As a bank they're okay but I hate having to sign in and be ushered into an office because I don't want to deposit cash into an ATM And when I asked about securing my own loan with cash I got a big lecture on bringing in all my bills for consolidation and approval. My experience with First Entertainment Credit Union has been extremely disappointing and harmful to my credit. They encourage you to apply for a credit card and, during the application process, they place a hard inquiry on your credit report. After that, without proper explanation or transparency, they close the credit card account and then report the closed account to the credit bureaus. This process unnecessarily damages your credit history and credit score. A hard inquiry followed by an immediately closed account reflects very negatively on a consumer's credit report and can cause long-term harm. This is one of the worst credit union experiences I have ever had. I strongly do not recommend First Entertainment Credit Union to anyone, especially if you care about protecting your credit history. read more

I have had an account with First Entertainment for more than 20 years. It was handy when I worked at Warner Bros in Burbank (yes, this branch is nowhere near Hollywood). I have stuck with them even after leaving WB out of convenience. I never have a need to go into a physical bank and all my deposits are through direct deposit. However they are no longer convenient and more like the polar opposite. My issues with them are somewhat general and personal. They have no after hours personnel to answer any questions you might have regarding your account. For example last night I noticed a transaction on my account which showed I paid Taco Bell $466.11. I did not want to wait until morning for an answer but I had to, so if you are someone that needs a bank 24/7 then this is not a good fit. On top of that even during regular business hours they rarely answer the phone and you must leave a message and wait for a call back. My other issue with them is more personal. I have been with them over 2 decades and during that time I have taken out multiple loans and all were paid without a hitch. Evidently with First Ent. your track record is irrelevant. I recently applied for a new loan and was denied. They said my debt to income ratio was not sufficient, but I find that comical in a way since my credit report shows a spotless record of on time payments to all of my creditors. If anyone's debt to income ratio was so great they would not be borrowing money in the first place unless it is a huge loan like a house or car but those are considered collateral anyway so their formula for granting credit is flawed. This is not a "man scorned" review, this is just a personal observation. Find yourself a financial institution that is "there for you" when you need them. read more

I have been with this bank for close to 30 years. They provide excellent car loans and home loans. I got some good solid rates that I can vouch for. The only complaint that I have are the long wait lines at the branch and I miss their old coin machine. Besides that, these guys are amazing. read more

With that being said this credit union used to be top tier, now it's a hollow, putrid, rancid shadow of what it used to be, yes a shadow can stink it's called "must". FEC has gone down hill. Fraudulent call center representatives who are 3rd party contracted, so there credit card/visa isn't even their own. Rude, unintelligent employees. Hell you can't even walk in a branch anymore. Branches closing. Did I mention rude, fraudulent activity. Had to get the VP to refund a fraudulent/frivolous overdraft charge. They try to control your money, give you fees when nothing been done wrong. They absolutely lie when it comes to promotional packages and offers. Lots of re-nigging. We were members here for almost 30 years but are so happy to have left. They used to be a really great place, especially for people working in the industry. Now they are terrible, since the CEO change of 3 years ago. No customer service. You need an appointment to do anything in the bank that is not an ATM. Poor fraud protection. Inept managers. We had a fraud issue they would not reimburse despite it being their fault. They didn't connect our billpayer to a new account so that all of our scheduled bills were not paid and we received late payment penalties. You might think you're getting a great deal on rates but when you come down to it, they have cost us more than they saved. Go somewhere else. read more

If you are considering banking with FE - find a different bank! In the last few years this bank has been declining, which is so sad to me because I used to tell people to bank here. Recently, they closed the branch on Olive. I wanted to change the beneficiary on my accounts, but they don't allow you to do it online like most financial institutions do. If you want to send it securely to them online, you have to print the form out and get it notarized before sending it back. So I came into this branch yesterday to get the form, and found out that if I want to bring it back in to the branch in person to avoid having to get it notarized, I have to make an appointment or wait to meet with someone at the bank. I also needed two rolls of quarters, but the person that did it for me - instead of just taking it out of my account like they've done in the past at the teller windows, the guy asked me to go take $20 out of the ATM to exchange it. I'm not sure why they closed the teller windows, and just made it all private offices. Maybe it makes it more private, but I feel like before you had the option to use the teller window or sign up to meet with someone at a desk. Seems like everything they are doing now is making it less convenient for the customer. Sadly for me, its time to find a new bank. read more

