2/22/2025 My spouse made a reservation weeks in advance for my 60th birthday. When we arrived, we were not on the reservation list ;( Turns out there are 2 Saltgrass Steakhouses in Plano. However, the host was very gracious and asked us to give her a minute to set up a spot for our large family of 8 adults and 2 grand kiddos. She put us in the back room, at a table, in the back corner, kind of away from everyone. So it was perfect with my balloons and birthday cake decorating the table! The best part was Jalen was our server. He was so polite, super patient and courteous from first introduction all the way through dinner, dessert and up until we paid our separate tabs. We never had to ask to refill our drinks. He never gave us a chance to ask for anything, he checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed and were happy at all times. And we are high maintenance, he is amazing!!! Saltgrass is one of my favorite restaurants. That's why I wanted my birthday celebration here. So it never disappoints, the foods always good, I've never had a bad rare steak or loaded baked potato here. I'm simple. But the family ordered a variety of entrees. We started with fried mushrooms, they were surprisingly spicy, but good. Spouse had ribs with fried shrimp, loved, grands had kids sirloin steak with fries, they ate every fry, of course, son had burger w truffle fries, he said the fries didn't have truffle, so he was disappointed he paid extra for basically regular fries, younger son had a ribeye with mashed potatoes, loved, daughter had a steak salad, she said it was good, my dil and I split a rare sirloin w loaded baked potato and it was delicious, as always... My homemade devil's food with chocolate ganache cake, that I baked for myself was super rich and delicious too, lol The sparkler candles and Saltgrass' $25 birthday discount were awesome extra bonuses! read more

I wish there was a place like this in Arizona! I had just gone to my friend's funeral and wanted a delicious steak to help decompress. This place did not disappoint. Walking distance to my hotel, and the two gentlemen behind the bar were so good! The food was delicious, there was football on the TV and the service was impeccable! Three of us came to dinner on Monday June 15th, it started off okay but when we ordered salad with extra dressing - it took the waitress 2 separate times checking on us before bringing the dressing. I ordered a filet with a sweet potato and when the food came - it was with a loaded baked potato. Common error maybe done in the kitchen but I let her know before dropping off the food... needless to say the sweet potato never came. I asked her 3 separate times and after waiting almost 30 minutes... my steak was now cold. I ate the steak without the sweet potato and asked her to just take it off the ticket. She said "I'll let the manager know and remove the sweet potato (which is a premium side). The bill came and guess what... the sweet potato was still on the ticket. I asked her now a second time to remove the $7 sweet potato that I never got. I have never had that type of experience at Saltgrass. read more

1/15/25: (FOUR star review) We arrived for dinner and Randall was our host. He was very friendly and polite. He made us feel welcome since the moment he introduced himself. The pomegranate mojito was good and the draft beer was cold. The Mac N Cheese was pretty good, as well as the Queso with Brisket. The steaks were prepared as requested, and the were really good. The fried shrimp did not disappoint. We appreciated Randall treating us as valued customers! 12/22/23: (FOUR star review). We decided to try this location again, since it had been a while since our last subpar outing. Rico was our host, and he was pretty awesome! This location was one of the better locations for Salt Grass I have been to. Our greeting and service was very good. Emma was our server and overall she did a good job. The ambiance was typical Salt Grass. Animal heads, saws, etc. on the walls. The food was really good. The last few times I have tried other locations the food has been too salty. Today's meal was different. I will definitely come back to this location when I want Salt Grass again. read more

