I have been here 3 times in the last month or so. Every time I was treated with friendliness and staff ran me out 6 or 8 different shoe pairs to try on. My old Brooks Dyads which I bought there in 2021 which were perfect for all sports and every day walking til early May had died. The first 2 times I tried on I think every firm bottomed shoe. I know I bought a pair which I tried to convince myself would work but didn't. On my last trip back (after a run thru about 7 other stores) I came in asking for a brand which I knew I had not tried. I began my litany re "old shoes died.. '. The staff asked if I tried Addictions model. I knew they hadn't worked before. His engaging smile overcame my objection--He told me something about the sizing which I did not remember what I had tried on. These work. These work. These work. Excellent customer service the moment I walked through the door. They asked which shoes (Brand) fit best now and the size I wear. They also asked what I'll use the shoes for before providing several brands and styles to try one. They watched me walk in them and after about 20 minutes I was checking out. I absolutely love my new Hokas and receive many compliments on the color. They are absolutely the best fitting shoes I've ever had. Light and help prevent foot exhaustion when jogging. Yes they were spendy, but absolutely worth every penny to have well fitting shoes. Can't believe it's taken me so long to try this place. An update: I wore that first pair completely out and came back to Super Jock and Jill to buy a new pair in the late spring. Of course, shoes being shoes, Brooks had updated the model and the new model didn't feel as good. Unfortunately, at this visit the guy helping me (I don't think he's there any more) didn't seem like he wanted to be there or wanted to be particularly helpful. It was like pulling teeth to get him to bring out new pairs - I think I only tried on two or three pairs of shoes, none of which were particularly great. But I needed shoes, so I bought a pair of Brooks trail runners and I had to lean on him to even enter the shoe info into the customer database. It was not a fun or good experience, especially since the shoes ended up not being comfortable or working well for me. I came back in the late summer when that pair were really not working, and was helped by a wonderful guy who was much like the person that helped me the first time I visited Super Jock 'n Jill. He was detail oriented and creative and we tried on a bunch of pairs before settling in on one pair that felt better than any of the others. He also worked with insoles, including cutting one up, to try to get my foot comfortable. I really appreciated his help with the shoes - again, it was a visit that took over an hour, and we tried on maybe 10 pairs, but I bought a new pair and I was very happy with their help. Jock 'n Jill is hands down the best! An embarrassingly long time ago, I got a pair of shoes from here and wore them into the ground. They were in terrible shape, but they were my absolute favorite. I've been here twice within two weeks. They have an amazing return policy and really care about you finding a shoe that works. I've brought shoes here for over a decade! You have 30 days to return the shoes if they don't work out. What prompted me to write a review 7 years later from my first review was the expertise of one of the sales people, Robert. My beloved ASICS updated their shoes and don't work for me anymore. The shoes I brought two weeks ago killed my arches and shin the three times I wore them. I came in and told him the issue. He said to sit tight. He brought out three shoes of different brands and I ran outside and up the hill (it's the test run they have people do). He was so knowledgeable and considerate and asked me questions. I ended up getting an even switch because the shoes were the same price. To me, it's worth spending good money on running shoes. I took my partner here to get him fitted for some shoes since I signed him up for a race and he was wearing some super old adidas shoes to run in. The person who helped us was so nice and brought out 6 or 7 different shoes for him to try out after assessing how he runs. I am not a runner. I am a person who recently suffered from Plantar Fasciitis. That is, until I visited Super Jock 'n Jill and was helped by a young woman who suggested more than a few ways to alleviate my pain. Conservative shopper that I am, I first tried the insoles, and loved them so much, soon returned for the Brooks running shoes she advised, as well as a second pair of insoles. Because of her simple suggestions, I could comfortably enjoy hiking Silver Falls and the beaches of the Oregon Coast. Hooray, she saved my vacay! A side note, as a bit older individual, I am often treated with disregard by sales staff. Not so in this case. My partner and I were each looking for something very different - she really took time to listen to us and understand our individual needs. While we were trying shoes on, she was patient, took time to explain the differences, and answered all of our (many) questions. I honestly can't say enough about how much I enjoyed my time in the store and about how great the staff was! One employee in particular, Carl, was especially helpful during my search for a light to use while running. I didn't know how to even compare the different lights that they had, and he helped me to go over the options and to pro/con everything that they had on the shelves. Love this store. In my opinion it's better than the Redmond store just due to which staff happen to be here more often, but other than that they're basically identical in service. Staff is knowledgeable (many are local coaches and collegiate/post collegiate/semi pro athletes), helpful, and patient. Good return policy, though in 10 years of running I've only needed it once. Store also does a lot to support the local running community through race sponsorships, spike nights, beginning of the high school season midnight runs, etc. Definitely a small business worth supporting! read more

