She is an amazing waitress, seemed to be the only waitress on this evening & she managed everything so well, kept the jokes & smiles flowing! When we walked in, it was only one other party seated. We were asked if we wanted a table or booth. A booth is always my choice! It started to get more customers in the middle of our meal but I guess for a Monday after a holiday this could be normal. It was my first time ever doing anything like this. Normally I'm very picky with seafood and complicated ways to eat food usually sends me. But this was sooooo good. I'd been craving a solid seafood boil--especially crab legs--for over a month. My husband, who's not a fan, finally got tired of hearing the same answer every time he asked what I wanted to eat. So off we went to Tasty Crab House. We were seated immediately, which was a great start. They serve Pepsi products, beer, and wine--no cocktails or hard liquor, so just a heads-up if that's your thing. The place has a casual seaside harbor vibe, with wood plank walls covered in sharpie graffiti. Nothing's off-limits; guests are encouraged to leave their mark. Our server, Kristy, was fantastic--patient, friendly, and really knowledgeable. She walked us through the menu and made sure all of our modifications (no corn or potatoes) were taken care of without any issue. I went with two snow crab clusters and half a pound of shrimp, tossed in a mix of all their house flavors. My husband chose the lobster tail and shrimp in butter garlic sauce. Tried Tasty Crab on a Tuesday night. First time at this restaurant so not sure what to expect. We did a takeout order via their website or it directs you to order on another website. Simple order Assorted seafood Cajun pasta, a clam chowder and a kids portion Fried Catfish with fries. Upon ordering it said 20 minutes and when we arrived it was ready. So I know this place is known for their boils and if I had ordered that I would expect it in a bag. Well, that is how my seafood with pasta came in a bag with several gloves to wear as protection. Now the amount of seafood was perfect and it included shrimp, mussels, clams broccoli plus spaghetti for the pasta. It had a Kick to it which I like so taste wise it was very good. New England Clam Chowder was like milk and flour with chunks of potatoes some clams but this was a hard pass, terrible. Fried Catfish was very good as were the fries. The comments about the names everywhere are true. Just about every inch of the walls has people's names. Not many tables occupied but it was a Tuesday. I would try them again in person. read more

Highly reccomend the oyster basket mainly because the meat was so silky. I usually get bad experiences with oysters since they are usually not fresh and stinky. However, here... amazing!! The dessert was ok, we ordered a tuxedo bombe, and the peanut butter explosion. The tuxedo bombe was light and airy and chocolate flavored. Though the peabut butter explosion was really rich, and a bit too sweet for us. But never be afraid to try a new food! I've been dying to try a seafood boil and I'm not sure what's taken me so long. I had this place bookmarked for quite a while and decided, the day had come. We placed a takeout order and were quoted 20 mins but it took much longer than that. I got there 30 mins later and still had to wait 10 mins or so. There are lots of options. You can order fried baskets and traditional boils with quite a few options for sides. There are combos or you can piece together a meal. We ordered a shrimp basket with fries, which was way more filling than expected. The shrimp were huge. The hush puppies were also really good and crunchy. I also ordered 1/2 pound of shrimp in a Cajun sauce and 1/2 pound of crawfish. I absolutely loved that Cajun sauce. I picked medium heat but could have kicked it up a notch. It was sooo tasty. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and would get a pound of those next time. The crawfish was okay. It was my first time trying crawfish and it wasn't bad but wasn't my favorite. I love how you can customize the sauce your boil comes in and the contents of the boil. The corn was super delicious because it soaked up all the Cajun sauce. You can make it however you'd like. This place is great, as long as you don't mind getting a little messy! Customers are given bibs and gloves so you can go all in on your food. I got the baby clams and crab legs. This place has been on my radar since I've been home for the holidays. Today was the perfect opportunity to celebrate my sons birthday while having an outing with the fam. I remember this place was a buffet spot that I grilled out in many of times back in the day. Now it's a seafood spot, Nice! So I've been out in Pensacola for the past two years where seafood is fresh, cheap and abundant. I was very happy to see the menu had all of the things I would normally get if I were back in Pensacola. I decided to