My car blew a tire near their store so I was able to limp in (without an appointment). Despite low staff, they were able to get the tire patched exceptionally quick and back on the road in less than 45 minutes. Haven't had that quick of service when I've had an appointment. Blew a tire on the interstate at 630. Got the spare on at Casey's, but it had a hole in it. So I called the only tire shop and they told me they could get it fixed. Walked in and they told me to just bring my kids in, it was 737 they close at 8pm. They calmed me down(I was pretty upset) Thank you Jason, Matt and median for everything. Got four new tires here a couple of years ago. Every oil change, I ask for tire rotation with it. I've paid for the work, assumed it was done. Today, they called to tell me they have never done the tire rotation since installation and recommended an alignment check since the tires have unusual wear. So, now I'm 25,000 miles in on the tires, the tires need to be replaced, and the work that I paid for, that would have extended the life of the tires, was never done. And no, I'm not going to pay for an alignment check, as I cannot trust that the work will actually be done. Find another option that isn't this store. read more

I have had 2 great experiences with this Firestone store in the past few months. First, I blew a tire on the interstate nearby. AAA towed us over and this Firestone team was so helpful in getting us back up and running in no time. They made us a terrific deal on 4 new tires (which needed to be replaced a long time ago). Just this past week I took my car in so they could check out a bad squeaking noise. That noise turned out to be an air conditioning problem. They also discovered an oil leak and got both of those problems fixed before they turned into something much more serious. They do a terrific job of communicating up front, during the process, at check out and in follow up. I understood exactly what was wrong, what my options were, what their process was, etc. I give these guys an A+ in communication and customer service. read more

I'm done!! As a Partner Plus member I am beyond done with this company. I've watched for years as they've used scare tactics with women and elderly to up sell services. Today was my last straw as I ordered boat trailer tires in. They wanted to charge $50 more per tire than everyone else for a tire made in CHINA. So I opted for a single tire opposed to 2: I had removed the wheel already but the young man who was in charge said it wasn't worth it to put it back on the trailer. I would have paid for it obviously as I was already over paying for the tire because it was a convenience to me. I had already priced 4tires for my truck to order the following week. So in his arrogance and unwillingness to provide customer service he lost the trailer tire sale; a full set of truck tires, and all future maintenance and service work on my wife's car. If I could post a zero rating I would. Go elsewhere unless it's an emergency. read more

Got a great deal and the people were nice but had an alignment, for it on the road for 5 mins and it was worse than it was before I took it in. Had to take it back 3 differ times to get it resolved. Not going back for an alignment. Test drive your car before you leave with it. read more

I can't give them a 0, so they get a 1. Kid broke down near here on her way to see some friends for the weekend. Stuck thermostat. Pretty cheap and easy fix. She calls me up to tell me they want $650 to fix it. I talk to the guy, who tries to sell me on a water pump and complete coolant flush. For a 23 year old car with 190K miles on it. Became pretty apparent they saw my kid was a girl, with out of state plates, and were trying to put the screws to her. After 5 minutes of arguing with the guy, I give up. Told the kid to go to the local big box store and park it. I went to my local parts store, dropped $40 on all the parts and supplies I needed, and drove 3 hours to get there. Spent 15 minutes putting in the thermostat, and it's good as it was before. These guys are up-selling crooks, who won't think twice of trying to swindle out of towners. Go somewhere else. read more

I usually come to this one because it is close and convenient to come to over my lunch, or so I thought. The last few times have been less than convenient and here is why, due to my most recent visit. I called to make an appointment over my lunch period (which I mentioned while on the phone) for 1 p.m. My car didn't even get pulled in the garage to be serviced (for a simple oil change) until almost 1:30. When I got there (2 minutes til 1) I even said I'd like to decline the courtesy check because I am on a time crunch as I am (again mentioning) on my lunch hour. When I was in the waiting room, the guy who checked me in came out and told me he just yelled at them and they should be getting my car in "soon" (this was about 1:25). I gave an annoyed sigh and asked "They haven't even gotten it in yet my appointment was at 1...?" He just basically repeated himself with what he had just told me. I get an hour for lunch and I was late getting back to work, less than a mile away. This will be my last time coming here and I will just have to work oil changes into a different time of my day. read more

Got my car repaired here three times (2004 Silverado). All three times Brain has helped me, he has been helpful and courteous.

I ordered new tires from Firestone and set up an appointment to get them put on my car, accordingly. All went well until I was told the total cost, which was a solid $70 MORE than the price I was told when I reserved my tires and appointment. I wasn't given an explanation at Firestone, but quickly realized that they put on different tires than what I wanted, and charged me that extra price. Cool. Fast forward to the next morning (about 14 hours later). One of my tires was flat. And not low on air, it was 100% flat. So I got to drive back to Firestone, after re inflating the tire, so they could fix the issue. Turns out that something didn't seal correctly the night before. Good thing I hadn't left for my Thanksgiving travel earlier like I had initially planned. The reason I give two stars instead of one was because they did fix the issue with the deflated tire quickly when I came back. But that'll be the last time I'll go to this Firestone. Wrong tires put on with a mistake? No thanks. read more

