Took my car here because my rotors were making an awful noise. They were actually about to close so I ended up leaving the car there. They were clearly swamped with work. The next morning the manager called me and told me 3 of my wheels hubs where bade gave me an estimate. I told him I would call him back. I did some quick research to see if his quote was accurate and fair. Indeed it was below average. I agreed to have the work done and they had my SUV ready that SAME DAY! I couldn't believe how fast they were. They even aligned it for free! I am very happy with the work and will be coming here for years to come! read more

I live in Oak ParK, close to everything and this Firestone is only a few blocks from me. Had my car towed there last winter, excellent service and brand new front tires from them. Had oil change there before also, today 2/2 they were outstanding. Due to winter storm Linus, not only was I stranded in my driveway, lots of snow consumed my tires to the point where if I took off more than 45-50 mph my steering wheel would shake uncontrollably. I called them, came over and my car was sort out and back on the road in less than 30 mins and all for Free, they inspected everything then cleaned off all the snow in my tires/undercarriage....that's what you call Excellent service. #RoyalHappyCostumer!:) Go check them out, nice clean atmosphere also. read more

Poor customer service. My low tire sensor popped on in my car. I went back to this particular location because this is where I brought the tire a week before.Initially, the worker told me they were too busy. Then the worker came back and tried to book me an appointment for the following week. But if the tires were aligned and put on proper with air I would of never had to return. I returned twice after that for the same problem. Low air pressure! Poor customer service! Very disorganized! Staff don't seem to be knowable about the services offered. read more

I had no problems here when I dropped off my car with a leaky tire on a Sunday morning. They had several other cars ahead of me and didn't promise it by the end of the day but nonetheless they came through, completed it and stayed late so that I could pick it up after 5 o'clock on a Sunday. That certainly is above and beyond the call of duty and I really didn't expect them to get to it that day given the load of work they had already. I was very appreciative, the tire was repaired correctly and at a reasonable price. Zero complaints here, nothing but praise for their work today. read more

This place is a rip off! I brought in my car to have them put on my snow-tires, balance and rotate. I prepaid $145. Then they called me and said the rim was cracked and there were some after market rims for $800 that they could put on them. I did manage to find, for the same price, real manufacturer rims so I bought and brought them in myself. They charged me another $110 because supposedly they had to take the rims off again!! i have no proof that the rims were put on the first time only what they claim. When I pointed out that they were ripping me off and I will not come there anymore the manager just turned around and left. I will never go here again. read more

I have been going here off and on for the past several years, as I live locally. The main reason I go here is because the price is reasonable for an oil change when I use their credit card discount. But every time.... I leave with a bad taste in my mouth. Every time I come in they try to talk me into doing work on the car that I know it doesn't need. I only trust my car service to the Auto Clinic - they always do good work, at a fair price, and only tell me what I absolutely have to change. Firestone gives me a list every time I change my oil of everything I need to do which is just bull****. The last time I brought my car in for an oil change I had just completed my 70K check-up at the Auto Clinic and everything was perfect. Firestone gave me a list of $1500 worth of repairs/updates that I needed! I told them how could my car be having all of those problem, when I just got 70k fix-up and everything was replaced that needed to be. Sheepishly.... they just said, "Oh, sorry.... maybe not....". Today was just their usual dysfunction. Called ahead to make an appointment for an oil change. "Nothing's going on.... come in anytime." I told them my name and that I'd be there by 3pm. I arrived early at 2:30 and they said I would need to wait 1-1.5hrs until they be able to start working on my car. Really? That was it for me. My time is too valuable. And why work with people that just want to take advantage of you, even if the price is ok..... So I canceled my Firestone card today and wont be back. read more

Came in for a flat, they told me I should replace all four because my other tires where bad. I didn't believe them. 2 weeks later, I have another flat on one of the tires I chose not to replace. Their tires are pricier but they have good warranties and service for tire repair. I wish I had just listened to them in the beginning. I give it three stars because the salesman I worked with didn't seem trustworthy. I will probably go back to have this new tire replaced. I'm curious how this will go the second time around. read more

