I've been going to TDC for a year and a half so far, and they are fantastic! This review is a bit overdue. The office is very nicely set up. The waiting area is clean and professional. Each room is set up like a pretty standard dental office, very clean. On my first visit, they told me they like to do a full set of x-rays just to get an idea of what my teeth are like overall, but my insurance didn't cover for a full set. So they told me they will still do the full x-ray set, but just write it as whatever my insurance will cover, and they will cover the remaining cost. How great is that?!? The staff is wonderful and courteous, also very punctual. I'm never waiting in the waiting room for more than 5 minutes. The cleanings are done nice and quickly, I'm in and out in less than an hour. Dr. Vaandehaar is great! He always makes suggestions for me to consider, but is never pushy about getting anything done that isn't absolutely necessary. For example, when I had a cavity, he obviously strongly recommended that I take care of it asap. But when it came to some preventative things, he told me what was going on, and what some options are and said it's something to think about. The only complaint that I have is, they do send A LOT of appointment reminders via email and text, multiple times leading up to your appointment. Yes, you can totally opt out of it, so I guess this is really on me. Also, TDC is the only place that staff actually came in and sang happy birthday to me during my cleaning. It was so sweet! By far the best dental office I've been to. Highly recommended. (And I'm not just saying that because of the singing) read more

Transparency in pricing. I had some dental work done and every step kept nearly doubling the price of my care plan. When I brought up the original quote in email they kept stating that the new charges were correct. Were talking a difference of over $4,000. At the same time as they overcharge their current cliental decietfully they do some other charitable work in the community. So I hate going to the dentist, HATE IT! Not to mention when I had previous work done my top FRONT 2 teeth, they messed up the filling so that it basicly Promoted a giant black cavity to form After they used enough novacaine that I had to manually blink my right eye and felt like I got sucker punched for almost a week. Dr. Vandehaar and the team at TCD listened when I said I was down right scared but really wanted to like my smile. I was nervous going in. They explained EVERY step, checking on me multiple times during the visit, both my physical and emotional comfort. They even checked on me a day or 2 later to see how I was doing. I am Totally convinced I pick the best! I had to go back a few days later because of pain and my teeth not lining up from the new fillings. No problem! I have not even had my appointment yet but I can already say good things. I called today trying to become a new patient with them because I have a sore tooth. They were able to get me in the same day. I am writing this review from their lobby. I have had terrible experiences at other dental practices. During my new patient paperwork, they even asked if I have ever had a bad experience and if I am afraid to go the dentist. (Which I am). Dr. Vandehaar has been my dentist for the last 3 years. In that short amount of time, he and the other team members at TCD have done so much for me! He fixed the pain in one of my teeth that I had been dealing with for years (the result of bad dental work in the past) with one simple procedure, figured out how to actually numb me with Lidocaine or whatever (I have always just dealt with feeling the drilling while it's happening), fixed my bite so my teeth come together correctly (preventing my teeth from constantly breaking as well as eliminating the 2-3 headaches/week I have gotten since I can remember), and gave me a bright beautiful smile that I am proud to display. I always thought people that talked about cosmetic dentistry "changing their lives" seemed a bit dramatic unless it was an extreme circumstance, but the confidence I have gained as a result of my new smile never ceases top amaze me. Dr Vandehaar is a most capable and compassionate Dentist. He came to our aid in a very dire moment. My 7 year old daughter fell on a hike at Devil's Lake and knocked out her front permanent teeth. It was a bloody very frightening event for all of us. As we were visiting from out of state and without our familiar resources we were so lucky to connect with him over the holiday weekend!! I have suffered severe chronic illness as a result of a dental cavitation that formed after a tooth extraction I had done here. Dr. Vandehaar claims he cleaned the area all out but never informed me that a cavitation would likely form and eventually cause widespread systemic infection and chronic illness. These cavitations can happen often without pain or inflammation and cause significant widespread health complications that are common in both root canals procedures and tooth extractions. Multiple dangerous and toxic bacteria and a host of other extremely dangerous bio-toxic pathogens grow the jaw bone and leak out into your entire system especially the heart through the lymphatic system causing diseases like CFS/CIRS/POTS/LUPUS and susceptibility to a host of other serious chronic health issues due to the toxic overload from the infected cavitation or root canal. Never was the word cavitation mentioned to me and never did I receive any care to make sure this was not the case. Traditional dentists have a responsibility to learn the truth about these dental extractions and root canals as many people are beginning to wake up to this significant health crisis of serious chronic disease as a result of improper and uneducated dental care. I'm now having to pay to have ozone therapy and I'm hopeful that this will heal and lessen the overall toxic burden I carry as a result of all of this. You cannot simply remove a tooth without taking out ALL of the ligament, cleaning it properly and then using ozone therapy and imagining to ensure that cavitations don't develop, otherwise you risk causing significant life-threatening harm to your clients. Please do whatever you can to avoid having a root canal or dental extraction by a traditional dentist due to the probability of developing a cavitation. It's not worth developing something like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Gullian-Barre, breast cancer or any of these many chronic disease that a cavitation can lead to according to the documentary "The Root Cause" I have told Dr. Vandehaar about my cavatation and he remains sympathetic but takes no responsibility. The responsibility is mine, so I urge you to educate and inform yourself and do whatever it take to protect yourself when you receive dental care from a conventional dentist who does not take these matters seriously. You will end up will a serious chronic illness while they shrug their shoulders and tell you they did nothing wrong. I'm glad Dr. Vandehaar is having a good life and has a happy family but he needs to seriously consider the life of his patients and their ability to be happy and have a life. They can't do that if they have multiple toxins entering their blood stream through a deadly and hidden jaw bone infection they were never warmed about while receiving his care. read more

A very new office on Odana Rd. My favorite dentist in another practice left last year, so I decided to check out the dentist (Dr. Besley) here. He was very personable, patient, and thorough. I also like that the practice is not too business-oriented like many other places in Madison. The hygenist, Melissa, was extremely gentle, whic I liked. I plan to keep going back! read more