Do not take your business here! My 18 year old had a nail in his tire causing it to loose air. Took the tire in to have it repaired and after keeping it a full day reported back they could not repair it because of a "previous repair" that was done incorrectly. What??? They recommended a new tire. Took the tire to a local shop in Grimes Iowa, they could find no evidence that the tire was even taken off the rim. They repaired in a very timely manner for 15.00. They are into scamming the consumer. If I could give a zero or negative star rating I would. read more

Travelling from Colorado to Chicago and our trailer had a bubble in tire. Asked them for a floorjack and a lug wrench as we are capable of changing tire ourselves buts was told no. 4 hour wait. Went in for service at this location for a battery change with a acid treatment. Went great they were able to squeeze me in before they closed. Only downside is I went to lof in ankeny to finish my services 5 days later they explained to me that my terminal was cracked for my battery. Long story short firestone failed to tell me they cracked it, and that my battery was not under warranty because of my subs. Went in there and they fixed the terminal with no questions asked but never apologized or gave any sympathy. Because they fixed it I gave them an extra star. read more

Here we are round 4. Purchased tires 6/5/16. Nothing but frustration since that day. Car still vibrates from warped tires I purchased supposedly brand new from Firestone on 22nd st in Clive, Ia. Today I went to a scheduled appointment to have two warped tires replaced only to have a worker tell me the tires are fine and once again "they were not balanced and they would balance the tires(4th time)." He proceeds to tell me my wheel is the problem. I responded its funny my wheel wasn't the problem when I was riding on poorly treaded tires before this firestone encounter. If there was enough damage to affect my wheel would it have caused damage to the tire? Response from Firestone employee:"Sometimes a pothole can damage the wheel. " Fast forward. Take it out for test drive with firestone employee. Me: I can still feel the vibration coming from back right. Him :"I don't feel anything." We trade places this time he's driving. I'm in passenger seat. I feel the vibration more. Him: "I don't feel it." I get a receipt with a paragraph indicating they will replace tires if customer has wheel issue taken care of to her satisfaction. Funny thing is that there is no wheel problem. My alignment is now slightly off. I have spent over 8 hours of my time to get the tires rebalanced and spent more money at a Toyota dealership to verify what I already knew. I traveled to Des Moines for my son's birthday party at the sky zone trampoline park and my air conditioning went out of my vehicle. I had 7 people with me in 90 degree temps. I made several calls to local dealerships and repairs shops and the only place that could get me in was this Firestone store. Not only did they get me in and fix my vehicle Shawn (the service advisor) gave me a ride back to the birthday party and also delivered the vehicle back to me when it was done. What could have been a very bad day was saved by the helpful people and especially Shawn at Firestone. read more

I recently made an appointment to have my Subaru Forester looked at. I'm pretty sure it has a coolant leak and possibly a head gasket leak. Being winter time I really need my car to be reliable and need to get it fixed. I made an appointment a week in advance to have the problem diagnosed so a quote could be submitted to my warranty company. I dropped my car off at 8:15 am and had a co worker pick me up so they could have my car all day till I got off work at 5. When I returned my car hadn't even moved. The employee told me they were busy and unable to get to it in and look at it in the 9 HOURS it was there. I didn't expect it to be fixed, just looked at and diagnosed. I'm very disappointed, I waited a week for this appointment and now I have to schedule another appointment somewhere else and my car is still acting up. I will not be bringing my car back to Firestone. What's the point of making an appointment? read more

Took car in at 7:00 am to replace a brake line pretty simple job. Work nearby asked if they could have it done by 11 so I could pick it up on lunch. They called me back at 1045 telling me I needed new brake pads, rotors turned and upper control arms needed replaced. They did an inspection of car needless to say car wasn't done at 11 because they decided to do a complete inspection with total of over 1000.00 for brakes and control arms which I declined. Asked if they could have the 1 brake line done by 4 pm which they said no problem. Walked over to pick up vehicle at 4 and it wasn't done many excuses were given and I was told it would be done in an hour. I have done many myself and all of the brake lines could have been done by this point. An hour and a half later the car is finally done at a cost of 390.00!!!!! No apologies at all just added labor costs because of their incompetences. I would like to share my experience with the Urbandale Firestone Store. Clearly, they are busy and doing lots of things right. They have lots of business and I'm sure my experience is because of just that. I dropped off a flat tire with the store on Sunday. My husband had put on my spare tire. I had an appointment at 10:30 am Monday morning to just replace the spare with the fixed flat. After waiting with my 3yr old and infant for 45 minutes, I asked if it would be much longer. The store clerk was very friendly. Actually, he handled it the best he could. They were not going to get to my tire anytime soon. I asked if it could be completed in the next 20min and they were not able to do that. So, here I am, 50 min into my appointment and they were unable to get my tire switched out. Honestly, all Firestone needed to say was that they were too busy to change it out or not schedule me to come in! It was a huge waste of time. I left with a fixed tire and my spare still on my van. Please be honest with your customers. They will appreciate that much more than anything else. You are busy and that's fantastic. Just don't over book so much that you can't take care of what you have. read more
