We had a nice dinner with friends at Blu Star Grill! The menu has a good array of options, lots of seafood but other mains as well. For drinks, I had a glass of Pinot. My husband got the chai cider, the spiced flavor was so amazing it warranted a second pint. We had the Spinach Crab Fondu and the Yuzu Ravioli as appetizers - the cranberry glaze on the ravioli was a delicious touch. I ordered the grilled Chicken Marsala for dinner and really enjoyed the mushroom sauce & potatoes. My husband liked his burger as well. We ended the night with the crème brûlée, which came with fresh strawberries. We were also offered free cookies when we closed out. Came to Blu Star on a Monday afternoon and were seated immediately. Leighann was our server and she was kind and attentive. We ended up ordering 2 fountain drinks, the spinach crab fondue, the seared scallop appetizer, farmers cobb salad, a caprese avocado panini with onion straws and a side of fries, french onion soup, and the espresso creme brulee. First and foremost, the food came out insanely fast. The seared scallops with creamed corn and pesto was fresh and delightful with a great sear. I do wish they were a bit bigger for the price, but it was a nice starter. The spinach crab fondue was so nice and hot when it came out that it was still bubbling. Strong crab flavor, a good portion size and plenty of fresh chips. The farmers Cobb salad had lots of seasoned fried chicken in it, the greens were fresh and the blue cheese dressing was nice and creamy. It even came with a fresh dinner roll. We advised the server we were going to split the panini and she was nice enough to plate them separately putting the onion straws on one and fries on the other. It wasn't so much a panini as it was just a ciabatta sandwich. The bottom bun was soggy as was the bacon but it was still very cheesy and tasty. The fries were hot and fresh and the onion straws weren't greasy and had a nice crunch. The French onion soup was hot and cheesy and was a nice portion. Could have had a bit more onion, but it hit the spot for the price. The espresso creme brulee was very very delicious. Not too sweet, had a great texture and came with a fresh strawberry, however the top could've been a bit hotter. A great way to end the meal. Overall, the meal was $99, which I think is very reasonable. Food came out quickly, tasted hot and fresh and thats exactly what you'd want on a cold day. I rate this restaurant a 10 out of 5. Our group of 14 had a special celebration of Christmas in July. Our reservation number changed numerous times--from 12 to 20 to 16 to 14--and they were absolutely accommodating with each change. The food was great and the service was fabulous. We were a somewhat rowdy group--with silly Christmas table and head decorations--and even singing "We wish you a Merry Christmas" to which another table clapped. Everyone except for two couples had separate checks--and they were all perfect. Nelson, the owner, and his whole staff are just wonderful. A group of 5 of us came for dinner one night and it was very good! Large menu of options from sandwiches to main dishes and salads. I enjoyed Brussel sprouts and salmon. The entree also came with a corn muffin. Very flavorful. My friends had some of fish specials - cod and two others had French onion soup and all really enjoyed their meals. We had the scallop appetizer which was really good. I had the steak burrata salad and my friend had the cheesesteak with fries. The fries are incredible! Especially dipped in ranch. So good! My salad was large and the steak was cooked perfectly. I was worried that it might be too chewy since it was flat iron steak but nope they cut it right and it was very tender! If you look at my photos for this joint, you will find the absence of a turkey sandwich (ciabatta bread). I fully expected to include that photo but it was no longer in my roll. Maybe the government removed it. As far as my experience here... I had every intention of eating here but was met with who I would assume to be owner. He was super friendly and accommodating. He definitely assumed I was there for takeout since alone and he told me all about the menu and didn't try to sway me in any direction. This guy genuinely cares about his business and customers--and to a degree I rarely see. The food was super duper fresh! I mean, that is some of the freshest food in the LKN area! We were on our way to visit close friends in South Carolina for the long Labor Day Weekend. We wanted to grab some lunch along the way and decided to search for a place to eat near Mooresville. We saw Blu Star and decided to check it out. After reading reviews we were aware it was a little more expensive but with their overall score of 4.2 stars with over 200 reviews, and knowing the Charlotte area is typically more expensive, we decided to stop in. The menu consists of burgers, salads, steak, seafood, and pasta. Yes, the prices may be a little higher than you might expect but the quality of the food and the experience are also important. We arrived about 12:30pm on a Friday afternoon and parked on the street nearby and walked inside. We were immediately seated in a booth and there were several other tables and booths already seated. We noticed the positive health score on our way to the table, 98.5, and it feels very clean, well kept, and welcoming. We were provided menus and offered drinks. We felt we had to try an order of their chips as an appetizer. We are both fans of hot chips and this is something we never saw living on the West coast. For our meals, my wife decided to get the Strawberry Summer Salad with Grilled Chicken and I chose the Bacon Cheeseburger with Mac & Cheese. The chips arrived quickly and were brought with ranch dressing without asking for it, which was appreciated. In