They are not honest. My husband brought my car in bc I had a nail in my tire. They refused to consider a patch and wanted 500 dollars for a new tire. We promptly left went down the street to Elite tire on Harlem and they patched it no problem. It's been 4 months and the tire has not given any problems. I ve been going to cassidy for many years now and i always get good service. Last time i went they found a broken bolt on my front breaks and replaced it at no charge which saved me having to get all new brakes for the front. Went to Cassidy Tire today on the recommendation of my car dealership. I had a slow leak and needed to have tire checked out. I walked in and was met instantly with a warm welcome and smile. Steve (manager) listened closely as I explained what was happening. He said of course we can check it out but it may be a wait. That was fine with me seeing that I did not have an appointment. Prices are very fair but mostly they are honest. I've been to many tire shops around the area and some have damaged my wheels or installed tires incorrectly. I have a 7 mo old SUV with a leaking tire. Apparently theres a nail in it. It was recommended not to repair it because of where the nail is but before he did he suggested I call my dealer to see if I have a tire warranty, saving me some money! Unfortunately I do not. But Cassidy was able to beat the price I found online and get the tire the next day vs waiting 3 days. And it turns out it is in fact risky to patch or plug a tire where the puncture is near the sidewall. Always a great experience here. read more

Hope I could write a better review. But sadly I cannot. I have been a customer of Cassidy's tire for a few years. Brought 2 of my previously owed vehicles here for tire replacements and oil change for my wifes vehicle. Now as for my review. I went into Cassidy's tires today to get some aircaps Removed that were seized on my wheels. Service Tech told me that I have a one piece TPMS sensor and that all 4 would need to be replaced if they were infact seized. He quoted me a $135 for just one. I was taken back by this amount that they were charging for just one sensor to be replaced. Doing the math it's $540 for all 4 not including taxes. So I did what anyone else would do and called around to other businesses to see if I could get a better price. When to Discount Tires, which is right down the road from Cassidy tires and was met by a very nice service Tech. He came outside, checked my vehicle and confirmed that all 4 aircaps were in fact seized. Here is the funny thing he told me I have a 2 piece TPMS sensor which is not what the service Tech at Cassidy's tires told me. I was informed that the TPMS sensor would not have to be replaced. All he would have to do is remove the tire unscrew the air valve from the TPMS sensor and replace it with a new one. All for a grand total of $86 for all 4 air valve replacements. It's very upsetting seeing the poor service or knowledge about a simple replacement that would have cost me hundreds of dollars if I would have listened to the tech at Cassidy's. Either way the tech at Cassidy's said he didn't want to work on my car anyways. Made some silly excuse about not wanting to scratch the rim when they could have easily just removed the tire to get access to the TPMS sensor and air valve. Used to go here for all my vehicle needs but I will no longer be a returning customer. read more

Took my car there to hopefully fix a flat tire. Turned out that the tire could not be fixed. When I got there to pick up my car, I asked if they could order the tire that I needed. The guy told me they didn't carry Firestone tires and I probably would need to to keep it the same as what I have. I thanked him for his honesty and for putting the spare tire on. There was supposed to be a charge for putting the spare on but the guy decided not to charge me since I was so appreciative of his help. This place. I've been in the area for 30+ years, so of course I'd been here before, half a dozen times. It had been a while, though; just lucky with tires, I guess. Still, anytime someone asks for a recommendation on some local Facebook group, Cassidy Tire gets 5x as many mentions as anywhere else. Yesterday, my luck ended, or so I thoughmy wife noticed that my left front tire was flat in the garage, mysteriously. I plugged in our little compressor and filled it up. Left it there, sure I'd remember to check it again later. Forgot. Went out this morning to leave for work and sure enough: flat. So... fill it and go to work, only to have to plug the compressor into the "lighter" port at the end of the day? Or go in late and take the damn thing over to Cassidy? I chose Cassidy. Walked in, handed the guy my keys, and told him I'd have to wait. Asked him to check the other front tire, too. He pulled my car into a bay right away. 35 minutes later, he walked into the waiting area and said, "All set! And the other tire's fine." "I'm good to go?" "Yip." I was so excited my day had turned around so quickly that I grabbed my bag and my Thermos of coffee and headed out the door. Then I realized. I headed back in and said, "Hey, I haven't paid you yet!" Get this: "Don't worry about it," he says. "Really?? What was wrong?" "It had a nail in it." "You patched a NAIL HOLE in my tire, and you're not gonna charge me??" "Nope." So, yeah. Maybe I shouldn't review, since I didn't have service done there-- but the reason I didn't is because they wouldn't fix a tire that had a small nail-hole it. This set of tires has traveled less than 20K miles, and has no other condition issues. So I had the tire fixed safely elsewhere and should get another 4-5K miles out of the set based on current standards for replacement, which depend not so much on calendar age as on tread wear. Otherwise, the staff was polite and friendly, and had tires of the right size in stock, which would have been a bonus had I need a new set of 4 all-season tires. read more

