The business itself was super cute! They have snacks and toys available and we were really impressed with that. However, the lady who cut my son's hair did a truly horrible job. I feel bad saying that, because it's someone's livelihood, but it looks so bad, almost as if she was trying to win an award for worst cut ever. Yes, I swear it was actually that awful. All our family members asked us what happened to him and where we went so they could make sure never to go! All I can say is it was a Thursday, and no one else was working that mid-morning except for this woman. I feel awful as she is also a mom and I don't want to hurt her career but it was an awful enough cut to write this review. His hair was beyond choppy, and looked piecemealed without rhyme or reason. A friend jokes that he looked like he was being shipped off to serve in the Russian army. I actually wish it looked like a clean crew cut or something like that but this was just out of this world awful. read more

The only salon I will bring my kids to. Such a clean and big shop, and friendly staff. My toddler has screamed and cried at every haircut and we were mentally prepared and even warned the hairdresser. She took some time to play with him and make him feel comfortable. Whether your kids are young or old, First Cut is a great salon for children of any age to get a haircut! My son used to hate getting his haircut. Then we started coming here! Lulu is wonderful. She is patient and kind. She is really great with squirmy kids that just can't sit still. Finally, my son doesn't mind getting his haircut anymore. This place is really cute. There are these little planes for the youngest kids to sit and relax in while getting a haircut. There are also televisions throughout the salon so kids can watch their favorite Disney or Nickelodeon programming while getting a trim. They also sell lots of great shampoos and conditioners for babies here. They have a good selection of natural products. These products are nice for children that are more sensitive. I wish I knew about these great items when my son was really little. For a great haircut at a reasonable price, First Cut is a wonderful place for a child's haircut! We've been going to this salon since my son was one and he fit in the airplane seat. He's now 12 and refuses to get his hair cuts anywhere else, even though he outgrew the plane seat years ago. Lulu and Kurt and terrific with kids; they cut hair so fast the kid barley has time to register a complaint. But since they are watching a video, if you like, they are also happily entertained. Nari was a really sweet lady and asked Rachael (by name) which chair she wanted to sit in. I think that the disposition of the stylist makes a huge difference with the kiddos - I mean what person would want their hair cut by a scary unapproachable person right? ;) She gave us a little envelope with Rachael's first clipped locks of hair, and asked us throughout the cut what we liked, wanted etc. This was nice as she seemed to put us at ease by keeping us involved in the process (it was a big deal for me OK? lol) Once done, she style Rachael's hair and even blow dried it too. My 2 year 4 months old daughter finally had enough hair to get her 1st haircut. We called first to schedule the appointment at 3:15pm on a Sunday and by 3:30pm we were in the airplane. The reason for the delay was because the place was pretty packed with kids before us. Which is a good sign. My daughter was scared and she started screaming and crying when we placed her in the airplane. Lulu was VERY patient and tried to calm her down with Nick Jr., toys, and sound books. She gave my daughter time to figure out a position that will allow her to trim her hair. The final position was a STANDING position, with one leg in, one leg out of the airplane, while holding on to my arms, and her other hand was on my smartphone. That made my daughter calm enough so Lulu can start cutting. Lulu explained to me how much she was going to cut and to make sure I was ok with it. Then she started trimming away and saving the hair inside an little envelope. Within a few minutes the whole trimming was done and she tied up my daughter's hair in a cute hairdo with flowers in it. Of course by then my daughter didn't want to get out of the plane. We were able to take pictures and video the event with our own camera. For $24 a haircut, it was pricey but I do get what I pay for. read more

After reading all the Yelp reviews I decided to take my son there for his 1st professional haircut. He is 17 months and I tried cutting his fine hair a few months back but it came out horrible. We went at 3 pm on December 26 so the place was empty. The salon is very well decorated and inviting for children. Lulu was quick and precise. He did ok for the first part but when she turned on the clippers he freaked out. She was extremely calm and patient with him. She did great job! Highly recommend this cute salon for little ones. My only negative thought is the lack of seat belt on the airplane chairs. I have an active boy and he just wanted to stand. A seat belt would have prevented so much freedom. read more

Like many parents, we'd been delaying our 1-year old son's first haircut for fear that it would be a traumatic experience for him (and us)...or maybe not even possible for him to sit still long enough. Lulu from First Cut to the rescue! She made him feel comfortable with her soothing voice and friendliness. She genuinely seems like kids, and I think they can feel that. My son also enjoyed getting to sit in a rocket ship with a steering wheel while watching himself in the mirror. My husband took pictures while I held my son upright in the little rocket. It was very manageable and pleasant--fun, even. Lulu works quickly and the cut was over in less than 15 minutes. She even collected some of his cut curls for us to keep in his baby book. Twenty bucks + tip does seem like a lot, but I think it was worth it to spend a few extra dollars and have a pleasant experience. Love the way Cathy cuts my son's hair! He's got long hair so most hairstylists want to just shorten it into a typical boy's cut. But Cathy understands the length and layers it so it doesn't look like it just got cut. She's super friendly so my son looks forward to going and chatting with her about roller coasters! Another FANTASTIC visit with Lulu!! We brought our now 14 month old who still isn't quite ready to sit in the airplane seat, so she expertly draped me and went to work on him as he sat on my lap.
