I have recently went to the store in Montgomery Illinois on Orchard Rd., to do a wheel alignment , I bought the life time paid around $210. A condition expressed clearlyby me , to the service advisor Mr A and to the mechanic Mr B was to first check the steering tie rods threads engagement in the tie rod ends, because I suspected that it was not enough to be safe to drive . After the fact I decided to ask them if they did the check ( this is a serious safety concern ) and I found out they did not do it . Since I had life time warranty I went back and asked them to do that safety thread engagement check and redo the alignment and they wanted to charge me for the action that they have agreed to do in the first place. They refused to do it , I have refused to pay , they did not care about the huge liability behind their mistake. I can see that the life time warranty for alignment is just to charge one more money for things that they may inflict purposely to your car, not a place that I will ever trust again. I took my car in for a repair. they told me they could repair it. after them having my car for 3 months and not having a car. all repairs still have not been repaired until this day. my radio no longer works, I get water in my trunk, trunk not aligned properly. they actually took my car to a 3rd party to get repaired and I know this through one of their employees. save yourself a headache, stress, and time. their excuse was that it was a big accident and the car could not be perfect. instead of fixing the issues. they didn't even vacuum or wash the car when I finally got it back. car had a flat tire 30 minutes later and they had to come back to pick up the car. I recently took my car into (Oswego) Firestone for a sound it was making when backing up. They told me I needed all new brakes and since we had brakes done at this same location previously, some of the parts were covered under a lifetime warrantee so we had them do all four brakes. Upon getting the car back I noticed another sound coming from the car, but this time it had nothing to do with backing up at all. We called Firestone and they said it's most likely the shocks & struts. Their list of "suggested service" came close to $1600. However, we explained that the current sound wasn't there prior to us bringing the car in for the brakes. We were told to bring the car in and we could drive with one of their tech guys, listen for the sound together and get another evaluation. Did that and were again told it was shocks & struts. Being that I wasn't ready to fork over for this additional cost just yet, and that the shocks & struts weren't dangerous in any way to prevent me from driving my car, we passed on the additional work for the time being. After mentioning this series of events to some family friends they recommended we take our car to their actual mechanic, someone who has his own company (not a chain) and has been working on cars through several generations of family. Needless to say, we did. Come to find out that the sound was not my shocks & struts but rather sway bar links. They also looked over the work done on the brakes by Firestone and found that a brake line was dangling lose and a part was left off the left rear brake assembly (it was however included on the right one). It was the unconnected piece that was causing the noise I'd been hearing. This mechanic took photographs and showed us the underside of my car with what he was referring to. We did bring the photo back to firestone to inform them that the brake job was apparently not done fully and properly. The guy we spoke to was obviously sincerely sorry, stating that they certainly don't want unsatisfied customers. We asked about their insistence that I needed shocks & struts. He said they were going by the mileage on my vehicle and the fact that most people would need this type work done at that mileage point. Basically, they didn't seem to listen to what we were saying from the get-go about the sound only being there AFTER picking my car up from its brake job. We were given three vouchers for free oil changes for our troubles. OK sure, that's nice that we got some free oil change coupons but does that make up for not doing my brakes properly in the first place or dismissing the new sound I questioned? Sadly, I have read that Firestone has a reputation of trying to upsell people on service work. I have to wonder. I can say without question, that I am very glad I got a second opinion on my vehicle. They (Firestone) are definitely a much more convenient location than this mechanic but I know in the future I will choose to go the extra mile and take my car to a place that has been highly recommended for YEARS OF EXCELLENT AUTO SERVICE by friends we have known for 35 years. read more

