I called and left two messages the were four days apart. Neither were returned. My wife texted them and they finally responded. We ordered a cord for us, 1/2 a cord for our neighbor, and 1/2 a cord for my in-laws a block away. The Firewood Guys scheduled the delivery for 5 days later at 3 in the afternoon. They called and said they were running early and could they delivery at about 1:30. It was a minor problem for me but I said OK. They didn't show up until 4:30. They arrive in a clapped out truck that is barely running pulling a Home Depot rental trailer, but they're full of wood. We start to unload into a pile on my driveway and I ask, "how do you measure this wood?", to which he answers "when we fill up this truck and trailer we know we have more than enough for a cord". OK, we keep unloading and he says that's more than a cord. Not having calibrated eyeballs for what constitutes a cord of wood in a loose pile I say fine. It is now apparent he does not have enough wood left to fulfill my neighbor's order, let alone the in-laws. He merely states that with his setup, he can't bring that much wood at once. He neglected to mention this before the delivery and kept my neighbor and in-laws waiting for him, for nothing. He did sell the little remaining wood in the truck to my neighbor for $40 bucks or something, to which my neighbor after getting the cut of their jib told them to not bother with any more wood. Now the main issue. I carefully stacked the wood into two piles in my back yard. I then measure these piles (liberally mind you) and they are 80.4 cu' and 27.6 respectively. That's 108cu'. A cord is 128cu'. I send a text (the only thing these people respond to) and though he claims to be confused as to how this could happen, he says he will deliver the remaining 20cu' in a few days. Well that was several weeks ago now and they do not respond to voice mail and texts. This "company" does not publish an address on their website. I think I know why. In summary, and I didn't mention above their state of sobriety, these guys are squirrelly at best, and maybe flat dishonest. I DO NOT RECOMMEND doing business with them. read more

We ordered a half cord of what was supposed to be red oak and most of it was white oak. We cook Santa Maria style BBQ and asked for red oak. After bringing it to his attention he did nothing to resolve it and told us "oak is oak". Will not be ordering from him again... felt like he stiffed us. read more

Glad I found these guys! We have two firepits (one small iron and a large brick one) so was looking for some decent firewood at a good price. I've been stung by high prices at other companies before so ordered a 1/4 cord of mixed wood for $90 as a first try. Delivery is free within Ventura County. Kyle duly arrived the next morning - with over a hundred pieces (!!) of good quality, mixed wood. Red oak, eucalyptus etc. They have a very reasonable stacking fee of $10 but I prefer to stack myself. A simply amazing amount of wood for the price plus free delivery puts other firewood companies in the area to shame. I will most definitely use Firewood Guys again. An easy 5-stars read more

I ordered 1/2 cord of mixed wood, both soft and hard to be delivered and stacked. They delivered and stacked the wood and everything was fine. I even tipped them for their service. The problem is, the wood won't burn ! We have to keep the log lighter on the entire night or the fire simply goes out. I texted them about my problem and their response was " I would be happy to refund your money, except we don't do refunds on firewood ". They said they"may have" mixed our wood up with the non seasoned wood and recommended that we put it out in the sun for a while ! Not an option, for me to put 1/2 a cord if wood out in the sun for a few months. They seemed like nice guys but I won't be doing business with them in the future nor will I recommend them. read more

I complained about the greenness of the wood thinking it might be my mistake. Since my original post I have found less than 10 present of the wood that was burnable. When Kyle made the delivery asked if the wood was seasoned and I asked for hard wood he told me he could not get to it, gave me crappy wood and in his response to my complaint told me to find some burnable wood, in a week I will be out of the burnable wood for six months. I have been getting quality firewood from Kyle a few years now. Unlike others, I won't mention by name, you will not get old fence posts with nails or heavy termite infested wood. He's is highly professional, always offering to stack and if he (Kyle) tells you he's going be there at a certain time, he's there with prior call-ups. He is genuinely a gentleman. Whether if it's a half cord or full cord, he never shorts the load (like others do). I can't say enough good things about The Firewood Guys and owner Kyle. A large group of us were camping at Pt. Mugu Sycamore Cyn for Mother's Day weekend and everyone was supposed to bring a fair amount of wood for the long weekend. I decided to google firewood in Ventura County and got Kyle with The Firewood Guys. Kyle delivered right to our campsite within a couple of hours and the price and quality of wood was exceptional.
