I move around a lot for work, and one of the hardest things is finding good services every time I have to move. This is the 1st time that I've found an auto shop that I LOVE to go to. Rick and Mike are always super friendly when ever I go. If I know it's routine maintenance I can always schedule an appointment that works best with me online. If it's an unplanned issue, as long as I get there early on a weekend they're really good about getting my vehicle in, and keeping me updated on the status. Updating my review because I feel it is necessary and I have more to add after going elsewhere and finding out truly how bad this place is. People need to be warned because I wish I was before I spent over $600 on them just screwing my car up. This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. IT IS A SCAM! We brought our car in end of January for an oil change and they told us we needed new front brakes, so we did it. They charged us $400! Within a week we hear constant squeaking which continued to get worse and worse. We brought it back less than 2 months later. Instead of being honest with us telling us they didn't give two craps when they worked on our brakes, they decided to not fix their mistakes and instead try to scam us more and tell us our calipers were bad and likely causing the squeaking. ($550 to fix) and we also needed new struts! (Which they wanted a ridiculous amount of money to fix) GOOD JOKE. We decided to get a second opinion because we knew they were scamming us at this point. We brought it to another shop and they told us our calipers were fine! and that they likely used poor brake pads and did not grease properly. We held off on them redoing for a bit and the squeaking just got worse. So, today we brought it back. They redid the brakes for us for less than HALF the price, didn't use crappy brake pads and told us they did not grease at all on our initial job and therefore all our bolts had frozen up! We paid $400 for this service at this shop and could have had both our front and back brakes done PROPERLY and well at this other shop who fixed the front for us. Instead we paid $400 for them to just screw up our front brakes worse than before they did anything to them. We also bought the lifetime alignment which is also a scam, first off our alignment still IS AWFUL, it is like they hardly did anything. And you can only use the lifetime warranty at corporate shops which wasn't told to us as they said ANY firestone, bridgestone etc. So, who knows if we will ever even be able to use our lifetime alignment again because we certainly won't ever return to this Round Lake shop again. It is probably just another almost $200 they scammed us out of with absolutely nothing in return to us as the customer. They obviously don't know how to value their customers here or care about them at all! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!! They will steal your money and leave your car in way worse condition than before they touched it. read more

Took my Jeep by there yesterday for oil and alignment. Lifetime alignment had been purchased previously, so there was no money to make there. Despite that,t hey did the alignment and just notified me ball joints were getting loose. They had a perfect opportunity to tell me I "had" to have ball joints done or they couldn't do alignment (typical scam, could only make them money, wouldn't lose money), yet they didn't do so. Up front and honest with it, did great work, and were polite and finished right on time. I highly recommend this shop. read more

Outstanding service. Best to call ahead for appointment but I've walked in several times and the wait hasn't been too bad. Prices for oil changes, tire rotations, alignment, pads/rotors (all services I've done through them) are very reasonable--especially compared to some of the ripoff local auto shops I've been to in RLB. Went there for the first time. Friendly staff and great service BUT, dishonest. They told me lug nuts on the car were rare and charged me $10 a piece for them. Went to a local auto parts store and saw they were $2 each and the staff laughed when I told them what I was told (they were rare). I do not recommend this place due to the staff being dishonest and up charging customers for no reason. read more

Found this place from the district manager. I had called to complain about another location (Des Plaines) that I was very unhappy with and we had a very reasonable conversation about my expectations (which are a bit high, I'll admit) and when I asked him to recommend someone who had actually called to praise, he mentioned Tyler in Round Lake. Since then any time I need tires mounted/rotated with a great degree of accuracy (very important for a very light car like a Miata) I go to Tyler. He spotted a very, very slightly out of round wheel that most would have missed, and got them all balanced closer than anyone else has and yes you can definitely tell in a 2100lb car. As much as I'd hate to make him super super busy, if you have a car that is absolutely your pride and joy and fear letting anyone else touch any part on it, Tyler is your guy! read more