I have been going to Firestone for years (various locations, but this one for the past 5 years). I don't believe I have ever been ripped off. Maybe I'm being naive because it's a chain. However my one problem is that they always underestimate how long it will take to get things done. That being said, I have never had any real problems with the work they have done and I do believe they try to be honest. read more

Very poor service! Dropped my vehicle @ 945am for oil change and they had not even started when I returned @ 5pm. Received no other diagnostics or services. Wasn't informed that I had a break light out until I was literally pulling away and then to late to address or have them remedy. Our offices just moved in next door and I wanted to give them a chance to be my car care provider but after this experience with very little apology I will never bring my car here and I will encourage my colleagues to do the same. Steer clear of this place. We bought two new tires at Walmart in December. In January, our car developed a slight wobble in the front end. Rather than deal with the long wait at Walmart again, my wife took the car to this Firestone store, which is just down the street from our house. Their diagnosis: three of our tires "were cracked and worn", and had caused the car to go out of alignment. Estimated cost to repair: $180, *not including* the cost of the three new tires they were trying to push on us. My wife asked how a set of brand new tires could be cracked and worn. The salesperson said "you'll have to speak to the specialist to get his diagnosis", and she did. The "specialist" was barely 18, and shamefacedly repeated the BS about the "wear" on our new tires. Also, as an extra "service", they tested our battery. Guess what? It needed to be replaced! Shysters, one and all. I wouldn't go back there if it were free (which it most certainly WOULD NOT be). read more

If you want to be treated fairly, honestly and with respect go somewhere else. 1. Nobody told me up front that just for inspecting the engine light will cost $50. If I decided to go with the repair the $50 will be void. I think the $50 is fair but you should tell the customer up front what to expect. 2. When I refused them to repair the engine light the guy at the front desk was disrespectful, charged me $50 and made me wait 20 min before returning my car. read more

This Firestone is extremely disrespectful and unprofessional and I believe they mistreat and take advantage of women. 1/18 I took my 2015 Jeep Cherokee truck in for fixing due to a service engine light that came on. The day before jiffy lube and autozone both said it was my thermostat and it needed to be replaced so Firestone said they can fix it. I brought my truck in and Victor said he would call me later with an update. Friday afternoon I received a call saying we ran a diagnostic and nothing is wrong with your truck. It seems air got caught in the thermostat causing the engine light to go off and we ran your car for an hour and everything is fine. When I arrived I was told I had to pay the $99 for diagnostic, I explain no told me of this fee when I dropped my truck off but ok I'll pay it. I was just happy my truck was ok. Two days later the same engine light came and I called and was told to bring it in. I did on 1/26 at 8 am and was told they would check and call me. At 4:30 pm I called the store because no one called me and was told there's 1 car before mine and they willl call me regarding the issue before they close. 5:50 I called no answer and found out the store closed for the evening. No one called me back about my truck/ this store kept my truck overnight without calling me- isn't this illegal?? I tired calling the Corp office but they were also closed. I had no way to pick up kids/ family had to help. Sunday 1/27 I called Corp office to complain, and I waited until the store open. I spoke with salza at the store and asked how could they keep my car, he basically said we dropped the ball and the technician did not have the chance to look at my truck and he is off today so they can keep it until Monday and fix it. I was so upset, how do you treat customers this way. I went to pick up my truck and salza said oh we did find out your thermostat does need replacing because it's not closing. I don't understand how the first time your team said my truck did not need the thermostat replaced and I paid you $99 and now it does need replacing, and you can't fix it until Monday but I dropped it off to you on Saturday. I no longer trust Firestone with my truck. I missed two days of work and my truck is still not fixed. if you would have replaced the thermostat last week I would not have missed 2 days of work. I am out $99 because of firestone and will now have to find another place to fix it that does not take advantage of Women because I am clueless when it comes to mechanic work. Do not take your vehicle here, they will rip you off. Especially if you are a female. And there only response is - we dropped the ball. read more