The WORST customer service I've ever encountered from a financial institution. Communicated multiple times over email in regard to the status of loan application and its process. Felt ignored and when they finally reached out was told that they were busy, that not to worry they would get back to me. It wasn't until the almost the 2 month to the day mark when I phoned in and was told that they would have to ding my credit again because the application was late and since it was 450pm on Friday, mind you after I was on hold and spoke to multiple people for 30-45 minutes, I would have to wait until the following week because it was late in the day and including of a Holiday Monday, I would therefore have to virtually re-apply. I lost my S***. I couldn't believe it!! Called in an alleged Sup. and let them have it. All of the sudden they promptly processed the loan within 10 minutes that day and promised me that I would not get dinged and all was OK! Well guess what America..!? I got dinged twice. I'm so f* pissed off as this is a reflection of the current state of this country. People just getting by doing just enough and not having any pride in their work or holding a standard. I'm not one to call people by their name in public but they should be embarrassed. I was holding back writing this review as I was out of the country but going back to my credit report I'm just so pissed off!! Unbelievable!!! I don't need anyone reaching out to me...for what!!? I had the occasion today to visit this branch as I did not care for the lack of courtesy that I got from my normal local Burbank branch. Straight away I was greeted with 23 ounces of respect and courtesy via a sincere how may I help you today? From this branch manager to his agents whom listened to my needs and took action to give me an update via a foreign collections matter. I left with a smile on my face knowing that they will follow through:) Easy to find parking, pleasant staff and again I was treated with a degree of courtesy which one would hope to get from their bank and where they've done business and or held an account for as long as Ive been working in the television and film industry. Looking back this same branch gave me my first loan way back when I was a runner for Epic and Vision Films in the 90s. They made it extremely hard for me to pay off my mortgage and home equity line of credit. They actually rejected the final payment for the mortgage and sent it back to my bank. And when I went in, the bank teller named Sahara didn't want to accept the payment. For the HELOC, they kept adding new fees. I complained to the California Banking Commission and just got a refund via cashiers check for one of the mysterious HELOC fees. My first name is misspelled on the check. Typical. read more

I got a car loan. The interest wasn't any different than anywhere else. The first payment I made to make sure everything worked okay. Instead of the payment going toward the next due date; it went toward the interest. I was not allowed a choice on where the payment went. I then made a regular payment. No issue. The next payment showed due. I paid it. This is not reflected as a payment. I guess it went to the "Interest" bucket. It did not go to the car payment; which is still due. I've tried to call but can't get anyone on the weekend. I'm calling again and have been on hold for 20 minutes so far. All this because of bankers greed. I shouldn't have to spend an afternoon trying straighten it out. I should be able to deal with this online. It's an unnecessary stress. They make extra money by not allowing us to pay the principal or even the payment a little early. I apparently can't make a payment before the due date. It has to be on the exact due date or I have to call the bank to get the payment to go where it actually needs to go. The bank makes more money off me & I have to spend 30+ minutes to straighten it out. It seems they are trying to push a checking account into the borrower to make the payment go smoothly. It would be smoother if I could make my payments on their site but no. I can't simply make a payment or pay principal without making a phone call. No reason for making payments difficult. We have been using them for many years and have most of our major accounts with them. They are good for many simple things. THAT SAID... First Entertainment Credit Union is deciding to play it conservatively during the strike. Letters and posts about "caring for your finances" are essentially lip service. Don't count on them. One would think that members with TONS of equity in a house could get a HELOC right now (when it would be a very useful way of consolidating bills, tiding over during the strike, etc. Instead, FECU is saying no - even to people with stellar 830+ credit scores, flawless payment histories, a million+ in equity in a house. The reason? DECLINING INCOME! Uh DUH??? There is a real irony to a credit union that is ABOUT HOLLYWOOD WORKERS doesn't seem to be stepping up to the plate at all - and that a SAFE investment on their part is being denied. Getting an account with First Entertainment was such an amazing experience! The service is amazing. However, recently I was told false information from a customer service rep about check holds. After confirming this during the call, I drove more than 30 minutes to be told by a bank advisor I was told false information by the rep. She apologized and said she would call me before EOD with an update to my issue & I never heard from her. Buyer beware "Free" credit score monitoring on the First Entertainment website is not the score they use for loans. The one they use is over 20 points lower. Do not get a loan with First Entertainment unless you have fully checked your credit score with all three reports and made sure it's updated or you'll be paying a shitload more in interest. The still have not corrected this or informed anyone about this on the website. It's incredibly misleading. Thank for responding. Definitely consider banking here over a Bank if the location is convenient. **They have a great fee-free HSA IRA account you can get. Most Banks charge for their HSA depleting the money you need for medical care. This is one of the few places that offers it for free. The folks that work here are pleasant and you can get the personal service that you can never get at a Bank. You can make an appointment online too. Parking is free in their lot and there is plenty of 2-hour street parking. It's also a nice neighborhood. They have a state of the art ATM in front. If you work in the entertainment business or live in Los Angeles you qualify to become a member. They have a number of other branches around LA. You can use the ATM card at any Credit Union ATM anywhere in the USA for no ATM charge. Rule of thumb for successful finances in life: Avoid Large Banks and their fees and low savings rates--Use Credit Unions. read more

