Refused to fix a tire. Left an elderly woman and her granddaughter stranded in their parking lot when all they had to do was pull a nail out... This on Lancaster avenue in Salem (if you know you know). Meanwhile, after a Good Samaritan put a donut on for her; Costco repaired the hazard and said she had another few months on those tires (btw, Discount Tires would have repaired this as well; so there's two better options for you). But I guess to Firestone that's all a part of the job when trying to sell four new tires becomes Paramount over customer service. Furthermore, the person was rude and belittling. This branch of Firestone Complete Auto Care on Lancaster WAS our go to Automotive Services shop, for our two cars, for over 3 years since we moved to Salem, but not anymore because of declining customer service and my most recent service experience... Here's a very brief background...my Check Engine light was on for my 2005 Toyota Matrix...Firestone did a Computer Diagnostics and recommended that the my Fuel Evaporator Canister be replaced..a $600+ repair...I agreed and the repair was done and the Check Engine light went off...A couple of weeks later, my Check Engine light comes on again and I bring it back to this Firestone...This time, they say it was my Fuel Gas Cap that was damaged and they replaced with new one , at No Charge and my Check Engine light went off... About 3 days later, my Check Engine light comes on again...being frustrated, I decided to take it to P & M Automotive, down the street...P & M Automotive conducts their Computer Diagnostics and says the problem is " whomever installed the new Fuel Gas Cap, put in the wrong type of Fuel Gas Cap"...P & M goes on to inform me that the sensors on most Toyota's are very sensitive and you would need a OEM (Original) part, rather than comparable or off-brand...So, I go ahead and pick-up a an OEM Fuel Gas Cap myself for $17 online and the problem is solved... With that being said, it makes wonder if I ever needed that $600 repair to replace the Fuel Evaporator Canister in the first place...Our go to Automotive Services shop in Salem is now P & M Automotive at 264 Lancaster Dr NE. read more

Went there to get oils flushed, and was told I need to replace all these parts due to a leak, but didn't know where the leak was coming from. I came out with a quote of $800. Seriously? Had a tire blowout on one of my cars on Friday night and had to have it repaired as soon as possible on Saturday. I normally go to Les Schwab Tires but passing Firestone early on Saturday morning (before Les Schwab was open), I decided to drop the tire in and see if they could repair it. Walking in the door, it was like a breath of fresh air--a company that actually cares about customer service!! Rolando Marquez greeted me and went through my options. Very courteous and professional. They did not have the tire in stock so Rolando said that he would call the downtown store and check there. He asked that they transfer the tire to him and he promised to have it fitted and ready to go in a few hours--- which he did without any delay or drama. I drove 9 hours to get to Salem in my little Mini Cooper and it suddenly broke down as I was getting some dinner. After getting it towed to the nearby Firestone, I went home and waited for the call in the morning. It turned out the car was less damaged than it seemed and the guys there were SUPER helpful. The part my car needed was not in the shop so they ordered a few, but found it didn't actually fit. This happened 3 times, but I was kept very well updated. The whole thing was done in about 3 days, which is much faster than I would have expected. The part ended up being cheaper than expected as well. So, that was a very nice bonus! I worked with Robert at this Firestone and couldn't have asked for a better experience from them. I was having trouble finding a tire shop that was affordable and had the time to do a walk-in tire change due to the holidays coming up (was unable to make an appointment within the next couple days) etc. Robert guessed the repairs would be completed around 3 or 4pm and everything was completed with an additional wheel alignment service at 3:04PM which was very important since I also had scheduled an apartment viewing as well. I can't say thank you enough for the honesty and being accurate/ early with the time estimate. I had just oved here from Las Vegas, NV and they are notorious for over promising and under delivering just to get the business in any line of work (auto repairs, home depot/ lowe's deliveries, etc). read more

I rolled in at 3:30 on a Sunday (on a holiday weekend!) with a flat, and when my tire could not be repaired, they called around to other stores to find me new ones in the right size. I hate to be one to complain, but I am just super frustrated with my service here. I chose this place because my car broke on Thursday night. We called and were told they could work on it on Friday. Friday I called and they didn't even look at it until the end of the day and said it'd be done Saturday morning. I understand they have other customers that have appointments, but why say they can if they can't. Anyways, I call Saturday and they say it'll be done in 30 minutes, so I informed them I would pick it up on my lunch break. 4 hours later, I arrive from walking all the way to the shop and they said it wasn't done. Something went wrong. They knew I would be there, so obviously I was pissed that no one at least informed me that it'd be longer. They said it would just take a little bit and Kevin gave me a ride back to my work (Kevin was very nice to me and very helpful). I come back after my work when they previously told me it'd be done and surprise surprise... it's not done. Im extremely busy and now I can't go to the pumpkin patch on the one day I could. I am not pleased with them at all. I understand not all was their fault. They explained that they had a faulty part sent to them, but I received no phone calls or anything and have wasted a lot of time now. read more

