This Waipahu location is nice sharing lot with Don Quijote among other tenants as well it didn't take very long to get my banking done in comparison to town location which was nice as I already was running behind on my errands. Banking in Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii... First Hawaiian Bank collaborated with four Small Local Businesses and gave away large prizes to Hawaii residents on Instagram. Wow! I happened to be a lucky winner for the gift certificate to Sakura Restaurant in Mililani. Yay! Thank you! Via Instagram messaging, the Social Media Team of First Hawaiian Bank contacted me to complete some forms. I told them that I don't have a printer and asked if I could go to a branch to sign the forms. I chose the Waipahu location of First Hawaiian Bank because Honolulu locations are kind of busy, don't have free parking, and probably don't have as much time to chat. I was right! Located next to "The Rail" station at Don Quijote, First Hawaiian Bank in Waipahu had many open, free parking spaces! They're on the same street at McDonald's and the US Post Office. Outside, I noticed the convenient Automatic Teller Machine. Inside, there was no line at 10am! I appreciated the air conditioning, spacious interior, and bright environment! The teller was very nice. I been with bank for a very long time. They always have great service and are super professional. They helped me out with a fraudulent situation with my driver job at Amazon. I been monitoring my finances to improve my credit. Somehow the other day I got an overdraft fee. Now, I gotta go down to the bank and they're gonna have to do another investigation. The thing about business is if it's in writing you have to honor your word. They always honor their word at this bank. read more

Overall 1-1/2 stars, for good reasons. Bad customer service from the tellers, 75% of them are just rude. Calling wait time is always 30 minutes plus. No 24 hours customer service. On the weekends, contacting customer service is closed. Their website and mobile app is lackluster. They don't value that you bank with them. When late on payments, they hound you and they are very unprofessional. First Hawaiian Bank needs give new and improved form, structure, focusing more on better customer service. We came in on a Monday. It was very busy, but there were about 5 tellers, so the line moved quickly. We don't live in the area anymore, but made our way to this branch to see a specific Wealth Advisor, Mark Suiso. He was in the middle of another appointment and we needed to wait a little. Thankfully there is a seating area with ample amount of seats, as there were a few other clients waiting for different appointments. He was very knowledgable in setting my Roth IRA account and updating my husband's accounts. He shared a lot of different information to help us with ensuring that we made the right investment for our future. I'm not a regular banker with FHB, but I'm happy to work with Mark on my wealth management. read more

Horrible customer service! I've been at other locations and this unfortunately is the worse! We came in to pay off the home equity line and it was less than stellar service to say the least! They mask their shitty customer service with "would like a cookie/water while waiting in line?" I'm aware the first Friday of the month gets busy, but to have only 3 tellers while the line is out the door, down the stairs, and into the parking lot is insane. Today was the longest I've waited (1hour), and no I couldn't use the ATM because my transaction had to be done with a teller. Waited that long time only to be told that they updated their system and I needed to have my name added. Finally got that done with a rep then asked if I have to wait in line again. The miscommunication almost got me waiting in line for a second time. This FHB location is pretty conveniently located in lower Waipahu right alongside Farrington Highway. Whenever I come here, sometimes I come on a random weekday or Saturday. However, I would not recommend coming over during the Saturday as it is pretty busy, especially during the morning time when the branch opens. The staff and customer service is Ok. Nonetheless, I like how this location is open on a Saturday. There is a decent amount of parking near the branch. It is also near convenient shops like Don Quijote and McDonald's. I also came here during the COVID19 pandemic and seems like they have signage of all of the typical recommended protocols in place. Depending on how many workers there are, the line for service might or might not be a long wait. read more

I like that this bank is open on Saturdays. Granted, they're only open for half a day or so, but that's still something. It is so annoying how some of their other branches are not open on Saturdays. Not the biggest location but the staff members are nice and the facility is clean. The parking lot is kinda small but I've never had trouble finding parking. Czarina Javier was very helpful during a most recent visit. She went above and beyond and provided the best service by ensuring that I was well taken care of. During the visit she greeted me with a warm welcome and took care of me though she could've referred me to the back of the line which was a minimal 30 to an hour wait before being seen by the teller. She has shown how the bank values customers time. This was crucial because the bill was due, my login to the bank app wasn't working, and most importantly my wife just recently lost a close family member and we were rushing to go see the family member. Without her help that day life would've been more stressful than it already has been. So in closing to the bank please find more like Czarina that fully understands aloha and impeccable selfless service that she provides. read more

