We recently purchased a gorgeous new front door from First Impressions Ironworks after admiring a similar door at a neighbor's home, and we couldn't be happier with our decision. From start to finish, the entire process was easy and enjoyable. I'm so glad we visited the Gilbert showroom to finalize our choice. Every door on display was absolutely beautiful, but the one we selected--the Santa Fe Iron Entry Door with Nail Heads, finished in Antique Bronze, with a twisted bauble-style handle--was the perfect complement to our pueblo-style townhome. One of our favorite features is the amount of natural light it brings into our living room. The space feels brighter and more inviting, and we especially love being able to open the glass portion of the door to let in fresh air while still maintaining security. The craftsmanship is exceptional. This door is incredibly solid and substantial--it honestly feels more like a vault door than a typical front entry door. I'm incredibly disappointed with my experience. My gate was left in an abhorrent state. First Impression ripped out my pavers to install the post with no plan to reinstall the pavers. The excuse given was "we don't do masonry" - then hire someone to do it. To make it worse, they originally agreed to send someone out to fix the pavers, only to retract on it. That alone should tell you that they know it's not an acceptable state to leave the project. How could you ever think this is an acceptable state to leave someone's gate? read more

The courtyard gate we had installed is beautiful and looks so great on the house. Beautiful workmanship! Only hiccup was that the first time they came out to install the gate it didn't fit. The measurements taken by the sales person were incorrect and we had to wait another couple of weeks for the gate to be reworked. We lived with a couple of large holes in our courtyard during this time (they were covered by large bags of dirt). But all worked out in the end. Very pleased with the outcome! read more

I can't tell you how disappointed we are with the quality of the workmanship involved with the doors we purchased. Not in our wildest dreams would we expect to have powder coating not last or show flaws on such expensive doors. To have as many cracks in the finish, to me, is obvious a workmanship issue. Out of the 3 doors we have, and looking more closely, cracks (which lead to chipped paint) shows up on both sides of the double door, which is crazy. Our 3rd door shows no sign of failure. To add injury to this situation, the company quotes us $6370 to repair, where the original cost $8280. Why didn't you just say, we'll sell you a new door and screw what we already paid!!! I will never recommend this company to anyone I know as, obviously, there is an issue on potential failure of the product. read more

I needed a new gate and a salesman come out. First, he didn't contact me beforehand as I was told and just showed up. The excuse was he didn't have my cell, okay. The next thing I know he is trying to sell/show me the product between houses where he is showing me some dinky I-Pad in the sun. I had to say, Hey, let's sit down. He goes over a few things and his knowledge on the products is minimal. Not only that, but he tells me what I wanted (would have added some $$ to my product) isn't used often. It's a lock... really? Away he goes, checks that he has my email and tells me he will send me a quote. That was a week ago. I have since picked a more reputable company. I feel bad for these guys since it's like a selling door to door, but he could have made a sale if he was knowledgeable. Shame on you First Impressions for sending this guy out. Home shows and massive ads in our neighbor mag can't make up for this behavior and waste of my time. EDIT: Rebecca, my comment was to let you all know without blasting this sales person's name. A phone call would have went no where. I checked every spam folder, etc. and there was nothing. There was not a stitch of communication after he left. He was very thorough and explained everything about each door we inquired about. I had issues with my HOA and Derek was very prompt in getting the information I needed to relay to the HOA. Once I received the okay, Derek came to the house and measured the door. I received several calls and emails from Michele to make sure the installation was going to go smoothly. On the day of the install I received a call from Alan letting me know the time frame the door would be installed. Alan and his brother completed the install and it looks amazing. First Impression Ironworks We chose to go with First Impression for our security doors based on our previous experience, which was great. This is the third house we've owned with their doors. While the prices today were considerably higher than what we had paid in the past, we decided to go with them based on our past positive experiences. Our new doors are beautiful. They are more solid than in the past and were manufactured and installed much faster than we expected. We ordered the front security doors with a digital lock and were told by the salesman, Shauwn, that the lock would work with Alexa. When we ask the installer how to set it up, he said, "just Google it. It's very easy." Famous last words. We spent hours trying to connect the lock and change the default code. Eventually, we learned the model that was installed required a separate hub in order to work with Alexa. The hub hardware costs an additional $150. We called First Impression and asked if they could help us. They said we had to call the lock manufacturer. We asked if there was an alternative lock available that was Wi-Fi-enabled. We were told that there was not. The options we were given were to remove the digital lock and have them put on a deadbolt or to install a digital lock that was not Wi-Fi enabled. It was hard to believe that after spending as much money as we did on our six doors, they did not have a WiFi-lock alternative. Because First Impression could not meet our needs, we had them remove the digital lock, and asked if they would install a lock of our own choosing. They refused our request and left our door without a lock to secure our home until we could get our own lock installed. What good is a security door without a lock? What started as a very easy process became a big mess, with the company not stepping up to resolve the issue. With our purchase of six doors, you would think they would offer a better solution than a useless lock that Home Depot sells for $99. We were disappointed in the follow through and customer service we experienced while trying to get this resolved. Multiple phone calls and text messages didn't lead to a satisfactory resolution. Our advice: if you decide to buy from First Impression make sure you know what you are getting and don't believe everything the salesperson or installer tell you. Otherwise, you'll have a mess on your hands and the company will leave you high and dry. read more

