace "tie rods" which were absolutely fine Save your money and avoid a major headache with people and business like this. I am not stupid nor appreciate being lied to for a couple dollars. They will not help you, they'll only sell you on things and under deliver. read more

I have a very good attitude towards all the employees of this Firestone auto repair shop, besides, they are located close to me, in my family not one or two cars, but many more, so I have to go to the auto repair shop often. I scheduled an appointment for a state emission test and upon arrival received their estimate for $30.00. However after waiting for over an hour and declining over $1,300.00in additional service work they demeaned necessary for a vehicle with 37000 mile, but not needed to pass the safety or emission testing of my vehicle. I finally received a $40.00 invoice for a state emission inspection. The extra $10.00 was to inspect the degree of tint on the factory installed windows on my vehicle. However, when I asked why and when these additional charges began (last 7 years never been charged) I was told he did not know because he is from South Carolina. According to the published state inspection fees, the additional fees to inspect tinted windows only applies to aftermarket window tinting NOT factory installed tinted windows. Finally I was informed if I had a problem with their invoice, I can call back and ask to speak with Tony, who was not there. When BMW told me that my car needed a new battery, new tires, a new engine mount, an alignment, and a new suspension, since the suspension was damaged, I came here to get a second opinion. My experience here was a mix of things that could have gone better, but also people who went above and beyond to make it right. I usually go to a different Firestone, but this one was closer to me and I have a long roadtrip coming up so needed to make my car ready while under time constraints and work. I had brought in my car for several services, two of which I had lifetime on. However, my car & service history was not coming up (it has happened at other locations before) so I provided e-copies I saved from the last time for reference. Anthony, the guy at the counter, was wonderful in getting all my requests straightened out and even helping me get a better coupon applied to my oil change, and assisting me when my Firestone card was not going through my calling Customer Service (they never found the issue as once CS was on the line, it went through fine). He even let me know about a $50 credit for Firestone cardholders via the website before I left. I had a weird noise my car was making and needed it sussed out. I was called about a couple of hrs after my basic services were completed and the guy who called me, Will, stated they had found the issue, but they didn't know if it was going to be two very expensive things, or just the one less expensive repair. I told him that expensive one (for both) was way too much, and asked if I could just get the one repair w/o the other. He said yes, but wouldn't recommend it; but that he didn't know if the more expensive one was an issue because they hadn't gotten that far yet. I told him to keep my posted and if it was gonna be the more expensive to let me know, that I would go with only the one less expensive repair. He also said they wouldn't be able to finish same-day either way, so they would need to keep the car overnight, but it would be done by "lunchtime" the next day. I never got a call back and when I called the following day after still not hearing anything by noon, the tech that completed the work had just "forgotten" to submit it as complete, so my car had been sitting done for a few hours by the time I called! I also never got notified what they completed both repairs, but assumed since I had told Will I didn't want the more expensive repair if the less expensive one could be completed, that's what had happened. Long story short, the manager Tony, made things right and credited me the labor for the more expensive repair that they had done w/o notifying me as they should have before completing it, which was fair, and I appreciated him making a good faith correction. Also, my battery was apparently not holding a charge, and this was not told to me when I picked the car up, but found out when the car would not start when I went to leave. They gave me a jump and I was on my way because I had to get back to work and didn't have time to look into things further. I'm not sure I'd bring it back here because of all the communication issues, but I did appreciate the level of customer service to wrong the rights, which is sadly a rarity nowadays. read more