Dont go on a Friday if you are planning to get in and out! Not only is it busy, but the parking in front is terrible. Sometimes, you might have to park on the side, which is the Don Quixote parking. Mind you she was just training. so I explained my situation and she went in the back, came back and everything was good to go. Don't IGNORE your customer(s) Mind you, the teller that I eventually went to was cordial and did her job. I'm not a regular at this Branch (I've been to Kahala, Pearl City, Pearlridge, Kalihi-Dillingham, Kalihi-outside of Chinatown, downtown, Kapolei, Mililani, Mapunapuna, u get the point) Should I not expect the same friendliness? At this Waipahu Branch, I notice an attitude thing going on with a probably "higher up" Asian guy... he saw me stand in a Business line... no teller there... instead of saying, "Sorry, someone will be here to help you...". He turned away and walked the other way. I work in a hospital. If a patient is not under my care, even if I'm busy, I try to assure them I will find help or give some assistance... at the minimum apologize that I have to respond to an emergency... what is 5 seconds of this guy's time that is not emergent? Hey, Asian dude in your 50s, wearing a light blue/white with some "pink" Hawaiian shirt. Been going to this branch for years and I don't really care for their indifferent customer service (as oppose to Bank of Hawaii's overbearing customer service) but today takes the cake as probably the worst customer service I've had at a bank. There was oddly no lines in front of me on this Monday afternoon. But 3 tellers were not ready to serve us despite their windows being open as a line start to form behind me. Finally one of them were ready. (After their supervisor told them to. Seriously, how pathetic.) No smile, no eye contact, no hello. Whatever, I didn't mind. All I had was a simple loan payment, so it wasn't hard. But as this lady, "Erika," was doing my transaction, she kept talking to her coworker about another customer. (Rude, much?) And then she handed my receipt, while STILL talking to her customer. Still no eye contact, not even a "k bye thanks." Am I overreacting? Sorry, the most I expected was undivided attention for those 30 seconds I'm there but that might be too much to ask for. read more

By far the worst banking experience I have ever had. First of all I waited in line for 45 minutes. Then I was told that they cannot cash my check because they do the have enough cash? So the teller suggests that I get an official bank check to avoid having to wait to have it cashed at my bank. I pay a 15$ fee to get the the check and then take it to my bank only to find out that the check was posted dated for Monday. So I go back to First Hawaiian Bank an tell them I need the money today but they say that the transaction was already processed so I gotta wait till Monday. Worst customer service ever! I went to the bank to simply cash a check I walked out with no money and a check I couldn't cash. read more

Have to show appreciation to the staff here at First Hawaiian. Lucky to have gone in the morning on my day off so no line whatsoever. Haven't opened a bank account in years. Bills paid in cash or through my wife's accounts. Decided to open a checking today. Brought promptly to an associate who walked me thoroughly through the benefits and promotions of banking here. Answered each and every one of my questions, as well as assisted me setting up my online account, discounts, and much more. Made me feel welcome and valued, just for something as simple as opening an account. Big Mahalos to Susan Ganibe (I apologize if I spelled your name wrong lol) for being so helpful and competent in her line of work. Great personality. It's Monday. I'm a biz customer that puts a decent amount of revenue through their business. So, the Biz Teller is apparently the only Biz Teller on shift for first thing Monday Morning. So I'm patiently sitting in the waiting chair, as I listen to the teller telling her customer she was assisting, how tired she was blah blah blah, then a little more blah! This is business not social hour? So I peek my head above the wall and see 3 tellers also enjoying social hour. I go to one of the open tellers and he assisted me professionally. Not once did anyone show any concern for my time and my money while waiting. I do not like wasting my time..... period. This is a soooo common occurrence with this biz, that it's the norm. read more

Been with this bank for over 45 years, what a waste of my time, money and energy that was. 0 stars is my rating. When they try to set a customer up for failure that is the bottom of the barrel. I had a first line with fhb as well as my checking account. I refinanced with American Savings Bank for my mortgage, ( they were amazing and very helpful, saving me $170,000 paying $138 more a month, Hats off to you Leland.) I qualified hands down with ASB. In order to complete my loan they had to clear with FHB. FHB made me convert my loan to a higher rate from 4% to 5.50% saying I no longer qualified for my first line and are charging $140.00 more a month. They said I don't make enough money a month to keep my first line payment at $250.00. ??????? However I qualify to pay more?....go figure! They tied up my loan for 3 weeks costing me $700.00 to secure my lock with ASB. I had no choice .... pay them more or not get my loan with ASB. I signed the paperwork with hands bound and mouth gagged. At the signing I made sure 3 times to have the payments automatically withdrawn making sure we were working on auto pay paperwork 1x). Asked if payments could be made on the 10th of the month, answer....no...as she was preparing the paperwork for automatic payment 2x) after signing the paperwork for auto pay confirmed again..payments will be taken out on the first of the month. Answer yes...3x.) This week I received a late payment in the mail with a $24.15 late payment fee. ( no contact number on late fee notice) I am pissed. I called 3 different numbers no one knew or could find the paperwork for auto pay. I contacted Sheryl who closed my loan and was reminded 3 times by me about making SURE I had auto pay in order. She claimed to not remember or find any paperwork?.... Believe me no one would forget me, I was pissed throughout this entire process and am presently looking at other lenders to pay off fhb. I will remove my business from their cut throat organization and add to my accounts with American Saving Bank. I know of many friends and family members who have already closed their accounts with fhb, I'm next. -0 rating to you fhb!!!! read more
