Roy has done it again. He always top notch service, and his prices are good. He is amazing.

I have seen Roy a couple times with my car, he is always straight forward and genuine, but if he is having a bad day SO WILL YOU. On October 20th I brought my car into roy's shop for a headlight replacement. Roy took my car apart and told me I need to order another piece before he could finish. He recommended I shop online for the part because I could find a better deal. I asked him if he wanted any money for taking my car apart and he said "no I wasn't able to fix it so just get that part and bring it back and that'll be good enough." On November 9th I returned to the shop with the part needed. I could tell roy was having a bad day by his greeting when I walked in. I left him the keys to my car and he fixed the headlight. When I checked out he charged me for "twice labor" I asked him why twice the labor? He stated "because I had to take your car apart before once and now again" I told him I asked if he wanted money the first time for it and he stated no. He then became *very* passive aggressive and responded with; "I didn't have to let your order that piece online, I helped you out by letting you get a better deal, I didn't have to give you that help" He then quickly followed up to that with: "if you don't like it you don't have to come back" Well roy, you're not "helping" me if you're going to charge me what I saved on pieces In labor. And the next time you go to double charge somebody who returned for your service remember how easily I could of never came back at all. read more

Just so you everyone knows, Walter (one of the owners) hasn't been to " work" for a very long time. He has some serious health issues. His partner Roy has had to take over ALL the responsibility of running the business. Throw in a Covid-19 pandemic, and there is recipe for disaster. Roy nearly had to close the business, but through the inspiration of his friend/brother Walter, he has been able to maintain the business. No one knows what "goes on behind closed doors" and I hope Walter & Roy are not offended by my story, but please keep in mind that this PHENOMENAL small business can use a little slack right now. Car was misfiring and running rough due to age. Asian Domestic diagnostic said new plugs and a coil on cyl 2, oil change and new breaks. Offered 10% off if I paid cash. My Mistake to take the offer! Car drove off the lot somehow and didn't start next day with all the same previous issues. These guys didn't pressure test the engine which is SOP for misfires and blamed the problem next day on the O2 sensor I know didn't need to be fixed. I already paid cash so they want more to meet original expectations. A REAL mechanic pressure tested the Engine and found a hose leak - it was NOT plugs/coil or an O2 sensor. These guys are acceptable for oil changes, break jobs and routine maintenance. Find another to address real engine issues unless you want to pay for S.W.A.G. solutions like I did!!! read more

On multiple occasions we've brought a car here for a second opinion after the dealer said we needed expensive work done and instead of offering to do it themselves for less, they've told us, "nope, the dealer is screwing you. Had a really bad experience with the owner, Roy, on 07/27/2021. Ive brought my car to this shop many times over the years, as well as 3 of my family members. We've referred people to this shop and spent a lot of money here over the years. I was recently in and out of the shop several times in the past 3wks because I needed several things done (front brakes, sway bar, ball joint, air conditioner repairs, oil change, new alternator). My car had been having issues where it kept shutting off while I was driving it and they could not figure out why. I ultimately bought a new battery from Auto Zone, which resolved this problem. While at Auto Zone getting the new battery put in, they discovered a tool left inside the hood of my car (sort of resembled a small screwdriver). I was also missing the top for the valve where wiper fluid goes. No one else has worked on my car in the past year accept Roy and I was there recently. I called him to follow up and let him know that the car stopped on me again recently and that I bought a new battery. I also let him know that his guys left tools inside of my car and didnt put some tops/lids back on. I expressed that this concerned me and said that they should do a better job of checking their work. Roy became irate and started screaming at me on the phone. It was so ridiculous that I just hung up. Aside from this incident, there was always other things. They dont have enough help to manage their bandwidth. Even at 8am when they open, theyre packed/full for the day. His techs are rude and unfriendly, parking over there is very tough, and they will usually have your car all day long when they work on it. I'm embarrassed to say that I wasn't taking as good of care of my car as I should have been. But when my car started to make a terrible squealing noise, I couldn't ignore it any longer. I just recently moved to the area from the city, and I was not looking forward to finding a new mechanic. I had been going to same shop in the city for over 10 years and I loved them. But some other folks in the community recommended ADA, so I went ahead and brought my car in. I dropped my car off just before 6 on Monday, and by 6:30, I had a call from Walter outlining what work they recommended including their pricing and I gave them the go-ahead. I had a call before noon the next day telling me my car was ready. And what a difference! I can't believe I was driving around with my car like that! Never again. I spent a lot of money in one drop- but it was worth every penny I spent. I had to have breaks on both axles replaced and paid the same amount I paid for smaller car over 10 years ago. But I also needed some regular maintenance and Walter and his team hooked me up and I ended up paying less for those services than I have paid elsewhere. Found my new mechanic. Phew! read more

