My first First Watch was in Cincinnati a couple of years ago with a group of close to a dozen diners. We had to wait a long time to get seated, and to me, the service that time was extremely slow, though everyone was happy with the food (when it finally arrived). On this visit, the two of us were seated immediately. The wait staff was prompt and friendly. I ordered The Works omelet and was absolutely pleased with my order, including the salad of greens to go with it (definitely not a fan of such a side dish for an omelet, until now!). My sister ordered the Belgian waffle and ate all that she could (and I helped her finish the rest; mighty fine in my opinion). The bill a bit high for me to eat here very often. A solo man came in right behind us... and he was served before we were. After he left, another solo man was seated in the same place... and he was served before we left. Our young waitress apparently likes single young men! :) The waitress and I did have a running joke about how much is too little hot sauce. That was good a for a couple of laughs. read more

I LOVE this place for a quick breakfast or lunch. For some reason, I'm addicted to their iced coffee. I pretty much always get their market skillet and their salads. The menu changes around holidays sometimes to accommodate for the occasion, which makes it fun. The wait can be long sometimes, but definitely helps to get online on your phone and reserve your space in line through the "nowait guest" app (mostly for weekends). Their lunch sandwich/lunch combos are great deals and i haven't been upset with any of their dressings. The bread is also really nice and thick... almost like they make it themselves. I love this place! Coffee is really really good. Food is fresh and tasty. My personal favorite is the egg, bacon, SBO sandwich with lemon dressing. So good. My only complaint would be regarding their Benedicts. The hollandaise flavor is off the mark. Not as tart and creamy as I prefer. Also the poached eggs are NEVER runny when I order the eggs benedict. I thought this was an issue just when they first opened, but they have been consistently overcooked every time since. The new carbonara benedict was still delicious contrary to these issues and I would absolutely recommend it. read more

The food is great. The staff on the other hand can be very bipolar. In my previous experience I dealt with several terrible experiences. Wait time is expected to 25-40 mins if not reserved. The wait time interval between the server taking my order on drinks and food was nearly 20 minutes. They also continue to parade through the establishment entertaining conversation with those they expected greater tips from. It was a 1hr 40 mins r before I was really served anything. The server in question made several smug faces and under the breath comments. Whilst quickly leaving the table. Around 4 different staff members had to pick up the slack for our original server. In this entire experience neither of our drinks were refreshed although sitting slight edged near the end of the table. As expressed earlier I was unable to ask for refreshments due to the servers ignorance. I had also planned to have my breakfast packaged to go as I had other things to attend. The server in question brought a to go box before the food and left on the table. A statement inferring; "due it yourself". I leave 20-35$ tips on meals as low as 5$. We stopped in for breakfast, starved after a morning at the hospital. We did NOT expect such an awesome place. The food was as good as any I've had at expensive gourmet places, but the hot chocolate was the best either of us had ever tasted. We got another to go. The staff was also a great team of folks! I have mixed reviews of this place. The first time I went, I had the eggs Benedict and I enjoyed it. Can't remember the second and the next time I had avacado toast and a side of eggs and it was average....nothing to die for. Super expensive for what you get. I don't mind spending money as long as it's one of a kind, tastes good, is phenomenal, etc. Not when something is just average / blah. Coffee is decent, can't really mess that up. Service seems to be ok. Restaurant is almost always busy with a wait - at least the 3 times I've been. Tables and facilities are clean. I'd be willing to try this place one more time. read more

We had an incredible breakfast at First Watch. I've eaten at different locations previously, too. The service today was incredible. We were greeted at the door, our server was very attentive (but not overly!) and the food was incredible. Even after we paid at the register, we had someone come back over to check to make sure we had been helped. The restaurant itself was very clean and it was an inviting atmosphere. I went to this location to grab an order I called in. The restaurant was clean when I walked in. I grabbed the order that was ready for me. There was no silverware in the bag. The staff was polite but it didn't seem genuine. It was more of a because it's their job they are being polite. I didn't get this same feeling at the other locations I've visited. The food was okay. The potatoes were cold. The fruit wasn't fresh. The waffle was good though. While I'll still be a customer of First Watch as a company, I would not visit this location again. read more

I usually love first watch 5/5, but I normally go to the one in Hermitage. This one in Smyrna: not so great. The waitress started out by telling us how behind she was, but that she would take good care of us anyway. Normal wait for food, no biggie. But then a different waitress only brings my food. Mind you, there's 2 of us. Me and a 9 year old. He ordered a kids pancake and bacon. I dont get to say that though because she set my food down and walked off. 10 minutes later, my original waitress comes back and I tell her we never got my son's food. She profusely apologizes and then waits at the pass while they make another one. By this time my elevated egg sandwich is stone cold, I have 1 piece of bacon on it, and my bun is hard/stale. My potatoes are nice and crispy on the outside but then uncooked on the inside. ---sigh--- I hate giving bad reviews. I usually just let it go, but this was pretty bad. First thought: Amazing!! Great service, waitress helped me with kid seats, the food was delicious, presentable and even came with a smiley face for the kids even though we didn't ask for it. The Works omelette was perfect, lemon ricotta pancakes were incredible, and the environment was pleasant. Lastly. The price. 33$ for everything we got, and the taste? Wow!!! I'm impressed because this same quality and taste elsewhere is much more than that. Now, I love me some IHOP stacks and Cracker Barrel bacon and Shoney's breakfast bar, but something about fresh, seasonal ingredients and a non-homogenized menu excites me! I've been here a handful of times and I've gotten something different each visit. I'm usually a pancakes-and-bacon girl (sometimes French toast), but every now and then I like to branch out and get an eggs Benedict. (Note: I don't like eggs, but I'll try them.) Each time I've been to First Watch, I've gotten a different Benedict! The food always tastes wonderful. I come for late breakfast/early brunch to beat the crowd. The coffee is hot and delicious. The service is pretty good. (Each time I've been, I felt that our server, at some point, forgot about me. It doesn't bother me unless I need a refill!) The decor is rustic and neat. My parents came into town to visit me, and I decided to take them to First Watch for breakfast. The restaurant is usually busy, but luckily we beat the crowd and was seated right away. Our waitress was great, but service was slooooooooooow! It took forever for our food to arrive (20-30 minutes wait; I lost track of time). However when the food finally arrived, it was delicious! I got The Elevated Egg Sandwich, and it melted in my mouth. My pet peeve is limp bacon, but the bacon on the sandwich was nice and crispy. Sitting area was inviting; although I thought it was a little small. When busy on a Sunday u can look forward to a 20-25 mins wait. They have an app u can download, so u can put ur name in. There was a dead fly in my salad. The only reason why I'm giving this restaurant three stars is because my previous experiences have been great. I've only ordered the honey pecan chicken salad. Yesterday I ordered the salad and took about 6 good bites out of the salad while noticing it was a bit dry and not well dressed. I started tossing it around to coat it better when I noticed a dead fly in the lettuce. What made it worse was when the waitress went to get the manager, the first thing that the manager did was tell me how it couldn't have been in the lettuce from the back because there was no dressing on the fly. She proceeded to tell me that it had to have happened either on the way to the table or while the plate was at the table. I didn't have to pay and she did offer me something else, but I declined.