All was good with our door but it was close to $7,000 and never was completed with a stoop cover. First Impressions quotes me extra for something that should have been part of the deal after the fact. The extra stoop cover was not mentioned in the bid and seemed odd because this is what they do as a business. Had to get it completed elsewhere. This is my second security door from First Impressions. The first door is still beautiful and functioning just as well as the second door and is over 25 years old. They are worth the price, I purchased a new door for my retirement home and know the door will last and be beautiful for years. The extra's like the wreath holder allow me the pleasure of enjoying all the different seasons and holidays. The new turn lock feature that is key less on the inside is a big improvement over the double key door. Like the stainless-steel screen much better than my previous choice. Initially we were very satisfied. The build quality, installation, and process all seemed good. However after less than 2-years, the door latch wouldn't work. They sent a crew out to fix it, putting a new latch bolt in because the "older" ones were faulty. All good - except they charged a $100+ service fee. I must say that after contacting FII management, they immediately reached out and correct the charge. There were friendly, helpful, and apologetic. We got a totally custom security door - a square frame with an arched top, which nobody else could do! We even picked the arch's curve ourselves. It's super well-made and high quality; you really do get what you pay for. They installed it in under two hours, the guy was great, and I'd totally recommend them. Remember, quality costs money. One time the sales person called and made an appointment, he never showed up and never called . Good Build quality, Good Install, I only had to ask to have a few things buttoned up when he was done. So not bad. The service is where they fall flat on their face. When I purchased the door, I was told I would be called a day or two in advance and given an install window. This is a very important point to me and I will not do business without an install timeframe. FACT. I was called a day in advance and told to be home between 8 and 9 AM, the day of the install, and someone will call me with an install time frame. FACT!! They refused to give an install timeframe the day before the install.. FACT!!!! YES, HELD HOSTAGE... I could not make plans for Saturday because I had zero idea when they would arrive. A waste of a Saturday...... My 2 biggest pet peeves when hiring a company, don't lie to me and don't waste my time. Then they didn't bring the chain stop that is supposed to be inclusive. I have called several times, still no chain stop, ignored... I wish I had gone with the other company now. I do not recommend. After that nasty phone call, quite the opposite. Just had door installed. Beautiful door looks better then what I seen on I pad and papers we ordered from. Customer service was great showed up when they said called made appt 2 days before called day of and came when they said. Very solid door enhances look of our house. Son had one there doors installed 4 to 5 years ago and still looks good. Was a good decision for us to hire them they waited for our ok from the hoa guys did install where very professional and office called staff called next day go thru questions and email us warranty and instructions on up keep great company not a cheap door by no means and don't look cheap it's built to last best security door we ever had. Purchased a double door approximately 3 years ago. Had the screen powder coated. Screen has rusted and looks terrible now. First Impressions asked me for pics of the door. Sent them to them and they told me the pics showed water damage, and was not covered by warranty. Their customer service supervisor refused to send someone out to access the door. (travel time from their Gilbert office is less than 15 minutes) CS told me I causes the water damage. Door is under a deck, not near any water source. The only water this door ever sees is rain water and this is Phoenix. Terrible CS. I would never recomend First Impressions to anyone. For the cost of the door you would think they could drive 15 minutes to see what was wrong with their product. read more