I got new rotors and pads installed Tuesday, Thursday I noticed a sound so I went to brake and my peddle was on the floor yet the truck did not have pressure to stop. After pulling into the gas station I then noticed the caliper off the rotor as pictured. On top of that today I have found a lug nut loose on my driver front tire. I visited the Firestone location at 1601 Matthews-Mint Hill Road 3/12/25 and had a terrific service appointment. Tony Rodriguez was outstanding! I didn't realize there are 3 Firestone locations in Matthews, NC. I called yesterday and made an appointment for 10 am today. However, the location I showed up at this morning apparently wasn't the location in Matthews that I booked the appointment. However, Tony accepted my appointment for a front end alignment and was in and out in less than 75 minutes. For those who complain about the online appointment system, as I understand it, it's a third party system that doesn't always communicate with the shop to ensure the appointment is confirmed. Call the shop you want to go to directly and make the appointment on the phone, confirm the shop address before arriving in case there are multiple locations in that city and you're all set. Terrible experience! Driving through from out of town and our vehicle started running bad. Pulled in to this location so relieved to see that they had ZERO cars in and bays and one car in the parking lot! And the hours when I called said they were open for two more hours. My husband went in tot will them what was happening and could they replace our spark plugs and they said no they were about to close! They would not help us at all!!!! Terrible!!!! I took my car to the Firestone location on Matthews-Mint Hill Road because they were open on the weekends and I needed my car on Monday for an important medical appointment. Not only did they not once call me about the progress as promised, I received misinformation when I did call. They told me they needed to keep it on Sunday so their best mechanic could confirm the diagnosis. When I called on Sunday, the master mechanic wasn't even working that day. On Monday, the "master mechanic" misdiagnosed the problem and recommended $1100 of unneeded repairs. I took it to my regular place the next day where they diagnosed and repaired my car properly for less than half of what Firestone would have charged. They may be fine for simple, regular maintenance, but if you need proper diagnosis of an issue, go somewhere else! read more

Look if that was my forte I would do all this myself well maybe not .... And you know what? Everyone that I spoke with while there said the same thing when I asked" have you been here before?" Five hours later I was so irritated after having been told 2 times that it was only a half hour more at hour 2 and at hour 3 that I just simply walked over to the mechanics to ask them how much longer. To which they replied, "We are just finishing the alignment now." I NEVER asked for an alignment!!! Guy at front desk said he would make it up to me by giving it to me for free but at the rate they were going I probably wouldn't have gotten my car back until the next day. Today was my first visit to this location. The great customer service started before I even arrived. I called requesting an appointment for today and was told there wasn't room in the schedule for an oil change, four new tires, and a possible alignment. I was offered an appointment for tomorrow morning, and I explained that I really needed the work done today. He took my name and number and offered to call me back, if someone called to cancel or was a no show. He called back about 45 minutes later and gave me an appointment for the afternoon. All of the staff I encountered were professional and very friendly. Being a woman alone and new to the area, I really appreciated the fact that I never felt pressured by upselling. I was confused when the gentleman was explaining the alignment packages, and he took his time to explain it to me again and talk it out with me. I had already done my research online and feel I was given a fair price for the service provided. The lobby area was clean, with a television and magazines. I had no problem staying and waiting for my car. I will be back, and I would recommend this location to friends. read more

I was taken... The slipped in an extended tire warrant on me without asking me. It was $20 per tire. I didnt notice till I was at my car and the service person went on and on trying to explain the value of the warranty and could not understand that I dont want it and it was slipped in without being asked. They were also pushing front end alignments a lot that day. While I was there, every customer was told it was recommended that they get a front end alignment, regardless of what they were in for. At least they asked me about that and didnt just put it on the bill without asking. read more

