While in Macon we spent some time out at Lake Tobesofkee and ended up driving by the Fish n' Pig a few times, but it wasn't until a few locals told us that it was the best place to eat in Macon that we made it a destination one night. We walked in and first thing was there was no one at the front desk so we kind of stood there meandering with 2 other couples trying to figure out what to do next. After a few minutes someone came over and said someone else would be right with us. Another 5 minutes and someone finally sat us. When the waiter came over and asked what we were drinking I asked him what kind of beers he had. And he proceeded to do one of pet peeves which is say, "Oh we have everything, Bud Light, Miller Light, Coors Lt....." When I ask him if he has a couple other beers he says no to each one. Therefore he does not have everything, instead he has a list of crappy light beers that all taste the same. I know it's not a pub or beer bar, but come on let's mix it up a little. Then I ask if he has bourbon. He says "Oh Yeah, we have everything." Can I get a shot of Buffalo Trace? Oh you don't have that. Make it Makers then. We had gator tail and it was just dry and hard. The catfish wasn't bad, but NOTHING was great or even above what I could do at home. You can tell that they're busy and they just put the food out, while servers work with blinders on. I don't know why this place is the best restaurant in Macon but I can tell you that when I asked the kid working at the campground where a good restaurant to eat at he told me there's Burger King, KFC, or if you want seafood you can check out Captain D's. Really 3 fast food places. I have to say that my week in Macon is one of the best times I've had, and I've made some GREAT new friends! However, with all due respect, I don't think Macon is at risk of becoming a foodie city any time soon. read more

Fantastic Meal, Great Service. Down visiting family in Macon and looking for a good meal. Sister said let's go to Fish N' Pig and that it was Southern cooking with Fish and Bar-b-que. This is one of those don't go to Macon and not find this restaurant. Didn't know if it was a shack on the lake, this is no shack, Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Get to sit and watch the people on the decks and lake. If you have to wait, you can go on the front deck and pull up a rocking chair, kids can feed the fish in the lake. Drinks were good and plentiful, Food was definately Southern. Had the crab leg special (at least 4 + cups of crab meat), had the sweet potatoe souffle (to die for). Mom had the boiled shrimp, brother in law the St. Louis Ribs (dry rub) and every one loved what they had. Will go back in an instant, new favorite place to visit in Macon. read more

Started with the alligator, cheese sticks and boiled peanuts for appetizers. (There were 8 of us) The alligator was prepared excellent. Nice and tender, great flavor (reminds me of chicken, seriously) and the dipping sauce was the perfect pair. The cheese sticks and boiled peanuts were good! I think they should add Cajun boiled peanuts to the menu as well. I chose the fish n pig combo which was choice of 2 "meats," two sides and 2 hush puppies. I had Fried catfish filets and blackened shrimp, fries and house salad. The fried catfish filets were good and fresh. The blackened shrimp was good as well, great flavor. Another person in our group had the grilled shrimp and said it didn't have much flavor at all. The hush puppies were good as well! They weren't over cooked like some places and hard on the outside. They had just the right amount of crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. The portions were good sized. There were 2 catfish filets and a good amount of shrimp. The restaurant sits on the lake and outside seating is available. Nice view I definitely recommend this place and will be returning! read more

Celebrated at Fish N' pig on Saturday night. Food and drinks were all so good. We tried a variety of items and really enjoyed ourselves.