Food is great been here multiple times an spend over $100 each time , tonight may 23rd (my birthday) we had set a reservation, once arrived the host were rude off the bat and told us we did not have a reservation we showed proof an she insisted it was the wrong Plano location, when we only see one saltgrass location in Plano. We waited anyways to keep the night alive , we had asked to be seated outside when we first talked to the host but once it was our turn to be seated she then continued to try and seat us inside an said there was no way we could get service outside after bringing us to a table we did not want to sit at . We found ourselves at Saltgrass for a late lunch over the weekend and found it didn't disappoint. We both started with the house salad. The portion was perfect so you didn't get full before your meal. I went with the Blackened Redfish with Brussels Sprouts as my side. The fish was cooked perfectly where the blackened spices weren't overwhelming and the shrimp, crab meat, and lemon butter complemented the flavor. The sprouts were flash(?) fried with good seasoning and a bit of a sauce. My husband enjoyed the Cajun Ribeye that also featured shrimp, crawfish, with tomatoes and lemon butter. The meat was prepared the way my husband had requested and had good flavor. He did broccoli as his side and was pleasantly surprised to have it steamed rather than drenched in butter. Our server was friendly and attentive. The ambiance is definitely a rustic western vibe. I had better memories of Saltgrass when I visited during my younger years, but this time around was pretty disappointing. I had made a reservation for a group of 10, thinking that service would be quicker once we all arrived. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case as the time to get seated, order our drinks, get our drinks, order our food, and receive our food took about an hour... Now granted, the food and drinks were delicious so no complaints about the quality. But it looked like they were severely understaffed and it was hard to find our server for nearly anything. I probably won't be going back. There are many other sit-down restaurants to choose from that offer quicker service than Saltgrass. read more

East Plano location. I was here the evening of 3/27/25 for my birthday with my daughter. We had steak, salad and a side. We asked for smothered steaks, they did not come out that way we told our server then they brought sautéed onions & mushrooms in a bowl to share. This was the only exact thing we ate. Early Saturday morning (around 1am) we both woke up extremely sick. Same exact symptoms. I believe this was food poisoning from the onions or mushrooms we had. I called Saltgrass Saturday around noon spoke to a woman manager so they were aware and was told the GM would call me, still waiting on that call. Worst birthday weekend ever. I had plans, had to cancel due to food poisoning. Very disappointed in Saltgrass, they should take this seriously. Food poisoning is no joke! read more

On Wednesday 12-17-2025 my wife and I thought we'd try dinner at this location which is not far from our house. We haven't been to a Salt Grass in a while. Our waiter took our order. I ordered prime rib. A few minutes into our salads and bread, he came out and advised that they only serve prime rib on the weekends. I didn't read the fine print under the offering on the menu. I wish they had told me or had an alternate menu for the weekend. They asked me to make another selection. Honestly I didn't think the rest of the menu looked that great. They comped our salads and ice teas (which was nice) and we left. Looks like a restaurant chain on their way out to me. There's other steakhouses within a stones throw that have better menus or at least know what's cooking and when. read more

Came here today for the first time and for it being one of the busiest days of the year (as it was Father's Day), we were quite impressed by the service and how quickly we received our food! Our waiter was great and was so efficient especially with our large group. In regard to the food, the bread and butter we received at the beginning was amazing as well both appetizers which included the queso fresco with brisket and the tenderloin bites. The chicken tortilla soup was not the best in my opinion (2/5) and we also ordered the chopped steak which was okay (3/5). The onions and the mushrooms though that came with the steak though were AMAZING (4.5/5)! We did get the carrot cake for dessert as well which was similar to your average carrot cake, nothing special (3/5). read more

Me and my wife went here for dinner with our toddler the other night , and even though the seating was something to be desired our service was outstanding. After becoming a member of Landry's, I was eager to find a Saltgrass nearby that offered great meat and wonderful service. This location off of Central Expressway did not disappoint! Ribeye was solid, asparagus perfect, and hedge salad flavorful. Plus, I'm on a strict diet and they will even grill their jalapeno wrapped shrimp for you (no breading or frying). Which makes it a lot healthier. Love the interiors of the Saltgrass restaurants too. From the great country music selection to the decorum, it's as unique as it is comfortable. If you find something on the menu and you're curious if it can be made a special way (steam vs friend veggies?), ask and you may just get what you want! read more

