11/11/25: Stopped by for their Veteran's Day meal deal. I sat at the bar, since I was alone, had a beer and had their Pick 2 combo. The restaurant wasn't very busy during lunch. I appreciate that they honor Veterans and that the staff is usually friendly and attentive. I like their chalkboard, which seems to be updated daily, and has great deals listed. The restaurant and bar area were very clean. The staff is usually pretty helpful and friendly. There was plenty of parking out front. read more

The new menu is not good. Crab cakes now are horrible and taste like tinny canned crab. No longer have shrimp and grits on the menu and the boiled crawfish were awful. This used to be our go-to place, but sadly am not sure that we will be back. read more

After being exposed to all that is Fish City through a Yelp event some weeks ago,I decided it was good enough for a return visit. This trip I sampled: Blackened Texas Redfish over Orzo- very good although, small portions Crab Cake- subtle soft interior and crunchy exterior. Enjoyable Calamari - I usually don't do calamari. But,this was a nice crunchy and tender preparation that I really liked. Key Lime Pie- Average Overall it's apparent that Fish City is doing a balancing act of delivering a satisfying seafood experience while keeping prices low and making a profit. Came here for an event and came back because the food is that good! They have a patio (always great for those nice days) however this time we sat inside. We arrived during happy hour and I can't stress to you enough . . . Partake in it!!! I got crawfish (that comes with taters & corn) along with a dozen of the chargrilled oysters. Don't get me wrong, the crawfish was good but the oysters is where it's at. I washed it down with a cold beer and was full as a tick when I left. Really enjoyed my fish and chips and the kind customer service here at Fish City Grill. It was our first time visiting so they brought out a sampler of their delicious soups to try along with the oyster nachos. Wow! Fried oysters here are delicious!! Tons of vibrant flavors and everything tasted fresh fresh fresh. I also tried the gumbo and was thoroughly impressed. Amazing customer service as well. After a 2 year hiatus, my family and I decided to go back to FCG. This time was 100x better than the last review! We were seated quickly, and Autumn was our amazing server. She asked us how we were doing and quickly took our drink order. Throughout the meal, she came by regularly to refill our water glasses and check on us. We order the oyster nachos, calamari, and trout dip for appetizers and they were all superb! My sister and I split the honey chipotle shrimp tacos, my mom ordered the fish tacos, and my dad had the tuna poke bowl from the chalkboard specials. All were fantastic! It was an easy choice for lunch on a bright Sunday afternoon because of the location. I chose the grilled chicken and andouille over red beans and rice. In the future I may ask for the chicken to be blackened to add another layer of flavor. Not a bad choice. The chicken was pale and not spicy (for sensitive eaters) so I doused with red hot sauce. Today I stopped in for lunch after a particularly stressful work thing and sat on the patio by myself with a glass of wine and their super food salmon salad. So friggin' good. Things I've had before and will continue to get: their hush puppies, oyster nachos, and seraphina fish tacos. First off, if Misty's your waitress ...listen to her. The woman knows her seafood like Poseidon himself gave her a part-time job. She steered me toward the Garlic Caper Grilled Salmon, and while I wasn't expecting fireworks, it definitely delivered a well-seasoned, satisfying experience. Moist, garlicky, with capers bringing that salty sass... I'd give it a solid 7/10. Not life-changing, but definitely life-improving. Misty's service? 10/10. This is my other "go-to" seafood house in my neighborhood. Service is always excellent. The place is always super clean. Management is in the house and paying attention to everything. Seating is comfortable with none of the high-chairs or the hideous and torturous industrial metal factory chairs. The food is always excellent with lots of options. I love the grilled or blackened salmon. They always have some great seasonal sides. The grits are excellent. Always a good choice! read more

Im going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are usually better than what i had tonight. Now, im from the seattle area and i love seafood- good, fresh, quality stuff. I havent eaten much seafood since moving to Dallas...because were in the middle of the country... My friend and i started with the calamari and it was amazing. It came with a tarter sauce and sweet chili sauce which were both super tasty. I also tried their prickly pear frozen margarita. It was decent, very pretty too. For my entree i couldnt decide between the fish or shrimp tacos and the waiter helped me with a half order of fish tacos and a single of the shrimp. My friend had given the fish tacos rave reviews and they both sounded good, so i went for it. I took a bite of each and then a couple more. I ended up eating about half a taco of each type. I found it odd that the shrimp tacos had a ton of celery on them...who does that? I dislike celery but forgot to order without so i just picked it off, no big deal. I was surprised with how much was even on there. The shrimp tacos had a funky after taste. I couldnt do it. The fish tacos had cheese in them which threw me off...cheese and fish just dont go together. I have never sent back food in my life. Maybe i should instead of just being unhappy. But it makes me very uncomfortable. My friend wanted to make sure i enjoyed my meal so she called our server over and explained that i didn't like the food. They whisked it away and brought me back a menu. For my second attempt i decided to get a half order of fried catfish since that's a southern delicacy i hadnt tried before. I didnt love it. I put hot sauce on as directed and it was better. I had her try it and she said it tasted normal. Apparently im just not a big fan of catfish. Thats ok. I appreciated that they were very kind. No one made me fight over it or feel bad so that was a relief. Our server was Cris and he was amazing. Everyone go give him great tips and management- give him a raise bc hes amazing. read more

I ordered a fried catfish dinner to go. My sides were hush puppies and rice and beans. The hush puppies were my favorite. They were crisp on the outside and moist inside. I liked the sausage in the rice and beans, but I thought it was a touch too salty. The catfish was ok. I did not care for the batter. I mix a little flour with my cornmeal when I fry catfish, so that's my personal preference. I also lightly season my batter. The catfish lacked a little seasoning to me. Fish City Grill is located in a shopping center anchored by a Whole Foods Market. Neat space with indoor and patio seating. When we arrived we got the last open table. There is a huge black board on the wall with all of the specials and the catch of the day. It is a strain to read if your seated in one of the booths against the wall just under the black board. On the board there was a variety of oysters and fish. We ordered the following items: Blue point oysters 5 stars clean, fresh Crab Bisque 4.5 stars very rich and very spicy Fish and chips 4.5 stars perfectly battered, chips/fries were just ok Blackened Snapper 5 stars excellent, flaky tender, blackened but not overpowering. I had the salmon that was decent, but would have liked a little more kick with the flavoring. The prices were reasonable and there was a good crowd so you could tell it has a good reputation since it was a Monday evening.