After a tire mishap in Michigan which included the purchase of four new tires and a need to have the alignment fixed on Freddie (a 2007 Subaru Forester), I ended up at Cassidy Tires on North Avenue in River Forest. Unfortunately, I chose a perfectly stormy day to have the car fixed and had planned to walk or take the bus to work after dropping my car off, but it was no problem because to my delight a friendly Cassidy's employee drove me to my office and offered to pick me up when the alignment was complete. Cassidy's did a quick and excellent job on the car and the pricing for an all wheel drive / four wheel alignment was really reasonably priced. Hyundai, without diagnosing or evaluating my car wanted $1000 and 5 days to fix my car. Dennis at Cassidy looked at it, figured out the problem, had one of the guys tighten something, and refilled my wiper fluid. For free. In about 15 minutes. When he told me what the problem was and that he needed a few minutes to fix it I was so happy I had to walk around the block a few times giggling. And call the dealership to cancel my unnecessary and expensive appointment, which was, as I stated, FIVE DAYS FROM NOW. Cassidy rocks. They've always been polite, efficient, and reasonably priced. And honest. If they cannot fix something they'll send you to someone who can competently fix it. Go there. Seriously. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I have a Pontiac Firebird from the 80s and took it in for a rotation and a check for wheel alignment. They abused my car. I witnessed the tech slamming my car door and now my door scrapes against the body of the car. In addition to that, the tech had to go into my trunk to lock the wheels, but failed to realize my truck latches shut on its own and he was trying to force it down. If I had not noticed this and opened the door the shop to yell at the tech, he probably would have broke the locking mechanism as well the 30 year spoiler he was grabbing and applying pressure to. Worst of all, the front and rear rims are two different sizes. They finished working on my car and I watched the tech back it out, but not before stopping and pulling forward with a look on his. He then backed it out and gave it to me. I got in, started driving, heard a grinding sound, and gave it back to Cassidy instantly. They had mismatched the rims which resulted in one of them hitting the tie rod. You'd think they should have known about this considering they're the people at a mechanic shop. But what pissed me off about this part is that the tech knew something was wrong and proceeded to give the car to me without raising any question. read more

I dropped by recently, on one of the first incredibly cold days, to ask about switching out the air in my snow tires for nitrogen, which I understood to be better with handling the temperature changes. The manager was waiting to have his business doors opened after being frozen, but he promised to take care of it quickly while I went to have some breakfast. I took my car to Cassidy because the tire had a leak. They got back to me within a couple hours letting me know it was a run flat and couldn't be patched. I offered to buy the replacement tire from them if they were competitive with Tirerack. The guy said go ahead and order from Tirerack and we'll put it on. I did, and two days later they mounted the tire at no cost. Great, timely service. read more

Cassidy Tire does not have the impersonal, sterile feel of a giant chain--everybody there clearly knows what they are doing both in terms of the cars and in terms how to deal with people by being clear, specific, honest, and helpful. I spent some time talking with the manager while they fixed my tire (they took care of the fix really quickly even though I came in with very little notice) and he answered a bunch of my questions about my car and cars in general--it was a really positive experience for me all the way around, and I could tell other customers felt the same. Eddie Rodriguez, the manager at Cassidy Tire and Service, is an incredible mechanic and great person. He was able to change my tires after getting a flat right away. He didn't push to make me buy 4 tires but let me know I should get then all changed in about a year. He also told me I could get another spare tire at a junk yard but then upon asking him if he could get me a spare tire he got me a spare from his own home garage for no charge! You have to try to get a bad review from me. I try to stay positive and look for the best in people's efforts, but I can't this time. I have used Cassidy Tire a few times in the past both on Canal Street and in River Forest. In fact, I have had two flats on two different cars in the past week and brought it here both times. Both times they showed me why they need 2 stars. After the first time, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but not this time. I brought my sports car in there a week ago and they tried to put a tire on my car that was a brand mismatch. Maybe they didn't think I'd notice or care? Yea, ok. No communication from them that I'd be getting a different brand tire or even the fact that it came in after they ordered it. I had to call them back to see. After I went out to my car I noticed it was a different brand. So... I had to come back 4-days later and have it put on after they ordered another one. Then, my wife's car got a flat this past weekend and I brought it here because I didn't want to go to Sears or another spot in a shady neighborhood so I went back reluctantly. My wife had to handle it this time. They made her wait for over 30-minutes while she had my 2-year old and there was nobody other cars in the shop to see if they had her brand tire. After no, she left and they said they'd call back later that day. Never called back. I had to call today to see if the tire was in. Surprise, it was there. So, my wife went back and told them she only had 30-minutes because she had to get our girl at school. They said no problem. 50-minutes later to put 1-tire back on the car and she was very near late. And after asking for them to put the spare back up underneath the car. They couldn't figure it out. 2 things to say about that. 1. Isn't this your job? Shouldn't you know how to put a spare back up underneath a car? 2. Okay, you don't know how but you do know how to read, right? That is what the manual is for and I will have to read it to put the tire back, why couldn't you? So, if you have a tire need and can go somewhere else, do it. read more
