I discovered Fisheries after living in the N Seattle area for almost three years. I worked for a company that built out custom camper trailers and I did side-work doing the same thing for individuals. While you can almost always find parts for cheaper online, nothing can beat a store like fisheries that has the most obscure, industry-specific components in-stock. I probably spent close to $5k over a span of three months on a number of big projects (solar + 12v system builds, plumbing, etc). While it may have cost me a bit more than buying online, nothing beats the convenience and the ability to return a product easily if it isn't needed. The majority of people that work there are also genuinely knowledgeable and can actually help you find what you need (unlike a lot of stores these days). To address some of the negative reviews - yes, they can take a while to pull will-call orders (especially on the weekends). I remedied this by going to the store early in the morning and NOT on weekends when everybody is trying to get last-minute items for taking their boats out. Now that I have moved away from WA, I am still trying to find a local equivalent to Fisheries Supply. read more

They treat everyone with great care, wether you are a marine trade professional or a brand new boat owner. They have a great rope section, and will install splices and do rigging tasks to help anyone get thier boat in shape for local or ocean sailing. The management team is fully supportive of the staff, and that makes people stay, and the longer they stay, the smarter they get, and the smarter they are, the easier it is for them to help you with your problems and the more fun you can have with your boat. read more

Great selection and I have had consistently great customer service here in all departments. This is my first stop for a last minute need/emergency issue and they've been able to solve my issue almost every time, and when they can't, they tell me exactly where I can go. That to me is the height of integrity at a store when they put the customer need over profit and this has happened on the handful of instances when I've needed some stuff for an older barge that they didn't have in stock. I priced a tiny little AC/DC Norcold fridge as a direct replacement for the OEM part on my '88 Bayliner. I found it here for $890, "marked down" from $1125. I ended up buying from www.greatlakesskipper.com for $580 (marked down from $890) plus $84 shipping from Wisconsin. I saved $315 and didn't have to brave the traffic to and within Seattle. Fisheries Supply has earned our loyalty. We stop by basically any time we're in town. They have a much more diverse supply of boating stuff than our local shops. You can find pretty much anything you need. A STORY: Every once in a while, they're over-busy, and sometimes, it takes them a bit to retrieve something from their storage room. My husband and I once spent two hours there trying to get a water heater that they were certain they had, but they kept bringing up the wrong one. I only mention this because when it turned out they didn't have what they thought they had, they gave us a significant discount on a superior item. To my mind, they made it right, and it was worth the two hours we spent there. The staff has always been very friendly to us, and they're pet-friendly (or they were; not sure how covid has affected this policy, so check before you go), which is a rare treat since I don't like to leave my pet in the car. I really love having a quality Marine store in Seattle. They are a great complement to West Marine, more depth of selection. This all said customer service at fisheries has been a challenge for years and my recent experience just read rates that. The staff almost begrudgingly helped to about 75% of the time. I just bought a high ticket item (Torqueedo electric outboard) from them a week ago that was defective, doesn't work. Now there sending me to the dealer to deal with it. Germany ? Come on I just bought this, it doesn't work. But because I don't have all the original packaging I can't return it. Since Covid every bigger company has nixed there customer service. If you love the water, boats, and water-sports, you will feel like a 'kid in a candy store' here. As a big fan of supporting local businesses, I prefer to shop here before heading to the big box chains. Some stuff they have cheaper. Some might be a few bucks more, but let's be honest, nothing about boats comes cheap. The best part is their selection and service. You can tell that most of the staff here love to be on the water as much if not more than their customers. Another thing that I like is how much they cater to sailing supplies in proportion to the rest of the store. While power boats are clearly the majority, it's nice to see that sailors aren't forgotten here. My in-warranty water pump had a problem. In over a month I called so many times that I lost count and Barry, their warranty guy, never once returned a call or an email. I called and spoke with Jeremy the manager who said he would get me a call back, but he never did either. Calling him again also got nowhere. This is why Amazon is taking over. read more

