This is seattle best marine store. I try to stay away from west marine as much as possible and with my discovery of Fisheries I will never return. The pricing on there items are bar far the most competitive in the city. And even online they beat most pricing or at least close enough that paying a couple bucks extra is worth not having to wait for shipping. Everything they have online for sale is right at the store. Its great. I shop online and I know if it says they have it in stock online that it will be there when I show up to buy it in person. The staff is pretty great. I have worked with a handful of guys there and they all have been knowledgeable and helpful in helping me figure out exactly what I need. Recently I bought a piece of exhaust hose and when I got to the boat it was to big despite me giving the gentleman the old hose to match it up with. Neither one of us could figure out where we went wrong when picking out the hose and cutting it but somehow i ended up with a hose a little to big. The gentleman took the old hose I brought back with me a second time and made sure he cut me the exact hose this time. Then he refunded my money from the other hose and gave me the replacement at no cost to me even tho it was more expensive, and who does not like free!!!!!! Thanks fisheries!!! Fantastic staff and good selection. More of a mom and pop feel to it, which means stuff isn't always easily found (unless with help from staff). But prices are really good and tons of fun to walk around. They have perhaps the largest buoy ever (hung on rafters) :) I will continue to go here. When you can't find it at West MArine, and you can't find it at any other store, you nned to go here. It's a sailors' superstore, and has every kind of rope known here with the fittings. The store staff are disinterested, as I expect, but knowledgeable, which wasn't expected. Each year they also host a boaters swap meet in their parking lot, which I think adds to their cool factor. read more

This is a tremendously well stocked boating supply store; I'm an active sailor and I've been driving from the Tacoma area to the Seattle store for years. Over the years, however, service has become worse and worse. So, go if you already know what you need, and you're sure they'll have it. Don't expect to be able to discuss anything with staff. You can check their website to see if the item you want has an "available" by it. You don't want to drive in Seattle traffic if you don't have to. Good luck! read more

I left here a few days ago in a state of mild irritation. I went to purchase a list of basic commercial fishing supplies (gloves, fillet knives etc) and came out of the store with very few of the items on my list. The lady who walked in behind me in the crisp, white, polo from the yacht sales company seemed quite pleased with whatever she bought (champagne flutes? tiny oriental carpets? Sperry top-siders?), and there was a wide selection of galley related items as well as tote bags made from recycled sail material. But critical supplies for a boat that catches and cuts up fish? Not so much. This is because this "fisheries" supply store is actually a recreational boating store. I suggest a name change. The staff are perfectly nice, if a little perfunctory and distracted, but that doesn't change the fact that they don't really carry fisheries supplies. read more

Great selection, decent pricing, but service is either excellent or abysmal, depending on who is working. I've been in several times to outfit and repair a small boat. Sometimes I have to wait for ages while the staff chat with each other, or a favorite customer, before I can get a simple question answered. At other times I have had immediate and helpful service. Most recently I tried to exchange a small jar of white repair putty I had purchased there for the same product in a gray color. The customer service person was completely unhelpful. I do understand that I did not have a receipt, so they were under no obligation to make the exchange for me. On the other hand, the person I spoke to was not only unhelpful, but treated me as if I were trying to rip them off or something. Like I'm trying to get rich by exchanging a $10 white putty for a gray one? Again, I do understand that I had no receipt - I was just hoping they would help me out - instead they made me feel like I had insulted them by even asking. I used to go out of my way to visit this place instead of West Marine, at least when they are open (WM has better hours), but this experience has made me rethink. Customer service is supposed to be one reason we want to support the local store over the chain, right? The folks at West Marine have always been attentive, courteous, and very helpful. read more

The largest marine parts place around. If they don't have it they are more than willing to help you find it online or at other stores. The people at the parts counter are very helpful. They also carry an array of outdoor clothing mainly for marine applications. read more

Wished I found these guys before I went to West Marine (WM). WM sucks, the staff is great but the prices suck, almost double that of Fisheries Supply and I enjoy the larger selection of Fisheries Supply. I will continue to purchase everything from these guys and gals. read more