Can't say enough good things about Walter and his crew of mechanics. Recently the harmonic balancer/crank pulley of our 12 year old Odyssey ate itself in the driveway. Not only did they coordinate with me getting my minivan towed over there, but they were able to repair it the same day and for a very reasonable price. We've also taken our minivan there several times in the past. Walter and crew are very conscientious and will just do the right thing without a service being an extra cost tacked on (for example, all brake pad replacements also get a change of the brake fluid). To top it off, their prices are reasonable and they won't sell you on anything you don't need. Top notch. read more

I never would have stopped getting auto work done at Asian Domestic if they had not been dishonest over the charges for the last job I had them do for me in 2013. I have posted the two page letter that my attorneys sent to them multiple times AFTER I tried to work it out kindly, face-to-face. I had been going there for about two years before this happened, so I was obviously shocked and very disappointed that the business relationship ended this way. I have no clue why they would put a steady customer at risk like this. I loved their work and would still be their customer if they had simply been honest with me to begin with OR made it right after the fact. Sad end for an otherwise good experience. These guys are a gem. Exceedingly honest, great experience. They do a great job and understand how to work with you. I always feel like I've gotten great service and value. I brought my car in to another mechanic for a break issue (I won't mention who, but let's just say it's very close to them) and was charged $10 for an estimate that didn't address the actual issue but wanted to do a total system replacement for $1300, which actually exceeded the value of that car. Disappointed with a lack of integrity, I left. I brought it to these guys who found the actual problem and had working breaks for under $200. I just wish I went to them first. These men have kept my 1995 Altima going through many Chicago winters--at a very reasonable price all along the way, and it's now eclipsed 167,000 miles. Plus Roy and his team have taken care of our family van for more than four years. They are supremely fair, honest and talented. They go out of their way to make sure people get only what they need, when they need it. A revealing story: one time in 2007, my Altima broke down in Hinsdale and the bill to fix it came to more than $600. I personally know nothing about cars. I knew I had a clunking noise, a squeeking noise and no turn signals- which based on the fact that these were recently changed, I let them know I assumed wiring issues.. I saw the yelp reviews, and I took my car to this location. Dropped my car off Thursday afternoon, Friday I got a call back that I my lights just needed to be replaced (no wiring), the squeeking noise was a brake issue that just needed to be slid back, but that my center bearing and front wire something were issues and needed to replaced. I gave the go ahead, but then did some research on my own. They are common problems with my car at my mileage, but the people who got them replaced paid around $675 for just the center bearing. My overalll charge for ALL issues? $663. I scanned and sent the receipt to my dad, who knows significantly more than I do, and he let me know it's one of the better deals he's seen, and to stick with this mechanic. Again, I know little about cars (obvi) but the experience was positive, the prices are great, and the problems were fixed. read more

I just about had a heart attack when I heard a loud clunk and then metal grinding. I thought my car was really broken this time. I took it to Asian Domestic Authority because it is close to my house and they did an awesome job on my muffler in August. I told them what had happened and they promised to give it a look and then call me. About an hour later I got a call from Roy, who assured me it was only a loose bracket. I walked back over there to pick it up, and there was no charge for the inspection. I was so happy. I need to get my shocks done, and I will be taking it here. As a woman, I often feel talked down to when I need to get my car fixed. That is not the case at Asian Domestic. They explain everything to you, and they do not make you feel like an idiot or a helpless female. I am glad I found this place, and I will continue to take my car there for everything. read more

Walter was cool, but the other guy is a drag. Bottom line: They didn't fix my car but charged me anyway for the attempt. And they rudely stopped taking my check because somebody else ripped them off, not me. I just stopped in after a few years, new building. They wouldn't fix my flat. They are far and away the best mechanics I have ever met. These guys are willing to go the extra mile to keep their customers happy and coming back. They shoot straight with me. If a part needs replacing, they always show me the old/defective part when I come to pick up the car so that I can understand what they were talking about. And their prices are always the best, 10 times out of 10. They have stayed open past closing numerous times to get me my car before the end of the day.