I went in today because I had a balance on a credit card that I wanted transferred into my checking account but they were unable to perform this relatively simple task because their machine only works with Visa. We took our first home mortgage loan from FECU and had a top notch client experience. Edward Chou and Jenny Pineda had been an excellent partner throughout the process. Starting from Day 1, Edward provided ample time and thorough guidance in each and every step. He is extremely knowledgeable about various mortgage loan products and understands the client needs to recommend the best suited product. He showed excellent communication skills and always approachable for any questions either from us or by our agents. Generally, credit unions are known for taking longer time for loan processing but with First Entertainment and working with Edward and Jenny, we were able to close the escrow within 30 days (considering we had Christmas and New Year holidays). As a first time home buyer, we were grateful and to be honest, a bit relaxed with Edward being our loan officer and Jenny as a loan processor. Thank you for the seamless process. read more

Absolutely awful! My car broker negotiated a loan with them for a new car - advising me there was no penalty for paying the car off in full, which I did in July. I have yet to receive the title for my car. It is now October. They are holding the title to my car - that I own outright - hostage. Additionally, each time I call, they tell me it's a clerical error or that they will now submit to the state DMV. It is time to engage with legal counsel as I paid off the car and I own it, yet have no proof of ownership since First Entertainment Credit Union refuses to send me the title, which I am rightfully due. read more

Love, love, love our credit union! FECU makes banking easy and the service that I receive here is excellent. Any issues that I have, are always taken care of in a timely manner and I never have to worry about anything with them. On May 26th, I spoke with Felipe, who assisted me with a purchase that I made with a fraudulent company who sold kitchenware. The main concern was trying to prevent another charge from my account being that I've never received the product. Felipe was empathetic and quick to resolve my issue. I just want to say that I've been with this credit union for almost nine years now and I've NEVER had an issue that couldn't be resolved. I've never received bad customer service EVER. When you wagon in, you are immediately acknowledged, whether it is from the security guard or staff from member services. All around, always a pleasant experience with every visit. Been with FECU for a few years now. My re-fi was a pleasant experience, but my new auto loan experience is atrocious. They didn't reach out to me during the specified time duration and I had to call multiple times to get someone to process the loan. They said they would send out an overnight check to the dealership but that obviously didn't happen. Customer Support is currently taking an hour and a half to call back. And when they did call back, the agent on the line suddenly couldn't hear me and we got disconnected. And most of the time before that can happen, they will disconnect you right at the beginning of the call before anyone says anything, probably because they're up in the call center software que but want to take a break, so they just hang up on the customer. The only reason they get a 2 instead of a 1 is because, overall, they've been a fine credit union. They need to get their business affairs in order. Their online support is a joke. read more
