ALL the staff I've come in contact with while staying with my mom are friendly and helpful. Food - Your loved one can order from the menus, there are snacks placed out which at night, I find particularly helpful for my mom. . Fruit is always available in any of the cafeterias which are on every floor or take out/delivery is available. They also have spa type fruit water and tea available 24/7. *I mean, they don't have to put orange slices in the water dispenser or lemon in the tea...but they do, little things make a difference.* There's also plain still water and ice is available 24/. I saw a review saying the food isn't that great, I totally disagree with that; so far everything my mom has had has been really tasty. Amenities: There is free valet, a nice pool area, lots of scheduled activities, lots of vignettes for visiting, reading, etc. They even have happy hour. . There's a nail salon, hair salon and they do "field trips". They have tech time where I assume they help residents with their devices, different types of religious service (Jewish, Christian, for ex.) There is karaoke, bingo, afternoon snacks with lively upbeat music. Staff also engages and anticipates needs of residents in the times. Security - Everyone signs in and out on a kiosk at a staff manned desk to receive a printed sticker badge. Every single time, so far without exception. The first time you have to provide your ID and take a pic. Living arrangements: Assisted, Rehab and fully independent. I have yet to see a disgruntled resident, though there probably are some, the vibe is happy, helpful, upbeat. I've not seen/heard a single staff speak less than kind and caring to any resident. Physical/occupational therapy, certified nurses/doctors are also on staff/available. You can have your own personal sitter to be with your loved one. It's in the heart of the Galleria area, a block/two from Nordstrom and Dillards. So, everything is literally at your fingertips. Concerns: one so far. They don't really seem to have enough staff for moving low motility weaker patients say from bed to wheelchair or bedside potty. So, if you're not able to assist for some reason, that might be an issue for you. I am so glad we decided upon Brookdale. I've seen many others with other family members, this one is a blessing.

I recently moved my father to Good Living Community and I couldn't be more pleased with my…read moredecision. My first step was speaking with the owner (TT) and he made me feel at ease and comfortable with checking the place out. I then flew to Houston and toured the place and the facility was very clean and the staff was very friendly. TJ, the manager (is a gem) has been so nice to work with, extremely helpful and gives me updates on my father (I am in a different state). Every time I talk to my father he tells me that everyone is very helpful and very nice to him! Picking a new home for an elderly parent is such a difficult and overwhelming process, Good Living Community made the decision and transition so much easier. Highly recommend!

I was given the name of Good Living Community Care by a placement company (sorry can't remember who but she was great too!) After 2 full months here at GLCC Mom has not been sick ONCE! The other $8500/mo. nursing home she was in the emergency room 3 times. Mom is happy and healthy and lucid finally. the Manager, Monica, is a real gem and God send. Everyone at this very personal care facility is helpful, accommodating to the point of unbelievable and just as sweet as can be. Wanni, the Asst Mgr, (def not spelled right) is absolutely fabulous, keeps Mom company, interacts a lot with her and makes her laugh. SO GOOD TO SEE! They even have a wonderful stylist who comes to make Mom feel beautiful, Iris Giron, washing, cutting her hair and doing Moms nails and she's very affordable. Speaking of which for all this personal care I pay less than 1/2 of what I was paying at the nursing home. Maritime Pharmacy, takes care of all Moms meds, they have a RN visit as needed and a physical therapist 2x's a week. I could go on and on about how wonderful this place is!

The staff you call them and they look back and keep on going. The bedroom by the nurse station with siren blaring all night. The bed mattress full of something like straw with one small flat pillow. The medication I need in middle of night for my severe pain, nurse Austin kept telling he he does NOT have it!!! Yet in the morning when manager came in at 8, the pill was available. I was in pain all night although i asked him for it MANY times. IGNORED!! The food: OMG for breakfast 2 pcs of dry toast with small jell containers they give out at fast food store. Dinner already served on a plat with white bread role few pcs of veggies and glass of water. I asked for soda and was harshly told they have none!! I'm here expressing my personal experience. Medicare need to inspect and evaluate for the sake of those staying there. NO WAY TO LIVE!!!!

The Com For Care located on Oyster Bay St in Sugarland does not keep their promises and will let…read moreyour loved one die while suffering. The caregiver is the only positive thing about this company and the kitchen was clean, other than that: HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. As a hospice RN, I can honestly say that they broke many guidelines and DEFINITELY did not provide appropriate end of life of care for my father. No pain medication for a dying person who could barely speak with a broken hip is not only a hospice guideline violation but it's inhumane. The hospice provider is GENCARE Hospice. RUN!!!! I was assured of updates, as well as promised that I would be given enough time to come be with my father so he would not die alone. I was notified 1 hr and 40 mins after he passed. He was receiving a "bed bath" when he passed. Any decent and compassionate hospice provider would have respected my requests that he not be moved unless absolutely necessary - because he screamed at the top of his lungs in pain. When I requested that he be given pain medications, at the very least, before they repositioned him, the hospice nurse justified not doing this by saying, "You know that no matter what we give him, he's still going to scream. A broken hip hurts". WHAT? I was blown away. I've never heard a more ridiculous answer in my 32 years as a nurse. Oh really? Then why wasn't he getting medicated regularly? She finally agreed to medicate him before moving him-which I have zero faith that she did. In hospice, a good nurse can tell when a patient is "active" which means the patient has hours -maybe days to live. No one there could tell that. I showed a video and photos of my father to MD friends and the owners of the hospice I work for and they were appalled. He was breathing 32/min... a clear sign of distress and screamed when I touched his head. All of my coworkers said he was "active" at that time. Not the Com for Care owner and certainly not his horrible hospice RN could see that. Every human being deserves to die pain free and with dignity. Do not trust this home with your family member and DEFINITELY DO NOT USE GENCARE hospice- unless you want your family member to suffer.

We did a lot of research and spoke with a number of places. We were also in the midst of some extremely difficult health issues with other family. We have been so pleased with the care our parents receive at Com For Care. The staff is positive and thorough and stable. The stability in a business of high turnover is highly unusual and a reflection of the long history of Com for Care and Ann's leadership. There really is not a comparable place that we have seen or even heard of. Our lives were changed once we moved our loved ones to Com for Care.

The food was excellent, facility super clean, Rehab therapists excellent and overall care good. We did have some challenges with my husband's demanding care at first but overtime we worked it our with the caring Director of Nursing Annie and amazing new Executive Director Michael. There were so many positives at Brazo Towers that I recommend it. The care of a stroke patient such as my husband is very difficult and necessitates a very active family advocate all the time. We were very disappointed in the lack of patient activities. Although a vigorous monthly calendar was posted very little activities occurred during my husband's stay. When we were leaving we saw indication regarding possible improvement in that area as well.

Thought maybe she was just having a bad day but unfortunately she was just as unpleasant yesterday as she was last week. Very condescending and horrible bedside manner, if this place has any others like her I would NOT recommended having your loved ones stay here.
