Michael & Anthony did a fantastic job replacing our back yard fence. The existing fence was a patchwork rusted mess. We have an existing cement block knee wall covered in stucco. The fence sits on top of this wall. The old posts were wobbly and the knee wall needed to have cement added two it to give the new posts a solid base. Michael took care of that, installed the new posts and welded the new panels in place. He then primed and painted everything. The new fence is rock solid and looks much better than the old one. I needed my gate lifted and the boards replaced, so I called Michael and sent pictures of my situation to him. Within minutes he provided several quotes with our options, all which were reasonably priced compared to my expectations of the work involved to do it right. I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome what little effort from my end. The job took about 4 hours, he raised my gate, patched the old holes on the wall, cut and welded a new piece of metal that was rusted out, refinished the metal, replaced the wood and old screws with bolts. As my wife and I were nearing the end of our balcony remodel, there was just one thing left to complete it: a new railing. We were frustrated with the experience trying to find someone to do the work, as we were met with places that were inflexible on when they could work with us (my wife and I are both teachers and routinely encountered places that simply refused to send anyone out after 3 o'clock) or they didn't even offer to send anyone out and just wanted to give quotes over the phone without taking measurements or even asking us what we were looking for. The difference between everyone else and Michael at First Iron Repair was night and day. Not only did he work with us on our schedules but was insistent on coming out and taking measurements and surveying the balcony to find what would work best based on our balcony's construction and the tile we had. Because he put an emphasis on both, he discovered quickly that the saltillo tile we had meant that it would be better to mount the railing to the side of the balcony, instead of trying to drill into the tile to mount it. He also asked us what we wanted the railing to look like, instead of pushing a basic design on us because it would be easier or more at least more convenient for him. When it came time to do the work, he laid out for me the exact time frame for the work from start to finish, and he was true to his word. Michael and his team had the frame for it up after the first day, the rails on it with the design we wanted done after the second day, and it completely painted after the third day. Before leaving on the last day, we went over the basic upkeep we would need to do to ensure that it lasted for years to come and even left me with a can of the specific paint we would need for occasional touch-ups. What really made Michael stand out to me, after all the hard work he and his team had done, was right before he left that day, he noticed a tiny spot on the underside of the frame that they had missed paining; a spot so small I would not have even noticed it had he not pointed it out to me. He went and retrieved his ladder, even though they had put everything up, climbed up, and painted the spot. Again, had he not pointed it out to me before doing so, I never would have noticed, but Michael noticed and because he clearly takes pride in the quality of his work, he was not leaving until he had painted it.
