DANGER!!!! My wife had her tires rotated at "Elite" before heading on a road trip to North Carolina. Because of abnormal noises from her back left wheel, she pulled over to a repair shop in Indiana only to find that the wheel was about to fall off because only one of 5 lug nuts was in place and tightened. She could have been killed. The owner acknowledged the mistake, apologized, and paid for her repair in Indy. Some mistakes simply can't happen! read more

Went in for a tire rotation. They stripped one of my lugs using the air gun which can only be removed by using a torch which would damage my wheel. They never admitted to it. Rod was awful and rude. I left work early because I had an appointment there at 3pm. I called him at 3:03, and told him I would be there by 3:10. He canceled my appointment! I can't believe it if you are running 10 mins behind to a doctors and dentist appointment there is a grace period. I love Rod. I have been meaning to post him a glowing review for some time. A few years ago I took my old 2005 Jeep Liberty in to Rod for a an oil change & an estimate on a new muffler. I had owned it for 12 years. When I picked it up Rod told me it needed a whole new exhaust system. He thought that would run around $3000. He then held my hand (in a friendly comforting way) and said "Darlin', its time to move on". He was right, of course. It made no sense to spend $3000 to repair a truck worth $5000. I LOVED that Jeep. It literally saved my life in 2015 when a drunk driver ran a red light and t--boned me. I did not want to buy a new truck. Rod could have encouraged me to spend money on the repair or fixed it bit by bit. He didn't. He told me the truth - straight up. He turned down a lucrative repair. He also won a customer for life who tells anyone who needs work done to take it to Rod. There aren't enough Rods left in the world. I now take my new(ish) Jeep to Rod for all maintenance/ repairs. He and his guys do great work and charge a fair price. I wouldn't take it anywhere else. read more

I think I have a combination of scorn lovers and terrible parking habits because I had two tires repaired in less than two years. Each time there was a nail in my tire. This time, I took it to Elite. Elite is the perfect name for this place because the prices are as high as cheese! Beaufort D'Ete is premium Gruyere cheese which costs $45 - $50 per pound. A patch repair for a 19 inch tire was $50. Apparently location and convenience come at quite a premium. They did a great job, but the price is $20 more than customary and it took about 3-4 hours. Deductions were taken for pricing and amount of time taken to perform the repairs. read more

The older you get the more you feel like the parent and your parents, the child. When I took my dad to a doctor's appointment in his car, I noticed that his car was in desperate need of a visit to the mechanic (despite my dad's protests). The fuel gauge was stuck on full (apparently a common issue with some GM cars), there was a weird thumping noise as if the balance was off, and most disturbingly an array of important dashboard lights/alerts were constantly shining. Always skeptical of mechanics, I did my research first and figured out what was likely the cause of all the car's issues before dropping it at Elite. Rod called and laid it all out for me clearly and honestly. He told me what was wrong with the car and what made sense to repair and what didn't. His advice was to keep the thousands it would take to fix everything as long as the car was only used for shorter trips around town and just fix the balance. I appreciated his candor and felt better about the safety of the car until my dad hung up his driving gloves. Based on my positive experience, I took my car in for an oil change when I was in town. They are so popular, I had to leave the car for a few hours before they could get to it; I suppose that could be a problem if you prefer an in and out experience. Since my car takes synthetic oil, I knew it wouldn't be cheap, but it was reasonable compared to other places I've been. I also appreciated that unlike Jiffy Lube, he told me my car was in good shape; I don't think I've ever left a Jiffy Lube without a laundry list of suggested maintenance items. As my mom looks to start driving again, I wouldn't hesitate to direct her here should her car need service. read more

The first oil change in a new town can be good or bad. Thankfully I had a great experience with everyone at Elite Tire and Auto. I called to make a reservation and they had same day times available. Another plus is they're open late and on Saturdays so no worries when work gets in the way. The guy at the front desk was very friendly and helped me with my questions. They have complimentary coffee and a vending machine while you wait. The service didn't take long. The price seems a little high but compared to other places it seems like you get what you pay for in this area so the service and for everything to go okay it's worth it. read more

