I recently had my car serviced at another vendor. I also got new tires. I noticed the alignment was off after getting the service and tires, so I made an online appointment with Firestone. I showed up for my Saturday morning appointment and was informed they had a staffing challenge that day so could I reschedule? I was fine rescheduling and chose a less busy time later in the week. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly and immediately felt at ease and respected. (This is something I am acutely aware of in the field of car repairs.) The gentleman at the counter was friendly and helpful. I also noticed he wasn't dirty from working on the cars. Service was quick, courteous, and priced competitively. I was impressed that I was in and out in less than an hour. The waiting room was clean with a benign comedy show on the television, rather than divisive news programming. I was happy with the alignment and how I was treated so I definitely recommend this Firestone and I will be back in the future. read more

AWFUL EXPERIENCE. I took my jeep here on a Saturday morning. i let the service team know that the check engine light came on the night before. I took my car to AutoZone first. They ran a free diagnostic and it came back as I needed new spark plugs. I let them know that at Firestone and the man I spoke with said, " That's not helpful because it could be a bigger issue." I took that as they are going to determine why the check engine light turned on. They charged me 800 dollars and changed my spark plugs and the check engine light is still on. Not once did they ever call me to tell me that I had another issue that is causing the check engine light to stay on. Also, when I called back to express me concerns, they weren't able to take any accountability. HIGHLY RECOMMEND going someone else for auto repairs/services. read more

Buyer Beware!!@ This Firestone has a dirty little trick. They like to play you will need a state inspection. They will tell you you need brake pads after they overcharge you for the brake pad. Their dirty mechanics we'll heat up your front rotors till they're warped.You will drive your car away and you won't notice anything. To get on the interstate when your car steering wheel will start shaking. That's when you might bring it back to him and they'll tell you you have a whole another problem. read more

The blower fan went out on my truck. I brought the truck in and told them I need the blower fan replaced. They said they would diagnose the issue with my truck, several days later they told me that I need a new fuse box for my truck and I needed to take it to the dealer to get it fixedI drove around for several days without a/c before I had time to buy a blower fan myself and install it. To start, this is the 1st one star yelp review I have ever written. I've have been to the Firestone in the Hidenwood shopping center twice before, both times for a new state inspection within the past 3 years. And both times they have tried to charge me extra in parts for my car and wouldn't pass me until I paid for those parts. The 1st time I was charged $90 for an AIR FILTER! Unfortunately I just paid the fine because I trusted them to tell the truth, until later when my dad told me they are $10 at auto zone! The 2nd time they tried to charge me $80 for new wipers, and yet when i mentioned it significantly cheaper at autozone it somehow brought my total down to 15 dollars for new wipers. They also tried to charge me for a state inspection and a full car inspection, I may be wrong but are they not the same thing? My car has been in the shop for a state inspection since Thursday and it is currently Sunday. And on top of this when I went to pick up my car they were really rude to me and didn't even know where my car was parked. read more

Ok I've been debating writing this for a few days but I'm doing it. Went for a state inspection and let myself get scalped $80. I get they have to make their money somewhere, but I didn't realize this mechanic was asking me to let him replace a lightbulb for $80. Yes- $80 to change a $3 light bulb. $77 in labor. For a part that takes maybe 5 minutes tops to swap out. Among other services they recommended: -replace battery for $250. Nope, mine was just done less than 2 years ago. This dude made me feel stupid for saying no (if it's that bad, should be covered under warranty). -replace cabin air filter. No- just did that a month ago (did they even look?). I don't like starting fights, but I had to draw the line at a perfectly good battery. If you're new to the area, maybe try a different mechanic that isn't trying to waste your time and money. Feel bad for letting this happen to me, but will learn from this experience. read more

Dropped my car off on a Friday at 0800 for a simple state inspection. The shop did not have my truck inspected and ready for pickup until 1100 that same Sunday. On top of being the slowest place in the area to get your vehicle inspected . They rejected it for a long list of items that were not in fact unserviceable. Among the items were my wiper blades which at the time on inspection were barely 2 weeks old. Avoid this place at all costs if you want a timely inspection conducted. If it's too late and you already have, don't let them lie to you and try and take thousands of dollars from you in maintenance that is not in fact required. read more