The amount of product fisheries has to offer is amazing. They have most everything you would need. However, their customer service is terrible. I waited for an hour to get a will call item and some help finding 2 other items. First of all they did not listen nor could they find my order b/c it was under a nickname eg Dan instead of Daniel. Also the customer service rep spent 30 minutes chatting with some other employee as customers stacked up... next time I am ordering my items from online. My family let me know today that the people who are there are so terrible they have left before. Save yourself a headache and find another store read more

UPDATE: Adding a star since I've had good service last two times I've been there. _____________________________________________________ I'd like to rate higher, since it's fantastic having a local place like this in town. The selection is pretty durn good in this day and age of the internet.. Nice to be able to go and feel the line, try on the jacket, etc. :) You'd be hard pressed to find it cheaper in Seattle. I find Fisheries to be good value. The big room for improvement; Staff could be more helpful with industry knowledge and less smug. Every time I've been here, tons of seemingly knowledgable staff, poke customers for details of your boating project, only to leave ya in the dust. I know that the gentleman I was speaking with has tons of valuable info... and I'd love to hear it. I know my way around a dingy or two ;) and I don't pretend to have seen it all. Well, after the staff pumps me for details of my project, they don't offer any assistance. I understand, often times there are bunch of tradeoffs and may be they don't wanna be responsible or steer me wrong. But after wasting their time and mine asking me 20 questions about my project, sussing out in their mind my specs and what "they would do," then strangely silent and not one single pointer or offering something to add to my knowledge base? As a more informed buyer, I would be quicker to buy and get outta there. There are a lot of details to finesse, I've done my research, but there is always more to learn. I get the distinct feeling that certain staff are a bit too smug and soft and don't actually get out into the salt anymore.. ARMCHAIR SEAMEN. I got my boat cover quite quickly from the warehouse. Most of the folks were quite helpful and friendly except for the lady in the checkout register. She seemed bored and not interested in ringing up the purchases. Customer service was slow but not too bad at 5 pm on an evening. Prices are reasonable. read more

This place should have a different name. On April 6th, 2017, I went in to purchase some 6# fishing line. They do not sell any fishing tackle or supplies. They told me I was the second person that day that came in looking for fishing line. Then they told me to go to Big 5 or Fred Meyer. lol! read more

This story of poor service extends over 2 years. I bought a variable speed jabsco fresh water pump years ago. I installed the pump and within a month or so the pump got very hot and blew a 15a circuit breaker, multiple times. Fisheries, at first, was symmetric to my issue however they put me in touch with jabsco for resolution. Jabsco had seen this problem before and was quick to offer a loaner. The loaner however was a lesser model W/O variable speed control. It was loud, vibrated and was either full blast or off resulting in a very annoying variable flow. I have put up with this annoyance while jabsco continued to tell of there not being a solution. Fisheries still, to this day has this pump for sale in there catalogue. Out of complete frustration with fisheries lack of customer care I traveled a great distance to see first hand what the bottle neck was. I talked to a couple of people I had communicated via email. All of the suggestions lead to Barry Maynard the supposed guru of returns. Barry was not what you might expect as he showed me a box full of pumps identical to mine that had been returned the previous week. He said he would contact a jabsco person higher up than the person I was dealing with, that was last August. Since then silence. I tried going back through others I had met during this process. Complete silence out of fisheries. So now I am stuck with an inferior pump having paid almost twice the value for a superior pump and company, Fisheries supply, who does not care. If you are interested in a pump definitely do not consider jabsco and if you are wanting to deal with a customer oriented supplier look elsewhere. read more

Watch your back. Fisheries has a lot of inventory and a nice storefront, but I have had several episodes lately where I pull something off the shelf with a tag that says $98 (a Johnson 2200 bilge pump) only to have it ring up at $130. I have asked the electrical folks to look up some spendy Blue Seas remote battery switches only to be given a price that is *over* MSRP! Oh, and customer service? Meh. At the register the first question is "do you have an account?" and if you are a loyal, big customer your account will get you some decent prices, but my experience as an average boater is that having an account at Fisheries is worth squat. I have been treated more fairly by smaller businesses and will only stop at Fisheries for small potatoes stuff (for my convenience and for no-account cash only purchasesb). I am nearing retirement so am a lot more sensitive to prices. So, for the most part, I'll use Fisheries for small purchases and "showrooming", and support other smaller local marine businesses when I can, but will likely cherry pick items from outlets like Amazon, Defender, Genuinedealz, et cetera. I don't own a yacht, I own a boat. That Johnson pump will arrive Monday. $85. read more