I had made an appointment for a tire alignment and they took my car right on schedule. The alignment is very good now and that's all that was needed or recommended. I overheard instructions to someone who may have been a new employee and the gist was that the customer gets only what they need and that the work should be carefully verified both for need and that the repair was performed correctly. The manager/service writer seems very concerned in doing things right! The waiting area is pretty bare and a small desk and outlet would have been welcome. my son made an appointment with the service writers at Matthews-Mint Hill Rd. Firestone with Dan(awesome mechanic),for an alignment and rotation for the tires. they told him Dan would be in to work on car. He brings it on Sat and no Dan? they told him Dan would be in Sunday, so my son said keep the car for tomorrow for Dan. Sunday comes and we call and they said the car was done. My son picked it up and they did an oil change too, which happened to be ok, But Dan was NOT the one to work on the car. If they were honest and forthcoming, they could have called us and said Dan was not there and somebody else will work on car. My son went to pay for oil change with a coupon and the desk person "Will" said in a condescending and disrespectful tone, "well ok I will take your coupon and take the $18 discount off", Like my son was stupid. Less than 6 months ago, I purchased a Lifetime alignment package with a tire purchase at another Charlotte area location(Park Rd.). Everything was great until two days ago, when I called for a wait estimate on getting the alignment done. When I went to the location nearest my home off of Lawyers Rd exit (7806 Stevens Mill Rd) where I was told on the phone it would be an 1.5 hour wait, I was informed the alignment machine was broken and told to go to a different location(the Matthews-Mint hill Rd. location near Independence). After arriving at the location specific to this review, I was told that there was a 3 hour wait and that they were short staffed (totally understandable). The sales teammate (Paul Yates) was irritated that the previous shop location didn't call to let them know I would be coming and to check on a wait time. This being one of my days off, I said that I would wait for the vehicles completion. After two hours, I was informed that I needed to replace my inner and outer "Tie Rods" which were "Frozen" and unable to be adjusted for proper alignment, at the additional cost of about $250. I provided him the paperwork from my vehicles initial alignment, which showed only 6k miles had been driven since the initial alignment and tire purchase. The Before and After alignment sheet was printed in Black and white but had all of the measurements clearly printed on the sheet. Mr Yates(who appeared to also be the supervisor at the time) said the initial print out could not be used for comparison to today's measurements (to determine how far out of alignment it was) because it was "blank"(really not blank, simply not in color). He insisted that his mechanic could not make the needed adjustment unless the tie rods were replaced. I asked what if any measures had been taken (like putting heat to the "frozen threads") and he said none could be taken without damaging the Rods further. I told him that this vehicle was just aligned less than 6 months and 6K mi previous by another store and that if he was telling me that it could not be aligned, I would like to have the lifetime alignment package switched to my other vehicle. He said that this could not be done (also contradicting what I was told when purchasing the service, as long as it was within the first year, and had either wrecked or sold the vehicle that the service was purchased for.) He said "If that's what you were told, then maybe you should go to that shop to have it switched". Fast forward to the next day (my second day off for the week) and I had returned to the location of original purchase off of Park Rd. in Charlotte (the opposite side of town for me). I explained my frustration, and they said "no problem, we will check it out". About 45 min later, my vehicle was properly aligned with "no issues with the Tie Rods". This meant no need to switch the service to another vehicle, and the proper service was completed. In short, this Matthews-mint hill rd. location of Firestone has either incompetent mechanics or are really trying to take advantage of customers. I get it that a lifetime service doesn't profit any location other than the location that sells the service, but to falsify "needed rapairs" to make a profit on an unprofitable service request is dishonest. The fact that the manager tried to say my documentation was blank, simply because it was not in color shows either his ignorance or belief that all customers are totally clueless. I could clearly see that only a minor adjustment to the left front left toe and caster needed adjustment. The Park Rd service man thought that was very incompetent as well. If I could add photos to this review, I surely would just to show you all how blatant the disregard was. I, obviously do not recommend this location for servicing your vehicle. I do highly recommend the Park Rd. Location if that is convenient for you! read more

I walked into the Matthews Firestone location looking to get my fathers' car fixed a few weeks ago and was amazed at the service I received. I walked in and expected to be treated poorly like every other auto repair shop but to my surprise, I was treated like family. The manager, Cornelius, greeted me with a smile and warm greeting upon walking in. Most shops barely make eye contact with you let alone acknowledge you. He took the time to listen to my worries and issues and assured me that he would find a solution. When other shops were telling me I needed to have so many things on father's car fixed, Cornelius had a full diagnostic check done, and showed me what it cost to fix each issue. More importantly, he took time to understand that my father drives cross country in winter conditions and that some concerns were more important to us than others. There was no pressure to fix everything just the most important and urgent issues which would let him travel safe and sound. The price was much less than everywhere else and we were out of there within 1.5 hours. I will take all of my business to Firestone as long as Cornelius is there. Highly recommended, you cannot always find someone in this industry you can trust and count on, but you can with him. read more