Staff are nice, what is going on with the technicians? At this Firestone and the one in Yorktown my alignment has been worse after getting tires rotated and aligned. Yorktown I had it for dealer service 2 days after having it aligned and the dealer called to say the alignment was off. This time at Newport News my car got a bunch of check status lights after I left the shop and the steering wheel was way off ( to go straight the wheel had to be turned heavily to the right). The front desk guy had them realign it but said the front was really far from being aligned. Plus having to sit for 2 hours on a additional day to get them to fix their work. Just upsetting that you can not rely on the work done. read more

Ultimately overpriced and dishonest, with repairs costing more than claimed, attempts at offering additional charges (including a lifetime warranty for a 14 year old car), and services taking longer than expected. Ultimately, I think this is due to incompetence rather than ill intent, but I'd advise against going to this location. read more

This shop is terrible! I left my truck there for a broken battery terminal. They manager, Karl, called and said the key I left for the vehicle did not work, thus they could not open it to get to the battery terminal for repair. He said he tried it himself. I called a locksmith, who went to the store and used the key to open the truck. The locksmith even showed them that the key worked. The locksmith even said they should reimburse me for this charge in his opinion as he did nothing other than use the key to get in the truck. The locksmith charged me for his service call, and the store REFUSED to reimburse me for the charge! read more

My family and i were recently riding in our minivan when we lost air in a tire. We were close by and I called about 45 minutes before the store was closing. The gentleman who answered the phone told me to get it up to them and they'd get us squared away before they closed up. We did. They did. Fixed up in 30 minutes. Took us in last minute. Had two toddlers in the car. Waiting area was very clean and comfortable, staff was very friendly, and we are super grateful they helped us out in a jam. read more

So I just had my state inspection completed. With that said, I have recently replaced my windshield wipers and have had a cracked 3rd break light on the back of my cab for 5 years that emits no white light whatsoever. They passed it 5 times as the situation is in line with legal requirements. I have used this location for years and never had any complaint until now. So I get a phone call saying that they have to replace my break light and recommend replacing my wipers. Keep in mind the wipers are new. They want to charge me for the break light assembly that's not cheap, approximately $200 dollars plus $60 dollars labor. I ask for the inspector and then the Manager gets on the phone saying he is a certified inspector and the reason it can't be passed is because it's in separate pieces. So I ask if I can install the light and they say that's against their rules and says no. So for the wipers I advise them they were brand new and the Manager advised it's because they squeaked when they rubbed the windshield but it was just a recommendation. At the end of the day I verified with a different business and certified inspector Firestone's evaluation without disclosing they had failed my inspection or even that I had received an inspection. What I learned is Firestone appears to be over scrutinizing inspections so they can charge additional labor. You can also do a search for Virginia vehicle safety requirements and find pretty quickly no requirements other than no visible white light can be emitted which again was not the case with me. read more

It is 6:14 PM on a Sunday. Firestone Complete Auto Care closes at 5 PM every Sunday. I dropped my car off at about 1 PM today and I could tell that they were busy. Rather than trying to push me to pick it up Monday morning they stayed over an hour late to patch my tire because I told them it is my only means of transportation. I've been going to this location for years periodically since it's conveniently close to where I live. I have always been given a large sum estimate of the things they want to tweak or "need fixing" upon picking up my car. It's never just a simple oil change with them. This last visit however took the cake. I had a slow leak in my back drivers side tire. I saw that there was a nail in it. Took it up there to get patched because the nail was towards the outside rim of the tire. They then told me there were two nails and the whole tire needed to be changed out. I decided to take the car up the road for a second inspection, at a shop I trusted. They could not find the second nail!! They patched the one existing hole and my tire has been fine for a month! No issues and no other nails. I mean, even if there were two nails and I needed a new tire they should have at least recommended getting more than one tire so my other tires wouldn't be ruined. I may be a woman but I'm not naive enough to fall for their crap. Done going here. Support your local mom and pop shops! read more

