Jeremy makes great $8 fashioneds and has a lot of knowledge about the area. Frankly, we preferred coming here for drinks versus the two speakeasies, which we found disappointing. We also ordered some bites, which were delicious bar food. A word of advice, when you walk in here recognize that Jeremy is a long time Lowville resident so respect his bar, respect his craft and act appropriately. I only say that based on what I witnessed with a small group of young men.

There was a sink in my stall, and beautiful shadowbox artwork above the toilet. The hosts were very helpful navigating the place. They gave us an option to drink at the main floor bar, which seemed classy and had a stage for live music, or to go downstairs, which they said had more of a sport bar vibe. We chose the main floor bar because there were less people and we were helped right away. We got a couple drinks each and all were pretty good- no watered down drinks here! My favorite was the espresso martini. We also opted for the Doritos nachos which were pretty filling for an appetizer! The menu states it's for 3-4 people, but it was a good serving for just the two of us. It had Doritos, cheese, pickled onions, lime, jalapeños, and a mixture of beans and it was delicious. We overall spent about $70.

It's creative with a sense of joy, irreverent, one of a kind. And I'm happy to see it last in its spot next to Slugger Field. I got to visit recently when a bunch of friends were in town. We ended up visiting during trivia night, which added a fun twist to the experience. Our team, The Electric Sheep, got second place! And along with the fun vibes, we had great food and beer. I got The Smokehouse OG, which is its pulled pork sandwich served on a Cuban roll. If you like pulled pork, you'll like this sandwich, though typical to their fashion, AtG puts a twist on it with its Brown Note BBQ Sauce. We had to get the pork belly on a stick -- a menu fave. And for my beer, I tried the El Nopal Mexican lager (cracked up at the name) and Cold Ass Beer red ale. AtG is a Louisville original that's not to be overlooked.

I got the burger in special, the Dirty Burger. Pretty standard burger dressed with their "not so secret" sauce and fancy pickle. Super solid, very well executed. In the words of Samuel L. Jackson, this is a tasty burger! The location is pretty tough to beat with how convenient it is, and how close it is to all downtown has to offer. The atmosphere is industrial but relaxed. The staff was so wonderful and personable. Will definitely be back!

We dropped in on Oaks night and even though it was pretty busy we were able to grab two seats at the bar. The only downfall of this was the time of day and the position of the Sun blaring through the garage door windows blasting me in the face however that cannot be helped or avoided, just a heads up for anyone who is super sensitive to the sun and arrives around sunset. I started with a Sunset Spritz and looked over the menu, there are so many great options to choose from and I was really torn on what to get but decided on the blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich (you can also get grilled or fried, but the bartender recommended blackened) and an order of sweet potato fries. The fries come with a side of a smoky pineapple chutney of some sort and even though I'm not a huge fan of anything that's really smoky it was absolutely delicious and a great combo. Seriously 10/10 recommend. The sandwich was also fire! I am extremely picky about sea food, especially since I used to live near the cost so it was always fresh and it definitely did not disappoint. I was so full when we left lol My husband got the beef sliders as his entrée with a side of regular fries tossed in roasted garlic pepper. I tried them and they were just OK. The sweet potato fries are definitely where it's at! I am really looking forward to going back and trying out some new items like the Cheeseburger Hand pies, Chicken tenders or one of their boozy milkshakes ... it sounds delicious doesn't it!

This is going to be great". Unfortunately, that's where the great stopped. The menu is good. They offer a bunch of different burger options, Several chicken options and bar food apps. However, our service was very poor and slow. My party of 5 started with a chili con queso. It was basic but good. The serving was small for the price. We ordered a variety of meals. 2 chicken strips and fries, one grilled chicken strips and fries. A second order of grilled chicken with loaded sweet potatoes fries. And Lastly, a ground beef loaded nacho. The chicken was extremely dry and the nachos were so greasy. I know, we went to a burger place and nobody ordered a burger... maybe a bad move on our part. Also, every small sauce was $1 and you receive about an ounce. I was a bit surprised when I got the bill and none of the chicken came with any sauce. In all, It's cute enough and in a great location. I will go back to try a burger.... But based on our experience yesterday, I'd pass on the chicken.

Decided we'd do a dinner of beer cheese, salad and wings. Enjoyed the beer cheese and pretzels, though it's not something that I'd order regularly. Side salads fine, nothing memorable, but at least they were fresh and crispy. Liked the wings, I got hot, the wife got sweet thai chili. When ordering, she said she'd give me one or two of hers, but she liked them so much that she finished off the plate, so that's a rave review! My hot wings were reasonably spicy and meaty as well. Appreciated the wipes! It's not going to win a Michelin star, but if we were in the area, we'd visit the troll again.

The decor is quite unique, full of character, and the history adds to the experience. It feels like you're eating in a place that actually has stories to tell rather than another cookie-cutter restaurant. The food was good overall. The wings were excellent and definitely the highlight of the meal. I tried the lime sauce, which was good, though it tasted much more like a ranch-based sauce than I expected. My burger was cooked well, flavorful, and delicious... though I was disappointed to not see the caramelizes onions promised on the menu on it. Instead there was a sad looking single piece of raw onion. Oh well. The sandwich on rye was just okay--not bad, but it didn't stand out. Fries were good and perfectly seasoned. Service was friendly and attentive, although things moved a little slower than expected during our visit. Now for the bathroom area... let's just say the journey to get there felt like the opening scene of a horror movie where someone says, "I'll be right back." It definitely adds to the pub's quirky charm, but I do wish that area--and the restaurant in general--were a bit cleaner. Overall, Troll Pub is worth a visit for the atmosphere, history, and great wings. Come for the unique experience, stay for the burger, and maybe bring a flashlight for the bathroom adventure.
