Seasonal Burritto

Typical First Watch, in a good way! We occasionally visit our First Watch in the triangle area but were visiting friends and wanted something quick and familiar. This first watch met our expectations, it's the same menu, same quality food, and service was nice. Not much to add, it's a good breakfast/brunch place!

Giving a one star purely for the hostess with a tattoo on her arm was rude AF. The people before us she told 10-15 min wait. Then tells me and my family it's a 30 minute wait. I got a text 5 minutes later telling me to head to the hostess station which we did. She looks at us and then I get a text saying our table will be held for only 2 minutes and she processed to sit a couple who was behind us when we originally checked in. The hostess clearly has an issue with African Americans.

It's clean and spacious and pretty friendly with decent value, but a few problems. 1. That is not two eggs. That's 1.5 eggs tops. 2. I didn't know it would be funky toast. My own fault here though and should have asked if they had non-funky toast. 3. There was a nine-inch hair that I pulled out from the toast in front of the waitress. 4. They weren't going to do anything about the nine-inch hair until I mentioned it. 5. They gave me 20% off for the nine-inch hair. I didn't say anything but since it wasn't comped, they lost a customer and now everyone reading this knows about my nine-inch hair experience (wouldn't have mentioned it if comped meal). On the positive side, good donuts, fruit, and OJ. Clean place (on the surface) but can't recommend due to my experience.

Crab avocado toast with pickled red onions, eggs over easy

We were there on a weekday, around 10am and were seated right away. Dining room wasn't too crowded. Service was outstanding. Noise level was moderate. We could still talk without shouting or straining to header. Our server was attentive and friendly but not obtrusive. She checked on us but didn't interrupt our conversation unnecessarily. Husband ordered eggs benedict with mixed greens salad. He loves eggs benedict but rarely orders it out because most restaurants are really stingy with the hollandaise sauce. There never seems to be enough and he always - ALWAYS - has to order extra on the side. Except this time, his eggs benedict had more than enough hollandaise, perfect for him. He was happy. Salad was also great, dressed perfectly, looked and tasted fresh. I ordered the crab avocado toast with over easy eggs. Eggs were perfect - cooked whites, medium runny yolks. Mashed avocado was both chunky and creamy. Lightly seasoned to let the avocado flavor shine. Some places make them too puréed which is a texture I don't like. The toast was thick, warm, lightly toasted. The whole thing was topped with crab flakes - the real stuff - and pickled red onions. First time I've ordered this here and loved it. I've been to the First Watch in Huntersville but this was a much better experience with the delicious food, exemplary service, and pleasant ambiance.

My server forgot about me. Grits were stiff and barely warm. Egg portion was small. Potatoes were salty but the coffee was PERFECT!

I'm constantly updating my review. The food is good. The service is consistent. There are a few kinks they could work out but overall, I'm pleased to make this a favorite breakfast spot. The staff is always friendly.

What a nice staff this location has! Someone opened the door and welcomed us as we approached the building, and our server was super friendly and attentive. I ordered the elevated egg sandwich.. egg, bacon, mixed greens, and smashed avocado - so delicious! We love first watch, so glad they opened nearby.

Disappointed. Eggs Benedict were hard yolks. Eggs over easy were like rubber won't be back. Also over priced.

Went in today and was seated outside. 20 minutes later we left. I guess it's a good thing to be that busy. Will never go back.

The restaurant had a good number of patrons, with about four tables available. I ordered, and my food came out in less than 10 minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed the eggs, the tea, and the pancake. The bacon was thin and overcooked. I ate it, of course, but I will not order it should I return for breakfast. Service was quick and cordial. When I left around 10:40 am, there were a few people waiting for tables.

Once to food came it was ok...but not worthy of the 4/5 stars that others have offered or the ranking as a great brunch place. She had a special with poached eggs, sausage, and one slice of French toast. Sausage seemed like it might have been fresh from a supermarket frozen package. French toast came super late. My omelet and biscuit were good enough (but not hot enough...did they sit around waiting to be expedited...short servers?). As for the grits. They ran out. How does a breakfast place in NC run out? They finally came after I had finished the omelet. Sigh. THEN the single slice of lukewarm French toast came. After the grits. After she was long finished with her eggs. It WAS delicious though. Perhaps an off day? Happens. Again, servers were delightfully polite. But food was only average, and the kitchen...well...read above...

