But when his proposal came in MUCH cheaper than the other two we received, it was a no brainer. First Choice pushed up the project to start on OUR timeline so demo would happen while we were out of town. Throughout the process, they were respectful about all the tedium and details we asked for and always made adjustments with a smile and without raising pricing on us. They dealt with supply chain issues and other challenges during COVID, but they got it done and we couldn't be more happy with the result. The initial work was done by a subcontractor and was good, with the exception of a couple spots that weren't 100% perfect. We communicated our concerns to First Choice and they very promptly returned to our house to address the issue and did everything they could to ensure we were fully satisfied with the work. Only reviewing based of consultation... but out of 5 consultations we had this one was by far this worst and most unprofessional. Not to mention ridiculously overpriced. We have a very small kitchen and the gentlemen stated it would be 40k. However this was not the end all for me with them. The gentlemen proceeded to state that they are going to reject bidding on our project because it was "too small for their company" I'm not sure how our project is too small at 40k for a basic remodel. He would also mention that their company is currently working on another kitchen remodel similar to ours that was pay 28k. So all around very confusing, demeaning and just unprofessional. Nonetheless we went with another highly professional and Friendly company that will do our dream kitchen for 32k. read more

Rep wore a mask the whole time, but he was only here for 20 minutes and spent most of it bitching about the process to pull permits. When we received the estimate, I literally had to ask him if we were in the same room. I swear he could NOT have listened to a thing that we said. The estimate missed a huge part of what we said we want & included things that we never talked about and do NOT desire. Then when I ask specific questions, he GUESSES - what so he can charge for extras after the fact and make tons more money?? Then they say I can call and ask my questions??? After interviewing many contractors, we came across First Choice Home Improvements. We wanted to remodel the Kitchen, Master bath and fireplace all at once. After meeting with the owner Mike, we decided to pick them for this project. One of the key points was their team having a designer that could push us outside what we were aware of. Muna hit a home run with the design submitted. Then the whole process of construction went off without a hitch. Thank you to the foreman Dennis, for putting up with me the entire time as the small changes were met with a "can do" attitude every time. We recently finished a bathroom remodel with First Choice Home Improvements. We got several quotes and theirs was the most reasonable that included the most choices. I really liked the fact I was given the cost upfront with latitude to make choices within a range of prices. There were no changes to the cost once the remodel started. The project started and finished on time. There was someone working everyday and they cleaned up at the end of the day. The contractor even came back to hang a mirror once I found one I liked. Last month, August 2018, we decided to remodel a kitchen which was built in 1980. We just moved to the San Diego area and wanted the job done timely and at a fair price. We all hear horror stories about a kitchen remodel that you are promised a short lead-time to get it done and it turns into months! I even worked in this field for over 25 years and still was concerned about this issue, Well we interviewed about 5 companies and decided upon First Choice. Let me tell you why. We have a kitchen that was U-shaped and very small. Approx. 20' x 18' or 360 sq. ft. It had a pocket door opening into the dining room that was 30" wide. If you were working in the kitchen you felt like you were hemmed in on all sides. So we wanted a company that could demolish the wall, install ceiling fixtures and lay flooring. You're probably thinking anyone can do that. Sure but can they do it in the time frame you want it done? Well I am here to tell you Mike Miller the owner can and will do it. He personally came to see us 3 times because I was concerned about all the here-say about promises the job will be done in X weeks and it takes months. Let me tell you how long ours took- less than 14 working days or 3 weeks. That's right from demo to countertops, to laying floors and putting back all the appliances and tile on the walls. Everyday someone showed up, worked 10 hours, cleaned up and the next day another team would show up to continue the project. Mike personally showed up at least 5 times during the time to Check-in with us and make sure the job was being done. The trash was picked up several times so that we didn't have to look at all the mess created from the tear down. The walls into other rooms were taped up with heavy plastic sheets to reduce the dust in the house. We did have some glitches because like us all we see things during the job and say wow I would like to do this instead. Well because mike spent time coming over we were able to flex minor changes as we went along. I think mike has a good grasp of the fact customers will want minor changes as they see the kitchen progress and he is very good about working with you. His team including Rene, the project manager are great to work with. The installer, Corbin was great. If he found any minor defects in the cabinets he would replace it ASAP because it didn't meet his standards. Andrew, let's say the man of all trades was fantastic. He made recommendations where we had concerns and worked with us to make sure we were 100% satisfied. All the other people that did the floors, or any other part of the kitchen were fantastic. We have received nothing but compliments from our friends about the kitchen. By the way we went with USA made cabinets and not custom. They look great! I rarely write reviews because hey we all don't have to take the time or everyone knows someone so why bother. Well if you care about timeliness, honesty, keeping your word and getting what you are promised then First Choice should be at the top of your list! We needed to remodel both of our bathrooms, and First Choice turned out to be an excellent choice. They were very professional and thoroughly explained everything during the process. Mike, Shaina, and Rena were super helpful and responsive, which made the whole thing less stressful. Neal, who was in charge of our project, and crew were great and did excellent work.