Good work, but required work and recommended replacement of parts is all lumped together as one price and presented as the needed repairs for your vehicle. I have been getting regular oil changes and tire rotation at this location. Close to my home, no complaints. Recently needed some work done on my high mileage vehicle. cost quoted was $2300. Yikes ! The total value of my car is not that much, I advised the shop to not do the work and I would figure out what to do with the vehicle ( it wasn't running). About a day later they called back and said they could do only the required repairs and not their "recommended maintenance". Cost to repair : $1200, so I had them go ahead. As I had told them in the beginning I only wanted to get the car running, lesson learned on my part to still ask for an itemized list of parts and labor each time a price is quoted. Have them spell out exactly what they are doing to your vehicle before approving anything. read more

I was looking for tires for my 99 Toyota. They do have better prices on tires than Discount Tires and NTB. Except the problem is, even with an appointment you will spend many hours there. It should only take about about 45 minutes to put on 4 new tires. I was there for 3 hours!! Maybe stop goofing off and do some work?? read more

had an appointment, 10 seconds after I walk in and give my name, the guy tells me twice "we don't have you in here." when I reached for my phone to get my email confirmation, then he miraculously "found it." why is that your first instinct, to make the customer feel as unwelcome as possible? then when I presented the $19.95 coupon from their site, he immediately tells me it's not really $19.95, there are a bunch of add-on charges that will make it more. (not his fault, but bad company policy on that) at the end, tells me my "check engine light is on"... it wasn't. I assume that was a fishing expedition to scare me into more repairs. however my "oil change" light IS on, even after they did the oil change. (no ackowledgement of that, nor any explanation) overall, not a great experience. UPDATE: i posted this review on their website as well, they took it down. shocker. read more

I brought our car in for the normal list of an oil change, tire rotation, alignment, etc. The staff was professional and the work appears to have been done as requested.My main complaint is that I was told they would call as soon as the car was complete, but they never did. When I finally called to check-in, i was told it had been done for hours. You normally get a discount on oil changes if you have the Firestone Card, I have gotten the discount for several years at various Firestone stores by showing i have the card even though I pay with another card. This place insisted that I pay with the Firestone card, i declined, so I paid ~$35 instead of ~$24. read more

I live a few blocks from this shop and have been visiting out of convenience for about 3 years now for oil changes because pricing is reasonable. If you need an oil change take your car here-for all other work take you car somewhere else. I get that they are running a business and part of their job is to try to sell as many of their services as possible-BUT PLEASE STOP RIPPING PEOPLE OFF BY TRYING TO SELL SERVICES THEY DO NOT NEED! I'm tired of them trying to upsell me every time i visit with about $1,500 worth of services that aren't really needed. I don't need a damn battery every time i visit your shop (i just got one a month before visiting your shop), I don't need some crappy fuel system additive for increased "performance"-my car is running just fine thank you very much. How about some new windshield wipers with your purchase-NO THANK YOU-i just replaced them about a month before visiting your shop. Trans fluid change is needed-no thanks, according to my owners manual that's not needed until about another 30K miles. Struts? No thanks-my suspension is doing just fine. I would have though a smaller hall in the wall shop would be pulling the crap that Firestone is with their clients-but this isn't the case. STAY AWAY! If you want an honest shop go down the street to Asian Domestic Authority-i started taking my car here a few months ago and these guys rock. They won't try to sell you services you don't need and pricing is reasonable. These guys are always busy but it's worth the wait! read more

I came in to get air put in my tire. At the last minute, I noticed it was low and couldn't make it to the dealership and it's a Sunday. Marcus was helpful then I hear another worker, potentially a manager, who comes in and says paying customers are first. Well they give free air and I completely understand about paying customers first, but I don't think that was appropriate to say in front of customers. Also, if it's only air which is quick, does it really matter especially since most cars were dropped off and only two other customers are inside? And if he was indeed referring to the free air, would it make a difference to say I was in a few days ago and gave a tip to the person who put air in my tire. Had I known it was more than just the change in temperature outside that caused the pressure to change in my tire, then I would have been at the dealership where I get all my services done. read more

