I'm not a huge outdoorsperson, but stopped in here looking for some archery gear for my son. There is ample parking, which is nice considering the area, the staff was helpful and knowledgeable about their offerings, and they had a decent selection to choose from. The first time I went in there was a bit of a wait as the person behind the counter was chit-chatting with a customer, but I was in no hurry. I didn't end up purchasing anything since it was a bit more money than I wanted to spend, but they did offer a sale on a few items which was nice. They always make sure they have parking even if there is a game in the stadium district. If you are going outdoors this place fills in all the gaps that a place like REI utterly fails. Plus you will find great REI type substitutes. Don't get me wrong, I spend plenty at REI, but I am also a BSA Leader and when we need a big pot for a cookout, REI wants to show me a $ 200 Titanium Pot while these guys know what I need a $ 30 Big Ass Aluminum Pot that I can overcook on a stove or just throw on a fire. If you're an avid outdoor person and are looking for quality products then you absolutely need to come here. As someone who describes themselves as a "Yeti enthusiast" this absolutely a "must- see" event. Perhaps I'm late to the party on Outdoor Emporium but it is a great local option with all the gear you need for whatever your outdoor adventure calls for. I'm also a big Carhartt fan and loved that there was a Carhartt section among other familiar brands. If you are a Yeti fan like myself, you'll find on the Yeti website that Outdoor Emporium and their sister site are the only 2 authorized retailers that consistently is stocked (major plus because other stores that sell Yeti will only have a limited supply). Outdoor emporiums has been my go-to place for outdoor fishing gear for years. Even though you can find stuff online through Amazon, Outdoor Emporium manages to get things in stock while maintaining a huge selection when others don't have them available. They also tend to to have the best prices in the area. The items I go for most are for fishing. You can get just about every type of lure here for any fishing environment, even squidding. The selection of rods and reels is so vast, it's hard for a beginner to know where to begin. Thankfully, the staff is very knowledgeable since they go fishing regularly and can even recommend spots on where to go. Whenever a major season is about to start though, I recommend picking gear up early. Things that you need usually sell out in the middle of the season, such as for pink salmon fishing. The only downside I have about this place is that perhaps the parking lot isn't that large. Sometimes you have to circle around a bit and wait for a spot to open up. Otherwise, Outdoor Emporium is my top choice on getting fishing gear. read more

I was a little apprehensive because of the bad reviews, but I figured this place has to be better than Sportsman's Warehouse- where the dumbest people on planet Earth are employed. I was pleasantly surprised and relieved. In December, I bought a couple pistols. I dealt with a guy named John and about half a dozen other employees throughout the transaction. Everyone was super courteous, professional, and helpful. They explained the background check process in detail (the guys at Sportsman's Warehouse had no clue how the process worked. It was painful to interact with them). They called me as soon as my city completed my background check. I would definitely buy from them again. I didn't deal with any dummies. read more

Parking for the location is also a breeze compared to some of the businesses nearby. 1 star off because sometimes it's hard to get a hold of someone to help you. Staff here is extremely rude and judgmental. Upon entry I checked my bag I didn't get the staff member any attitude when doing so. I then began to walk to the store to shop and noticed that I was being stopped by a member of their staff. I was carrying no bag and I've never had any issue in this store before I've never stolen anything from the store. So the only reason they could possibly have to treat me as such is how I look. I guess because I don't look like a typical customer of theirs you know the outdoorsy sort that must mean I'm a thief to them. Personally I would eat a garbage truck full of broken glass before I would give these people any of my money. There are plenty of other places in Seattle where you can purchase the same kind of items without being treated so rudely. My son and I dropped by Outdoor Emporium for the first time since moving back to the area somewhat recently. This was his first trip and he absolutely loved it! We were met with a friendly greeting, then headed to the fishing gear where we found a great selection of lures for my son to stock up on before making our way to the shooting sports area. We were pleasantly surprised by the prices they offered on just about everything back there, especially for a place in the city! Best of all, though, was how friendly all of the staff members we spoke to were. We will definitely be back to support a business that understands its customers and cares about what they sell them. My overall good experience at Outdoor Emporium was ruined today by the middle aged female employee. Went in to get a Northwest Forest pass, the young guy cashier was super friendly but said he couldn't sell me the pass and I would have to wait for another cashier. No problem with that. He said only day pass was available which was fine with me. He then yelled and called the old lady in the back and asked if she could help me, she was so grumpy and annoyed, took a look at me then just said NO even though she was just standing there doing nothing. I live in Snohomish county and I drive specifically to OE to purchase my pistols. I know I can go elsewhere but I come here because of the customer service provided, specifically by Malcolm. My brother-in-law was in town from Cali and we visited OE. He, too, was very impressed by the care and knowledge Malcolm provided us. Ok, I was brought to this store by my brother-in-law on my visit with family. He introduced me to Malcolm who works the firearms section of the store. First impression of Malcom, very professional, very informative about the products we looked at and in this case were the safes on the floor. After spending quite a bit of time in the store just window shopping, never did I feel any pressure or negative vibes from Malcolm or any of the other sales personnel. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Joe, who also worked in the firearms section of the store. He assisted us with any questions we had regarding things related to firearms. He also assisted us when my brother-in-law selected a pair of new sights. Then enter Malcolm once again to go over several of the handguns they had on display. Malcolm showed us a variety of different brands/models even knowing that a purchase was not going to be made that day. My brother-in-law had taken me to another gun shop closer to where he lives and although not a terrible experience, I would say that the sales personnel were less than helpful and didn't seem all that interested in dealing with a potential customer unless you were actually there to purchase a firearm. So for all the non-sense crap related to firearms sales in Seattle...ie the extra costs, just because of the first time experience I had there as a visitor, if I were to move up to the area, I would pay the extra just because of OE professional in the likes of Malcolm and Joe. read more