Observed for years how committed employees at this family run business work to meet the daily orders received by boaters world wide. As a customer, I have always been assisted when needed. I am on boat number three and perform 90 percent of maintenance and upgrades myself. This is a great store, choc-full of all kinds of boating and fishing related items. So here's my super tip: even if you are not a boater this is a really cool place to come and ogle. Because space is at such a premium on a boat, they have all kinds of clever organizational gadgets you can use anywhere. Also, lots of quality maps that are hard to find elsewhere and superior magazine section, small but interesting info about travels up and down the Pacific Coast including Alaska. Good selection and friendly staff, but the prices are quite high. Much cheaper online elsewhere. Surprised they have any online success with their pricing and ordering system. No status other than "Processing". Not very competitive in my opinion. A major problem for me, however is that they just don't answer their telephones or return calls after you leave messages. Also slow to return emails. Very frustrating when you still can't determine your order status a week after you've placed an order. Today I attempted to return a dog life vest to Fisheries Supply during their limited Return Hours (T-Th 10-4). Despite the fact that my receipt indicated that I had bought over $700 worth of gear on my first visit there I was treated with extreme rudeness and disdain. Maybe returning things means you're not in the old salt club. Nonetheless, The vest was unused, in its original packaging with the tag still on it. It had a slight bit of dust on one very small area (as it had when I bought it), otherwise spotless. It would have taken 20 seconds to clean it there. The clerk walked away, took his time and returned saying that I would need to come back when I had "cleaned it up" and located another tag. Right. I just left it and walked out. Later I recalled that on my first visit I waited 20 minutes for an item to come from the storeroom only to discover that it was on a table with other products on top of it but I had not been told. Fisheries Supply has plenty of inventory. If it's not on their shelves it most likely will still be stocked in their large basement/storehouse. And if it's still not available, they can order a part for you or direct you to another store where you might find it. However, their customer service is severely lacking. So many times I've had to stand at their customer service counter and wait, sometimes for up to twenty minutes, for staff to either acknowledge me or finish their extensive banal personal conversations. It's so painful, I do try to not go there. For a local shop, I don't feel very welcome going there. I'd give them 2.5 stars because of it, but I round up. read more

Chatted with manufac., they suggested getting it locally at Fisheries, said generally they discount MSRP so I would probably get it at a better price from them. It was 35% higher there. Bought it from manufac instead. They were appalled when I told them what fisheries was charging. Everything looked to have gone up in price. Makes me wonder if they are profiteering from the pandemic. Think I will be sourcing elsewhere for a while. I'd suggest price checking before using them. read more

I live in a super tiny studio apartment, and my brother suggested I look into boating stores for furnishings, kitchen stuff, etc, because boating goods are often designed to take up the least space as possible. He was right! I got almost my entire kitchen here, because they had such a selection of space-saving appliances. They also helped me buy the correct varnish, sandpaper, etc to re-do my coffee table. I'm not sure about the review below that says they don't have gloves and knives; I went to their clothing store across the courtyard, and bought a pair of those hard-core boots and gloves for my brother who does the Deadliest-Catch thing up in Alaska, and they definitely had knives and a bunch of other boating stuff there. read more

I have been to this store twice in the last week. The people who work there ignore you and stare at their computer screens; or joke around with fellow employees. I finally got this bloated alcoholic to help me and he did not even listen to my question. I informed him he was out of the size product I wanted and asked when the next order would be arriving. He walked off to check on what I had told him. Then, he yelled to me from the other side of the store, that there were plenty of what I had inquired about. However, because he did not listen, he was yelling about a totally different product. Then, this baboon got angry with me. He turned all red and said that he had asked me what I wanted. He never asked me anything. I left. I'm going to order the product direct from the manufacturer. I work all day in customer service and THESE GUYS DON'T HAVE A CLUE. This place sucks!!!! After leaving that dismal establishment, I visited Seattle Marine on West Commodore Way...over near Fishermen's Terminal. What a difference!!! I was acknowledged. and greeted. when I entered. The directions to the products in back where given in a friendly manner. The guy in the back knew his products and gave helpful suggestions. When I went to the Paint Area, the person working there was friendly and "knew his stuff", too. I highly recommend that you avoid shopping at Fisheries Supply and do business with Seattle Marine. I wish I had read the other reviews before placing my order here. The service I experienced from this company may be an all time low for me in internet sales. Sure they had the part on the website but as soon as I ordered it, I was told it was backordered and would be in two weeks later. No big deal, I can wait. Two weeks later I call and get told "it's on the way". So I wait another week and call again only to hear the same tune. Another week goes by and it is now 4 weeks since placing my order. Salmon season has opened and I am stuck at the dock waiting for daylight because I do not have a running light. This is a very common part for a boat-in fact all boats have one! The guy on the phone (call #3) blames the manufacturer and tells me it is too late in the day to contact them but he will do so the next day and let me know what the problem is. I wait more than half the next day and still no call. So, I call him back. Guess what, manufacturer tells them they have received and signed for the part. He claims they are trying to "find" it. When I let him know I am upset he sighs and moans. I asked him why he has not called me to update me, already knowing I am unhappy, he tells me that they are working on it and will get back to me when they know something. Nobody can find my part! I won't hold my breath. Seems like I am the guy who should be sighing and moaning. They may have been in business for 82 years as the guy on the phone was quick to point out but me thinks the next 82 are in question if this is how they are going to treat their customers! Update to earlier review: Raising to 2 stars because somebody actually called me to tell me the item will ship today. Now, how hard was that?? read more

Recently I bought online from the store engine spray paint, it takes long to arrive,no choice of shipping speed, and overpriced.I bought paint,primer, clear coat for my outboard engine. The Moeller brand absolutely not working together with e.a other, the paint on the primer,the clear coat on the paint shrinks. Lots of hours of work in it and all gone because not working together the paints,and lots of money gone. And the engine spray paint has very few in it, 2 wasn't enough for my engine. I'm not recommend to anyone to buy there marine engine spray paint. I tried out spray paint from the Homedepot, and gives much better result,and more in it,cheaper and it's on the shelf. Minus 1 star for the Moeller paints. read more

