I stumbled upon this restaurant through inKind and after reading their reviews on Yelp I knew I needed to give them a try. **Disappointing Service Despite the Great First Impression** I originally chose Roma Italian Bistro because I saw so many Yelp reviews praising the amazing food and service. Unfortunately, our experience was very different. When we first arrived, we were warmly greeted, and even the owner came over to speak with us. At that point, everything seemed great. Unfortunately, the service changed as the meal went on. Our waitress repeatedly walked by our table to refill drinks at nearby tables, but despite me trying to get her attention, she never acknowledged us. I gave up and tried to get another waitress attention. Later, a waitress came to the table literally next to ours to ask if they needed a box. I raised my hand to get her attention because we needed a box and our check, but, she did not acknowledge us. She was literally just 2 feet away. Finally, I saw another waitress coming my way. I waived at her and instead of coming straight to me, she proceeded to greet another table and made conversations w the customer before getting to us. What made the experience especially uncomfortable was that we are Asians, and I also noticed that another table of Indian guests seemed to receive very little attention, while the predominantly white tables around us appeared to receive much more attentive service. I cannot say for certain why this happened, but as a customer, that difference in treatment was noticeable and left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. We were ready to leave, but we couldn't even get someone to bring us a box or our check. Eventually, the owner came by. Ironically, he told us he hoped we would come back. Unfortunately, we won't. Great first impression, but attentive and respectful service should be consistent throughout the entire meal and for every customer. Excellent dinner tonight. Veal Parmesan isn't on the menu but they have Chicken Parmesan so I asked if they could do veal and they were very accommodating. My meal was excellent. My wife had the Frutti di Mare mixed seafood over linguine in a spicy red sauce. Hers was also excellent. The fried calamari appetizer was light, fresh, and perfectly salted. The garlic rolls that came with the meal were soft, hot and chewy. A+ meal with a sweet attentive waitress. Nice old school New York city decor. Will definitely return. Great job. read more

From the moment we walked in we were greeted with amazing customer service!!! Ambiance was great and everything was clean. And the FOOD....oh the food was absolutely delicious. 100% recommend!! My husband read the impressive reviews and suggested that we visit for my birthday. It was definitely a treat! Our server (Sam) was so friendly and engaging. He was also very generous and presented us with a slice of cheesecake just for giving their restaurant a try. Lina (owner) was also warm and inviting. She mentioned that they have live music on Fridays and homemade cheesecake that she actually makes! The food was exceptional. I especially loved the Caesar salad. The food was presented very hot, which is important to me. My husband had the vodka tortellini, and I had the lasagna - both divine and large portions. We received a flyer in the mail so we decided to try this new restaurant as I'm going on a try new Italian restaurant kick. The inside is super cute, comfortable and feels like a New York Italian joint. Fresh warm bread was terrific. They made me a great latte and food was good. Prices are very reasonable. My kids and I enjoyed it. Service was good and fast. And as I'm writing this review I'm eating the leftover of my beef lasagna, which I was extra excited about since I do not eat pork. read more

Just left Roma for the first time and I had an amazing experience. I got the vodka pasta, which was one of the best vodka sauces I have ever had. My girlfriend got the calzone and the crust was phenomenal. Sam was our server and he was super helpful and all around a great human. Surprised to see this place slow because our experience and food was amazing. We will definitely be back to check out the live music on the weekends. read more

Discovered this neat little spot via Yelp while traveling on business & staying 1-2 miles away. It's located in a non-descript strip mall, but the bright bistro lights out front were warm & welcoming. The fresh new interior was a pleasant surprise with a large mural of the Brooklyn Bridge on one wall and a large granite/quartz bar, surrounded by booths & tables. I ordered the lobster ravioli with shrimp & vodka sauce, side salad, house merlot, & a tiramisu later for dessert. Their house made Italian dressing has a tomato base which was a first for me & somewhat unusual, but OK. I loved the banana pepper & crutons most on the salad. The lobster ravioli was excellent, with large pillows and good sized shrimp on top. The vodka sauce was very good! Their house made dinner rolls are nice, light, and herbed. One glass of wine was perfect for this casual Italian dinner in an upbeat decor. I also enjoyed the tiramisu dessert, light and creamy and dusted with powdered sugar and chocolate drizzle. A very enjoyable new (1 month old) spot - give it a try! Great value for the reasonable menu prices. Very good service by both who served me. Outstanding local place in Plano. Tastefully done interior and everything is clean and spotless. All our entrees were excellent and the free house garlic rolls were warm and started us off on the right foot. We had chicken fettuccine, a meatball sub, Italian trio, Rigatoni special, and a side salad with house dressing. Everyone brought home leftovers from the plentiful portions. The owner, Kenny, stopped by to check that everything was good and the servers were friendly and efficient. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night and was not disappointed! We were seated immediately, the service was great, and the live music was fun (and not too loud). The lobster ravioli was so good. In my opinion it needed less tomatoes and more basil, but okay ... that's personal preference. The real stand out of the visit was the singing. We'd never been here before but we googled something near our hotel and it popped up. The place was dead on a Sunday night but as soon as we walked in we were greeted by a guy named Tanner who was SO warm and welcoming and made us feel like honored old friends. He got us seated, brought our drinks, made enthusiastic and honest menu suggestions. We got the stuffed mushrooms, manicotti, garlic cheese/tomato bread, a stromboli and a lasagna. Everything was made fresh and came out piping hot and tasted homemade. Portion sizes were great, half of us took home leftovers. The free garlic bread was very tasty and soft/pillowy and warm. The places are very reasonable too - basic pasta runs you $10-14, more advanced stuff like shrimp, crab, lobster etc runs a bit higher but I didn't see much on the menu over $25. The atmosphere has great NYC photos everywhere and brick walls, very cliche Italian restaurant, with a full bar as well with a big selection. There are TVs mounted so I assume they show games etc sometimes. Tanner took awesome care of us and when the meal was done, he brought us dessert - a limoncello cake (TO DIE FOR) and their panna cota, which was fresh and very tasty and ooey-gooey goodness. read more

I like sampling new restaurants in town and Roma did not disappoint. The vodka sauce on the stuffed mushrooms was rich and I was even able to special order a cracker-thin crust on a pizza because the dough is rolled in-house.