Along with Maas Auto, these are the best guys I've found in Chicagoland. They are honest and effective at their craft from communication to extensive repair. They are able to accurately diagnose whatever issue you have so that you can make the call on what step to take next. They helped me keep my rusted out '97 4runner on the road for 6 more years for a few hundred dollars. The car is still running strong but the exhaust is so rotted it needs to be fully replaced along with a catalytic converter sensor to pass emissions ($800 parts, 350 labor), so I'm keeping it off public roadways once the registration expires. They collectively fixed a busted suspensions on 3 wheels, new sparkplugs, and A/C repairs for the 4runner. Elite also replaced a busted radiator fan, timing belt, and a broken swingarm on my gf's 2004 jetta. People who are complaining, don't bug professionals with oil changes and tire rotations/changes. Go to a just tires or jiffy lube for that for cheaper. If the particular location is poorly managed, go somewhere else. Business is business. In my opinion, the best place to start with car diagnostics is Scotty Kilmer on youtube. You might realize you don't even need a mechanic after watching him, or at least you'll be educated enough to help your mechanic and keep him honest. read more

Can be relied on to fulfill promises. I called for flat tire I discovered in the morning on one of first cold days of fall. It was a busy day for them since cold air made pressures lower. They said they had fifteen cars in front of me but if I brought it in they were working on cars as they arrived and would likely get to it. No appointments. I have been going here 11 years. Always happy with the service, although overprices. So 11 years of loyal customer, here comes the falling out: I had Rod order me a key for my lug nut locks. Twenty-five dollars. Fine. He handed it to me and I put it away in my glove box. Last visit, Rod said my tires were bald, but I am having a financial crisis and cannot pay they BIG price mark up. I ended up ordering tires from the unbeatable Walmart.com. Not because I was displeased with anything but the price. As an olive branch, I called Rod first to get the new tires put on. 4 Tires installed(NOT PURCHASED) for around 60 DOLLARS a tire. Over 50% of what I paid for the tires. I told him I just couldn't afford it. I got to Walmart, horrible customer service, but 17 a tire. Whether I bought it there or not. But low and behold, the 25 dollar lug key I got from Rod and Elite does not fit. I brought the key back to Rod today and all he has to say is, "I ordered it based on the info in the glove compartment." I replied, "That is beside the point, what is your solution to the issue?" "I could just put your four regular lug nuts that is in your glove compartment and put those on instead of the locked ones." "How are you going to get the locked ones off?" I replied. "I got a kit. No problem." Thinking that was the right solution and keeping his customer happy. No utterance of "I am going to charge you 40 DOLLARS to take off four lug nuts." After done, I casually asked, "Rod, am I good to go?" Rod replied, "You got to pay!" "How much?" "Forty dollars." "What about the 25 I spent on a lug key that doesn't work?" I ask. "Your problem, not mine. Ask the folks who you bought your tires from!" Plus a lot of choice expletives used both on my part and "Mr. Business". Took my car for tires 8 months ago for a Honda Pilot. Got top of the line Good Year. Elite charged me less than $800. Even Costo quoted close to $1000. Great job, no problems. My last oil change at the dealer, they told me I needed all new brake pads. I said "next time" and again they said, you should do it asap. Today, 3 months later, I decided to try Elite for more than tires. I went in to get the brake pads replaced. They called and said no, you have 10,000-12,000 more miles on them. 40% on the back and 20% on the front. We recommend a tire rotation, that's free because you bought the tires here. If you are too busy or incapable of performing any small maintenance on your own, this is your place! if you know your way around the garage, you will find this place to be an overpriced rip off. i have gotten tire rotations, alignments, oil changes, brakes, air filters here and might be in the market for a new shop. after a visit for oil change and regular needed maintenance, I took a close look at my bill, i read the long list in print of what my car needed. They would have charged me $50 to fill up my coolant! Sure enough i checked my coolant level and it was low. So i bought a gallon of the stuff at Walmart for $10, and poured about 1 quart in there to reach the full line. So they were going to charge someone $50 for 1 quart of coolant... Wow guys, let's pump the brakes... All of the quick service oil changes shops such as JiffyLube top off your fluids free of charge. not this place. They are REALLY busy and I have never gotten an oil change within an hour. Plan accordingly your ride will be in the best of hands for a price. 3 stars because it is good, but they will try to squeeze you wherever possible. read more

