My friends and I were finally given some freedom to go out and eat some grub, pass time, and enjoy life here in Alabama. Hungry, after weeks of eating absolute garbage food, we decided to give First Watch a try. With 8 of us I thought the wait would be long, but we were seated right away. The waiter was nice and accommodating and brought over waters and coffees to the entire table after we ordered. Great place to come talk and have a solid breakfast with friends on a Saturday morning. Had to wait just a little long for our food, but overall the wait wasn't too bad. One friend was a little disappointed that his meal came out quite a later than everyone else's, but the waiter marked it down half price to make up for the mishap. My close friend Kenneth, who sat beside me, had a comment about his eggs being a little cold and mine were as well. Overall the portion size was very good and the food was tasteful. Although price was higher than anticipated, this place is a solid high 3, low 4 star joint. I recommend stopping in and giving it a shot. read more

The service at this restaurant is largely non-existent. The party I was with was seated and we immediately ordered our food. An hour later, we asked about the status of our food, and were told that the kitchen had not even started preparing our orders. Shortly after, we left without receiving our orders. This used to be Egg and I. The selections are diverse and in general the food was tasty. The service was excessively slow and the food lukewarm. The greens were also past prime. I rated them highly for healthy selections, lighter food, and potential. Hopefully the service will improve. And they should be more attentive to how the food is served. read more

The food was excellent! The service was subpar. Our server forgot our drinks until we were almost finished with our food, every time she came to the table she had forgotten something else, and at one point told me and my husband we hadn't ordered a drink? She dropped an entire tray of drinks at the table next to us. I wanted to think it was an honest mistake the first couple times of her putting things at the wrong table, or forgetting things all together but I don't think that was the case. I noticed she had tables all the way outside and into the back room, maybe more cohesive sections would help with the service. I'll be back but maybe I'll be ordering my food to go. read more

I ordered the Florentine Eggs Benedict, coffee and water. I got the coffee right away, no water. I waited 35 mins. for the food and had to ask again for the water. The potatoes were old and cold, the ketchup bottle was empty. When I cut into the eggs they were way over cooked, the toast was so hard I almost could not cut it and everything was cold. I took one bite and pushed the plate away. When the server came back I told her I just wanted to pay for my coffee and leave. She said she was sorry but she had brought the food out as soon as it came up. I have been here 4 times and walked out without eating 2 times. Not good odds. I will not be back a 5th time. read more

Everything was amazing. We ordered lemon ricotta pancakes (fantastic), blueberry quinoa pancakes (mmmmmm) m, the chickichongo (yum!), smoked salmon frittata (wow!) and this egg sandwich (with brioche buns, bacon, avacado, fresh spring greens). The atmosphere was exciting, everything was super clean (seriously look at the light bulbs...those are even spotless) and the food...all the food ordered was great! Some places are only good for one or two things, this place...order anything and you'll enjoy it! I am totally coming back while I'm here for SOS. read more

We were driving through on our way to NC & found this spot in the location that the Egg & I used to be in. We decided we'd give it a try since it was "hot & new". Their menu resembles almost identical to Egg & I - Kale Tonic, avocado toast etc- and offers a broad selection for breakfast. The waitress was very nice but I think she may have either been new or overwhelmed because we had to ask for our grand daughters eggs 2xs and they were supposed to come w her waffle. We also had to ask several times for syrup. By the time everything got sorted the eggs were cold. I'm sure they came out hot it's just that they royally screwed up our order that by the time we could eat they were cold. As far as coffee - it was good. We stopped in on a whim, were seated immediately and our server made recommendations, one of which my husband chose - the 'Traditional' breakfast. I opted the for the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and was very pleased. The lemon curd/sauce was not sweet (yay!) but slightly tart, as it should be. The size of the pancakes - huge! I split the order with my husband. His order included cheese grits which he said were quite good and the bacon was fantastic. It was cooked to a crispy goodness and had wonderful flavor (I snuck a bite to be sure it was as good as it looked). The menu has many options, a blend of unique and traditional breakfast staples. There's usually a wait on the weekends, but it's the best in town, so you understand why. Just had lunch here. Service was very poor. Waited 35 minutes for half a sandwich and a cup of soup. Was told they were out of the soup so I decided to leave. On my way out the waitress shouts across the restaurant that they did have soup after all. Food is great. read more

I was skeptical when I was told that First Watch was going to be better than The Egg&I...but they have proven it again and again. Today is the first day of the newest seasonal specials and I am writing this as I devour their new "A.M. Super foods Bowl". I could eat this Every day! (Coconut milk chia seed pudding topped with fresh bananas, strawberries, blueberries, blackberry preserves and their homemade granola. It is served with whole grain artisan toast topped with almond butter and Maldon sea salt.) A MUST TRY! I am looking forward to coming tomorrow and trying the new pot roast hash and cinnamon chocolate chip pancakes too! read more

Today, I met my son and his family who were traveling through Montgomery to Pensacola, and they chose First Watch. The server was awesome and the food, as always, was creative and good. However, to my horror, another server who delivered the food to the table wore no gloves and had extremely long fingernails. The nails were so long they curled. I plan to call the manager to ask about health ratings and sanitary procedures at the restaurant as there is no way, that is a sanitary practice. How the facility passes a public health inspection is beyond belief. So disappointed and concerned. I would have given 4-5 stars without the unsanitary delivery of food. read more
