Over the years, our two-story home had a first-floor addition to expand the living space. A wall with openings remained, dividing this space from the kitchen and family room. We decided to remove the wall and create a larger, open space with a much larger kitchen. We discussed this project with four builders and received quotes. Project - Bathroom Remodel This was the second home-project with NOMA, and I'm happy to share that 4 years later the quality of their work is still fabulous!! The project was extensive, we removed the second bathroom, made the guest room into an en-suite, and carved out an additional half bathroom within that space. NOMA's team worked on the design, the plan approvals, putting in new plumbing, moving walls, working with permits and inspections... all while our family of 4 were living in the house!! This review is of the quoting experience with Noma Design and Build. I was able to schedule an estimate with their front desk person who assigned me a Project Manager Matan. Matan was on time, transparent, and very professional. He was able to provide me with answers to questions related to our Bathroom Renovation. He was able to also share with us all information related to his company's contracting license and bond/insurance info. He was able to provide us with an initial quote and had no issues modifying the scope of work to update us with quote revisions. I worked with Matt and Noma on a Master and Hallway Bathroom remodel. We got multiple bids and they came in competitively. I was also very satisfied by the upfront communication and attention we were getting leading up to signing. Throughout the remodel process, Matt was incredibly easy to reach and communicative the whole time. I was never left wondering what was going on or waiting for a response. Even when Matt was out of the country on a family emergency, he would respond to my messages and make sure someone would check in. Given that we work from home, Matt was always respectful of my schedule and would never expect an immediate response. He also never rushed me to pay after a step was completed and worked with me on timing. I was extremely satisfied by the end product, and Matt even went to pretty great lengths to fix a minor issue that we felt like we could live with, but were not happy about. The bathrooms look amazing and the space is a million times more functional. All told, the process took about 6 months when we expected it to take 2 months to complete. I would not fault Matt or Noma for the delays, as it was a combination of poor timing and COVID-related issues (there were at least 3 instances where we or they had been exposed and had to be in quarantine). They also were initially working around other remodeling work we were doing, which delayed some things early on. I did think there were a couple instances where I thought that if things were done ahead of time, we could have gotten some time back, but there really was no way for them to know we were about to go into 2 weeks of quarantine right before they measured something that would take 2 weeks to build (as an example). There's two constructive recommendations I would give, though the process worked out smooth enough. 1) I would have appreciated a pick list of finished materials along with timing of when I need to acquire them. There were a couple times where I felt rushed to purchase a finished material when I expected to have more time to choose/comparison shop. 2) Though I'm very satisfied with the medicine cabinet that was installed, I had wished we had received final drawings of the cabinet prior to it getting ordered. We had seen a sketch, made recommendations for changes, and then the cabinet appeared looking completely different. What we got was beautiful and functional, but we are somewhat left wondering what other options there were. As mentioned, I am thrilled to be in my new bathroom and would definitely consider working with Noma again in the future! read more

Thanks to NOMA, we got a great kitchen remodel! The end result looks fantastic and the price was very competitive. Matt was very responsive and always pleasant to work with. He made sure any problems that came up were dealt with without costing us extra money. NOMA helped us design our kitchen, install tiled floors, replace bathroom vanity, install a bathroom closet and install recessed lighting. However, there were a few mistakes made along the way which prevent us from giving a 5/5. I'll try to break them down into a few specific categories. Customer Service: 5/5 Matt made sure we were always 100% happy and ensured that any fixes were taken care of (even if they took more time and money from his side). An example would be when the flooring company gave us the wrong grout color. Matt sent his guys to redo our grout at no cost to us. End Product 5/5 Our kitchen looks absolutely amazing, check out the before and after pictures. The workers that Matt hires are really good at what they do! The other items they installed, such as the lighting, bathroom vanity and the custom closet for our bedroom were also expertly finished. Price 5/5 We got 8 quotes. NOMA was the second most competitive. And the quality seemed to be just as good as the more expensive options. Planning