These people are not at all cool. They call me in to pick up my order. I left basically right after they called me and being in Seattle I got caught behind some traffic. I got there way before they closed. I was super nice and went right where I was supposed to go and asked to pickup my order. He said he "can't help me because they need an hour to do the paperwork and they close before that" I nicely replied I've done this numerous times and it's never taken a second more than 15 mins. He replied well I gotta go thru that door and go get it. It was after a long day and I really didn't wanna go back n fourth w this guy so I just gave up. I still had some time before they close so I used it to look around. The absolute worse part of all this is the same guy followed me around and I don't know how else to explain it but it was like he was trying to pick a fight with me. I own a business and I would never ever speak to a customer like he did. It was so mean. He kept saying bye, we're closed. I looked at my watch again to make sure it wasn't 7pm yet. Sure enough after all this I still had 17 more minutes. I just felt like picked on so I said a few words to him about how rude he was. I didn't cus or say anything rude. I just wanted him to know the way he handled this was very unprofessional. I'm really disappointed in this place. If I could leave a 0 star review I would have. The way I way treated by the outdoor emporium staff on the day of 06/27/21 was horrible and no respect was given to me. I went in to do a firearm background check and to pay a transaction fee for a firearm I had purchased. (1st time gun owner) During the time of doing the background check a separate specific store associate other than the one who was helping me from the moment I walked in came up to me. This individual is the reason for what happened on that date above. I was told by that individual that I had the odor of cannabis on my cloths and that he won't be able to sell me the firearm. I understand. This day I learned you can't own a gun if you use cannabis recreationally In the USA even if it's legal in your state. I understood it and never questioned or tried to get them to sell me the firearm. I let them know multiple times I understood completely. I was beyond that. After that fact I proceeded to ask the individual questions about the law for the reason I want to be more educated and want to learn more. The individual was not being helpful and instead repeated himself over and over. Mind you they never asked me to leave while all this is happening..... he would repeat himself over and over and I would tell him I simply wanted to be educated. He did not care to educated me and instead it lead to him getting up close and personal in my face and telling me to leave the store. I felt threatened by this act and generally asked him "are you threatening me?" He responded with "yes I am" . All the while I was already walking toward the exit of the store. He proceeded to follow me and was heels close. I turned back and approximately 10 more associate started to back him up without knowing what was going on. I started to get nervous as I didn't know what was going to happen. I took out my phone to record what was happening and they told me I couldn't record and the individual who caused all this grabbed my phone along with my hand. I was able to hold onto my phone and hold onto it. I was at the exit already and the 10+ guys continued to follow me to my friends car who was driving.... Antagonizing me to do something. Telling me I'm going to get reported to the ATF. I got into my friends car and the 10+ guys were still trying to antagonize me and even surrounding my car. I was able to leave and the first thing I did was contact Seattle Police Department so a Police report can be made about this incident on Outdoor Emporium. I do want to mention that during the altercation that was going on. There was a lot of verbal back and fourth on the way out. I was simply expressing how I felt about what was going on but I never denied leaving, or tried to do something out of the ordinary. I went in exited after waking up to their call to do background check after working that morning and left with the most disrespect a Company has ever gave me. This review had to be made. Have to reduce my rating, their FFL fees are higher than the place I most recently went to. Their computer for completing FFL forms was also much older than the small shop I went to, surprising because being a big store, I'd think they would have the money for something better. Because of the new Seattle tax on ammo, I will also no longer be getting ammo here (or anywhere within Seattle city limits). I dislike needing to buy a membership (not a one time fee, it expires!!!) to get the best price and every time I buy something without a current membership, I feel like I'm being ripped off because once upon a time I had one. read more

There is NO question WHATSOEVER that since she has joined your team, your store is much more organized.
