The pricing was reasonable and very clear about per hour and fees. I am glad that Shane recommended a 3rd person for our move. It took 6 hours. They worked continuously, no slacking. I would have preferred they took the legs off the dining table and wrapped the table top. There was damage to our couch, the fabric was torn in 3 areas. Fischer did send someone to repair the couch, thank you. Also, my handpainted lamp was rapped against the metal stairwell, luckily it did not break but the piece that holds the bulb was moved out of place, easily moved back, but still, a little more care overall would have been nice. read more

The two movers were very hardworking and helpful, however I did not find them the most careful people and smelled of smoke. One item was broken and while I did get refunded for the amount the manager I spoke with was a bit rude to me about it. Be careful when you sign the contract as I couldn't understand the mover when he went over it with me and signed to only be reimbursed for a dollar amount attached to the weight of the item, not value. I would prefer someone from the office with clear English would have gone over the contract with me prior to instead of the actual movers. Overall I think they did a good job, but not sure I would use them again. read more

Just this last weekend my boyfriend and I had moved from a 2 bedroom apartment to a house. I was fully prepared to spend all day with my boyfriend and friends doing multiple loads and buying pizza and beer for their help. My boyfriend convinced me to call a moving company to help alleviate the stress of moving. After a bit of research on moving companies I decided on Fisher. They had the highest reviews, they were reasonably priced and immediate availability. Not only did the show up on time, they had called and text me to see if we were ready and they could start early. Mike and Abe were the 2 to show up. Upon arriving they did a walk through of the apartment and sat down with us to go through the process and set up expectations. After finishing the move I couldn't have been happier. They fast, friendly, professional and very gentile with all of our belongings. My fiancé and I are purchasing a house and need to move. I looked at Yelp and saw great reviews for Fischer Van Lines so we requested a quote online. The quote was emailed with a price and an available time on the move date we requested. When I called to schedule the move, I was told they no longer had that date available, nor did they have the following day. I asked if there was anything they could do to help (different size trucks, different time slot) and the representative on the phone was short with me as I was told no. He seemed anxious to get off the phone with me and had an annoyed tone. I was disappointed with my experience on the phone so I responded to the price quote email, stating my disappointment and that I had gone with another moving company and that I would be writing about my disappointing experience on Yelp. Shortly after sending the email, I received a call from a representative at Fischer Van Lines (I will withhold his name). When I relayed my experience on the phone with him, he explained why the company was unable to get me in that day. That would have been fine, but he then had the audacity to inform me that any bad review made about his company, he saw as slander, and that he strongly suggested I look up the meaning of slander. The conversation quickly digressed as he told me I shouldn't take it personally that his company wasn't able to help me, and that I should have given them a month's notice (I gave them a 2 week notice). I tried to end the ridiculous conversation by thanking him for his follow-up call to the email and saying I would go ahead and stick with the other company that was able to assist me. Apparently that wasn't enough for him to end the conversation because he continued to say that his company didn't revolve around me!! So I interrupted him and said thanks and goodbye and hung up. Calling a potential customer and trying to threaten them off a bad review is the opposite of a successful business model. This individual should have simply stated his regrets that they couldn't help me and left it at that. The discourteous and offensive remarks crossed the line, thus the 1-star review. We certainly will not be using this moving company and will strongly recommend those we know looking for a mover to look elsewhere. read more

We had a really bad experience with Fischer Van Lines during our move from Thornton to Golden in July. They under-quoted to get the job, then hit me with an outrageous bill. On top of that, the owner was super insulting. I'd like to point out that the guys who actually did the moving were very professional and they did a great job. Their names were Harry, Freddy, and Jeremy. Read on for details: The company did an over the phone quote based on questions they asked about our 2600 square foot house and the furnishings therein. This included moving some appliances from the new house back to the old house. Unlike the other two companies who gave us quotes, they did not come out in person. My wife asked them if they were sure they wanted to do the estimate without coming out and they said they do it all the time, no problem. They quoted $1580. We went with them because their price was low and their Yelp rating was good. The move went well, but took longer than they estimated. I got handed a bill for $2480 which I refused to pay because it was 60% more than the estimate. The mover guys put me on the phone with a manager of sorts who was pretty professional but he refused to negotiate and basically said the price was the price. I continued to refuse payment. The movers told me that their office continually underestimates jobs and this is a common problem for them. I had a couple of phone conversations with the manager over the next hour or so. He told me that they would call the police on me if I didn't pay. The manager was polite at all times. Eventually the movers handed me a cell phone with "Mr. Fischer" on the line. He literally did not let me speak a word. He told me he was sick of customers like me making up their own prices. He said he was trying to enjoy time with his family and didn't need this poop except he did not say poop. He said he was calling the cops and that I was going to be locked up, then he hung up. I was so offended that a business owner would treat a customer that way. I told them that I would wait for the police to come. The manager called me back and wanted to know the most I would pay. I told him $2100 and paid. Terrible experience. Hope you never have to deal with the horrid "Mr. Fischer". read more