I've been going here for more than five years now. Since I started going here I've been a loyal customer only buying workout shoes from here. When I first went there I'd been having some foot pain from doing squats and after them helping me get the right shoes I haven't had that problem. This is because they have you test different shoes and watch you run in them to determine how you land. Some people lean in or out or put more pressure on their heals or the balls of their feet. Their prices are comparable if even the slightest bit higher then it's worth it. They keep lower inventories so you know you aren't buying shoes that have been sitting around for months and months deteriorating. This is what happens with big box chains. Always a great experience shopping here. Staff are friendly and super knowledgeable. They also aren't high pressure sales people. It always feels like they have your best interest at heart. I went to the Seattle location. I'm really impressed with the COVID precautions the staff is taking. Everyone wears masks. The staff is really quick to greet and assist customers who need help. I was helped by Rebecca. She was so nice, patient, and professional. Not only did she listen to my needs/concerns, but she also looked at the way I walked/jogged to help me select the perfect shoe for feet support. Another thing is that they allow you to run OUTSIDE the store (up and down a hill right next to their store) to test out the shoes in real-life conditions! I must've tried on 6-7 pairs of shoes with Rebecca before I found my Brooks Adrenaline, and with each pair, I was trying on I was able to do the "test-run". From my observation, the staff members helping the other customers were also very nice and professional. They genuinely care about giving you the best shopping experience and also no buyer's regret! I literally love this place. It's not so much a shopping experience as much as it's a running therapy session. I can't remember a time when I didn't end up having an awesome and inspiring conversation with a sales person who had either run a race I was training for, or dealt with an injury I was dealing with. Which means they know their stuff. They'll talk to you about what your running looks like so they can help you find the exact perfect shoe to fit your running habits, injuries, quirks, superficial obsessions about shoe color, etc. And then they'll let you go outside and run in them so you can confirm. If you were to look at me, you wouldn't think I like to run. I have short legs compared to the rest of me, my knees are bowed, and then there's the occasional cigarette hanging out of my mouth while I have a beer. Yes. I know. We runners know that we're supposed to rotate shoes every x amount of miles/months, but I usually wear mine until they fall off on their own. I had become a huge fan of barefoot-style shoes for trail running, obstacle runs, and CrossFit, but adding in some actual cemented-path running the last few weeks, I've noticed that my current shoes weren't doing me any service. Coincidentally, the gift certificate I received for Christmas was burning a hole in my wallet, so I went to check them out. You COULD go down the street and go to the bigger running chain store. Their service is fine and they have a huge selection (and they have the custom-shoe-insert thingie-maker) but my first experience with them was so bad, I didn't even review them because my hackles get all up when I think back on it. SJJ is small, and it is usually full of people on the weekends. But they really crank out helpful service efficiently. Although busy, I was approached immediately, asking me if I needed help, and I explained that I was looking for a new minimal running shoe that would provide a little more cushion, but not a lot. The first two pairs she gave me to try on (running up the hill outside) were like running on trampolines! I felt very go-go Gadget. The next one was better--and the last New Balance ones were just right. Parking is beastly, the staff are efficient, and the prices are comparable to other stores. I ended up here because I've recently decided to be less fat by doing Crossfit and I've never really had a proper pair of athletic shoes. I got every bit the personal attention all these other reviews talk about. The employee helping me even managed to fix a squeak in my wife's shoes... ones she's had for months and didn't buy there. The only reason I didn't go five stars is because you have zero choice in the look/style of the shoe if you want a particular fit and cushion. I bought shoes I actually think are kinda ugly because they felt so good. In the end it's about a quality fit above all else, but I would have preferred shoes that weren't so in your face.