Firestone was the only mechanic shop open on Saturday that could take my car in. I dropped it off in the morning and they hadn't even run a diagnostic until nearly lunch time the next day. When they did run the diagnostic they found I had a misfiring cylinder so I'd need the spark plugs and coil pack replaced which seems fair. They also wanted to replace the cam shaft, serpentine belt, do a fuel injection cleaning, replace four tires ect. My car is older so it probably would be ideal to do most of the following but it is by no means necessary to do all of that at once like they were saying. They were just scamming me in a very obvious manner and I don't appreciate it. read more

We lived the last 3 years in OP and as it was right down the street we took our car regularly to Firestone for oil changes and the free tire rotation and alignment (we had put Firestone tires on the car before moving). When our break line ruptured one day, we took it straight to Firestone. They quoted us ~$150 t(don't have the exact number in front of me) to fix the line- turns out I should have asked how they were planning on fixing it. A few weeks later we moved to Pennsylvania. PA requires a safety inspection as part of registration. It turns out instead of replacing the break line, which the mechanic in PA showed me was all rusted and pitted and ready to break in another place, Firestone OP just patched the section of line that burst using compression fittings which are not only dangerous but illegal in many states including PA. We couldn't pass our inspection until we got the entire line replaced. We tried to take it out to Firestone here and get them to fix their mistake but they wouldn't and instead said it would cost us $600 to have the entire line replaced. Thankfully the mechanic who did our inspection replaced the entire line for $140. read more

buyer beware!!!!! i called the store manager, jaime, on friday, the day after thanksgiving, and asked about the black friday tire special. jaime told me the special , spend $400.00 dollars on tires, get $150.00 off was over at 9:00 a.m. that morning. he said after 9 a.m. i would only receive $100.00 off. i later checked the coupon notice my brother had and it clearly stated the sale for $150.00 off when you spend $400.00, lasted until closing time on friday, and was not over at 9:00 a.m. as jaime stated over the phone. then i asked jaime about additional or hidden costs not included with the sale. for instance, how much would they charge to allign my new tires or would that be included in the sale price. jaime indicated it was not included but i may not need to have my new tires alligned. well i never heard of that one. i wouldn't want to put any tires on my car and drive it if they were not first alligned. would you????? that would be an additional $89.99. but the written quote i received on 11-3-12 for an allignment was only $79.99!!!!! then i asked how much a lifetime allignment would cost me and he said it would be $150.00. so sunday morning i arrived at 8:00 a.m. and once again asked jaime how much the lifetime allignment was and he quoted me $175.00. when i mentioned the discrepancy he quickly caught himself and said $150.00 was the sale price for the allignment. well, then jaime, why did you quote a $25.00 dollar increase???? too many lies to get you in the door. too many lies for me to do business with-especially since i had told jaime less than a month earlier- when i bought a car battery from him -i was cheated by elite tire and auto in forest park. i asked jaime to give me the name and number of his supervisor. he indicated he was going to give it to me, but instead went into the shop area and didn't come out until i asked what was going on. then, and only then, he told me he wasn't going to give it to me. he never bothered to come out and tell me he was not going to give me that information. he just left me waiting in the store. waiting for me to leave. read more

I'm not sure this is the best place to take your car if you don't know quite a lot and can't tell them specifically what you need. They offered a very reasonable charge for diagnosing a coolant leak, but when it came time for estimating the repairs they gave a quote that was over double what anybody else I called charged. $1700 for swapping out a radiator and hoses? A mechanic friend I spoke with actually laughed out loud when I told him how much these guys were charging, and said that he was putting in a new engine in a BMW for less. Once you look at the breakdown for the quote, it becomes apparent how they reached such a high figure. A 300% markup on the parts (i.e. a 90 dollar radiator being charged as 290, hoses for 190) and repairs deemed essential by them (thermostat, fan) but by nobody else I consulted. The attendant talked fast and didn't really care to explain why all this needed to be done-only that it did-and he insisted that the quote they offered was the bottom line to even begin to address the leak. Moreover, over the course of diagnosing the leak they made it far worse, going from needing to be topped up once every couple of days to not even being able to make a twenty minute drive without overheating. Had I not known much about cars or how much the parts were actually worth I would have been swindled out of at least thousand bucks by these guys. read more