That was very inconvenient for them, but they came through with packers and a quick and efficient move across town. AND, the movers helped me put everything into place at my new home. I could not recommend them more. I used FVL to move on 05/26/10. I chose them based on the positive reviews on Yelp and they didn't disappoint! I got started by getting a quote online through their website. I was called back the next day and a time/date was set for the move. They called back the day before the move to confirm everything. On moving day, the movers called to let me know they were on their way and they arrived on time. Craig, Raul, and Ron were my crew and they busted their asses to get everything done as quickly, efficiently, and safely as possible! My moving destination was on the 4th floor of an old apartment building without elevators. 57 stairs stood between the moving van and my new home. The outside temperature was in the 90s. It was brutal but they got it all done on time with no damage! Here's what they charged me: $115 / HR (4 HR MIN) for 3 movers. $50 Fuel Charge. "Tips Are Greatly Appreciated" They suggest 8%-16% per mover. My crew was handsomely rewarded. They deserved it! Thanks! read more

Decent moving company. Very easy to schedule and very professional. I was scheduled for a 9 am move on a Friday. They had called me 3 times to confirm prior to the move. I took off from work to facilitate the move but the guys where over an hr late. Granted they called me 10mins before the moving time letting me know that they will be late but for someone that's working on a tight schedule it not okay. Due to this I lost 1hr wage adding another $100 to my total moving cost. The driver of the truck almost hit the building when backing-up which also not okay. The 2 guys that came by to help were extremely professional, quick and knew their way around moving/lifting heavy things. Moving only took 1.5hr (I only had 2 couches and couple boxes so that's what I anticipated) and total cost was more than $350. read more

I can't say as to if Fischer is good for handling your valuables, keeping your furniture safe, or giving you a reliable estimate. The reason I can't testify as to these things is because Fischer did not give me or my husband the courtesy of a return phone call or e-mail. We tried several times over the course of a week using the website and the phone numbers, leaving messages, you name it. We indicated that this would be a large move, meaning a pretty profitable contract for them. At one point my husband was able to reach someone, but this person said "IgottagoI'mdrivingI'llcallyoubacklater" and he hung up. At that point I even tried telling them in multiple phone messages that I knew of the yelp reviews, that I was considering other movers, and that I know several people who will need a mover in the next three months - and absolutely no contact from Fischer. I don't know why, in this economy, a business feels it doesn't have to return clients' phone calls, or why we should have to provide some kind of incentive to get a business to give us the time of day. But I can guarantee that no matter how good a potential client you may be, Fischer seems to view itself as above even basic communication and courtesy. I'll be recommending that my friends don't even bother with this one. read more

On both occassions the movers were prompt and professional. Nothing broken or scratched. They also did a great job fitting all of my belongings in one move ( I should have sprung for a bigger truck). DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY We were given a personal recommendation for this company which is why we used them. However after dealing with them on this move we're not sure how they ever got even a decent review. We moved a few months ago and were under quoted moving costs by hundreds of dollars, even after we reduced the amount of stuff they actually moved. We were required to report all damage within 48 hours of delivery, which we did including advising them of missing items. After numerous emails, 8 weeks later we finally had an appointment for repairs. The repairman never showed up. After 9 weeks we got a call from the owner who very rudely informed us it was not the mover's responsibility to repair or compensate us for the damage they caused. We were told he does not have time to deal with this because he has a lot of other things on his plate. I guess the other things are more important than paying customers. We still do not have all our property as they stated the missing items would be delivered by the repairman. My advice to anyone looking for a moving company is to stay far away from Fischer Van Lines. There are better moving companies to choose from. We will definitely not use them ever again. read more

I used Fischer Van Lines this summer and would never ever use them again. The guys were extremely careful with my stuff - I will give them that but they were so slowww. After all the moves I've had, these guys were the slowest movers I've ever had. Additonally up front, the guys told me they would be expecting a 15-20% tip at the end. I've never ever had movers tell me that. The tip should be my choice and not an expectation. I had a father that used to be a mover when he was younger and he also commented how slow these guys were. I ended up paying them almost double the cost because of how slow they were. As stated the guys were nice and careful, but it does me no good if you increase my cost by double and then have the audicity to expect a big tip at the end. I'm not a friend of a past client trying to smear this company. I'm writing an honest review of the experience I had with this moving company this summer. These guys helped unload a UHaul into my new apartment when I moved to Denver from out of town. They were friendly, professional, and incredibly quick, and were more than happy to haul a bunch of heavy crap up a spiral staircase to this loft thing above the kitchen. AND they even found the pieces that fell out along the way and were able to tell me where they belonged (it was a pretty important part of the futon). I'm definitely going to hire them again to move me out of this place when I wind up moving again. read more

