I've taken my car here a few times for oil changes, often for only $20. Service has always been friendly from the various staff I've interacted with. They constantly try to sell you more service, but are courteous when you decline. That's just the way the business is and they do their best to not be too pushy about it. I just bought my first set of tires from them after being a loyal Discount Tire customer for many years (last five sets of tires from that place). They quoted me about $25 more OTD than Discount, but when I reported that, they called Discount and came back to me with a price $25 less. That's all expected, but what gets my 5-star rating was this: They included tire pressure sensors in my quote, but it's not a feature on my car. I had not noticed this until after I paid and dropped my car off. So I anticipated having to go back and raise a stink about it, but to my surprise, they brought it to my attention when I went to pick up and quickly processed a $40 refund to my card. They seemed excited to tell me they were able to save me some extra money, a rarity in this business. Only negative is that they are always busy, so a wait of over an hour for oil change is not unusual. I live within walking distance, so I don't mind dealing with that to save a few bucks. read more

Best Firestone location I've been to, out of 4 different ones over the years, which is why I bought another liftetime alignment here for my current car. They just recently moved from their old shop on Rainier to this brand new one on MLK. The waiting room has a flatscreen tv and AC blasting for these hot summer days. It's also much bigger, so they've hired more techs, which means even faster turnaround times. Speaking of the techs, they all seem professional and competent. The store manager, Sherman, really knows his stuff. He's knowledgeable and able to explain exactly what needs to be done and what work was completed, in language anyone can understand. It's hard to find a good shop these days, where you know they'll take care of you and be honest about what repairs are truly necessary and which ones are just something to keep an eye on, so this particular Firestone is a rare commodity these days! read more

I was in Seattle on business and my 2006 4Runner was making a funny noise. I called on Friday evening. They got me in right away on Saturday morning. I Ubered to my destination so they could keep the car and do a $9.99 all systems check. I was called within two hours. The source of the noise was a nothing burger, but my front brakes were at 0 and 3, back ones were fine. So yes, that was a costly fix but with the Firestone warranty I was happy to do it. No upsell on anything else. I Ubered back out on Sunday. Picked up my car and drove safely down I5 to Portland. Very nice! Very accommodating! Best place I have ever been to for tires. They are really great here. They work with you to see what your needs are. I never felt like I was being taken advantage of. Let's face it I am a girl who knows alot about alot of things but when it comes to cars, I know nothing. Sherman and his team were awesome. I did not feel worried that I was not going to get everything I asked for. I was able to leave my car for a few hours there even after they were done. They gave me a call and notified me immediately when things were done. The MLK location gives amazing customer service. I will be bringing my car here now for an oil change instead of going to the dealership that charges me an arm and a leg and try to up sale me on everything I don't believe I need. Walked in on a Sunday morning and spoke with Service Advisor Binh. I had previously had an alignment done by the Renton Highlands Firestone and specifically told their SA to max out my caster and get the toe/camber within factory spec. My truck is lifted on aftermarket suspension with oversized A/T tires. When I received my results the SA told me that they "maxed out my caster" and everything else was 'in-spec". After receiving a couple second opinions on an online enthusiast forum, I found out the tech at the Renton Highlands Firestone was lazy or unqualified to move the cam eccentrics bolts as they could've moved them more than once. I specifically asked for caster to be close or over the 2.5 range, if possible. The best they could do was 1.6 R and 1.0 L. I am very particular with everything in life and my vehicle is one of them. Dissatisfied with alignment results I consulted with Binh at the MLK Firestone and told him my expectations for this second alignment. I provided them my results from my Renton Firestone and told him to get his tech to get my caster close to 2.5 and set toe/camber to zero. 2 hours later I get a call for my results. Binh explained clearly how they got my requested specs to 98-99% to what I wanted. Caster was 2.5 R and 2.4 L and toe/camber within the .04 range. Truck drove straight and no twichy steering. I am happy with my alignment results. I thank Binh and his tech for going out and actually putting in the necessary time and work to get my truck up to my standards. I believe most other places will call an alignment "good" as long as they see "green" as in "GTG" when they are doing the numerous alignment jobs daily. Binh was able to work with me and get my requested specs without compromising areas of camber/toe. read more