Apparently my $1300 bill comes with a free dent! I've been a customer of Elite's for the past 3 years and started going their off a recommendation. Yesterday I went in for my 60,000 check and new tires. When the work was completed I pointed out a large dent near the drivers side wheel well. The mechanic, shop manager and Rod all admitted no fault....COME ON GUYS! just because you don't remember doing it doesn't mean you DIDN'T DO IT! ALSO, there were dirty finger prints all over the inside of my car- doors, ignition, glove box. Sadly I will not be a customer of yours anytime in the future. read more

They are incredibly honest with what needs to be done to your car and each time have never tried to up sell me on anything. I've been here several times now and I will never go back to my money-grubbing dealer. First, I needed a new set of tires as I had a hole in one of them and they were pretty bald as it is. I was immediately greeted by Rod and other employees upon entering the shop. First, Rod suggested a set a tires that was out of my price range. I told him as such, and he didn't push the expensive tires on me. Instead, Rod suggested another set of tires that was right in my range and what I was expecting to pay. They had to order them as they didn't have them in stock, but they arrived the next day, and I got a call to bring my car in to get them installed. About an hour later, I had a brand new set of tires on in the dead of winter. About three months later, I ran over a screw at some point on the expressway and got a flat tire. I took it in, and they said they'd repair it for $30. Except, bummer, I drove for too long on the flat (I was trying to find a gas station) and when they took the tire off, they showed me that it was totally shredded inside and thus unable to be repaired -- it would have to be replaced. As miffed as I was that I had to buy another new tire 3 months after buying a whole new set, it made total sense when they first of all showed me the shredded tire and also explained that road hazards are not covered under the warranty because if they were "we'd be out of business." Makes total sense though. They ordered the tire and put it on the next day after I got home from work. The third time I came in, my check engine light had randomly come on and I wanted to see what the problem was and if it was easily fixable. I came in in the afternoon after work, and initially, they told me "bring it in the morning and leave it here and we can run all the diagnostics and fix it." When I looked a little forlorn (I work in the suburbs and need my car to get to work) he offered to quickly check the check engine code for free to make sure it wasn't an urgent issue. It wasn't, and they explained what the code indicated and what the fix would imply. Sucks, but at least I know my car isn't going to explode immediately. Their prices are reasonable and their service friendly, quick and accommodating. Weekend hours are a bonus. Plus they're only a few blocks away from my place, so it's super convenient! read more

You know those days? Well, I had one of THOSE days today. Got up early, had to go to Schaumburg, and then my car died...in Schaumburg. Ugh. However, at least Elite Tire & Auto Service made my day end well. After a jump and the rest of the day at work, I took my car in to get a new battery. You can get a cheaper one somewhere else, but their batteries are recommended for quality and come with a two-year guarantee. Plus, the battery was in and I was out the door in just 10 minutes. You know how I said it was one of those days? Well, my cell battery died today too. I plugged it in to charge it while I waited and then proceeded to leave it at the shop. By the time I realized it and returned, the guys at Elite were trying to track down my number to call and let me know it was still there. Good, fast, reliable service and they go the extra mile. Every once in a while, you have an experience that reminds you of the heyday of customer service. This is such an experience. We went in with no prior appointment, got 4 tires (which come with free rotation every 6K miles) and an oil change, and were out of the door in about an hour (I'm sure that sometimes it gets too busy for that to be possible). I will admit I am not very knowledgeable about cars, but I do know how to look for a good price; the prices they quoted me at Elite from the get go were better than some sale prices at other places. Great company. Car was up on a lift and looked at immediately. The mechanic found a tiny nail in one of my tires which 2 others from different companies did not. The guy working the counter took a look at my tread and promptly talked me out of spending $1200 to replace my tires. Then proceeded to take 10 minutes out of his day to explain that the previous owner of my car slapped on tires with a different speed rating with what I was use too.
