I called to find out if a headlight on my 2021Hyundai Kona could be repaired. Greg told me to bring it in so I did, the same day. After checking it he said yes and immediately fixed it. The experience with Budd and Company for my Audi A4 was amazing. They were very patient with my situation and got my car fixed and it runs amazing. there very customer oriented and put the customer ABOVE the money, something was wrong with my car and they worked so hard and even had a specialist come in and come to find out it's something the dealership it self needs to do! so i would have paid 3k for all the work done BUT since they didn't feel right charging me the 3k I okd they didn't charge me a cent not for labor or money invested they gave a professional opinion i was speechless at there work and they kept me in the loop the whole time! this shop has my money whenever I need anything done. First time I came here to get my car checked out. The prices of repairs were higher than other shops, and the guy at the front counter wasn't very personable. I'm usually respectful and friendly while not expecting much from customer service, but there was just something off with this guy. Like palpable fake niceness with a passive-aggressive judgy undertone. Seems that after I declined the number of services they said I "needed" they just wanted my car out of there and didn't finish checking the things I wanted, even though I was paying for them. I was done with them and just went to pay and pick it up. When I picked up the car, the AC was no longer working. It was fine when I dropped it off. Throughout the last year or so, I've called a few times just to get estimates and compare them with other shops. The same guy always answers the phone, older guy in his 60s, and he always sounds like he's uninterested and would rather not be there. I'm done even checking now and told all the people I know never to go there. I would rather go to another town than deal with them. read more

Mike has always been a consummate professional and the folks at this shop continue to go above and beyond. Communication is always clear and timely, the work is quality and as expected with no surprises. I just had a fan motor die out in the middle of a seattle snow spell and they were able to get me in quickly. Mike and his team had me squared away in no time and I'm happy to report that the snow on my windshield doesn't stand a chance now! You gotta love they've been serving seattle since the 50's! This company was great and got me in same day. Unfortunately, I asked a random stranger to help my jump my vehicle earlier in the week and it fried the battery. Buddy & Company got me in the same day, updated me before they closed, and got my parts replaced the next day. I did have to replace my alternator and the main fuse in my vehicle so $650 was quite the pill to swallow, but I needed my vehicle for work. Neighborhood mechanic that we trust! My partner and I are unfortunately prone to car issues and Budd & Company always hooks us up with a great deal and great service. They have done it all on our cars and we are always happy with the work. Mike is the mechanic we often are talking with and he is professional, kind, and always honest with us. It's hard to find a mechanic that you don't question whether you're getting ripped off or not (at least for me). It got to the point with one of our cars where he was upfront and told us it would cost more to fix our car than what it was worth, which we really appreciated. What I loved most about Budd & Company is their open and friendly communication and consistently giving me updates and following through on follow up when they said they would call me. It shows how reliable they can be. I brought in my new-to-me used car to get new fluids and have a general inspection and they very clearly told me the issues they found and whether or not they were critical. The only reason I had to knock them down a star is because I initially contacted them through their website and never heard from them. I bothered to just call because they are so convenient to me and it was good that I gave them that chance. TL;DR They got a ticket while working on our car and didn't pay it. They worked on a car that was owned by me but driven by a friend, and they ended up taking the car out to test it and were caught speeding by a traffic camera. The ticket went to me, I went to my friend, my friend went to this shop, and proved that it was their fault with copies of receipts and work orders dated for the time period the ticket was given for. They said they would pay it - this was 3 months ago. We thought it was handled until we got a collections notice now, so obviously it wasn't. My friend is paying it, and is down another $100 because these people can't find 3 minutes in a day to pay the thing they said they would. read more

Fair weather mechanics, so to speak. If you have a more complicated issue that doesn't throw a code, these guys can't help you. I really don't know what their problem is. I took my car in for a diagnosis in support of a lemon law claim. Car runs very roughly, hesitates, and has low power, among other issues. Made an appointment, dropped it off. They had it for a day and a half. Apparently everyone in the shop drove it, or something like that. When I came in, they admitted there is something wrong with the car, but since it doesn't have any codes and they can't figure it out, they'll just write "no problems found" on the invoice, after happily collecting my $80 for their diagnosis fee. I found them based off Google Reviews, where they somehow have a 4.7 rating. Wish I had read Yelp first. I often find their reviews to be more in line with reality than the 2 lines most people write on Google. read more