We ate here because it was walking distance from the RV park where we were staying and they recommended it. We both had grouper (one had tacos and the other the grouper sandwich) and the grouper was excellent. Most restaurants in Georgia don't serve it any longer because of the cost, but I'm sure this was grouper and it was reasonably priced. We would have gone back for lunch on Sunday but they were closed. read more

I love Fish N' Pig. The menu is just that... BBQ and Seafood. The portions are huge, so while you may get some sticker shock looking the menu, most entrees seem like enough for 2 to share. It is operated by the owners of Jim Shaw's, so you'll see a lot of crossover on the menu, but I think the atmosphere here is much better. As far as dining atmosphere goes, they have a little bit of everything: traditional dining room, bar, screened in porch, outdoor patio with tiki bar and you can even go down to the docks. What a fun food experience we just had at "The Fish n Pig" on Lake Tobesofkee in Macon GA! Everyone who worked there was kind and friendly! Got to sit next to Walter (age 90) who is apparently a legend with a painting of him on the bar wall. What a delight talking to this man and one of the owners sitting next to him! Discussions included the Braves along with boiled peanuts, grits hush puppies and barbecue. And let me say their barbecue and hush puppies are the best I've ever had! And the lakeside setting is beautiful! If you're driving through Macon it's just 5 min off I75 and very worthwhile! read more

Had a rehearsal dinner here for a large group of family (70+) and friends. Food was served buffet style: pulled pork, baked beans, cole slaw, catfish filets, banana pudding--all of their best dishes and all were really tasty. Also had tubs of iced beer and wine and it was a fun night overlooking Lake Tobosofkee and beautiful at sunset. It was a family night full of love and the atmosphere on the indoor dining room added to the ambiance. Can't wait to go back here and try from the menu! read more

I love Fish n' Pig! The staff is wonderful - the most attentive, friendly folks I've ever encountered at a restaurant. They really make you feel like a valued guest! Food is fantastic as well. My favorite things are the shrimp, scallops, calamari and squash casserole but everything I've tried there has been delicious. Great setting too. This place was ok. Initially weirded out by pig and fish picture. I was apart of a large party; about 30 people. Service was fairly quick for such a large group. I ordered the blackened shrimp salad which was pretty good. My cohorts ordered ribs and they were out! HOW ON EARTH CAN A BBQ SPOT RUN OUT OF RIBS?! Seriously? Casual atmosphere. Great fried catfish and Southern home-cooked style sides. BBQ also, but really enjoy the fish. This restaurant is more fun as it is located on the bank of Lake Tobesofkee. There is a nice porch deck for kids to feed the ducks and for adults to enjoy a glass of wine. There is a good sized banquet room with a fireplace for private parties like rehearsal dinners. Staff was great to work with for our son's wedding rehearsal party. There is also a bar area and they have a band playing usually during Friday and Saturday evenings of the spring through fall. Convenient for Lake home owners who like to drive their boats and dock for dinner. read more

This restaurant has decent food, a great vibe, and an unmatchable view. Unfortunately, the service is just bad. There is something to be said about common courtesy in the service industry. The waitstaff is rushed and curt. The general demeanor of the bartenders and hostesses suggests that they all hate their jobs. We waited 2 hours for a table, but we were there for the band, so we didn't mind about that so much. In such a vibrant atmosphere, it was sad to see the employees so miserable and rude to customers. In particular, Our table was directly beneath the air vent, so we were all a bit cold. We cracked the window next to our table for comfort, which prompted the rudest outburst from Jacob, the assistant manager (I asked for his name after his temper tantrum). He slammed the window shut, and proceeded to yell at us that we were letting out "thousands of gallons of air" and that "when someone tells you to shut the window, you shut the window". He was so loud and angry that the people at the tables around us commented about it. It was quite humiliating. The kicker is, no one had asked us to shut the window. He stormed off before we had a chance to respond. We were disappointed, but not really surprised. F&P clearly gets by on their location, so customer service isn't high on their priority list. Bottom line, go for the awesome music, the breathtaking views, and decent food if you can forgive general recalcitrance if not outright rudeness. read more