This place has gone downhill. Customer service stinks and I think it's a fundamental problem with their management. I asked one of their guys to look up a part for me and he acted put out that he had to do it. When he had a difficult time finding the part number, he gave me attitude. He then had to ask one of the girls at the front desk how to do it and treated them with complete disrespect. I couldn't believe the way they talked to each other... in front of me. I would have told their manager but I've had similar problems with them in the past. The employees will have personal conversations in front of you and won't acknowledge your there until their done. There is no urgency to take care of their customers. In this economy, we deserve better service. read more

After going to boat show I purchased a product from Fisheries. Walked 20 ft away opened box and half items missing. Went back and had to help them find rest of stuff. First they told me it was mismarked and priced too low...Then they said that I would have to come back to Boat Show and pay to park and come get another one next day....finally after much scuttlebutt we found the stuff....Their CS Sucks!! read more

I absolutely loathe this business. The woman who works the will call desk is incompetent, rude and slower than molasses. Constantly has problems finding an order and I usually have to make the order again when I show up to will call because she can't seem to find it. Additionally her favorite saying is "I can't help you right now because I'm in the middle of something" or "can you find somebody else to help you". If my company didn't do business here I would only go to SeaMar where service is much much much better. read more

If you need advice on how to repair a hole in a sailboat hull, paint it and finish it, talk to Jason in the paint department. He is very knowledgeable and gives great advice on how to make repairs and which materials to use!! Jason also gave very helpful recommendations for painting a nonskid surface on my deck. read more

Great selection.... If you can find it yourself. The customer service here is just abysmal. They forgot about the product they were getting on the back for me, leading me to wait for 25 minutes. Terrible customer service. They were supposed to call me back about a part and never did. I left two messages with no return calls (and I was polite on the phone). When I gave up and went back to the store they didn't have what I needed and were not helpful. I bought a couple of items and when I was rung up the cost was much more than I anticipated. I looked online and they were the cheapest for the same product. I ordered it and got it in a reasonable time period but after it arrived I looked at my credit card and they had added another over $10 (to an $18 item) so they came out the highest. I've returned to Fisheries Supply several times over the last two years. The staff are helpful and the selection very good. It doesn't help, though, that I've shown up a couple of times right a 6 p.m. It doesn't matter that I knew exactly what I wanted to get and where to find it. And it doesn't matter that their customer had to rush across town to arrive at Fisheries Supply... at exactly 6 p.m. Fisheries Supplies' "manager locks our door as soon as our clock says it's time to close." They were locked before atomic time today. I understand why Costco does this, but why does Fisheries Supply operate in this harsh manner? Perhaps it's because they don't have enough competition from West Marine. Once again Fisheries Supply has soured their favor. read more

Consistently the WORST customer service. I have been in a few times and each time experienced lazy, distracted, and ambivalent customer service. Here is a blow-by-blow of our last visit. Walked to the back of the store for some line. Two employees are buried in their own worlds. One guy is reading a book on a tablet and the other is measuring his finger thickness with a micrometer - I KID YOU NOT! After "disturbing" them we are told we can look around and cut our own line. We cut two pieces and bring up the spools so they can get the right UPC number. The guy reading the tablet lazily looks up and says "I don't know why you brought the spools up her." - really, don't you mean - Thanks for doing my job for me while I catch up on my reading. He takes forever to write the two codes down on a piece of paper. As we head up to the cashier to pay, we notice more employees lounging around, avoiding eye contact. Several are even sitting down on counters. Wow - hard to believe this place can stay in business with so many slacker employees! read more

Ah customer service. I have never seen such bad customer service, reminded me how you feel when you are at the dept of licensing. My first time at this store, walked in and waited at the electronics counter to look at some VHF radios locked up in a cabinent. Waited for 9 minutes seeing 3 different zombie like employees not serving a customer walk by with no eye contact., including the customer service representative 12 feet away. Finally, I decided to ask the represenative if there is a electronics person to ask a question, her response was no one is here today that works the electronics department. WHAT? I responded does that mean you do not sell electronics until monday? And of course her atitude is not, "We can get someone soon to help you open the locked cabinent", its sounding like I am the one who is wrong. I always thought the customer was right, but I guess not at this place. They lost my business! read more