my opinion, the chips appeared too uniform to be fresh, however, my wife thought our server said they were cut each morning. Either way, they hit the spot and disappeared quickly. Our entrees also arrived in a timely fashion as the place began to fill up. Everything looked and tasted delicious and we each enjoyed our meals. After we were finished, we were offered desserts which we declined. My wife saw something on the menu that every meal includes a cookie. A short while later someone came to our table with wrapped cookies and my wife chose a white chocolate Macadamia nut cookie and I chose chocolate chip. We thought they were both very good. Everything was good about this experience but there was nothing that really stood out. It was solid. Combine that with the price which was on the higher side. We may be back but it is not likely we will seek it out. read more

Nelson and his staff are amazing. Tremendous food options. Fresh fish over the weekend, really delicious meals, deserts and outstanding service. (They serve you as a team - great idea). They bring the food out freshly prepared -no more wondering where our waiter might be. The atmosphere is cozy and where you can go and enjoy a great dinner conversation. Served on a creamed corn concoction, which seemed odd, but I tried it and really enjoyed the flavor and texture. Scallops are cut in half lengthwise I think, but at least they are real scallops and have a good flavor. Both times, IMO only, they were just maybe 30 seconds overcooked but still good. Chef veggies were also just a bit overcooked but not mushy and were still quite tasty. Recommend both. Free cookies are delicious. Found this wonderful restaurant. It was amazingly good. We weren't seated very long when the owner of the restaurant came to our table and explained great things about the menu. No meat is ever frozen. All ingredients are always fresh. I ordered the meatloaf. It was made with Angus beef and had amazing flavor laid on a bed of mashed potato's with green beans. We also had the Mahi Mahi laid on a bed of rice with a great tasting sauce. The restaurant had a great feeling and was very calm inside. I definitely would give this a 5 star recommendation. Try it. My friend and I stopped here for a quick bite and we're very pleased with our lunch. We shared a chicken salad sandwich on wheat bread, toasted. The chicken salad was tasty and full of chicken, dried cranberries, celery and sliced almonds. This was filling and more than enough for both of us. We had a side of sweet potato fries that were cooked perfectly and we dipped those in a tangy honey mustard sauce. Who knew that would be a lovely compliment. One of their specialities at Blue Star is the trio burger. OMG - elk, bison and angus meat stacked high with cheeses, cooked to perfection. This burger is filled with flavor and sure to please anyone with an appetite. Blue star grill gives everyone a fresh cookie after your meal as a wonderful treat. If you have to visit family in Lake Norman, NC, this is a decent place to eat. This service is excellent, this place is clean and the people are accommodating. I'll admit that I'm a bit snobby, but I also appreciate when people make an effort. There are plenty of vegetarian and pescatarian option aside from the regular meat options. They also have lots of different Asian and Italian sauces. Infused wanted my fish plain with lemon on the side and that's what I got. In this day and age of NO customer service, OR bad customer service, kudos to this restaurant. After looking at reviews, I ordered a gift card from here for a friend moving in the area. He said he didn't get anything when asked. I called. They sent another. After a month he said he got nothing. When I called Nathan at Blu Star he offered to refund or drive the card the 17 miles to my friend's house. When Nathan called, my friend never answered the phone to say he'd be home to receive it. So Nathan refunded my money plus fees. THEN he returned Nathan's call and realized he had received it. I promptly told Nathan to run my card and he said to just write a nice review. That he was not able to process it without a product. After being soured on customer service the past years, my faith has been restored by this restaurant. AND my friend ate at the restaurant and raved - and raved - about the quality of food and the service. This place is a win-win!! Would highly recommend supporting this place!! read more

When you charge $17 for a cheeseburger you gotta bring it. And they do not. The Bun and the beef have to be a marriage of burger perfection. The bun was oversized and DRY. Possibly a few days old? The burger did not fill the bun and the toppings were a mess. Tots were pale, had no color but tasted ok. Sure I could've eaten a mediocre burger, but I don't want to be overcharged for the privilege. The waitress offered to get me a new bun, but that didn't seem appealing after I already cut it and took a couple bites. I sent it back and appreciated the removal From My check. So there's that. I've been to Blu Star a few times now, and it is always a great spot. The wait staff is super friendly and helpful, even in these trying times. Our food was good, not great, but solid. I got the beef stroganoff, and though the flavor was delicious, I wouldn't get it again because the texture of the meat was off for me. It tasted like it had been sitting in the marinade and got too soft. My son enjoyed his buffalo chicken sandwich. My mom liked her hamburger, but the buns on both sandwiches were cold, as were the fries. My daughter wasn't thrilled with her chicken tenders either. Still four stars because of the service received and the little extra touches...we all got a free cookie for dessert and my dish came with my choice of a homemade muffin.