We ate here on a Sunday night and the place was quite busy even though they don't open up the main dining room. Very casual outdoor seating. The food is good. I had the catfish filets blackened which was actually served as one filet and not 4 as we were told. I though it was a rather small filet if it was supposed to have been four, but I had no complaints about the taste. Salad was Ok too, though I thought the blue cheese dressing lacked a little punch; a little too much mayo perhaps. But all in all it was a good meal in a lively busy atmosphere. Our recent experience at Fish'N'Pig was good and bad. We sat on the patio to hear the band that was out there- it is on the lake, and it was a nice evening. I ordered the fried shrimp, which was very good. My husband ordered pulled pork without a bun, since he is gluten-free; with Brunswick Stew. He received a small side order cup of pulled pork and a small cup of the stew. The pork was bland, and the stew was so watery that at first he thought it was vinegar barbecue sauce. I give the Fish'N'Pig an overall 3 star rating - 4 for the setting, 4 for the shrimp but 1 for the pork. read more

This is a great place to go for seafood in the central Georgia area. The Lowcountry boil was spot on, gator tail was a great appetizer choice. I brought my employees for our annual Christmas Party there and it was an okay place. I like Jim Shaw's and was told that the food here was similar, because he was involved. Don't believe it. To food was average, but not even close to the taste what you get at the original Jim Shaw's restaurant. It has a nice atmosphere, but it is a loud and noisy it reminds me more of a big dining hall. read more

This place raves with first class hidden beauty as at first glance you may not feel it but once inside and surrounded by the water and beautiful views it just makes the food not seem important anymore... no I'm kidding the food here is great, My favorite is the low country boil with crab legs with extra seasoning as they pour seasonings on the plate. I also take advantage of the fried gator straight out my back yard. no I'm kidding but the food is great and the service is awesome and you will enjoy the boathouse décor along with all the signage and the ability to go outside on the docks and feed the greedy little pigs(ducks). In Macon for the day. I have never seen a bbq place that also had hushpuppies on the menu. I wish I had come later and on a Friday when there was some live music. Visiting our kids there yesterday & took them out for what I was told would be a good seafood dinner. We went last night, spent over $165.00 for 6 people on hardly anything compared to our seafood/bbq restaurants here in NC. Maybe we are more generous with our food than our pockets here? I had the fried shrimp & bbq combo. Our waiter must have never waited in his life because he didn't even offer bbq sauce for the dried out ribs with nothing on them my husband got or ask me if I ever would like a refill on my tea. Not to mention there was no ice in my tea & I had to ask for a glass of ice 3 times before I got it. Every seafood place I have ever been to always gave endless hushpuppies, but here we were limited to 2 little old hushpuppies each (have to pay 2.95 for 4 more--ridiculous) & the catfish nuggets were mushy, undercooked, not flakey. The shrimp was completely tasteless & you get one little butter with your baked potato because I was never fast enough to chase my waiter down to ask for another (skimpy for sure here-offering nothing extra or even asking). Nope, I will never be that dumb again I should have read some of the reviews here before I agreed to go here. I still can't believe the limit of 2 hushpuppies. That right there should have told me that a seafood restaurant who is greedy with the bread would be stingy with their other portion too. I have Celiac. For those who do not know this condition means you cannot eat any wheat, barley or rye. This common condition is also called gluten intolerance, it causes damage to the small intestine and for some, like myself, pain! When I was waiting for a table, I asked the hostess for a gluten free menu. She said they did not have one but assured me the waitstaff was knowledgeable and would assist me. I informed the waitress, ordered my food and viola! My very over-priced, expensive grilled shrimp sported two huge hush puppies on top! Not acceptable! I was with a large group of people so I did not want to send it back and the waitress seemed oblivious so I ate the ones that did not touch the hush puppies and gave the rest to my husband. I also ordered steamed broccoli and it came out so over-steamed I gave it to another guest at the table. It was a nice place to sit and talk with friends but I wish I had not bothered ordering anything to eat. We were there 9/7/19 in the evening. I will not go back. read more

Ate there this past Saturday night. We had an hour wait, which was fine since it was Saturday night. We got there around 6:45. The service wasn't great but I was expecting good food. When the food finally came it looked good but was so salty we couldn't eat it. There were 7 of us around the table. Others were saying their food was too salty too.