I've taken many vehicles to Firestone and usually have a fine experience. Sometimes work has to be redone, but I try to let that slide. Last time I went in I went for an alignment- they sold me on the 'lifetime alignment' for almost $100 more than a one time alignment. Went to pick my truck up and they said they couldn't align it until I cut my tie rod ends- like sawed them down! AND they told me their lifetime alignment didn't cover camber adjustment and that'd be an extra $65 PER SIDE each time. Called Les Schwab, they aligned my truck without cutting my tie rods, AND include camber in their alignment. Congrats, Firestone- you swindled a regular customer out of $100 but lost a regular customer in the process. read more

Went in for squeaky brakes. Got an appointment for the next day 12-2 pm. Checked in at 12 on schedule. At 2 pm they came back saying they couldn't hear any squeaking. When I said then let's have a short drive together and they were like OK ok.. Half an hour later they said they did hear a faint squeak and they were fixing it. 2 hours later, more than 2 hours more than estimated for like the most basic job ever, they gave the car back. Half a day later, the brakes are squeaking again. I went back, but all they could say was that's what brakes do! In summary, there's no way of getting decent service out of those guys short of a gun to their heads. They do not honor any of their jobs OR their warranty DO NOT USE! read more

I discovered a screw stuck in the tread of one of my tires last Sunday. Being one of the only places open, I took my car there to get it fixes. 2 hours + $22 later, I'm out with a patched tire. The staff was friendly and straightforward. They even did a courtesy check on the car for free, which included filling up the other tires to recommended PSI. I had a hard time freeing myself up earlier in the day yesterday to call about an estimate on a headlight bulb I needed to get replaced. Firestone on MLK/Orcas is on my way home, and I had previously done some minor repair work about a month ago and was very satisfied with the service and thoroughness of both the techs and customer service team. My only intention last night was to get an estimate and make an appointment, since I know how busy that shop is (plus I never expect immediate fixes as a random walk-in). My repair was not critical to the operation of the car, so it wasn't necessary. But Phu, the service advisor, asked me to wait for a minute while he looked to see if there was a tech available to make the fix right away, telling me that "I was already here, and there wasn't any sense in making me come back another time". They whisked my car in, and made the quick fix. I was on my way out in less than 30 minutes, on a rainy evening when they were closing early for a training session. Friendly, quick service at a fair estimate for parts and labor. I would absolutely recommend coming to this shop, and will be back for any repair needs I have in the foreseeable future. Both of my recent experiences here have been positive and the work was completed without surprises and more quickly than estimated. read more

They're kind of expensive, but really helpful. Every time my tire goes flat, way too often, they fix it up for me quick, free, and run their courtesy checks. I've also gone in for an oil change. They never suggest unnecessary work to me or make me feel uncomfortable. I've had some really horrible and sleazy auto service (I'm looking at you, AutoPro), so it might just be easy to make me really happy to be treated with basic dignity at an auto-shop. Never have gotten work on my car done there other than an oil change though, so I can't speak for that. But if you're looking for a lack of sleaze in your auto-shop, this might be a good place to check out. read more

I usually go over car repairs with someone who knows a bit more than I do and these guys have always rated well. They're always friendly and helpful. An act of unpaid kindess: I had a stripped/stuck screw in my license plate and was having a fit trying to switch to my new plates. I brought it over and someone helped me immediately, delving into his tool knowledge to find one that worked for this funky screw. He removed it and sent me on my way, all with a smile. My wife took our car to Firestone to get an oil leak fixed about two months ago. Their written estimate was about the same as our dealership, but since they were closer to our house we went with them. When I picked up the car 4 days later, the bill was about $400 more than the estimate because the original estimate didn't include a litany of sub $100 charges added on after the fact. A big sign behind the counter said "Written estimate provided for all charges greater than $100." Also noted that after the work had been started the Firestone tech had recommended that we also replace our water pump as he claimed that "it will have to be replaced soon anyway and we may as well get it done at the same time." Not only was it going to cost an extra $600 for this service, they would not warranty their work without it and she was forced to sign a disclaimer stating that we refused their advice and signed away our right to a warranty. A month later we had it at the dealership for routine maintenance and they noted that we still had an oil leak in the same spot. Returning it to Firestone to replace the faulty part, they kept it for another 3 days, at great inconvenience to us, because they had a junior technician working on it who didn't know what he was doing (these are their words). After getting the car back a second time, my wife was running errands and received a "No oil pressure - Stop car immediately" message on the dashboard. Taking the car to Firestone a third time, they diagnosed the problem as being caused by the same "faulty part" as they blamed the last time. The car is currently in their incompetent hands as we wait for them to advise us when we can pick it up. In my wife's words, "I completely regret taking the car there in the first place." If we had taken it to the dealership instead we'd have saved a lot of time and money plus the parent company would conduct an after-service survey to ensure that we were happy with our service. As it is, we're left posting a complaint on Yelp. Hope it helps someone else avoid our mistake. read more

