Beer is great, service was good, but it is pretty bare in there. Four white walls and nothing to look at while you sip a beer.

The brand from OKC works really well in east Wichita! Whether you're stopping in for dinner or…read moremaybe just for a drink, Bricktown Brewery has plenty to choose from and delivers a great experience. There are easily 30 beers on tap/chilling in the fridge, ranging from local to national brands, with a great supporting wine and cocktail menu. The beer is cold and hits just right, plus it sets you up to order off that strong menu. From handheld to pizza, Bricktown has lots to choose from. I opted for the Rodeo Burger, a big burger topped with an onion ring, sliced jalapeños, bacon & BBQ sauce. Wowza! Fabulous burg, can't recommend enough. I washed it back with a Left Hand Nitro milk stout, which is maybe a touch heavy, but it's fall and it worked right. Alex, our server, was super quick and attentive; food came fresh and ready, clearly not off a warmer, and the turnaround time was superb! The place has some high ceilings, and with plenty of screens to pay attention to, it might get loud during a sportsball session. But there's plenty of seating, both in the dining area and at the bar, and the decor fits not only the theme but the space. Easy to park, seating is quick, they're open until at least 9:00 daily, and the seasonal specials are definitely worth a look when you stop in.

Eric R. and I talked about a day trip on a Sunday, but alas, Three Rings is not open on Sundays. Eric R. had the Storm the Castle bike race this past Saturday, so I agreed to join him in McPherson for the weekend so I could specifically go here! I first discovered Three Rings at Manhattan's Brew at the Zoo, which I went to every year until COVID. After that, it moved from August to later in the Fall and I am never here for it. I am not sure exactly when I first tried it, but my notes from the 2019 event show that Three Rings' Wanderlust was a favorite. I purchased cans of Wanderlust ever since, but there was a shortage in the past year and after going to six liquor stores, I had to get it in Lawrence an hour and a half away! I cannot remember when this was, but the owner and his dad came to lead an event at JP's in the K-State Union for beer and food pairings. It was so fun. Finally I get here and Eric R.'s race registration came with a free beer. The very awesome staff said we could do a flight of 5, but we wanted to try 6, and she was still cool with that! So we tried six beers: Fields of Gold (wheat), Yankee Rose (blonde), Wanderlust (red), Vertigo (IPA), Bulldog (oatmeal stout), and Acres Wild (farmhouse ale/saison). We loved talking with everyone at the bar, both next to us and behind the bar. We chatted with the owner/brewer, and another staff member who also has a creative writing background. Numerous people there were Texans like us, and we had a lot of area connections. A food truck outside was closing and brought us free fries, which was an unexpected bonus! We bought 3 6-packs: Wanderlust, Acres Wild, and Broadsword (dark Scotch ale). On the way out was an afternoon farmers market where we bought freshly picked green beans to make for dinner that night. It was a perfect place to hang out and I definitely want to return! Also, we learned there is no "fear" in McPherson and to just call it MacTown!

A great choice, this was a pleasant 2 or so hours, sipping a beer, nibbling on a really fresh Caesar salad (hold the croutons) and writing entirely too many Yelp reviews as I continue my exploration of Kansas. This is a neat spot with a selection of beers including some locals, a nice list of bar type grub (nachos, burgers and the like) and comfy seating. I enjoyed my time, I enjoyed my beers, I had a friendly server. This was really nice. [Review 748 of 2026 - 95 in Kansas - 25929 overall]

We asked to get fries and Tots. There was five of each that weren't even warm in a little basket that looked like it was off the kid menu. I had a $5 Long Island, should have known you get what you pay for, not much. Left hungrier than when I went in. For a burger two drinks for Forty dollars I feel a little bit ripped off. Wasted time and money. They were over staffed and still had terrible service, never the same service, no one knew what they were doing or about the menu, with the expectation of the bartender, bless her heart. I would say it is a great place if you are still in high school and need a first job you'll fit right in.
