The food is fantastic in both quality and taste. Love it! Well, that is, assuming you ever get the food you ordered in the first place, which apparently cannot be assumed. The service? Surprisingly nonexistent, even though I've really loved and patronized this place for many months. I am a longtime client of Fish in the Box who's been ordering dinner from here via DoorDash on average once or twice a week since early 2025 or late 2024. Last Monday, my Doordash order from them was canceled an hour after it was supposed to have been delivered--with no explanation whatsoever--and when I tried to contact Fish in the Box to confirm what was going on or to at least confirm when they will be taking orders again (in case they were on vacation for the week), I have not been able to reach a human or have anyone call back despite several l tries. I have tried calling multiple times now and have left two voicemails, simply looking to confirm they are open, but no one answers the phone or calls back (even though I see their business owner has responded to Yelp reviews during this window that I've been calling, so clearly someone is working but can't be bothered to answer or respond to calls). If one's business has decided to abandon all telephone use, it might be helpful to leave a message on your machine saying something along the lines of "we do not accept or return phone calls" so customers know not to try and be disappointed. All that's to say, their refusal to do the basic courtesy of answering customer calls and responding to a simple question is surprising and disappointing--if a customer is looking to give you money, in what world would a business owner not help them to do that? Fish in the Box team: If you don't mind emailing me back, that's be appreciated. And when you aren't able to honor a customer order, we would appreciate a heads-up sooner than an hour after delivery time. I have always been a big fan, hence my frequent orders, and I would like to continue to order from you knowing that the orders will be honored. As you enter, you order through an iPad kiosk and so we decided to get the Deluxe Box ($52) and Uji Matcha with Blueberry ($7.50). I didn't really like the blueberry in my drink since I felt like it took away from the matcha flavor, but the matcha itself was the real star of the drink! I'm really glad that we waited until they reopened again at 4:30 so we could can finally give them a try. We ended up ordering for takeout and the pickup process was pretty easy, and the pick up time was accurate. The inside also looked really cute too so I'm definitely looking forward to dining in next time. Deluxe box- (2/5) this consisted of one amaebi, scallops, seared salmon belly, ikura, Kani and negi toro. The highlight of this box is the kani which was creamy and really delicious. Every single bite was fresh and phenomenal, and the presentation was fantastic, even with it being a delivery order. The lite box comes with fatty tuna with green onions, a fresh crab salad (not your typical california roll imitation crab), ikura, scallops, salmon toro, and sweet shrimp on a bed of rice. It also comes with two soy sauce droppers and a delicious kizami wasabi (marinated, finely chopped wasabi?) that I demolished even though I don't normally eat wasabi. I'm usually a big eater, and even just a quarter of the way through the box I could have stopped--but of course I didn't, because it was that delicious! I noticed they offer an option to add seaweed to turn each bite into a hand roll of assorted goodness. I had planned to bring my own seaweed packs but forgot--pro tip: definitely bring some if you're planning a picnic with the Deluxe Box. I also tried the Tuna Sunset poke bowl, which was good, though it felt pretty standard compared to the deluxe box experience. The drinks are a hit too: the coconut matcha latte is made with real coconut milk, and the strawberry matcha latte is refreshing and nicely balanced. We got our food to go. Small restaurant with very limited seating serving sushi rolls and fancy sushi boxes perfect for picnics. The restaurant has a steady flow of business but not super popular to the point where you have to wait over an hour. From the time that you order to receiving your food, time is ~10-15 minutes for food and less for drinks. The biggest pro about this store is that it's one of the very limited sushi bento box options open on Sundays. We ordered the strawberry matcha as well as just straight up matcha. The straight up matcha is literally matcha in water and a little bland at 50% sugar level. The strawberry matcha was good and very very creamy to the point where it felt and tasted like I was drinking yogurt. Individually, I might give the drinks a 3-4/5 but we mixed the two drinks so the straight matcha had more flavor and the strawberry matcha was less creamy bringing the drinks to a 4-4.5/5. The toro toro roll was delicious and had a smokey flavor. The deluxe box was actually quite hefty and very generous in portion size. The fish quality was amazing and delicious with some seaweed. The only critique would be that there wasn't enough wasabi for my preferences so make sure you ask for extra wasabi if you're also a wasabi lover. read more