I drove my car from Las Vegas to Seattle a few weeks ago. As you can imagine I needed an oil change and went to Firestone. My first thought as a woman was I was going to be ripped off. But to my amazement the Manager Sherman was excellent. He squeezed me in and took care of my car and made recommendations for work that I will need in the future but was not pushy about it. He was very personable and went the extra mile. It was much appreciated and because of him I will bring my car back!! Thanks Sherman. I've been to this Firestone several times - oil change, new battery, brake job. I always find that their staff is friendly and helpful. The first time I went was out of desperation. I needed a new battery. It was 3 pm. On a Sunday. No one else was open but them. They were fast and efficient, and their excellent hours saved the day. The next time I went back was after calling a million places for price estimates on brakes. Firestone had the best price, so I went back. The job was done well, and for an excellent price. One thing I realllly appreciate is that they are never pushy for a sale. They always recommend some additional work be done, but are never become rude when I decline. They also take the time to explain things, even doing math over the phone to illustrate what needed to be done! read more

Let's start off by saying that this Firestone is really, really busy. I wonder why? Awesome service and quality work. Went in to get a new set of tires because I was sitting on summer tires. Wanted all-season tires and the shop manager Binh helped me out. I was asking for specific tires, but he found better ones and compared it and voila, I left with what he had recommended. High performance all-season tires. He didn't try to sell me the most expensive tires, but helped me find tires that would be good for my car and within my budget. I have an AWD car so I needed all 4 tires replaced and tires could get really expensive. Binh price matched the tires and told me how much I would be paying and I was very happy. Everyone here at Firestone are professional and hard workers (no wonder why a lot of people go here). I would recommend this to any one living in South Seattle to go to this Firestone. Just be aware that the wait time may be longer than usual because they're so busy (but it's definitely worth it). So have a second driver (if you're doing something more than a basic oil change) or make an appointment ahead of time. I live in Kent, but I would drive to Seattle just for even an oil change or any other maintenance. Bought a pair of tires here a couple months ago , and they've been leaking so bad I have to put air in them every two days. Finally make it the shop and tell them , but all they do is put air in them. I could've done that myself , and when I point out that what I had asked was for them to patch the leaks , the guy runs his hand over the top of tire and says "well I don't feel anything just come back if their flat again". What ??? How lazy and stupid. I clearly stated the issue and they refuse to do their job. $500 on tires I could've bought elsewhere where the workers are more helpful. read more

I went there for an oil change, for $24.99 you get an oil and filter change, with the basic inspection done for free. This place always gives me a positive experience. The staffs were knowledgeable yet not pushy, they left me a list of things that I might consider fixing, and let me know the honest urgency of the status. I was not thinking when I filled my new tdi with 12 gallons on unleaded fuel vs the correct diesel fuel. I was out of town on a Sunday and they promptly responded to my problem and only billed me for what I needed vs what they needed. I'd honestly say zero stars if given the chance. I have taken my car here several times and have noticed a steady decline in the quality and timeliness of the work. Yesterday I called and asked if they had any availability. It was a Saturday so I wasn't expecting good news. They told me it would be a 4 or 5 hour wait for an oil change, but that I could make an appointment for today. I dropped off my car at 10 and they only began to look at it at 2:45. Why bother making an appointment if they aren't going to service your car for 5 hours?! This will be my last trip to Firestone. read more

I used to think that I could trust these guys and started to consider them as my go-to mechanics until this last week. Car stalled on me so i had it towed the following day to have it diagnosed and figure out what was going on. I get a call back later that evening with them telling me that my timing belt had slipped 7 teeth, along with a completely broken left rear brake caliper and saying that it had to be replaced at 700. To further diagnose the engine to see if my timing belt had caused a lot of damage to the engine they quoted me at 500 to put the belt back on and check the engine. I started to figure out my next steps to junking this car and needing to buy another one were as i wasn't looking to buy or rebuild this engine. So as many people would do i started researching and looking around and finally came to a more experienced mechanic were I had it re-towed to get a second opinion and at a much lower price. I get a call the next day from the mechanic saying that in fact nothing was wrong with the engine and it was the catalytic converter! he removed all the valves check everything, timing belt was still in place where it should be and didn't have any signs of slipping! What the hell did Firestone do when they "diagnosed" my engine? So i'm beginning to think Firestone was literally just trying to get me to spend 500 so they could tell me that nothing was wrong with the engine and that later find it was the converter. and also to find out with my brake caliper that it was not broken and just the pins were stuck. I feel completely screwed over by these guys. I honestly would never trust them. read more