We need more businesses like Firestone who VALUE the customer as appose to the DOLLAR. Thank you Brandon (District Manager), Dave (Service Manager) and Mike (Store Manager). In 2011 between September and November, I took my 2007 Nissan Altima to Firestone 1874 Illinois 83 Round Lake Beach, IL 60073 because I needed to replace my two front tires. The rear tires were in pretty good shape as confirmed by Firestone and at that time there was only a need for two. They suggested putting the two new tires on the rear of the car and moving the other tires to the front. On the eve of August 28th, 2012, I happen to notice that when my car accelerates up to a certain speed that my steering wheel would begin to shake. On August 29th, 2012, I called Firestone spoke with Dave and set an appointment to come in that evening. Based on my experience, whenever there is an issue with the steering wheel shaking upon acceleration, it's normally the tire or potentially an issue with the suspension. So the first thing that came to my mind was that the two front tires were bad. There were a couple of buckles in them and one could only assume this to be there problem. After my car was checked out, the gentleman told me that my two front tires were bad and that is likely where the issue was coming from. He said the suspension was nice and tight and they didn't see any issues there. So I approved them to move forward and change those two tires. He then asked if I could come with him to the garage area where my car was being worked on. When I got back there, he asked me to rub my hands across the tires that I purchased on 2011 as they now notice that those began to buckle. From there he suggested that I get an alignment and said that if I didn't, it could decline the warranty on the new tires. He also claim that the alignment could have contributed to the new tires I purchased in 2011 buckling. He advised me that I may feel a light shaking in the steering wheel but with the new tires and alignment, this should fixe my issue. Being strapped for time, I scheduled the alignment for Saturday, September 1st, 2012 at 7:00am. When I left Firestone that very same day, I could help but notice that my issue was the "SAME". I immediately called them the very next morning (August 30th, 2012) and asked that they make a note of this. On Saturday September 1st, 2012, I go into Firestone for them to perform the alignment and do further assessment on my vehicle. Once all was said and done, a gentleman by the name of Dave Salas advised me that your alignment it slightly off and once we get it done, this should fix your issue and prevent the tires from any further damage. He also said, because of the buckling in the tires you purchased in 2011, you may feel something coming from them but it shouldn't be bad. When I left there, I was still experiencing the same issue. I was very frustrated and not happy that my issue had not been resolved. However due to Firestone's commitment to customer service and wanting to make sure that I was satisfied, they not only resolved me issue but they did it at no additional cost to me. I called around store opening time to find out about getting a new set of tires that same day because I was going on a trip the next day. Mike found me a good choice of tire in stock at the store and made an appointment for later that morning. Richard explained the inspection results. Both of these guys are great. The tires were on by noon and were on sale too. I've always had good results with Firestone tires. They're on all 3 of my vehicles now. read more

Getting up and having a flat tire and trying to find a place open I came upon Firestone in round lake they took me in right away and were very friendly and didn't make me feel I was bothering them!! I dropped my car off and asked to get a ride home. Due to the fact they were busy and it was late in the afternoon. I was told no problem be about 15 mins. 30 mins later again told be about 15 mins. 30 mins from that was told again 15 mins. At this point extremely frustrated. I could have walked home in that amount of time. Finally after about an hour an half I finally get a ride. This place is a joke. They say that they work with customers to get the best possible price. But when in comes down to it all they care about is the almighty dollar. While working on my cars brakes they told me I need upper control arms. Which is fine, the car is almost 20 years old. But when was quoted over $900.00 for a $67.99 part(Keep in mind shops do get discounts from most parts vendors. Although they say that they are all their own)that will take maybe 20 minutes to install is ridiculous. For this price you might as well go to your local dealership. My car is a pain to work on the front brakes. But when you have to remove the brake assembly from the car. Why charge full labor when job is 3/4 of the way done. read more