and Execution 3/5 NOMA estimated 6-8 weeks. It ended up taking 4 months due to a few preventable mistakes: I shared a link to a dishwasher which included all dimensions. Come time to install the dishwasher, it didn't fit because its door handle blocked an adjacent drawer from opening. The dishwasher had to be returned and replaced with one that had a different design. Another issue was that the contractors almost cut the counter for a cooking range rather than a wall oven/cooktop, even though the rendering and design had the cooktop/wall oven illustrated. Thankfully, I was at home at the time and caught this before the countertop stone was cut. Last major issue was our bathroom vanity. We provided a link to dual sinks that we thought looked good. They actually ended up being too big, and were installed too close to the wall for elbow room. The faucet ended up having about a hair of clearance from the backsplash. Some prior calculations, and a design template showing us where exactly the sinks would go could have prevented this. However, this is where the customer service ended up shining because NOMA bought us a new countertop and made sure the sinks fit properly the second time around. 5/5 experience with NOMA Design for my kitchen remodel! I was so lucky to find them on the Next Door App and saw some photos of awesome kitchen and bathroom remodels they did. They can do a full house remodeling FYI! Starting with the initial phonecall to the business line, I was helped by a friendly and professional employee. She then made a call to the project manager and texted me when he was on the way. The project manager (Matt) was able to come out and take a look at my kitchen that same day. The following day he had his brother (the owner) come take a look to also suggest things and they were both so helpful. They gave me a lot of advice that would fit in my budget and general advice on what would make my space look as big as it could be. Even though my main focus was a kitchen remodel, I asked if they could help me replace all my blinds, paint the condo, install appliances and some more minor stuff that they all were open to doing. After signing the contract, Matt suggested some countertop and backsplash companies and met me onsite to give me their discounted pricing on the spot. He was really reliable and knowledgeable with the products and their quality. Their team would pick up all the supplies and made it easy for me since I'd have to go to work. I thought the construction team onsite was respectful of my home and did a great job at not damaging anything. For payments, they do stage of payments. Mike is a great communicator and responds to calls or voicemails quickly. Julia in the office was great as well as Yuki who came by almost daily to check on the process and followed up on things for us when needed. Offered to come out to do measurements and when I asked for a estimate with the measurements I provided they told me it's a small job.

We would like to thank Noma Design & Build for their help with some part of our kitchen project that Lowes almost screwed up. Initially we ordered kitchen countertop at Lowes. With Lowes we had only 3 options within our budget and price range. Then we were waiting for a call back to schedule measurements and it took another week or two. Then we were waiting for next available appointment to take measurements and it took about another 2 weeks. Then we were wasting time on phone calls to Lowes and their contractor just to figure out what the next steps are. Then we were waiting about a week for the next available appointment to come to warehouse just to check stone sample that we already choose at Lowes store before, and then we had to wait for the phone call from the other company that does cutting work (cutting itself would take about 1-2 weeks). And then we would have to wait for the installation for another 3-4 weeks. And also we figured out that Lowes price was incorrect and we would pay extra $800. We decided to cancel agreement with Lowes and to loose about $120 for measurements. By the way, Lowes didn't want to give us measurements even after we paid for it. Fortunately, we met Noma Design & Build. They gave us contacts of countertop stores which had good variety of choices within our budget! It took them 3 days to buy countertop slab, take measurements, cut it and install! So, 3 days with Noma Design & Build against minimum 60 days with Lowes! We saved money and time! My wife and I live in a 1980s home that needed some updating. We weren't sure if to start with the bathrooms or the kitchen or the floors. Mike was very helpful in that we split the projects up by first floor And second floor. We started with the downstairs floors, kitchen and powder bath then when that was completed we did all the upstairs. Everything was done to perfection! He has the best tile guys out there! It wasn't the cheapest bid we got but it was the middle one of the 3, but we got top dollar results! The whole crew was so respectful considering Covid and always wore a mask when we were home! The customer service they provided us was spectacular. We debated to sell or remodel but we are so happy we did these projects because we now added value to our home!