The staff are not overly friendly but very helpful and tells it like it is and sends you on your merry way. I got 4 new tires here and thought I got a pretty good deal for the quality and service. My go-to firestone to get alignments done, I got the lifetime alignment for my car and it's worth it in the long run especially in Seattle so you don't have to pay $100 every time you need an alignment. I just had a really great experience - I went to get my oil changed but the wait was a few hours (they said that was very unusual) - bummer! I have to drive to Bellingham this afternoon and (my fault) I'm 1,200 miles overdue for an oil change. I asked the very nice woman if I would be okay for the trip or if I should go somewhere else in the meantime. She had one of the techs look at my oil levels (it was basically empty). They put two quarts in for free and said that should cover me 'til I could get back in. SO NICE! I will definitely take my car back for the full deal. They've just won over my loyalty! read more

I can't believe how hard it is to find a decent oil change service at a decent price in Seattle/south Seattle. After calling around, I've been quoted from $20-60! Seriously? I drive a 4 cylinder Honda Accord. The decent $20 place is of course booked for 4 days. Other cheap places use crappy oil. I almost gave up and drove around south Seattle and decided to give Firestone a shot despite the corporate brand. Firestone is decently priced. $29.99 plus tax for oil and filter change. They use Kendall oil which is actually pretty good for a low budget oil change - and no extra cost for regular, high mileage, synthetic blend, or my case - 5W20. Like every corporate auto service, they did a quick inspection and recommended that I get new tires. Of course, it's Firestone. But surprisingly, they didn't push the sale. All the staff are professional and courteous. The waiting space is clean and comfortable with TV and coffee. I will be back for the next oil change. read more

A TOTAL RIP Off. Firestone wanted an extra $50 a side ($100 total) to align my vehicle that already has quality standard camber kits installed on all fours and has been lowered by no more than two inches. This is on top of a vehicle that already has the lifetime alignment through Firestone. I called 10 other alignment shops afterwards to find nobody else charges extra and don't see any reason to do so. They say this is a pretty standard setup that will not require extra time, labor or tools. Other reputable shops told me Firestone only does toes adjustments, not camber adjustments which is NOT a true alignment, but just a thrust alignment. I am starting to believe them. Do NOT buy a lifetime alignment from Firestone unless this is all you want from them. They're just out to take your $159 and in return give your wallet great customer service! I will not be taking my car to this location and suggest you do the same unless you have extra money to spend for absolutely nothing extra at all! They're lazy and are attempting to profit heavily on the unsuspecting consumer. BE AWARE!!! read more

I had a sense this was going to happen. I brought my '86 Comanche Jeep pickup for a tuneup and oil change - I never thought the weekend would turn out to be an unnecessary ordeal. Both the tuneup and oil change jobs were completed. There was a recommendation to have the starter replaced, due to startup problems. I decided that I'd come back for it next time when I'd have the funds. Little did I know, that there were more problems after having taken the truck back home: 1. My driver's side door is now completely jammed. It could not be opened from the inside, nor from the outside, and this has never happened before. So I had to exit from the passenger side. 2. The sound of the truck is now a lot louder because I discovered a hole in the muffler. Prior to my leaving it at Firestone, this was not the case. I called them up citing these problems, and I was told that they would "investigate". I told them that I'm one who would unnecessarily raise problems like these, simply to make their job miserable, I was just stating a fact. Firestone is practically a neighbor, and so the drive was not that far. So the problem could not have been a result of the short drive back home. I'm still hoping that I get back the truck's original condition (before I had taken it to the shop), without having to argue my case any further. read more

Best Firestone I've ever been to! I was really hesitant to go to a Firestone after moving to Seattle from New Orleans and also having had so many bad experiences, but this location is a gem. They were so kind and everyone I encountered was just great. They did great work on my car and Sherman called me to talk about things they found before they did anything. He helped me think through what was most important and gave me options and helped me price everything. AND they got it done quickly.