Celebrated daughter's birthday for Lunch. Lunch menu is terrific. Ribeye was tender and perfectly cooked. Rattlers appetizer was a first time experience and found out you can add two to any meal instead of ordering a full appetizer. Just to be completely clear, Saltgrass Steakhouse is not high on sodium and doesn't sell grass. This is probably a benefit, because what they do offer is exquisite quality comestibles at reasonable prices. Once one has requested (and been denied) seasoned spider-grass, they can choose from a panoply of delicious menu items including salads and various other dishes. The waiters and staff are amicable and pleasant, and will assist in making a good choice. The interior of this establishment is pleasantly dim, with welcoming wooden western architecture and cowboy themed embellishments. read more

We decided to come here for Father's Day(6-18-23). As we expected, it was very busy(mid afternoon before dinner)with 10 minutes wait(not bad at all). When we were seated, our server came fairly quickly to take our drink order while we looked at the menu.The ambiance in the restaurant was nice with south western feel. I don't eat steak, but I must say that they have great choices for non steak items and variety of appetizers. I decided on Queso with Brisket, Range Rattlers(4, 6 or 8) and Atlantic Salmon(came with side and soup or salad, so I chose Brussels sprouts and baked potato soup) and sweet tea. My guest ordered bone in ribeye, wedge salad and Coke. Queso and Range Rattlers were amazing( ginormous Texas portions). However, my salmon was "where is the beef?"(old Wendy's commercial from the 80's for those of you who are too young to know it). It said on the menu, "grilled to perfection", but I think it meant grilled to well done. I didn't say anything, bc I didn't specify how I wanted it done(seared), but my side of Brussels sprouts were excellent. Besides, I probably don't want a seared seafood at a steak joint, I'm just saying. The salmon looked kind of dry from being well done, so I ordered additional Oscar topping . My guest said his bone in rib-eye was excellent, but he also mentioned that it's more expensive here than Long Horn(we usually go there)and their steak is just as good and service is great(I will get to it in a minute). His wedge salad was huge, so he couldn't finish it. The server even brought extra blue cheese dressing. Our server was nice, but it was hard for us to track her down as she was busy attending to larger tables and Father's Day! I totally get it that they make money on tips, bc their server wages are very low. She wasn't able to refill my sweet tea(it was ok, not that good)and my guest's coke. I'm not from the South, but I became to love sweet tea and now, I can differentiate good sweet tea from not good one. At one point, he wanted to go to the bar to get our drinks, but the bartenders were busy. My guest had to flag down a manager(I assume he was the manager, he had on civilian clothes) to order my Oscar topping and for steak sauce. It was very chaotic. I'm giving this place 4 stars, bc appetizers, steak, and salad were excellent and at the end, our server asked us how was everything and offered to pack up my food for me which was nice. Over all, we will definitely return, but maybe on a normal day and not on holiday and after lunch rush and before dinner where we may be able to get a good service. read more

Went for lunch today. Nobody there and it's lunchtime. We ordered a Chicken fried steak. It literally looked like a fried crepe, all crust and hardly and meat. We also ordered the bacon wrapped filet. It was cooked just fine but its got to be smallest Filet I've ever seen. Literally the diameter of a golfball. We decided to go here on a Sunday afternoon to sit on the patio and enjoy a meal. Originally when we got there, there was nobody sitting on the patio so we asked if it was open and this hostess said she wasn't sure but she would go check and she came back and said it was. She went and wiped down a table for us and the chairs and was so friendly and let us pick whatever seat we wanted. Then she came out and checked on us several times. Her name was Jennifer Mendez. Also, our server was awesome! Rico was so friendly and very polite, and I even asked him if he had worked at Chick-fil-A before because he said my pleasure every time he said anything to us and he just said that he had not but he thought that verbiage was very important. Tried this place as takeout. Food was good for a midrange steakhouse. The meat was well seasoned, flavorful, and cooked to our desired finish. I don't think it was super high quality meat since I've had more tender New York strips but for the price, I thought it was reasonable. The mashed potatoes were also good, though the presentation is in the picture doesn't do it justice. The salad was pretty standard but next time we'd skip the mac and cheese. The potato soup was also surprisingly decent. There's plenty parking and pick up service was friendly. read more