go with a 1/2 lb of crawfish, king crab and head on shrimp. I recently learned how to properly eat crawfish from a New Orleans native and what I learned is that the juice from the head is the best part (no weirdness). When my bag of seafood came out I went right for the crawfish, popped the head off and sucked it for juice.... nothing came out, bone dry. Very disappointed with that but the tails were tasty. Next I moved on the the king crab. A little disappointed that it was only one leg. It had a lot of meat but one Leg for $17, come on! Lastly was the shrimp. The shrimps was good, as well as the bag sauce and sides (potatoes and egg). For $35 plus I found myself eating my father in-laws and wife's fried shrimp when I was done which was really good. Have I been a bit spoiled because of where I currently live, YES! could there have been more for the buck, YES! Do they need to figure out how to get some boil juice I'm the heads of the crawfish, YES! If this place was in Pensacola it would be my last time. First, I tried the Cajun shrimp fried rice, one could use more shrimp, two overkilled it on the salt and well it far from any semblance of fried rice. Now the seafood boils itself was amazing, red potatoes were fork tender and coated in the sauce, corn was fresh and always bathing in the sauce, shrimp was bit overcooked but still good, mussels cooked just right and plenty of it, now the crab, which was easily the best part was perfect, a whole half crab and plenty of meat to dig out after cracking it open. I keep the sauce from the bag to give the rice favor and the shrimp chips, well some of them tasted bit stale and some still had a nice crunch. like the bag of seafood boil, this place is a mixed bag for me, pun intended. read more

Also impossible to eat without small a seafood fork or scissor to cut through the shell ***Bring your own **** And don;t forget a real metal fork, too, which you'll need in place of the plastic one they supply with a paper plate. Oh, and 3 of our crab meals were hauled to the table in huge plastic bags, not served normally on a plate. We needed the plastic gloves they provided to actually remove the food in the bag. A HUGE greasy mess. Fried shrimp, catfish, softshell crab, standard issue, served in a plastic basket with fries, tasted good and fresh and WAY easier to eat. $410 meal (for 6 people) included 8 beers and 4 wines. There are many Crab Boil places that have popped up in the past few years - so really good, some not so good - Tasty Crab in Poughkeepsie is one of the REALLY GOOD ones! First off - rather than dried up pale looking stringy crab, all of our snow crab sections were fresh and tender and the meat pulled easily from the shells that crack with a great snap and were just succulent and delicious- and the potatoes and corn boil juice (sauce) was so savory. Also added scallops to my boil which were also tender snd fresh - and the fried green beans appetizer was also spot on. Randy our server was friendly and attentive - and the place is clean and well managed. First time here. Service was below average. New place but the owners are experienced in the restaurant business and need to improve the service by waiters and staff. Menu is small but well made, except the lack of appetizer options. Seafood combo dinner was very good. Made with Tasty Sauce and fresh seafood. No beer available yet which was a downer. Didn't even have unsweetened ice tea ! Overall it was unique fun dining experience with kids be able to write on the walls and posts and the seafood was decent. I've visited the tasty crab house twice and the second time scored the 2 star review.. The first time I ordered the fried shrimp basket with fries - it was okay but some shrimp were not deveined which in turn left a terrible after taste when biting into what looked like a well battered shrimp. Others in my party had the Dungeness Crab in Cajun sauce, blue crab in tasty (house) sauce, and a veggie bag with just the potatoes and corn in the tasty sauce. Everyone raved their foods were well flavored, tasty, and would have recommend. I would have given it 3 stars just because the shrimp was not clean. The second time,however, when we returned we got the king crab in the hot tasty sauce and a fried calamari basket. The king crab was not plentiful for the market price charged and a bit over cooked. The calamari was well prepared. The house tasty sauce made us sick as it did not settle well and so after getting food poisoning from this we decided not to return. We also know someone else who initially recommended the place who returned on their own the week before us and ordered the house tasty sauce in blue crab and also experienced mild food poisoning ( we discovered after we told them about our experience). So not sure if it was just a couple of bad batches of seafood or if the sauce was contaminated but overall definitely hindered the scoring. read more
