I decided to wait on the repair as I considered how to pay for it. After a couple of days spent pondering what to do, I decided to get some other repair quotes for comparison. My first stop was at Rick Yusi Automotive, who was referred to me by a friend plus their reviews were impressive. Not only was the repair quote less than half the cost of the original quote, but they did an amazing job replacing these critical safety parts. Additionally, while researching a check engine light warning, they discovered my gas cap was defective. Rocky called to tell me it might be the reason for the warning and asked if I wanted him to replace it. I told him to replace the gas cap and sure enough, no more check engine light. I expected that it would be an overnight turn around for the repair, given how busy they were, but imagine my surprise after dropping my car off in the morning to receive a call that it was finished by early afternoon. (They do not do tires, exhaust systems, or transmissions) My favorite D&K story is when my friend took her car to them because her brakes were "spongey." When she returned to pick up her car at the end of the day, she was ready to pay for all new brakes, rotors, calipers, whatever. She was told "Ms. G, get your rugs out from under your brake pedal!" These White guys could have taken advantage of this single, Black woman and charged her an arm and a leg. There was "NO CHARGE!" I have been referring friends and colleagues to D&K for years.