Great service from Fischer Van Lines. I would use them again and probably wouldn't even get multiple quotes like I did this time. The quote I received was pretty close (a tad too low), and I didn't realize that it is customary to tip each mover. Other quotes I got were about 50% higher anyhow and higher than I wound up paying. They worked super hard for 4 hours straight to move my 2 bedroom apartment. At the end of the move Jeff (who seems to run the company) made sure that our move worked out well and that we were happy with everything. I requested a quote online and they responded immediately. Every single person I dealt with at the company, from the sales person on the phone, to the guys who packed me up, to the other guys that moved me, were courteous, professional, and great at what they do. Just some information: I had asked them to pack me on one day and move me on the next, but found out they do not provide any boxes. No worries, they recommended Centennial Container, so I called them, ordered the boxes, and Fischer picked them up on the way to my house. The packers took about 3 hours to pack up my 2 bedroom condo, which I thought was just about right. The next day, 2 men arrived to move my belongings from Cherry Creek to Ken Caryl, and that took about 8 hours. Also no issues. They were super careful with everything, disassembled and assembled my very complex, very large bed, and pointed out anything that had existing damage. I was super happy with this move. The ONLY reason I can't in good conscience give them 5 stars (and really...it pains me to do this) is that the quote was substantially less than what it turned out to be. I still think the price was reasonable, though, especially for the quality of service. I would recommend this company a million times. I also want to mention that they will come pick up your boxes when you're done, which is really great. read more

I hate to be one of the only negative reviews here but I've got to get it off my chest. I moved about a year ago from a one bedroom apartment in DTC to a storage unit about a mile down the road. Movers got there in the morning on time (I think it was around 9), however they brought no packing supplies, ie no boxes, tape, nothing. Apparently I didn't specify in my phone call when I scheduled that I needed my apartment "packed", I figured that's just implied. Also, I was never asked if I needed the apartment "packed." Anyways, I had to go out and buy packing material that ran me roughly $100-$200, I can't remember exactly, but I remember it being expensive. So I mentioned they got there in the morning. Here I'm thinking that this will be a half day kind of deal especially since it's all just getting dropped off at a storage unit. Nope, they got there in the morning and didn't leave till roughly 3 in the afternoon, which would have been cool had I not had to go back to work. They were spending a LOT of time at their truck between trips up to my apartment and back, I don't know if it just takes that much time to get stuff packed in the truck, but it seemed very abnormal. In addition, one of the guys kept trying to make conversation with me while he was casually checking out some of my stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love talking to people and the dude was nice enough, but when I'm paying you hourly, I don't appreciate you stopping for conversation. The move ended up costing me $700 not including the packing material I had to buy. I was irate but I was getting ready to deploy so I brushed it off. I've had experience with movers before being in the military, but this was honestly my worst. It took them forever, it was expensive, and they came unprepared. The only reason I'm giving this company two stars instead of one star is due to the friendliness of the guys doing the move and that they were able to schedule me just a couple days out. We used Fischer Van Lines on July 5th of 2012. The crew pf Harry, Steve, Anthony and ? did a fantastic job! We had a 4 bedroom house to move, a lot of stuff, and these guys busted their tails! Even tho it was 95 degrees, these guys only took a lunch break and several short water breaks over the course of our 13 hour move. Yes, 13 hours! We have that much stuff! They never messed around or wasted any time, they just kept working and working! All the while keeping a good attitude, smiling and joking while they worked. We hired these guys to help us move from Denver to Durango. We had used Fischer once before to unload our PODS unit when we moved to Denver, and had been very impressed with their speed. So this time, I looked around at other places (because Fischer's rates are a little higher), but then came back to the company that had impressed us first. Boy, am I glad we did! We had Ron and Ali help us pack, and Ron came back with Shane to load up the truck and drive down 2 days later. I wasn't there for the pack, but my mother in law was. She is a military spouse, so has completed many, many moves. She said that these guys were far and away the best packers she has every experienced. Ron was literally running up and down the steps to get things done as quickly as possible. They are very conscious of the fact that they are hourly, and actually try and save you as much as they can! When it came time to load the truck, I watched these guys work fast, again running up and down stairs when it was safe to do so. They also did everything with a huge smile on their face, and were very kind and polite. They pointed out scuffs and scratches on furniture, and protected our belongings well. Once they arrived in Durango, it was dark, but knowing that we wanted to get things in ASAP, they worked under headlights from cars to get our stuff unloaded into a storage unit. These guys may be slightly more expensive, but don't be fooled, they are the absolute best at what they do. I'd rather pay a little more and know that things will be done right. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again in the future! read more

These guys are amazing. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars was because they were supposed to be at my place at 4:30 pm, and then over to the my new apartment by 6pm (I had everything packed and ready to go), but they were running late (about an hour late), and I had to pick up my apartment keys so I could let them in. So it ended up being us both being late and a very late night. But they gave me a discount of sorts and did apologize for the lateness. I in turn gave them a generous tip for both of the movers. They were courteous and polite, and was able to move all of my stuff into my new apartment within a few hours while being fast and efficient. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a great move with wonderful helpers. And yes I would totally have them move me again!! read more