I had an appointment for 9:00 am to replace 4 tires and alignment on a v6 mustang. This was on a Saturday about 2 weeks ago. When I dropped off my vehicle I was told there were 2 cars ahead of me and it should take 1.5-2 hours at the latest for my car to be ready. I had made plans for 4:00 pm thinking that would be PLENTY of time. 3 hours pass, I call them. They tell me there is still TWO cars ahead of me.... i gave them benefit of the doubt. Another 1.5 hours pass and I call them AGAIN. Now I'm told there is only 1 car ahead of me. 4.5 hours after my appointment and they have gotten 1 car out of the way that was ahead of me. It's now 1:30. ANOTHER hour and a half goes by and I give them another call, furious now, I demand to know what they are doing that is taking so long. The employee on the phone tells me he just left a voicemail saying it's ready. 6 HOURS for a SCHEDULED tire replacement and alignment. I will never return to another firestone again. Customer care was abysmal. They took THREE times longer than they had told me. Never a call to inform me where my care was until it was done. No reason as to why it took so long. Shady company in my opinion taking walk-ins before scheduled appointments. Again I'll never be coming to another firestone, nor will I take my girlfriends car there either. Pitiful excuse for a tire shop 1 year later. I bought new tires due to a leak in one of mine. Les Schwab took my car in with no appointment on a Tuesday afternoon and had me out the door in 1 hour. My first experience with Firestone, I needed tires and had gotten a Quote from Les Schwab for $1400.00. Decided to try Firestone and was quoted $800.00, so I went with them. They did not have them in stock so made an appointment for a few days later. They told me it would take about 2 hrs. which I thought was a little excessive as I have done tire service before and know first hand that if you stick with the task it should not be that long. 4 and a half hours later it was finally complete. Recently I got a low air warning for my right rear so I took it in to get it aired up. They not only filled it up, but went around and checked the rest of them for me. Which I thought made sense. 4 days later the warning was back so I took it back this time to have it fixed but was told they only had one tech on duty as all the others had called in and that I should bring it back in a few days and that I should be prepared to drop my car off FOR THE DAY. ALL DAY FOR A PATCH? They went ahead and filled the tire adding 2 extra lbs of air to give it more air to leak but this time the warning did not go out. As I felt this was unreasonable I took it to Schwab and right then and there tested the the sensors and found that they had not been scanned to the proper location on my car. So now I am wondering why Firestone filled up a tire that did not need any air. read more

These guys went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. I don't live in Salem, but if I did, I would come here for all of my auto needs. I had my car towed to this location after puncturing my oil pan. I live in Seattle, so all of our conversations and happened remotely, but they were patient and explained everything that I needed. Less than desired customer experience. We called on Sunday afternoon to see if they had time to put tires on our car after a son hit a curb too hard. They said, yes they had time to replace the tires. We were there in about 30 minutes. The mechanic who met us at the counter said they were booked and couldn't help us until Thursday! We opted to not schedule and went to another tire store the next morning where they were able to service the car with no delays and excellent customer service. read more

I scheduled an appointment for an alignment on line for my car. I needed to make sure it didn't need any additional work done before I bought new tires. My appointment was at 12 on November 4. At 10:49am I receive a call from the manager telling me he can't honor the appointment. Then offers for me to drop the car off to them for the entire day. I explained that I can't do that. He then tells me he's is more that a week out on scheduled appoints for alignments. I said I would just have to go somewhere else. In a rude tone he tells me no one else is open today to help me. So I went to a different tire shop and they were able to do my alignment and set me up with four new tires While I waited. They only took an hour and a half and there was five people ahead of me. In fact they did a complimentary diagnosis and when I decided to wait to fix my car they still didn't charge me anything but gave me all the information and parts numbers for when I wanted to! Kudos to Kevin and Robert and the Firestone team who squeezed us in on a Sunday to fix an oil leak. Not just an occasional drip, this leak in our 2012 Subaru Outback was a drip, drip, drip mess and didn't bode well for quick and inexpensive fix. And my wife really needed her car that next week. Oil leaked somewhere from the bottom of our engine and all over the exhaust and then onto the driveway. It was a mess and, of course, not getting any better. Only wanted to drive the Subaru far enough to get it looked at and repaired. Kevin advised us to bring it in on a Sunday morning. We did and Robert checked us in. Said he'd squeeze us in and give us a call that afternoon. Fearing the worst, when Robert called...he explained it took their technician some time to figure out where the leak was coming from. Had to run the engine while the car was up on the lift to finally trace it to a pinhole leak in the oil filter. He recommended an oil change and a new filter. I was thinking head gasket, or any number of things that would be expensive to fix and/or require the Subaru to be in the shop for days. What a relief. And we needed an oil change anyway! So this Firestone team squeezed us in on a busy Sunday, correctly diagnosed the problem and fixed it for about the cost of a premium oil change which we needed anyway. I couldn't be more pleased. We will take our cars there from now on. read more

Salem Oregon. Have purchased tires at Firestone for a number of years. Will no longer do so. The last 4 sets of tires we have purchased, all rated at 70K miles only lasted about 20-25K. Had bad customer service from the manager at one store where I heard him using derogatory remarks about me when he did not know I was within hearing range. And at another store the young girl at counter was very disrespectful and arumentative about why their tires wore down. She did nothing so far as offering a solution. They try and blame the fast wearing down of their tires on missing rotations or alignments. No rotations were missed and none of the cars had issues with alignments. In fact last alignment was performed by firestone. Finished purchasing tires here. read more
