Moving to the sorta-country has exposed me to insects that I didn't even know existed. I'm talkin creepy crawlies on a Jurassic scale. Bugs so big that they've made me afraid to step out of my home. I'm a city girl and I am just not used to this... ...And I wasn't about to get used to this either, so I hopped on Yelp to gather some quotes for some much needed pest control services. Chris from First Gen was one of the first to respond, and he was by far the most professional. He was able to squeeze me in for a next day consultation and he was both incredibly personable and wonderfully professional the whole time. During our appointment, I didn't feel like I was being sold on anything. Instead of trying to pressure me into one solution or another, he took the time to ask informed questions and get a better understanding of my needs and concerns, before making any recommendations. I walked him through the areas of my property where I was seeing the most activity and he was able to take my vague descriptions to help me identify exactly what I was seeing (because I swear some of these bugs I've never seen before in my life. There must be some new ones out here!). He then developed a customized treatment plan for how to address these particular pests, and keep them away so that I can enjoy my patio, my yard, and ultimately my property with a greater degree of comfort and ease. We scheduled my first appointment for the day after our consultation. He was very mindful and respectful of my property, as well as mindful not to disrupt my workday (since I work from home) as he perform the treatments. The cost of the services was more than fair, especially given how thorough he was with the treatments... and how please I am with the results. Chris was able to answer all of my questions thoroughly, as well as explain every product he used (He even had eco-friendly pest control products!), what it was used for, and what I could expect in the coming days and weeks. At the end of the appointment, I felt like I had a good understanding of what services were performed, which products were intended to treat which problem, and what to expect from future appointments. So far, things have been just as Chris described. I've seen exponentially less creepy crawlies (most of the ones I have seen have been dead, allowing me to sweep them into the grass) and the mosquito activity has plummeted dramatically. I feel much more comfortable not only being able to go outside again, but also to have friends and family over to hang out in the yard without having to worry about us being attacked by the worst that nature has to offer. If you want a good company, go with First Gen Pest Solutions. First Gen Pest Solutions was awesome. When I called and explained I had a plan with Harris Pest Control but at the first sign of mice, Harris told me it was wildlife so call this other dude. Harris wouldn't even come out to inspect - which is what I paid for. I relayed this to First Gen and where I was located, he said I doubt it's wildlife cause you aren't near any tall trees or power poles that would enable access. He inspected from top to bottom and found evidence of mice. He came up with a plan of attack and over the last couple of months he caught a couple and eradicated the others. Now I hear nothing and seem to be mice free. I highly recommend Mr. Ward. He knows his business, is very professional and reasonably priced. read more

This was my first time buying pest control services and I have to say Chris made it really easy on us. I reached out to several companies to get quotes and Chris made the most compelling offer. Fortunately, we didn't have any active pest issues, but rather we wanted to close up all entry points on the old house we just purchased. Some companies aren't even willing to plug those holes or will charge you an extreme amount of money to do it. Chris said it would be no problem, and sure enough he happily closed all the entry points into our house that he could find. He also sprayed a non-toxic, non-harmful-to-humans-and-pets spray inside and outside. Overall, it was an extremely relaxed process. Chris is a really, really nice guy. Like he actually cares about doing a good job, unlike some other companies that are there to just collect a pay check. I moved into a brand new build and have had the horror of field mice trying to take over my space. First Gen Pest Solutions came in with a last minute call and caught one mice on the spot. They looked through the house and was able to identify areas that were vulnerable to mice. We then realized that the mice had been in the house during the build and made babies so we had a whole family to evict. After about a month of stressing about these non rent paying tenants, we caught the last one and two weeks later I have not seen any evidence of mice in the home. I'm still on the lookout, but so far so good. read more