From a former fan of the Happy Egg until they implemented a so-called credit card fee (something…read morethey had not done last year) after introducing their new menus early in 2026. In speaking with others in the restaurant business, they say included in the menu price is not only their food costs, but also all their overhead costs - including credit card processing fees - so begs the questions, why do some places add a fee for using a credit card? So I did a bit of research, and here is what I found: NC is moving toward tighter regulations A 2025 bill (House Bill 13) proposes: * A 2% cap on surcharges * Mandatory disclosure at the entrance and point of sale * A ban on surcharges if the business only accepts credit cards It hasn't fully passed yet, but it has momentum. If it becomes law, it will standardize what restaurants can charge and how they must disclose it. Check whether the fee applies to all cards If the restaurant charges the same fee for: * debit cards NOTE: Happy Egg, my server told me, charges 4% to use a Debit Card * credit cards * even prepaid cards ...that's a red flag. Why: Debit card processing is much cheaper. Charging the same fee across the board suggests the fee isn't tied to actual processing costs -- it's just extra revenue layered on top of already‑priced‑in costs. Look for "cash discount" language If the receipt says: * "Non‑cash adjustment" (Happy Egg charges 4% to use a credit card) * "Cash discount applied" ...but the menu prices are already high, it often means: * the "cash discount" is just the real price, * and the card price is inflated on top of it. This is one of the most common double‑dip setups. How to spot when a 6. Watch for restaurants that only recently added a fee If you've been going to a place for years and suddenly see: * a new 3-4% fee * with no change in menu prices ...it's very likely they simply added the fee without adjusting their pricing structure. The simplest rule of thumb If a restaurant: * never lowered menu prices, * adds a credit‑card fee, * and charges the same fee for all cards, you're almost certainly seeing double dipping. restaurant is double dipping

My husband got the chai cider, the spiced flavor was so amazing it warranted a second pint. We had the Spinach Crab Fondu and the Yuzu Ravioli as appetizers - the cranberry glaze on the ravioli was a delicious touch. I ordered the grilled Chicken Marsala for dinner and really enjoyed the mushroom sauce & potatoes. My husband liked his burger as well. We ended the night with the crème brûlée, which came with fresh strawberries. We were also offered free cookies when we closed out. The manager came by twice to chat, offer recommendations, and ask how everything was - he was very sweet!

We ended up ordering 2 fountain drinks, the spinach crab fondue, the seared scallop appetizer, farmers cobb salad, a caprese avocado panini with onion straws and a side of fries, french onion soup, and the espresso creme brulee. First and foremost, the food came out insanely fast. The seared scallops with creamed corn and pesto was fresh and delightful with a great sear. I do wish they were a bit bigger for the price, but it was a nice starter. The spinach crab fondue was so nice and hot when it came out that it was still bubbling. Strong crab flavor, a good portion size and plenty of fresh chips. The farmers Cobb salad had lots of seasoned fried chicken in it, the greens were fresh and the blue cheese dressing was nice and creamy. It even came with a fresh dinner roll. We advised the server we were going to split the panini and she was nice enough to plate them separately putting the onion straws on one and fries on the other. It wasn't so much a panini as it was just a ciabatta sandwich. The bottom bun was soggy as was the bacon but it was still very cheesy and tasty. The fries were hot and fresh and the onion straws weren't greasy and had a nice crunch. The French onion soup was hot and cheesy and was a nice portion. Could have had a bit more onion, but it hit the spot for the price. The espresso creme brulee was very very delicious. Not too sweet, had a great texture and came with a fresh strawberry, however the top could've been a bit hotter. A great way to end the meal. Overall, the meal was $99, which I think is very reasonable. Food came out quickly, tasted hot and fresh and thats exactly what you'd want on a cold day. Will definitely be back to try other menu options.
