Wow talk about going out of the way for the customer, my experience here was great. This location was very clean and inviting. Their bar is a hybrid there is an interior and exterior seating area for nice Texas days. They have a great oyster bar with many varieties of oysters some I've never heard of. I sat down at the bar and after learning that I was new the server let me sample all of their signature soups Roasted Jalapeño, Crab Bisque, and Clam Chowder. First of all, that was a really cool customer service, food sampling, and profitable gesture by their staff. I chose the crab bisque, the clam chowder was good as well, as was the roasted jalapeño. I chose the crab is because it was creamy warming, and the heartiest of the three of you don't count the potatoes in the clam chowder. The Seafood platter came with catfish, shrimp and oysters, but you could sub the catfish with beer bartered cod. I choose the cod and it was excellent but very much a standard frozen cod cut in common shape. The oysters were were seasoned well I'd recommend. The shrimp was great, but I was searching for the oysters. Their customer service, and attention to detail is good. We ordered the calamari (was free because I had a birthday coupon). It was seasoned perfectly and crispy. The aioli was delicious and light tasting letting the calamari flavor shine thru. We ordered the New England clam chowder and the Jalapeño chowder. The jalapeño chowder was tasty. You could taste the jalapeños flavor without the heat. There was nothing else in the soup, as far as vegetables or protein. The New England clam chowder was a disappoint, as it was super salty. It has clams and no potatoe/vegetables. If there were some it disintegrated. I had a bite of the red beans and rice and it was salty as well. I don't like blackened too much so I didn't try the chicken, but husband said he enjoyed it and was spicy and flavorful. I had the fish n chips. It was good and had a light seasoning of salt. French fries were crispy and lightly salted. The hush puppies were tasty and all gone. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Visited this restaurant to meet a few co-workers and also celebrate the birthday of one. We were a party of three and decided to sit outside as the weather was fine. It was comfortable as they had the outdoor heater on at not so high temperature. The menu is very heavy on sea food - which should be obvious - but offers some non-sea-food options as well. The menu is not elaborate so it is not overwhelming. They offer a decent choice of alcoholic beverages and also have happy hours during the weekdays. Service is very good and our server was professional as well as pleasant. We stayed talking for over an hour even after we had settled out check, and our server came to check on us without ever bothering us or pushing us. Seems like a popular place to grab some lunch - was pretty busy on the day I stopped in! I was a little confused when I walked in, as the hostess stand is very tiny and at that particular moment no one was standing there, so I wandered into the restaurant until I got it figured out. I like the set-up of the restaurant - there are seats along the length of the bar, another smaller set of seats at a counter right by the open area kitchen, tables on the open floor space, booths along the walls, and a pretty decent sized patio. Had a very quick lunch to day so will have to come back and try some more items off their menu - but I quite enjoyed my selections. I had a bowl of the Crab bisque with some toasted bread for dipping, and the SMOKIN' HOT SHRIMP from their appetizer menu. The crab bisque was hot and had good flavors. I LOVE spicy, so I quite enjoyed the shrimp! They are not kidding when they say "smokin' hot"! Popcorn shrimp with honey chipotle sauce, diced jalapeño,and bleu cheese crumbles. The crumbles added a nice flavor to combat the spice kick of the fine jalapeno pieces. To drink I got a hurricane.Wow! Let's just say I had a nice buzz for the next couple hours! Came here for weekend lunch with the family. I was looking forward to this visit due to the great reviews on Yelp. We arrived shortly before 1pm and were seated immediately. We started our meal with the oyster nachos. There is definitely a lot of bold flavors in every bite. The fried oyster was delicious and I liked the spicy kick you get from the pico de gallo. My wife was not a fan of the appetizer, I guess she expected more from their signature item on the menu. For my entree I had the blackened seafood platter with asparagus and seasonal veggies. The seafood was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. I enjoyed the catfish and shrimp but the blackened oysters was not a good choice. The texture from being blackened did not make it very appetizing. The sides were good. My kids had the chicken fingers with fries and the mac & cheese. Neither kids meal was a hit since we ended up taking most of the food home. Overall I enjoyed the flavors for most of the items I tasted but this restaurant was not a big hit for my family. I think it's worth another visit but maybe give it a shot for dinner. Again, flavor was good but a bit of a mismatch for our expectations. Would I come here again? Yes. Is it one of my must-go-to fish restaurants? Probably not. I enjoy every visit to Fish City Grill. Their food is good. Their selection is good. But even better is their service! Every location I have been to, including Half Shells, has phenomenal employees. This was a later meal, around 8pm, an hour before they closed on Sunday, and the restaurant was still half full. We ordered clam chowder, Mediterranean shrimp tacos (special) and shrimp & crab stuffed flounder. If you like raw oysters, they have a decent selection, but we weren't feeling it that evening. We didn't specify cup or bowl for our clam chowder, so when they brought out a cup, I appreciated them not making us pay more. More soupy but plenty of clam, almost enough for every spoonful. The tacos were one of 5 board specials that change periodically. Usually when I get tacos, I'm still hungry, but I was full after eating my plate. There were 3 good sized tacos with lots of flavor. I got a side of garlic wilted spinach that didn't have much taste but nothing a little salt couldn't handle. The flounder was simple and good, again with plenty of shrimp and crab and a delicious beurre blanc. Comes with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans. Last time I had the grilled salmon and it was delicious as well. I love this place, the customer service is wonderful, ambiance is fun. Was in the area and decided to stop in here. For an appetizer we had the chargrilled oysters and redbeans and rice. The oysters weren't chargrilled but more like baked with cheese and lemon thrown on at the end. They were rubbery and some were burnt. The redbeans were really good and flavorful. My wife's catfish was crispy but had no flavor but the shrimp was light and tasty. I had the shrimp and grits, my shrimp tasted boiled( could have been seared with seasoning) and my grits weren't very cheesy. Kind of a bland dish. read more