Sit down, fasten your seatbelt, this review could be a bumpy ride. Last July I put four Bridgestone Turanza QuietTracks 80,000 mile warranty on our Subaru. It's thirteen months later and the tires are losing their wet pavement traction. I called customer service, they gave me a case number and was told to visit a local Firestone store. Last week, I stopped in, spoke with the salesperson and he said they would warranty the tires at no charge. The only problem was the tires weren't in stock and would have to be ordered. No problem, set the appointment up for today (Tuesday morning). I came in today to get the tires put on my car, the order is already in their computer and there is some confusion as to why the tires are being replaced at no charge. The salesperson who originally helped me is off today and the salesperson on duty is naturally confused. Nonetheless my car is brought in for tire replacement. Expecting the worst, I began my review while waiting for my car, hence the "fasten your seatbelt" quip. Well, I was wrong in my assumption of expecting the worst, because the original salesperson wasn't there. Albeit there initially was some confusion, the warranty and professionalism of the staff exceeded expectations. As a former Bridgestone/Firestone store manager (many,many years ago..... it was the 80's and 90's). set an appointment for 30 minutes (single tire replacement ) and was told it would be 2 hours because the shop was full. I can wait 30 minutes in a shop without someone having to pick me up, but 2 hours? I dont how this place manages function. Avoid this particular shop! The techs are running back & forth between phones/checkout and working on cars. They aren't focused. I went in for an alignment after getting new tires elsewhere (thank goodness). The tire shop performed multiple spin tests to make sure the tires spun freely and weren't hitting anything. I drove to Firestone with no issues or noises. After leaving Firestone, my car starting making a scraping sound on turns. I looked and noticed the plastic liner under the bumper was now bent, torn and rubbing against the tire. I took it back to Firestone and it went downhill from there. The story between the guy on the phone and the tech, Jesus, changed multiple times. First there wasn't anything wrong then there was a broken plastic piece hanging down & it was like that when I came in (no it wasn't) then the tire shop must have hit the bumper & broken things. I asked why there was nothing noted on the work order or mentioned to me if it was supposedly broken when I came in. Jesus said he heard the noise, figured it involved the tires, he was only working on alignment so he didn't say anything. He said I needed a body shop to fix the bumper and refused to touch my car until he spoke with a manager the next day. I've filed a claim with corporate and waiting for someone to call me back. While waiting at the Firestone shop, another customer talked about how they screwed up her vehicle too. They told her that her vehicle was fixed and ready to be picked up even though the check engine light was on them started flashing. A different shop looked at my car today and said the tires move side to side now. A simple alignment has turned into a horrible experience. Was waiting for a rim to be delivered to the store via insurance claim of accident, was notified it was delivered called same day made an appointment came in, the store seemed to have steady business coming in and out, but they were very helpful manager Johnatan kept us up to date ie brining vehicle in, mounting tire on rim, checking tire pressure. Went in to have brakes bled and alignment. They couldn't fix the broken bleeder valves and instead wanted to sell me new calipers for $400 each. Said it would take 1.8 hours to remove and install new ones on each caliper. Only took me 15 minutes to remove them and then $30 to have the valve drilled out at a local machine shop. I went in for a battery issues to have them check the battery made an appointment came in apparently they had no time other than to tell me what I already knew I told them it's a good battery I got it less than a year ago it's just not screwed on tight enough and I needed somebody to figure out where the wiring was wrong. Except for they came back to the lobby a little while later and told me the battery takes a full charge but if you want us to look into it further you'll have to come back a different day. I went to my other mechanic and he literally saw how loose the battery is and within 10 minutes tighten the whole thing fixed it no more issues.. this place is a waste of time and effort I literally went and waited for them to tell me what I already knew about my battery that it's 100% good just it's not on the terminal correctly. Other Firestones in the area are managed poorly so the brand quality from we have seen is not consistent. This location however is amazing and we highly recommend trying them out. The staff are all friendly and nice, there just isn't an abundance of them. This makes them flakey (don't return calls or forget to call/update) and unreliable (didn't have time to do larger, more time-consuming repair of my vehicle). These folks said my car needed nearly 4000.00 worth of work. They said I needed new heads because the car "eventually" failed their chemical test. I thought this wasn't right (fortunately) and took the car to another repairman. This HONEST repair man ran the same chemical test and the car passed. It did not change color. New spark plus ($250.00) fixed the overheating problem. I've driven the car a few months since then with no problem. If they charge you more than a hundred dollars, get a second opinion. It's not just this Firestone. It's the "culture." If the managers don't make their numbers, they get demoted. So, they lie to rip off customers. read more

Staff is very friendly and helpful but communication is definitely lacking. Had to keep my truck in the shop 2 nights cause they didn't have the right tire available. Went in to have a thermostat sensor replaced in my car. The service was terrible; every question i asked didn't seem to register with them. I asked the simple question of 'how long?", and as i response i got a rude, "Might be today, maybe tomorrow. You know what, we'll call you..." When they finally called two days later, they started trying to sell over the phone other work, 'like new tires', 'oil change', 'suspension alignment', etc. I told them no, that if i wanted it done i would go to my normal mechanic. Later on when my husband went to pick up my car, they started telling him about how i had been interested in all this work over the phone, and that he should sign the approval to get it done; lucky for me my husband called to make sure it was a lie. The actual work done to my car wasn't bad, it was the customer service that was awful. They were too interested in signing me up for more work on my car (over $2,000, stated in an estimate i didn't request but found stapled to my receipt). Funny thing is, my car is relatively new and goes for regular checkups, NONE of the repair work on their estimate is actually needed.... They''re money hungry. I will not be going back. read more

Have had the same brakes done at the Oswego, IL location 4 times and they are still squeaking! After the third time they were still squeaking but I said forget it I am not going back. But here we are 11 months later and 14,000 miles on the brakes and they are grinding metal on metal! I take the car back to Firestone and they tell me that I will have to pay for the labor for them to do the work because it is past the 12000 mile warranty. This is not my first time having brakes replaced but it is the worst and I have never had brake pads wear out after only 14,000 miles! I did some research and found out that brake pads typically last between 30,000 and 70,000 miles. Talked to the manager and he stated that I either had to pay for the labor or they would put it back together and I could pick up my car. So reluctantly I paid for the labor and called corporate to complain. I was told I would get a call back from a regional manager and that never happened. To top it all off THE NEW BRAKES I JUST HAD INSTALLED ARE SQUEAKING! WILL NEVER USE FIRESTONE AGAIN! read more