I was referred to Budd & Co by a friend (also a mechanic) so I gave them a call to discussed my repairs. They couldn't figure out why I was being changed $3,500 so I had my truck towed to Budd & Co. Mike and Jordan's customer service and communication was great and did the same work for $2000. Shady. Very friendly and competent front-of-house folks, but whoever is looking under the hood, so to speak, needs to get their wires straightened out. Specifically, mechanic cited a problem battery (it is fine, srsly, had it checked after the fact) and that one of the rear license plate illumination lights was out (small, but an expensive repair; also, it is perfectly fine before and after the visit). Also, they didn't manage to fix the squeaky brake that was the reason the car was in the shop in the first place. Quote: "We didn't hear any squeaking." Fine, okay. It squeaks EVERY. DAMN. I brought my 91 cutlass in here because one of the cylinders wasn't firing. They told me the compression was low and that it wasn't worth fixing for a car that only blue books $500. I love the car so I got a second opinion at Gus Cooper (After a very difficult time getting my car back from Budd, and a hefty bill) and guess what? Budd and Co. got my business by default because they are located near by. I'm a REALLY bad driver and tend to hit curbs and forget to get my oil changed and shit. Budd and Co. is on my block. I've used them before and felt comfortable with them. They guy I usually deal with has secret agent voice. I'm a sucker for secret agent voice. I hit a curb. Hard. Bent my rim and blew my newish tire out. Next morning driving to work, a gentleman asked me to roll down my window so he could deliver the news that I had a flat. So that's why my steering wheel is veering to the left. Limped my car back to my block and got a ride. Called Budd and Co and asked for an estimate. I was informed that they couldn't give me one without looking at my tires. I told them I was parked a block away and they took the time to hoof it to my car, diagnose the problem and provide me with an an accurate estimate which included finding me a used wheel to save me some $$$. They had me back on the road one day later at a reasonable cost, I called around before giving them the green light. They were competitive in pricing and very professional. I didn't think I would need to find my own personal mechanic so soon after moving to Seattle, but, I guess my car sucks. Fricken Suzuki's. This was the second place the towing guys tried to drop off my car at. The first one said they couldn't do anything until Monday (it was Thursday, NYE), and didn't offer to let me drop my car off for work. Budd & Co said the same thing about working on my car when we stopped by, but they immediately offered to house my car for those 4 days so I wouldn't have to tow my car 10 more miles away. They looked really busy, but jumped right in at helping me. That Monday afternoon, they called me and told me my car was ready. I was happy with the price and the speedy service. Granted, it was a pretty easy fix, but I was impressed and grateful. They didn't try to sell me up on anything else, they just fixed the problem and left me a message stating it was done. I bought my current car with 65,000 miles on it, and have put another 100,000 on it since. There is not way for me to get to work with fewer that three buses and an hour and half each way, and that is on the days I'm at the location closes to home. As much as it pains me to say so, I need my car and I depend on it. So I need someone I can trust to take care of it and maintain it, and work with my schedule so I can use it to get places. I started using Budd and Company when my old mechanic got too popular and became inconvenient. They highly recommend trying B&C out, and I have never regretted making the change. While they are not cheap, they are straight forward, trustworthy and give you your money's worth. The front counter guys are friendly and never condescending. They have almost always turned things around in very good time (except once when a part didn't come in on time), and they are easy to communicate with over the phone to confirm work and make payments. I briefly tried a VW mechanic closer to my house, and immediately regretted it. These guys are solid, dependable, and kind. Highly recommended. read more

I had my car towed here after the starter stopped working. They knew it was towed there and took advantage of the fact. He wont let you supply parts, initially I was impressed by this because he said "I don't trust a lot of parts, just prefer to use ones I order." Come to find out its because he wants to charge 150% markup on the part. I tried to call him out on it and he said he doesn't. when I showed him on my phone the EXACT same part down to the serial number for $200.00 less he got mad and said that is what he has to do to stay in business and that its my fault I agreed to the repairs. Not the right way to treat a customer. They should give out free lipstick in the shop so you at least look pretty while you're getting F***ed. read more

I stand by these guys 100%. They have always had my back when other companies have tried cheating me out of money. I have tried probably 5 or 6 other places around town, most all of them AAA certified, and they have all tried to scam me by telling me things needed to be fixed that have not. Most recently I went for an oil change at Elliott Tire & Service Center because I had a coupon, I came out of there with a piece of paper telling me I needed $1500 worth of work done on my 2006 car. So I go to Budd & Co and they are honest and trustworthy about what needs to be done, they explain numbers to me on the car, they are not afraid of giving me a fair diagnostic. I think these guys are terrific. The $1500 of work that Elliott Tire & Service Center told me needed to be done turned in a $35 fee at Budd & Co to look at the vehicle and I drove away carefree. If I could give 0 stars I would- DO NOT bring your car here. I have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon that had some issues with shifting gears and slipping, one day it just stopped shifting and grinded really bad. I brought my Jeep here, not only did it take them 6 days to just look at my truck, but I had to call them to figure out that they'd gotten to it. They told me that I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION, "oh yeah man, that Jeep needs a new tranny." So professional. I wanted to get a new estimate from a guy in Portland that worked on my moms Jeep, so I rented a tow truck and grabbed it, the guy who worked in the shop originally said he'd help me get it on the bed then left me to do it by myself. Where I parked my tow was the only spot available and he came out and had the audacity to tell me that "he hoped that it wouldn't be here overnight because cars need to move out of the lot the truck is in front of." He was a total jerk. In conclusion, my Jeep needed a new clutch and they were gonna try to charge me probably $3000 for a new transmission + labor? Trust me. Go somewhere else. read more

Upon completion of the work, I had to ask for my old parts to be returned, but they didn't have them readily available - I was okay with a thorough inspection of the work done and seeing the new parts (they were all external engine parts - water pump, belt tensioner, etc. If they were internal parts, I would have had an issue. Friendly, calm, understanding staff. Convenient location. Decent prices on the parts (I could have bought them myself for less, but I'm not a mechanic, nor do I possess the time, tools, and shop space to perform moderate-scale, so you have to bite the bullet when it comes to parts prices). Their shop labor rate is average. If I'm ever experiencing mechanical issues with my truck again, there is a fair chance I will take it back to Budd & Company. My truck is running great again, and that's all I really care about. read more