Had a great experience here with my difficult to align truck! They were very courteous and thorough in their explanations and work completed. Opted for the lifetime alignment even though they are nowhere as cheap as they used to be. Just need to get your money's worth from it. Plus, it's good to exercise those bolts so they don't seize in place. EDIT: Went back again and they couldnt align my truck. Said they had no idea how the tech did it last time. Only thing I can gather is maybe he didnt really do it properly. The issue was resolved by having to go to the Ft. Eustis location since they have a newer alignment rack. Great service there and they got it right on point, except the fun of a full vehicle search to get on base :( read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Terrible service. Took advantage of my fiancé because she doesn't know much about cars. Told her the issue with her ABS light being on was because the battery was leaking acid? Completely unrelated. then charged $300 for a battery change you can do in your garage in 30 minutes and $60. Then showed 0 remorse over the phone when her lights came back on and were not thrilled about rediagnosing the issue and I told her to take it to a VW dealership because I didn't trust that they would give her good advice. Horrible that a shop would take advantage of someone like that because they don't know any better. This is not the first time I have heard of this happening at this firestone either. read more

disappointed. we went to go get my brakes done because it kept making a scraping noise. they told us that the brake pads were practically brand new and suggested to just shave down the rotors but couldn't guarantee that it would help with the scraping noise (it was gonna cost about $750.) i talked to my friend who had basic knowledge of cars and he suggested that we take it apart because i probably drove into a puddle or a pothole when it was raining and got a rock stuck in between the rotors/brake pads. well, low and behold, brake pads were COMPLETELY gone.. can't trust no one these days. looks like i'll just do it myself. read more

Great experiences here and I recommend to everyone! There is a unavoidable anxiety that comes with automobile issues; this location takes that anxiety away. The guys are quick, thorough, efficient and never recommend work that doesn't need to be done (that's important to me!) I took my car in for an alignment, and declined the offer to do a full inspection (being told the alignment wouldn't correct one of the symptoms). I was certain my Google search made me more knowledgeable. I left with a properly aligned car and returned a week later, tongue-in-cheek, because the underlying problem was still present. They hoisted the car and took me out to show me the issue and offer solutions, based on my financial comfort level. Wonderful team! Thanks, guys! read more

This has to be the best one I've been to. When I first moved here to Virginia, I was is a hurry to get new tires. Expecting to be rejected for same day service as walking in, by my surprise they squeezed me in! The women that checked me out I believe her name was Amanda was really knowledgeable and friendly. Great customer service! I showed up to this store right when they opened at 9 am this past Sunday. I had an issue with my tire consistently loosing air. I came in and informed the representative that I would like to replace my tire. He said that it would be a while, because he had 8 drop offs the night before. I opted to wait, because really I had no other time to get this done. Once he was done checking in the other customers he went and took a look at my tire. He told me there was a nail in it and that he would more than likely be able to patch it up, and I shouldn't need a new tire. I was shocked. Generally these types of places try and get you for everything they can, but not this shop. To my surprise my car was ready within 30 minutes. I hadn't even realized they had pulled my car into the bay yet. I must admit I was glued to my phone. They were kind enough to get me in right away even though there were so many cars from last night that needed to be done. I guess because it was an easy fix they didn't see the point in keeping me waiting all day when it would take them 10 minutes to fix it. I truly appreciate the fact that they respected my time. I always go to a firestone to get car checked/ oil changes and overall car maintenance. I tried to schedule an appointment with this location 1 day, 2 days and even 3 days ahead and she still couldn't get me in, they don't do walk ins either. So you pretty much you have to leave your car there over night or cross your fingers that they would call you after 4 hours or so. Very disappointing. read more

The manager even offered a military discount and reminded me about a mail in rebate. However, for more complex jobs, they require follow-up. I used to get great service there, but the last few time the service has been terrible. They misdiagnosed a problem on my car and charged me $700 for a repair that did nothing to fix the problem I brought it in for. The two times after, I have dropped my car off by 7 or 8 in the morning and they don't look at it until I call and ask for an update at 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Then it is too late to order parts and they need to keep it another day. The next day I wait all day and call for another update after they have not called all day to say my car is ready and nothing has been done again at 4 in the afternoon. Unless you are someone who can sit and wait with your car and make sure the service gets performed right away, or you are someone who does not really use your car - find another shop. read more
