Hi everyone.
S.P. quote: "so it makes me wonder - do people hate insurance companies or do they actually hate insurance brokers like First Avenue?"
I can't imagine anyone who looks forward to talking to insurance companies/brokers or coughing up money for policies. I certainly don't. AAA may be the best if you are a customer but they are also the most ruthless in terms of fighting claims. I'm dealing with Progressive right now when a woman rear ended me last year. What a bunch of scumbags.
Driving down Mission one day I simply stopped my car out of convenience to get a policy. They have always been fair to me and I never had any problem with them.
Let me ask/say something to S.P.: So a 1 star review, and they are friendly folks? I can't image doing a job like insurance/broking insurance policies all day long. Can you? You know why they do it douchemaster? They need to *put food in their families mouths and a roof over their heads* Ok??
S.P. quote #2: They call you every time your policy is due for another payment... very handy. Except when they tell you they will do it anytime a policy is about to expire, then you rely on that & they never call & you have to pay a late fee.
Genius, that is called a *courtesy* call when your policy is about to expire Ok? No doctor, dental, insurance company *has* to do that, but they do it because it is part of a (larger) good customer service strategy. They want you to come in and pay them and not lose you as a customer and the late/no show fee is something called "positive punishment" (a behavior to decrease). Should they call you when you have had a policy for the first 7 days instead of when it is about to expire?
If you don't understand any of that, which would be no surprise to me, I hope you can grasp this: This is called a "Business" by which people make money. An increasingly difficult thing to do these days. Doing Insurance policies for a living would be like me being a cashier, standing there, for hours....And most do it because they have kids which I don't (don't want) so being a dog trainer, driving instructor, worker's rights advocate, artist, women in spandex biggest enthusiast, etc.
William and Gavy have always up front (You'll see them as soon as you walk in at their desks and figuratively) with me and has been a no frills operation. I have a project classic car, that isn't worth much (in $$$) to get full coverage, but in my icon pic you see it is a very presentable car because I have done much of the cosmetic work/maintenance too by trial and error. if a fender was ruined for example it would probably get a salvage title so liability/uninsured motorist is good enough. I get a discount because I *do* use BART 2 or 3 days a week for various reasons and the # of miles I *do/don't* drive the car per 6 months or year and when I have canceled a policy earlier, I never have had to hassle over the remaining amount I prepaid.
Btw S.P., I've never heard the term "honey bucket". I guess you have since you have one or a few around your trailer park. Hope your dream of owning a double wide comes true. read more