I have been visiting Fisheries Supply often lately and they carry almost anything and everything I need! Great selection but not always in stock, so make sure to check their website for availability. Have your shopping list with part numbers before you make the trek to the store. The help is not always that helpful, but it is hit or miss. One lady in the back office set me up with an account in minutes, and a customer service person helped me pretty efficiently with a return. If you like boats, you will feel like a kid in the candy store here. Make sure though to be like the kids today, well informed....... read more

Honestly, there isn't another brick and mortar store like Fisheries in the Seattle area that I know of. They have a little of everything from clothing, to hardware and electronics. WM doesn't hold a candle to Fisheries in terms of price or selection, so I only go there if I have no other option. The staff is very friendly overall. I can understand being annoyed with novice boaters asking dumb questions all day. Most recreational boaters are in fact very ignorant. But if you come in the store knowing what you want to accomplish, they will get you what you need. The store does get busy at times causing long checkout lines. Having to present your membership info is really irritating above all else, hence the reason for losing one star. I have this business card with a number written on the back of it that I have to present to the cashier every time. It would be better to just link your account to your name or phone number, like every other business on the planet. And yes, they do lock the door right at closing time. I don't blame them as I'd browse for hours looking at lights and switches if they'd let me! There prices are the best around. I can of course get items cheaper on line, but there's no substitute for being able to actually hold and feel a product before you buy it. For that service alone, I give my dollars to Fisheries before anyone else. Overall, I love shopping here! read more

I often visit this store as we purchase resale items for work here. I suppose I should be clear though: I visit the will call area, NOT the actual store itself. But I can tell that they have a huge variety of items and whatever you're looking for, they'll probably have. If for some odd reason they don't have it, they'll refer you to a place that does. The main guy in the will call area (I think Jerry's his name?) is super friendly and by now knows me by sight. This helps facilitate the process and gets me in and out much quicker than I used to. To be honest, I certainly wouldn't visit this store for any other reason than work. As Peter C. said, this is pretty much a superstore for mariners. I've work in customer service for 18 years and I've never in my life been treated like I was treated here: came at 11:54 am (check cameras) to exchange a pipe that they said it was an 1" but it wasn't, the kid in customer service needs to finish school and stop pretending like not even god deserves him because he looked like he slept on his jeans after watching TikTok videos on his IPad and came to work with the same drawers he is been wearing for 4 days straight; he had this condescending little tude the whole time I was there; he refunded the money and called homegirl to go get the "correct" part; once I waited and got handed the pipe I went to register and noticed it was the wrong size as well so I had to go back in line again hoping to see an adult cuz all the brats here look like they barely know how to use toilet paper; unfortunately the only adult there was busy picking up the slack, so I had to deal with this kid again and he stared measuring things making it seem like I was an idiot so he went to measure the the first pipe I just returned and figured is was not a 1" pipe (groundbreaking) and didn't hear sorry, or admit he was wrong, nothing and just ordered another part and left me like a pair of his drawers... waiting in despair to be cared for till 12:51 pm so I decided to look for a manager at this point and went to the girl in the register to ask; her personality is up to par with her makeup skills..none existent. She just looked at me like she was in the middle adding another filter on Instagram #SoBlessed and I dared to interrupt her; she was trying so hard no to roll her eyes at my existence because her fake eyelashes were about to pop off her face and she just, without any care told me there was no manager on duty; I went back to ask kid where the part was so he finally decided it was a good idea to check on homegirl and apparently she somehow left it hanging somewhere in the back and forgot to bring it to him probably too busy catching Pokémon. I finally got my part and left at 1:02 pm for a transaction that should've taken 10 minutes and turned into an hour of pure stupidity; if you wanna feel unwelcome and that your whole existence is an inconvenience go to a frat/sorority house, this place is way worst. read more

I am a first time sailboat owner having recently purchased a 2016 Jeanneau 44DS. I was referred to F.S. by Marine Servicenter and couldn't be happier with their pricing, inventory, product expertise and Service. I have been in their store a half dozen times and know i'm getting the best price. I have done a few simple returns/exchanges and it has always been a piece of cake. I love that every purchase i have ever made is available on their website (with West Marine I don't usually see store purchases. A couple examples where they went above and beyond: 1) I was shopping for a $600 lifting davit and wanted to see exactly how it was configured they brought one from inventory and completely unpacked it for me to examine the components 2) Barry in Return was so easy to work with. I had a defective lifting harness that I called return about. Rather than take the time to have me bring in the $25 defective Barry just handled the credit over the phone making the process so much easier for em and F.S. You guys have earned my business! read more

Fisheries Supply is probably the best local marine store in Seattle. Their selection is great, and prices are good (certainly cheaper than West Marine). Sometimes it's hard to find customer service - they get very busy or are running around, but a few sections of the store usually have someone there - the guy in the hoses + plumbing section is really good, as well as the electrical guy. One other thing to watch out for - their business entry on Google Maps says they're closed on weekends! But they're not.
